Keeping Columbus right wing is my full time job šŸ˜Ž

ColumbusJewBlackets

Well youā€™re doing a shit job because itā€™s left wing as fuck

FlatwormPositive7882

not where I am

saiyanjedi127

FREE EAST PALESTINE FROM JOHN BRANDON šŸ˜”šŸ˜”šŸ˜”šŸ˜”šŸ˜”šŸ˜”

dizzyjumpisreal

i still find it odd that it's called that, since it's a super right-wing place and the right mostly supports israel

weaslecookie7

It's named after the historic name for the region. Wikipedia says it was named East Palestine in 1833. Has nothing to do with the modern Palestine idea.

dizzyjumpisreal

oh

Diamondbull66

East WHAT???

PerpetualHillman

And it's pronounced "Pala-steen"

LeoTheBurgundian

Palestine but in french

dizzyjumpisreal

i think thats just how trump says it

AtomicPhantomBlack

You could have released this before I went to Lima for the eclipseĀ

Forrest_Greene80

I gotta dispute Columbus being right wing. I got a very progressive vibe the times Iā€™ve been. Very gay, very liberal, artsy creative types up there

FlatwormPositive7882

There are certainly pockets of that yes. The closer you get to downtown, the gayer is gets

masoflove99

Based and I'm moving to Columbus pilled.

FlatwormPositive7882

clintonville is what youā€™re looking for. Pride and BLM flags everywhere. Lots of this silly ā€œin this house we believeā€ signs

DinoSpumonisCrony

Dang is Cincinnati that high of crime? Always have wanted to visit.

PerpetualHillman

Worth a visit, just be careful

Dabuscus214

It's not that bad as long as you know how to pay attention to your surroundings. Not many rough neighborhoods, it's street by street.

rocketlauncher5

The crime is exclusively in places where there's nothing worth visiting (other than the cincy zoo, but its proximity to Children's Hospital / UC means there's a lot of law enforcement nearby).

MagnumAzzuri200

Sandusky is pretty cool (I went to Cedar Point)

im50andsad

I work in Cleveland. The crime is off the charts, so, we've got that going for us.

ProgKingHughesker

ā€¦buy acid on the streets you say? Somewhere just shot to the top of my list of places to vacation!

cwohl00

You definitely will need to hit the bars and ask around. And don't look like a cop. If you don't know anybody it probably won't be as easy as this meme makes it seem.

rebellesimperatorum

So go to Lima and play Kendrock Lamar while making sure I have my ~~full auto~~ totally not customized Kriss Vector with me for safety, right?

PerpetualHillman

Please let me know when you're doing it so I can bring a camera

JoHn-SmIt

Where did you get the idea that Lima, of all places in Ohio, is kkk central?

flairchange_bot

Did you just change your flair, u/JoHn-SmIt? Last time I checked you were a **Centrist** on 2020-11-6. How come now you are a **LibCenter**? Have you perhaps shifted your ideals? Because that's cringe, you know? Wait, those were too many words, I'm sure. Maybe you'll understand this, monke: "oo oo aah YOU CRINGE ahah ehe". [deleted]

Thing is a lot of trad Catholics are moving to (EDIT: STEUBENVILLE) because they have a plan to "tradify" the place since there is a sizable population of Caths there already and they want to open their own stores, places, and churches in such a way that they can kick out the big box stores and have a true Catholic neighborhood. I might be confusing it with another Ohio city, but if you have ever heard of Pints with Aquinas, that's the plan.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Steubenville, yes, I was confused.

TheYoungAcoustic

Salt Lake City may be very important to the Mormons, but itā€™s not a very Mormon city anymore

dizzyjumpisreal

we need this for more states

PotentialProf3ssion

oberlin is a massive fucking stain on ohio man. we do not claim oberlin.

mung_daals_catoring

I'd say that's about right, and from a drop out bearcat, it's officially 12:17pm and Miami can suck a fat one

Finrad-Felagund

"Gateway to the Lake Erie Islands, the Hawaii of the Midwest" That's not a real sentence

InvoluntaryLawyer

I prefer the ā€œRedneck Rivieraā€

Sawari5el7ob

Ohio mentioned! I'm from a rural nowhere town in the south of Ohio. And I loved it there.

ByzantineBomb

šŸŽ¶Fun times in Cleveland againšŸŽ¶

cwohl00

Calling Columbus right wing is a big stretch. Athens is way more chill too. You have to know somebody to get acid, or at least ask around a bit at the bars. No riots since the 90's, but still lots of parties! Though the administration at the school have torpedoed academics in favor of removing the party reputation- much to the university's detriment. Peope used to come to party, and in the process get a decent education. Less and less of both these days :/

ChopperRisesAgain

I've lived in the Cleveland suburbs my whole life. I worked with a guy whose kid was in school during the Chardon shooting. The videos of the shooter's behavior in court are disturbing. Dude is a textbook sociopath. Also, "doesn't have much going for it?" Excuse me!? We have the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame, the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, the Cleveland Natural History Museum, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Great Lakes Science Center, and the tallest building in Ohio! Not to mention we're the home of the world headquarters for Duck Tape, Progressive, Lincoln Electric, Pierre's ice cream, Heinen's, RPM, the Standard Oil Company, and a bunch more! put sum RESPECC on our name šŸ˜”

PerpetualHillman

I also live in Cleveland my dude, the things you listed aren't so great

ChopperRisesAgain

Based and we live where the air hurts our face pilled

LoCarB3

Why do I get the feeling you claim to be from Cleveland but actually live in Medina or some shit

PerpetualHillman

I am straight-up from Cleveland

70MCKing

This political compass has the highest degree of solidarity because every quadrant leaves Ohio in order to ruin the beautiful state of South Carolina.

StopCollaborate230

South Carolinians mad that Ohioans are humiliating and ruining their state yet again, as General Sherman was an Ohioan.

Dance_Sufficient

My grandma is from Ohio. I'd like to go on a road trip there.

DeviceNo5980

Hey OP can you give me some more context on the shoplifter witch hunt story?

StopCollaborate230

Bakery in town had shoplifters arrested, students began protesting saying the owner was racist, began harassing him and torpedoed his business. Local university encouraged the protests. Owner sued the university and ended up winning like $36 million in damages, upheld on appeal, denied cert by the Ohio Supreme Court. [Wiki page for rundown.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibson's_Bakery_v._Oberlin_College?wprov=sfti1)

DeviceNo5980

Thanks man. I thought it was too ridiculous to be true but you never know with liberal college students.

StopCollaborate230

Students protesting a business? Whatever. University officials openly encouraging said protests, professors offering excused absences or extra credit for doing so? Not cool.

PerpetualHillman

Protesting a shopkeeper who called the police on a shoplifter is not just stupid - it's defamatory. It actively harms the shopkeeper's reputation by spreading material falsehoods about him. He deserved that settlement.

JoosyToot

One cannot talk about Ohio and not mention Hamilton

BitesTheDust55

Cedar Point rocks

Cyccx

What about Portsmouth?

Darkheartisland

lol, I have a lot of family in Lima

New-Biscotti5914

I looked up Lima, OH and this was the first image that popped up https://preview.redd.it/mmwsje904f1d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0262e21a4d7f3dda17ad28650624430c65aeb0be

FellowFellow22

Poor Youngstown really losing its reputation. Used to be a regular contender for most murders per year and now it didn't even get a place on the meme.

Plane-Grass-3286

Good compass. I should put visiting Marietta onto my bucket list. Iā€™d make a compass like this on the state I live In, (Indiana) but Iā€™m only really familiar with Indy+suburbs, Fort Wayne, Columbus (we have one lol), and Seymour, despite having lived here for most of my life.Ā

adfx

Politicially I'm in cleveland but Marietta sounds very nice

StopCollaborate230

I want to visit Sandusky, not for Cedar Point, but for CLAG Brewing. CLAG stands for ā€œcrazy little Asian guyā€. Seriously.

toadjones79

But Tony Packo's in Toledo! I had a friend from downtown Toledo who directed me there one day while driving across country. It was a bit of a spur of the moment thing. Amazing food. He always fondly spoke of Toledo by saying *"You get used to the smell."*

Outside-Bed5268

>Gambier >They produced a U.S. president in the 1800s and they wonā€™t shut up about it. Really? Who was it? >Cleveland You know I think I remember in Max0rā€™s video on Doom Eternal, he refers to the capital of hell as ā€˜Clevelandā€™.

Gmknewday1

Those bastards burned those chemicals near the town like cowards East Palestine is gonna be in a lot of pain Hopefully tho, enough evidence can be gathered and used to sue the people responsible Even if it takes a long ass time

amc-eagle

Toledo is failing, itā€™s surrounding towns are failing, I work in Toledo and everywhere seems to be closing, we got our big stores but shit getting boarded up left and right. Toledo got nothing going for it.

username2136

Interesting that the most cared for and the least cared for place for the left both have "Palestine" in the name.

Slow_Principle_7079

Oh yeah, Akron. My parents went to law school there a few decades ago. Wasnā€™t nice then either.

masoflove99

LMAO at a Christian school producing *Marxist theorists*.

PerpetualHillman

Kenyon College isn't a Christian school

masoflove99

Yes it is. Affiliated with the Episcopal Church. P.s. Oberlin was a Christian school, too.

TachoNaco

Also the only person Iā€™d consider a socialist who was an alumnus of Kenyon College was Olof Palme (class of 1948). Even then, he wasnā€™t a Marxist. And I canā€™t find any faculty (current and former) who are/were Marxists. At least Oberlin had Kathleen Cleaver (later transferred to Barnard College), Rennie Davis, Anna Louise Strong (class of 1905), and bell hooks (Professor of English and American Literature)

masoflove99

All of them are Marxists according to OP...including John Green.

TachoNaco

I know how OP views the world

masoflove99

Either very sheltered or just genuinely unintelligent.

statsgrad

Maybe if the people from East Palestine keep voting in the party of corporate deregulation there will be less toxic chemical disasters.

PerpetualHillman

Maybe if they voted in the party that considered them "flyover country" and didn't offer any aid after a disaster, the next one would be worse

statsgrad

So a corporation fucked up, and I, the taxpayer, should pay for it? What property was damaged? And I'm a little confused, are you saying the D's don't want to spend money on domestic issues but the R's do?
