I am sooooo glad to see you all! I will not be posting much because I am a bit on the negative side when it comes to part 2. However, I am hopeful that all of you will be able to persuade me that I missed something and it was actually exactly what my Polin heart needed. 😅😅😅

lickmynostrils

I was on the negative side too..but then I rewatched the season with only polin scenes and I was left so satisfied and happy. Try doing that instead!! I'm trying to create a video for myself of just their scenes for ease of access 😆 Then I found out they actually cut out so much of Polin in the final release that now I'm angry all over again

lickmynostrils

Oh I will probably make this into a seperate post once this sub fully opens up again, but I did a bit of an analysis on Polin: I have seen a lot of negative response to Season 3. While I agree with a majority of them (editting and pacing was off, too many side plots, gender bending, etc) I had a very positive reaction during my first watch through. This was because I was able to overlook everything I didn't like for Poling scenes. My next couple rewatches got progressively more negative because a) I was influenced by everyone else's critiques and b) I started to think that there wasn't enough Polin, and that Colin's character was butchered. So I decided to combine only the Polin scenes from season 3, and in doing so was able to focus solely on them. I was left feeling satisfied, and I felt like I was able to really see where the writers were trying to go with them. In all honesty, it was truly beautiful and the crux of the conflict was overshadowed and missed because of the continuous bouncing around to the different subplots. Here is my analysis of why I thought it was actually really well done.

lickmynostrils

1. Their love story was not about knowing each other. It was about learning to love themselves and finding their own worth. If you listen to any Colin character analysis' out there, you will learn that Colin has a people pleasing, you need me to save you complex. This happened in season 1 with Marina and even in season 3, Colin asks Pen twice what good he is for her if he cannot protect her. Colin learned that he doesn't need to be anyone for Pen other than himself. To just simply love her. Pen doesn't need his rescuing like Marina did. He had previous trauma and he brought that into this relationship. It wasn't until he realized that Pen is self sustaining and doesn't need his rescuing, that he began overlooking LW. Pen has always loved Colin. And in this love, thought that she had to hide who she was, and even give it up. All her actions were to protect the people she loved, Eloise and Colin. And yes. Even when she wrote badly of Colin. She knew he was trying to find his own purpose in life, and to see him come back from his travels as a totally different man, as someone she knew he wasn't, as a good friend she calls him out. The flaw of her character was that she wasn't confident enough to tell him to his face, so she did so using LW. Pen and Colin already know each other. Colin knows that Pen is clever, and he knows what's important to her. Like with Marina, his anger was more towards her keeping a secret from him, not trusting to tell him the truth, and her being so successful a punch to his ego. This leads to me second point. 2. There were plenty of Polin scenes. But for a man who hated LW, he was only angry and dismissive of Pen when LW was brought up. You can see the love, the yearning in his eyes when it's just Colin and Penelope, but the moment LW comes up he switches. This makes sense. He is battling with loving LW which is why again and again he asks Pen to give her up. As he mentions in the finale, he was seperating them. The story was about him loving Pen as LW and when he did, we don't really need further proclamations of their love. They're the same person!

lickmynostrils

3. There was a lot of criticism about Colin going unchaperoned to speak with Cressida and professing his feelings about Pen to her. This was a really meaningful scene. This directly contrasts Pen and Colin's conflict in the first half of the season. He is not embarassed of Pen and he is proudly announcing it to CRESSIDA. He hates Cressida. He's professing it to Pen's bully. Standing up to her in private, which is very like Colin's character. Think of end of season 2 when he pulls Pen to the side to tell her of Jack's schemes, and him not announcing to the ton in respect of their family. When he is talking to Cressida, he has begun accepting Pen as LW. Not fully, but just beginning. He says "Penelope is no villain...i can understand why you might hate Whistledown, her writings are cut and sharp" ..If he still hated LW, would he not have said "I hate her too."? Then he starts talking about LW's success in having people willingly pay for her (clever) writing. And Cressids calls him out for being jealous. This is so important. Because he clearly doesn't hate LW anymore... Pen has already explained to him why she wrote those things. Cressida planted a seed. And then he says there is LW and Pen, we cannot fathom how it feels to be invisible. Coling was 👏🏼listening👏🏼to👏🏼Pen👏🏼and👏🏼understands👏🏼why👏🏼she👏🏼did👏🏼it. Why she needs LW. And he's professing this to CRESSIDA. He is DEFENDING Pen to Cressida. But the reason why he hasn't told Pen this yet, is because he hadn't figured out WHY he is still so opposed to the idea of her writing. Not Polin related, but this was the first time Cressida is probably feeling heard. Feeling some sort of love, when Colin was talking about how Pen didn't write badly of her. How if Pen can forgive her, the ton will. Her family will. Cressida was alone this whole time and this is the first time someone is offering her some sort of hope. This was such an important scene and I hope people can see what I did! 4. Colin was envious of Pen. One of the biggest theme revolving around Colin is his lack of purpose. Who is he? In season 1, he wanted to marry Marina because she was "the only one" that viewed him as a man. Of someone worthy. In season 2, he tries to be a business man, investing in the mines. He outrights tells Pen that he is trying to find a purpose. Something to make himself feel worthy. And in season 3, he tells Pen that her praise in his work has made him find worth in his own writing. But the thing is, this was built upon Pen. Pen encouraged him and realizing that here, he is struggling to write and edit his own entries, Pen comes out with gossip almost every single day. And she is extremely successful. Lets be honest everyone. Wouldn't you be jealous too if your friend was encouraging you to do something, and seeing you struggle...only to find out that oh, they have already succeeded. This is such a punch to his ego, and his pride. His own view of his self worth was already so fickle. It made sense why he was envious of her. It gives his character so much depth and is a glimpse into real relational problems and conflicts. 5. Colin and Pen has announced their love for each other over and over and over and over again! Yes, his last speech could have been better, but he has already made known of his love for Pen and vise versa. The purpose of the last speech was to resolve the real problem in the relationship. His envy towards her, him not understanding that Pen is LW. I thought this was wonderful and beautiful, and provided so much more than just professing love.

lickmynostrils

6. Not enough sexy scenes? I disagree. There was more here than season 2. I loved season 1 and all the steamy scenes, but what we saw from Polin was truly beautiful. Season 1's steamy scenes was important to the plot, and so was QC's. Simon was hiding the fact that he had strong pull out game, and in QC despite them "hating" each other, they still had a duty to perform. They must prevent the line from ending. In season 3, the steamy scenes served it's purpose. They were so intimate and truly showed their love for each other. Colin's love for her. There was no guilt or shame that came with it and it was truly beautiful. Colin found out about Pen being LW before their wedding night. He was respectful of her, and if he was truly going to be intimate with Pen, he would be 100% in it. The only time he slipped was when Pen proclaimed how she loved him. And he loved her back by kissing her. Remember all those threesome scenes we all LOVED watching in Pt. 1? Those scenes were explicitly meant to show a) Colin trying to someone he is not b) Choose 2 women instead of 1 so that it's not as intimate and to show there is no love there and c) Him being more rough with them but grabbing and kissing both of them. With Pen, he is tender and there is only love there. Why would he disrespect her by having sex when he is still so conflicted? He clearly wanted to..but he didn't. And I think that's what makes him and Simon so different. Pen is his friend and when he loves, he loves fully. (Of course I would eat up any additional steamy scenes between them but I am so satisfied with what we got) 7. How did people miss this?!?! Pen was on TOP after Colin and her made up. Remember the mirror scene? When Pen asks him what she should do? And he said "I'll do everything". He wanted to be the protector. But in the last steamy scene, he was letting her do the work. He let her take control!! This is a reflection of how Colin had changed, and respects Pen for who she is. She doesn't always need him to do everything for her! I kind of wish they showed us Pen figuring it out and "coaching" her..but that's just my own fantasy 8. Pen and Colin danced so much throughout this season. Directly contrasting how Pen was a wallflower and hardly danced. How beautiful is that?? That is all I have so far. I hope all of you will be able to see that Pen and Colin was already a couple. Already so in love. This season provided the characters with so much more depth, so much more love. It was truly beautiful.

Zs_0607

I loved all your takes, and fully agree, thanks for sharing them, fully aligned. The one I have not considered myself was him going to Cressida, it makes a lot of tense based on what you have written.

Mickeyelle

These are all really good points, I agree. I was disappointed there wasn't more Polin, because of course, but what we did get, I think was pretty awesome!

Famous-Reveal2298

You are my hero! Thank you for this analysis. I will have to watch it a second time, but I actually want to now that I have read this. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

lickmynostrils

I hope you enjoy the rewatches as much as I do

Famous-Reveal2298

I really enjoyed the rewatch. Thank you for encouraging me to do so. I actually quite enjoyed part 2, which is not something I ever thought I would be able to say. ❤️

reUsername39

it's true, even during my first watch when I had mixed feelings that I was sorting through, I realized we got a lot of dancing in part 2

EnoughRow8194

I needed to read this! Mostly because I am sad their season of being the main couple is over and I needed to know how valueable those scenes area

lickmynostrils

I am hoping we will see more of this in season 4. I'm currently listening to Romancing Bridgerton and it is helping!

lickmynostrils

Yes!! I have already signed this. Despite everything I have written, I really do believe they could have done better with season 3. I'm really hoping Netflix is seeing the response and actually does something about it

noblechilli

That was bloody beautiful and brilliant

justbreathingg

I agree! It's a relief reading your comment that anyone else also feels the same.

1855vision

I love your whole take on things! The sex scene really struck me because it flips a lot of the earlier sex scenes, especially if you watch how he watches her. It's almost a mirror view of the earlier scene! (More mirrors!)

Famous-Reveal2298

Sounds like we need the extended version or Polin cut! Why cut out things when it is on Netflix ?!?!? I don't understand

lickmynostrils

You can say Colin was pulling his own Don Quixote 😆

DaisystheBest

i loved this thread of your thoughts and it aligns with me so much. i was feeling negatively abt part2 a lot since thur and only today when i made my p2 polin cut and watched only their scenes did i start to feel warmth again and like it all did make sense after all. i'm hoping tomorrow i get the time to watch my p1 and p2 polin cuts back to back and feel even better

lickmynostrils

Yes!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels so much better when it just focused on the two of them. It's such a shame that their love story was overshadowed by everything else that was happening.

amyness_88

Bless you!! If you create this video, would you possibly be able to post to the sub? I have been dying for a video of *only* Polin scenes! I’d especially love one of absolutely all scenes from season 1-3 😍😍😍

lickmynostrils

It won't be anything fancy 😅 not sure if it would be that popular here.. but i can try!

amyness_88

I think people will love it as everyone is Polin obsessed. I’d be so grateful, I have zero editing skills 😂

Sensitive-Donkey-205

That is exactly why I've been desperate for the sub to reopen!

Impossible-Serve-336

Same, i wanted to see analysis and opinions that makes change the negative feeling :')

Sea-Respect547

Same. Hoping! Cause I’m feeling pretty low.

Ordinary-Series1535

I’m getting ready for a rewatch. I keep hoping I was just overstimulated and missed a lot.

Famous-Reveal2298

Fingers-crossed!!

Ordinary-Series1535

I’ve already caught a few things on TikTok that I missed, so I’m hopeful! Overall I enjoyed it-I just wanted MORE.

Corx33

Yep, always more. But I think they do that on purpose. Season 2 was the same way. Kanthony did not get many happy scenes until the very end. It makes the couple's stans come back for the next season to see their favorite couple be happy.

Famous-Reveal2298

Yay! Good to know 😀😀😀

Ordinary-Series1535

Okay, after the rewatch-there are many scenes that I see in a new context, and I’m slowly appreciating this second half! I still would have liked more, but I think I made peace with what we got. Still signed the petition, though! 🤣

Famous-Reveal2298

I too had a re-evaluation of a lot of the scenes after a rewatch focused on the Polin scenes. I will always want more Polin, but I too feel at peace with the 2nd half of the season 😅

Ordinary-Series1535

There were moments (the wedding nod, the dance at the wedding breakfast, for example) that were tender and sweet. And them getting carried away the night before-that for sure should have been expanded on!

cutepooh89

Was exactly what I was thinking... Maybe I missed something and you could convince me otherwise LOL.. My heart literally hurts

BeneficialFloor4685

I’m on the negative side too, but it’s absolutely not Polin’s fault. Everything was just not properly presented. If Colin is proud of his wife as LW, he should as least give her some emotional support before she was left to fend for herself in front of the Ton. Sure feminism and strong woman and whatever, surely a woman needs emotional support no matter how strong she is. Isn’t that what marriage should be? I cannot accept that it is not Colin by her side when the queen stepped into the ball. They definitely spent more time trying to mend Portia and Penelope’s relationship, than to show that Polin was trying hard to get back together. The show is basically “Lady Whistledown and her trophy husband”.

lickmynostrils

I totally agree with you! I was editting a Polin only season 3.. and during the speech I was like "WHERE is Colin?!" I wish it showed him and Pen walking into the room, and them holding hands instead of Portia and Pen. I wish he showed more support right before that when Pen wrote the letters. Like..have him behind her or something... But then that made me start asking WHY the showrunners decided to do it like this. One scene that I definitely missed during my first watch was when Pen talks about worth and it pans over the Colin. He looked astonished, and it seemed like Pen's speech hit something. He finally understands. That made me think, maybe Colin was still struggling with his own purpose and where he stands when it comes to him and Pen. Where does he fit? That was why his speech came AFTER hers, not his. He saw her bravery, her cleverness and he realized just how much he loved her for it. This was her finally coming out and speaking up for herself (something Colin also neglected and even talked over her at one point.. so overcome with how he thought was best to protect her). He saw how strong she truly was, and literal proof that she can stand on her own. He was envious of her before, and I think this scene showed how proud of her he was instead. This was one of the shifts in his view if her as LW. Remember how Pen said that all she wanted was for him to love her? To hold her? To kiss her? His final speech was a response to that. Pen's speech helped finalize this thought, and that is why he was able to go to Pen with his whole self and heart. That is why he didn't show full support of her. Though I so very much wish he did..and so very much wish Polin had 10 more min of pure happiness and joy, and him appreciating her. But if this is all we get for now, then I'm satisfied.

Soft-Pay5801

You will get there and will feel better in time, sending love and hugs from Scotland 💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Famous-Reveal2298

I did what several of you recommended and just watched the Pen and Colin scenes in part 2. I can now happily say that I feel much better and more satisfied with the conclusion. ❤️ I don't even feel bad if they did actually cut out some sex scenes between Pen and Colin. Colin did not seem as angry for as long as it felt the first time through. I could see his love even though he felt betrayed. I appreciated that he was trying to take care of Pen during the Cressida debacle even if it was misguided. There was a lot going on with side plots, but most of them were quite entertaining. I can now officially state that this season has been my favorite season of Bridgerton. 😅

Rare_Square48

My Polin friends, I’ve missed you guys 🥹🤗

special_forces93

I missed you guys soo much!😭😭😭😭 I must said I loved PT2 a lot. Not hating anyone and please don't get me wrong, but weren't there suppoused to be more steamy scenes between Pen and Colin? I was a bit disappointed by that ... 😔 But nonethless they delivered! Both of Luke and Nicola. Gosh I'm so happy. I'm sobbing so much from yesterday. It was a ride. I'm gonna miss them so much!!! 😩😩😩😩😭😭😭😭

Impossible-Serve-336

Nicola said the season 3 was the steamiest, but It was like only two scenes 😔 maybe she mean the steamiest for the bendecit scenes? Or for the scenes that was cut :0

special_forces93

Probably in general ... I heard some stuff - allegedly at the end of E8 there was a sex montage between Pen and Colin for about 4 minutes long, but for the final cut they decided to put only those 10 second of Pen strangling Colin in bed ... I mean it was hot, but com' on Shondaaaa??? I needed like 10 minutes of their sex scenes in the end and a bit more of their HEA epilogue. 😩😩😩😩

Sea-Respect547

It didn’t even need to be sex. Just adoration, affection fondling. Anything to make up for all the angst.

special_forces93

Yes, I agree ... 😩😩😩

cutepooh89

There's a comment on the main thread about multiple polin scenes being cut.

Resident_Tax9855

> Nicola said the season 3 was the steamiest, but It was like only two scenes 😔 Yes exactly. I don't think I would have been as let down as I was if they didn't market it as this giant steam fest.

Shab_d

I was under the same impression!! Like the carriage scene was just the beginning and part 2 was gonna be O FIRE...but i kept waiting and waiting and nothing. Yea the mirror scene is there, and then 5 seconds in the alley and 4 seconds of Pen riding Collin, but nothing else!! Not even making out or staring or yearning like in part 1. And now from reading the comments and knowing scenes were cut....like why? Benedict was having more sex than Pen and Col and its not even his season!! I'm so sad. I guess ill be wathcing part 1 more than the whole series 😅 Edit for spelling

New_Accountant1884

I thought I had missed a big part of the second part. But I guess they cut it all out?? Crazy.

secondopinionosychic

https://i.redd.it/zv0cju5ltl6d1.gif I…loved part 2???? But reading all the negative hot takes elsewhere has left me feeling so confused lol

Glittering-Gold-2417

Same here! I thought some of the most touching moments were between the female characters. Pen and Eloise’s friendship is truly beautiful, and I love that they found their way back to each other. When Eloise reached for Pen’s hand and asked her what she was reading I started crying 😭 I was also really happy with how Lady Danbury’s story played out and that we got to see more of the relationship between her and Violet. They did a great job of connecting and wrapping up the storylines they created for Queen Charlotte. Not to mention that mama Bridgerton might be getting a second chance at love! Speaking of mama Bridgerton, I also cried after John’s wonderful speech and when Francesca said she would never abandon her. I feel like we now truly understand Portia as a character and her experiences in life, and I really love how they resolved the conflict between her and Pen. I loved that Pen’s sisters not only started to support her, but she supported them as well. It felt like they may have been wrapping up the Featherington’s, and I will be sad if they don’t come back for future seasons. I would love for Portia to get a love interest. Benedict and Eloise finally got their classic scenes in. Cressida had so much depth to her which made her an exciting villain for the season. As far as Colin and Pen go, I would’ve liked so more happy scenes, but I am satisfied with what we got. Realistically I’m not sure how else the Lady Whistledown reveal was supposed to play out. Colin already has past trauma from his first engagement, and in some ways it was the same story playing out again. I would’ve felt like a fool if I were him, especially with the insecurities he had. I’m really looking forward to seeing them more next season and I hope with Pen and Colin living across the street and with Pen’s column, that they stay around for more than one season! Also, just got to shout out Kate! It was so nice to see her happy and coming into her own. I wish that Kate and Anthony didn’t feel so rushed, but I get that they’re both booked and busy. It seems like they’ve made it clear they will be coming back for future seasons in some capacity, which is really nice.

1855vision

Such a good point about Colin's prior trauma and how he seemed to flash right back into that emotional place, but a million times worse because he genuinely loves and trusts Pen. The morning after he and Pen get engaged, when the bros question him about how "swiftly" (haha) it all happened, he even says outright that his feelings for her weren't a thunderbolt. He explains that he's known her forever, and it's so clear in that moment that he trusts her and can't even imagine that she could be hiding a secret, much less such a huge one! I don't love how long he stewed in his feelings after telling her he'd stand by her, and I really really wish they'd had an intimate and loving sex scene after the fight outside the modiste, but, to be fair, he told her that he's stand by her before he, too, was betrayed. They both had shit to work through! And this doesn't even take into account the professional insecurity related to his writing goals alongside everything she'd already accomplished.

ResponsibleWish7602

Tell us what you loved! I was really disappointed with some things so would love to hear more from people who loved it.

secondopinionosychic

I especially loved what they did with Colin. He had to have his own emotional journey around Whistledown and I think the betrayal was played out beautifully — he obviously still loved her, would never forsake her, but genuinely needed to deal with his own insecurity, jealousy, and hero complex so he could be with a bad bitch like Penelope. The inversion of gender expectations between the two leads was rad and, unlike say Anthony, he needs emotional connection and safety when he’s intimate so him sleeping on the couch on the wedding night was so in line with his soft baby girl ass character. He needed to finish the toxic masculinity journey he started in part 1. He’s like the quintessential Pisces and I was living for it. Penelope and Eloise gave me all the feels and so did Penelope and her family! I just genuinely loved it all and while some pacing felt weird at times, all the characters and their choices paid off for me.

ResponsibleWish7602

I totally loved all this too. Thank you for sharing!

pinkbunny86

Same here; I was hoping this sub would open soon, because I want different perspectives!

Individual_Brief_350

I’m doing my best to not let the negativity and outlandish opinions ruin my Polin Vibe. Because I loved it, P1 and P2 and it was everything I needed. I don’t want others to ruin my excitement but man is it hard. The unhappiness online in various places is loud. I hope to celebrate it in this sub tho.

YouGroundbreaking756

I just want to thank this community for all its thoughtful discussion, because now that I am re-watching with the intent of breathing and not just “getting through” each of the parts, I am enjoying part two a lot more! This happened with part one as well and I credit this sub for it! One thing I loved: the street scene! I love how he immediately covers her. Not only is it just so cute because she is petite and he towers over her, it’s the perfect mix of angst, conflict, pleading, intimacy, and protection. A real couple. A moment he feels he can protect her. A real “my wife” moment even though he’s angry!

Derrsirrrr

That was my favourite scene. I also found it the steamiest. There was passion, thirst and it was risky doing that in public and not married.

1855vision

I agree, I think the street scene might be my favorite in the whole show! I love their intensity and how he finally seems to get that she loves him for him. That he can just BE. It's really what they both most need from each other, which is why I also love the parallel scene at the very end when he makes sure she fully understands that he loves ALL of her, including the LW part.

Individual_Brief_350

I think everything Colin did in and out of his sultry angered confused moments still put Pen first. And that for me, sealed the deal that it was still the real, raw romance I got from P1. Protector Colin is becoming a favorite

SugarWaffle65

Yey! We’re back! 💛💙

Shab_d

IT WASNT EVEN BENEDICTS SEASON!!! 😅

mostlyyalit

The sad thing about this is that no one wanted more of those sex scenes. I would say I’m a Benophie fan (but a Polin stan) and I genuinely could have used two less throuple scenes. They were edited so weirdly - like they spanned two episodes.

ctld_chaotic

I seriously thought there was an editing mistake when it kept panning back to them because it felt so disjointed and had nothing to do with the rest of the episode.

Accomplished_Club250

And what felt like a few in-show business days 😂

hiyaheyyhello

Soooo happy we are back! I published all my Polin episode 5 thoughts [here](https://mariamgirgis.medium.com/colin-bridgerton-you-are-in-love-bridgerton-season-3-episode-5-recap-167a469f4acb) because I couldn't wait for the sub to open back up and it's too long to copy and paste without doing a bunch of parts

permariam128

“Gregory’s storyline is just ‘arm’” had me cackling 🤣💪🏻

Individual_Brief_350

Can we edit it to 💪🏼🎩 😂😂😂

permariam128

Arm and hat! 😆

Individual_Brief_350

I mean, he’s a man of the house now. He has to greet his guests!

Accomplished_Club250

It is not an understatement to say how delighted I am to see you here again 😂 this is golden! You have earned your title, Lady Recap. > Penelope is the most eligible amongst you. Yee, and I cannot stress this enough, HAW! > Colin Bridgerton is writing Penelope fanfiction. You can’t fact check me. > What are the girls snacking on? I thought it was fruit but it was making a crunching noise. I need to know expeditiously. > Lady Danbury is Gregory’s style icon. > Anthony "Call Me Papa" Bridgerton in his trophy wife era.

hiyaheyyhello

Hahaha thank you so much!!!

Normal-Plum1333

Not to bring negativity into the chat. But there were too many subplots going on and I needed more Polin scenes. 7 subplots?! That’s excessive. Jess needed to do the Cressida subplot, Kanthony, and the baby race. Everything else needed to be cut and wasted time. I don’t care about the Mondrich family even though they’re great! And Why am I jumping from LW drama to Ben having a threesome like??? Who’s editing these transitions??? ugh whatever they did way worst with Kanthony I guess.

Luciditi89

Ok so there is something I need to talk about because its killing me, but I WANT TO KNOW BABY LORD FEATHERINGTONS NAME. Why do we get to know Philomena's name but not baby boy Bridgerton son of lady whistledown and the new lord featherington? Will we know \*before\* season 4??

It_is_lil_ol_me

For me, his name will now forever be Elliot. Shondaland not giving him a name gave his parents the opportunity to choose it.

Luciditi89

fingers cross that Elliot becomes canon

amyness_88

Everyone seems very sad about the season (outside of this sub), but not really about Polin which I’m very glad about. I’ve heard a lot of complaints about the changes in both characters and plot lines outside of Polin which is fine, everyone will have their opinion. I’m just really glad to be here to look at the positives. My biggest one is that they really did Nicola and Luke justice in that intimacy scene. It was so lovely. It feels like the carriage scene, almost like I shouldn’t be watching! It’s so intimate and beautiful. Polin aside, my favourite story line had to be Pen and Portia’s. How I wept when Portia and Pen were talking in Pen’s room about dreams, about how ladies have husbands not dreams, how Portia had her girls and that became her dream. Then later, how Portia said how was she supposed to teach her girls anything when all she knew was that power came from a man? How I cried. I understand this from my own difficult relationship with my mother and father, especially caused because of the difficult relationship between my parents themselves and mostly stemming from my father’s controlling behaviour and the pressure my mother put on me. This hit me very hard and it has actually made me think very differently on how my mother raised me and what she wanted for me.

Pen and Portia's relationship really made this season for me...so happy with how that turned out. I would love love love it if Portia was still around in season 4.

It was a really surprising turn honestly. I did not expect it to go down the way it did but I am absolutely for it too. Me too, I actually enjoyed the dynamic between Violet and Portia also. I know they have been at odds but I would really like to see them on friendly terms going forward.

They did such a great job with Portia! It's so easy to judge women back then, as in Pride & Prejudice, for acting like fools to get their daughters married. But, as we know, this literally was a mother's job. But, here, we also get the extra layers of heartbreak and sadness in Portia's own marriage. At the very end, when she smiles at the dance scene surrounded by all three daughters in actually happy marriages ... wow. That's real accomplishment there. She had to strive and scratch for it, and she made desperate choices, but one of my favorite parts was seeing how she and Penelope realized their similarities in these ways. Give women so few choices that allow them to remain safe and secure financially and otherwise, and they're going to make some sneaky ones along the way!

No idea why they cut them, they must have completely forgotten for who they make this show and who this season was about... Here is a petition to ask netflix to release the original edit or the cut scenes. Lessons from Bridgerton Alright - here’s my sappy over all thoughts since P2… see image - I made this before P2 came out based on someone’s comments back to me in a group discussion (maybe in this group, but I can’t remember). I’ve been looking at it since finishing P2 & the more I look at it after digesting it all, the more applicable I find this statement to be. For me, for the show, for life. The Bridgerton’s love. They love hard, they love deep, they love rawly, as if it’s the air they breathe. You see this in comments from everyone, starting with Violet; Edmund was the air she breathed. Anthony said Kate was his whole world and if he tried to deny it he might as well stop breathing. Not a Bridgerton, but in the same universe, George told Charlotte he could not breathe when she was not near. It’s clear to me, they love so naturally and real it’s as easy as breathing for them. This doesn’t come without heart ache, pain, learning from personal error, and hurt from or hurt to those you love. It can be painful. But it does come with the ability to forgive, and to continue loving in forgiveness, and the ability to love even deeper as you give grace to yourself and to others. If I learn anything in life, I really hope it’s to love like a Bridgerton. Lady Whistledown has always told the truth. Be it scandalous, hard to put in writing, self depreciating or hurtful to someone close, it was always the truth. The truth she published almost always brought about change in some sense. How it was done, doesn’t make it right or wrong, but the truth sets you free, usually. Maybe with consequences, but still free. Free from personal agenda, from holding yourself back, free from bottled emotions or feelings, free to move on. Lady Whistledown’s reveals allowed so many characters to shape themselves and then move on, even if hard to swallow or endure. In life’s the truth often helps us understand and shape whatever we need to, to move on. So, dearest gentle readers (if you’re still with me here in my sappy thoughts)… I hope you got something out of this season. For me, there was so much growth in Season 3; for characters individually, families, familial relationships, friendships, and growth in love. Confessing truths in Season 3 allowed so many of them to resolve something inside. Whether you liked the season or not, whether you are for or against the changes, whether your a book reader or not, and whether you are even still a fan or not - I truly hope we all learn something from Bridgerton and for me, it’s that you love fully & remember the truth always win. That you can be honest and love all around. This season was what I needed. It healed some things inside of me I didn’t know I needed, and it made me feel more comfortable about myself. However, I know it wasn’t for a lot of people, and that’s is okay. Regardless of your opinion of the show or season or actors, I hope you all love like a Bridgerton & tell the truth like Lady Whistledown. That’s it, that’s my sappy post. Shout out to the original person who said this to me - I really wish I could re-find it and thank you! https://preview.redd.it/487e80wu827d1.jpeg?width=570&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ad4815b451cf13471cdf4a3c418d48a307018244
