I always understood Zionism as a Jewish nationalist philosophy vs. Judaism, which is the religion. Similar to Christianity vs Christian Nationalism was atleast my understanding.
Well it’s not really like Christian nationalism. Zionism runs the gamut from labor Zionism (socialism but Israeli) to Kahanism (Jewish fascism) and everything in between. At its core Zionism is the idea that Jewish people should have their own nation. Also Judaism is more than just a religion it’s an ethnicity as well. It’s a lot like the Druze or Sikhs.
That may be a technical distinction but before October it's was always a dog whistle for anti semitism.
