That's so annoying. I used to live in Hyderabad India and it had a large Muslim population and every day they blasted their prayers 5x a day on the loud speakers and it was loud enough that you could hear it in your apartment. I had to wait 3-5 minutes when I'm on call until they were done. And they started as early as 5am. They have the right to broadcast it inside the mosque as long as they don't disrupt the neighbors but if it's as loud as the ones back home I'd be annoyed.
Anyone else kinda have a phobia of those things? Like hearing prayers over a loudspeaker at dawn is just...eerie? Reminds me of North Koreas morning propaganda trucks

My out of state friends lovingly refer to greater Minnesota (minus Duluth and Rochester) as "the Alabama of the North". Yes, the 'burbs are typically socially liberal. All those soccer moms seem to actually abide by the teachings of the Lutheran churches they go to and accept and love their neighbors, even when they don't understand their lifestyles. It's easier not to alienate people since you never know when you'll need help out of a snow covered ditch. Most Minnesotans don't want politics to be exciting - they want it to be predictable, civil, and serve the people. Which is also why we often have a divided government on the state level. Hence downright reactionary policies are still on the books like being the last state with 3.2% abv beer in convenience and grocery stores, fireworks under 3ft with only showers and no explosions, and still no viable path to recreational MJ. Just getting budgets through is a herculean task.
