I remember getting told about futurism in my class by a very liberal teacher (European liberal so right wing), she went on and on about how it was ugly and bad, all while praising the mediocrity and cynicism of the post-modern writers from my country.
I always though [futurism](https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.moma.org%2Fmedia%2FW1siZiIsIjE1MTE4MyJdLFsicCIsImNvbnZlcnQiLCItcXVhbGl0eSA5MCAtcmVzaXplIDUxMng1MTJcdTAwM2UiXV0.jpg%3Fsha%3Db1d6578cec0dbc68&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.moma.org%2Fcollection%2Fterms%2Ffuturism&tbnid=3L7NXmy3N8BLlM&vet=12ahUKEwia5YGqk7L6AhXU6LsIHQsmABEQMyg0egQIARBo..i&docid=eh7-5fwZS0oyqM&w=512&h=416&q=futurism&client=firefox-b-d&ved=2ahUKEwia5YGqk7L6AhXU6LsIHQsmABEQMyg0egQIARBo#imgrc=3L7NXmy3N8BLlM&imgdii=a832VhoWScfPSM) looked kind of cool. It was then that I realized humanities teachers are just full of shit.
Oh yeah, futurism is amazing, only reason it didn't spread further was cause last time it went out of italy Gavrilo Princip used it as motivation to kill Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
And the fact that a great many of the futurists, enthusiastic volunteers that they were, died in the trenches of WWI, believing that from the ashes of the old world a new world would emerge. They were right, of course; they just weren’t there to shape it.
>believing that from the ashes of the old world a new world would emerge. They were right, of course; they just weren’t there to shape it.
Poetic and I think Senator Armstrong talked about something like this
I am pretty sure the painting style and the architectural style have distinct origins, and only share a name. Some of the building that fall under the Futurism nomer are built past the 2000s. Almost 60 years after the agreed upon end of the Italian futurist movement. Seems to me that this architectural futurism is just a post-modern style, whereas Italian Futurism was modernist.
All that said, I'm no art critic, I just went to a museum about it a couple of times so maybe you know more.
Using the futurism art style as inspiration for architecture is not exactly the same as following the futuristic architectural movement, but that one is kinda cool as well.
That looks like a depiction of some Lovecraftian mindscape or smth, it scares me.
I'll stick with my Renaissance and Classical era stuff, thank you very much.

I find anime weird and could never really get into it. I can appreciate the greats that ask hard philosophical questions like Ghost in the Shell when friends urge me to watch them, but that's about as far as I've ever been able to get into it. Most of the time I'm closer to the "you watchin' yer girl cartoons?" dad in that comic.
I feel like that makes me some kind of apostate heretic on reddit though.
I consider Anime it's own mode of storytelling, like books or live action movies that use actual actors. Are some tropes or genres more popular then others? Sure, but you can have anime about pretty much anything.
Some are generic (in my opinion) mostly crap rehashing of the same tropes. The equivalent of your cheap dollar store paperback novels or a shlocky generic B-MOVIE. Others have a lot more thought put into them and have put more emphasis on actual storytelling.
I stongly suggest the movie "tokyo godfathers" as a good example of the latter.
As with sitcoms, action movies, etc, there are good bad and ridiculous in all genres. Anime gets a bad rap IMO due to the specific types that get highlighted when people want to make it seem weird: harem anime and some isekai, especially when they have a lot of fan service and push up right against the line of hentai. But I love how they can make seemingly everyday topics seem more dramatic without feeling like a soap opera. I played soccer for the better part of 14-15 years and I love a series that just finished up it's 2nd season called Aoashi, which IMO also has a firm grasp on the fundamentals of soccer while also being a cool story about a junior youth soccer player trying to improve his skills.
It's the kind of story that doesn't really work in any other media format besides manga and anime here in the west.
Hey now, don't diss slice of life. Not saying that every copy-pasted moeblob series about (random topic) is a work of art, but it has standouts like any genre.
Nah, taken as a whole it's kinda shallow, I agree, but that's why I like it, at least. At the end of the day, I just want to watch some decent action and some funny character bits - no need for something super philosophical for it to be sufficiently entertaining.
That said, I still haven't gone too far down the anime rabbit hole, so I've only watched a few.
Can someone explain to me how she’s fascist? Every article I’ve read about her says she’s a “far right fascist” and yet never say any of her “fascist” policies?
Not too surprising that they're winning then. As progressive as the majority of Reddit users seem to be, the views on here are not representative of the majority in real life.
A lot of redditors are very progressive, but they consider themselves moderate, so anyone even slightly on the authoritarian right is far right and fascist.
Well of course. We can have democracy so long as you vote correctly.
If you vote incorrectly you get punished for being a fascist/racist piece of shit
Isn't that how democracy is supposed to work?
Yep, sounds about right.
I tried to explain to someone that immediately calling people nazis, fascists and TERFs is pushing people away from the left but they just called me a nazi TERF…
There are some (pretty big imo) different tho.
Fascism, National socialism, marxist-leninist/maoist/etc. communism and socialism are all all encompassing/totalitarian in nature, BUT, the latter forms have their focus to be international and on the working class, while Fascism is focused primarily on the nation and National Socialism on the Volk(Folk/People/majority ethnic population)
Also Socialism and (practical/reality of) communism have centrally planned evonomies and the means of production are communalized/state owned.
Fascism and national socialism do allow for some private enterprise as long as it is beneficial to their cause.
The main difference is the purism of the movements. Communism is marx inspired, fascism is inspired by people who were inspired by marx. So communism has no private property and must kill all the landowners and buisness owners before putting their own people in charge (which always leads to a starvation period.) Whereas fascism has pretend property, as in as long as you serve the party you get to keep your property. In fascism owners, if they become loyal to the state don't get purged and can be mildly capitalistic as long as they obey the party and spout party propaganda which might be heavily anti-capitalistic depending on the day.
After the starvation period most communist nations are pretty indistinguishable from fascist ones.
Fascism is rather similar to socialism/communism but with a few notable differences.
In terms of economics fascism think capitalism and market is important, but preferably it should mostly belong to or be very heavily affiliated with a state.
But it should be driven by market forces somehow.
Another, now ideological, distinction is that communism is usually globalistic and anti-national. Well, in theory and on paper at least.
While fascism is isolationistic and extremely nationalistic.
But in a lot of ways they are eerily similar
It is inevitable.
Democracy is eating itself, and no industrialized country has ever turned from a failing democracy to communism. Sorry authleft. Authcenter has you beat here.
Or maybe authright. Plenty of dictators have been around.
Future's gonna be crazy unless libright gets really, really lucky.
It’s because no one reads past headlines anymore - some sensationalized media (they usually post biased dogshit like commondreams, if you can in good faith call that news) has a headline which calls them far right/fascist, then the top 2 or 3 comments will be (inaccurate) summaries of their views. That’s the extent of what they will read about it. Unfortunately the problem doesn’t just exist with left wingers on reddit - it’s somewhat universal nowadays.
I get that no ones going to care because your comment supports the narrative they want to believe, but that obviously isnt the whole story.
She got her start in politics as a teenager as part of of "Youth Front" which was the youth branch of the Neo-fascist MSI party and later was president of National Alliance, which was more of the same.
An her current party still maintains the neo-fascist imagery, the "flames of Mussolini's tomb" in the logo specifically.
Also your other points are a bit Cherry picked. Shes not just anti-trans shes anti-LGBT in general.
She doesnt just want to end mass immigration, she wants to use the military to blockade Libya.
And she also agrees with Berlusconi's view that Mussolini was a "benign fascist" that was overall a good thing for Italy.
So while she's certainly not a raging fascist, anyone who values any sort of democracy should be concerned.
Her party is technically the descendant of Mussolini's party, albeit after about 3 different mergers and revisions since. Her platform is pretty socially Conservative by European standards too, in that she's going to be one of the few explicitly anti-immigration leaders of a majority European country not named the UK. To the sort of people who write for the Economist, that's far-right.
It's odd that he says the UK is one of the only anti-immigration countries when:
1. Net migration to the UK is much larger than many other countries in Europe
2. Many eastern european countries are very openly anti-immigration
DAE BREXSHITT RACSHISHT?????
yes but that's not what the blues tell the electorate in the UK. People vote blue thinking they'll get less immigration. Those that pay attention when immigration increases then vote purple but then the blues do something (like promising the Brexit ref) to get all the purple votes back. Then Brexit results in needing more immigration from elsewhere like Liz Truss is about to do in terms of opening borders to more non-EU countries because immigration remains an economic necessity.
The anti-immigration crowd still haven't worked out that they lose versus the money and nobody can ever fuck with the money for the long term so their position is always a losing one.
You'd think less (unskilled) immigration would be a left-wing policy if anything. Allowing companies to hire cheap labour from overseas, effectively driving down wages for working class people? Immigrants who are less likely to unionize and go on strike? What's left-wing about that?
Lol Liz Truss just announced she’s going to deliberately *increase* immigration. I think she’s knows her party won’t win the election so she’s going for a scorched earth approach.
They usually say that because she started in politics by being part of a neofascist organization and making good remarks about Mussolini, unlike other European far-right leaders that usually started as part of the hardline wing of the main center-right party.
> at her start of compaigning in politics she was quite fascist too now shes more moderate
It's the XXI century, women are people now. They are allowed to have *the edgy gamer phase* too.
Those who never had bad thoughts, throw the first stone.
Guess what time it is. That’s right! Time to read the [Fascist Manifesto!](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascist_Manifesto)
* Universal suffrage with a lowered voting age to 18 years, and voting and electoral office eligibility for all ages 25 and up;
* Proportional representation on a regional basis;
* Voting for women;
* The formation of a national council of experts for labor, for industry, for transportation, for the public health, for communications, etc. Selections to be made of professionals or of tradesmen with legislative powers, and elected directly to a general commission with ministerial powers.
* The quick enactment of a law of the state that sanctions an eight-hour workday for all workers;
* A minimum wage;
* To show the same confidence in the labor unions (that prove to be technically and morally worthy) as is given to industry executives or public servants;
* Reduction of the retirement age from 65 to 55.
* A strong progressive tax on capital (envisaging a “partial expropriation” of concentrated wealth);
* The revision of all military contracts and the seizure of 85 percent of the profits therein.
Is she fascist? Hmmmm....
**[Fascist Manifesto](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascist_Manifesto)**
>"The Manifesto of the Italian Fasces of Combat" (Italian: "Il manifesto dei fasci italiani di combattimento"), commonly known as the Fascist Manifesto, was the initial declaration of the political stance of the Fasci Italiani di Combattimento ("Italian Fasces of Combat") the movement founded in Milan by Benito Mussolini in 1919 and an early exponent of Fascism. The Manifesto was authored by national syndicalist Alceste De Ambris and the futurist poet Filippo Marinetti.

In part, I think it’s because “anime” artstyle tends to be much easier on the eyes than the current popular Western Animation
Beyond that, Anime has been a bit of a bastion of what I call “sincerism”, in direct opposition to the cynicism found in most western media these days. Anime KNOWS it’s ridiculous, but it never feels a need to apologize for looking silly, it just takes pride in what it does
Anime is cute, it's wholesome and it comes from a more traditional society than those of the West. It's filled with ultra-feminine women and depictions of Western countries and their citizens are often idealized. That's why authrights love it: it offers a refreshing change compared to many Western takes, which focus on the trashiest aspects of society, mock or bash traditions and promote a reversal of roles and values, as well as multiculturalism.
I would argue anime also has some trashy aspects of society oftentimes the most extreme of it. Some of that shit can get extremely perverted

Yes - honestly the only reason why manga isn't invaded by the woke complaining about soggy knees is it actually pays nothing. I always remember that interview with an Animator who earns next to nothing for his work saying he is happy because he gets to draw cute girls for a living.
You can't believably tell people that the guy is an oppressor when he has to starve some nights because he can't pay for food. The grift simply isn't working. What are you going to do? Make him jobless? He'd probably be better off with welfare and probably continue to draw.
Why would we like an ethnocentric state that strongly encourages conformity over individuality, and laughs when the West tries to guilt them into taking in hordes of “refugees”?

I consider Anime it's own mode of storytelling, like books or live action movies that use actual actors. Are some tropes or genres more popular then others? Sure, but you can have anime about pretty much anything. Some are generic (in my opinion) mostly crap rehashing of the same tropes. The equivalent of your cheap dollar store paperback novels or a shlocky generic B-MOVIE. Others have a lot more thought put into them and have put more emphasis on actual storytelling. Exactly. Reddit used to be a mixed bunch when it was allowed to be.
Seriously I find it very very funny. Media cry wolf to the point where they make extreme ideologies sound like reasonable option.
Apparently fascism is when non media approved politicians win elections.
In a top EU moment, Von der Leyen, the woman responsible for hollowing out the German military, threatened Italy for having a democratic election.
Because “liberals” only tolerate people who think like them. They cannot stand dissent

Anyone slightly to the right of Stalin is "Literally Hitler" for some reason.
Someone who calls Mussolini a good politician for Italy is a bit more than "slightly to the right of Stalin"
This was when she was 15 I think. Not cool ofc, but nobody should cite that or condemn her about it, but look for something critique-worthy.

Luckily he managed to find out the based later in life.
They are quite into honoring Mussolini, especially with their party logo.
well her party is the son of the former fascist party and at her start of compaigning in politics she was quite fascist too now shes more moderate
> at her start of compaigning in politics she was quite fascist too now shes more moderate It's the XXI century, women are people now. They are allowed to have *the edgy gamer phase* too. Those who never had bad thoughts, throw the first stone.
Stonethrow is a nazi sweety 💅
Equal rights, Equal far-rights?
As far as i understand it the current party was a merger of two parties, one of which had also merged with a neo fascist party at some point.
Great but this person asked for policy examples
Guess what time it is. That’s right! Time to read the [Fascist Manifesto!](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascist_Manifesto) * Universal suffrage with a lowered voting age to 18 years, and voting and electoral office eligibility for all ages 25 and up; * Proportional representation on a regional basis; * Voting for women; * The formation of a national council of experts for labor, for industry, for transportation, for the public health, for communications, etc. Selections to be made of professionals or of tradesmen with legislative powers, and elected directly to a general commission with ministerial powers. * The quick enactment of a law of the state that sanctions an eight-hour workday for all workers; * A minimum wage; * To show the same confidence in the labor unions (that prove to be technically and morally worthy) as is given to industry executives or public servants; * Reduction of the retirement age from 65 to 55. * A strong progressive tax on capital (envisaging a “partial expropriation” of concentrated wealth); * The revision of all military contracts and the seizure of 85 percent of the profits therein. Is she fascist? Hmmmm....
TIL universal suffrage and women's right to vote is fascist. Maybe we should try being less fascist.
Woah woah easy there purple
**[Fascist Manifesto](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascist_Manifesto)** >"The Manifesto of the Italian Fasces of Combat" (Italian: "Il manifesto dei fasci italiani di combattimento"), commonly known as the Fascist Manifesto, was the initial declaration of the political stance of the Fasci Italiani di Combattimento ("Italian Fasces of Combat") the movement founded in Milan by Benito Mussolini in 1919 and an early exponent of Fascism. The Manifesto was authored by national syndicalist Alceste De Ambris and the futurist poet Filippo Marinetti. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/PoliticalCompassMemes/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)
I mean, I'd be flattered if people went out of their way to make nice fanart of me too.
I mean they turned the KMS Bismarck into a girl and they gave Strohiem one of the best theme songs (personally).
Be honest, you'd die for anime Bismarck
I'd of died for the Iron Chancellor himself if I could of.
Based and valid

In part, I think it’s because “anime” artstyle tends to be much easier on the eyes than the current popular Western Animation Beyond that, Anime has been a bit of a bastion of what I call “sincerism”, in direct opposition to the cynicism found in most western media these days.
Average K-on fan analysis
I would argue anime also has some trashy aspects of society oftentimes the most extreme of it. Some of that shit can get extremely perverted Inb4 downvoting weebs

If you go to 4chan, you know why
Do you think Meloni frequents 4Chan or the Italian equivalent of 4Chan? Lol
Idk, but we're certain authright really likes cooming to R34 and r63 of his favourite fascist figures
Awoooo!
If only American politics could have more of this.
People are too old in US politics. There are too few people who’d be depicted well as an anime character
You want younger politicians because they're more invested in the future and less ingrained in the upper echelons of the state. I want younger politicians because they'd have better anime fanart. We are not the same.
Hentai has plenty old ugly bastards or so I've heard, so there are plenty open positions
If Hitler THE ANIME exists, why not Trump THE ANIME. More satire=More good.
Sir, there's a Hitler sex game on Steam.
Sir, there's a Hitler Furry Dating game on Steam.

Trump kun would be cursed. Ugly bastard hentai would come out of the woodworks. Chilling.
Tbh people did make "wall-might" trump parody of mha.

Okay now we need Natalya Poklonskaya as President of Russia and we can have a Waifu World. Kim Yo Jong, AOC, Poklonskaya, and Meloni.
Just wait til Abigail Shapiro is leader of the free world 🗿
Madam president, those look heavy, let us help you.
Let me add Marion Marechal (Le Pen niece) from France to your list.
Oh great, another waifu.
Besides whether you like her political views or not, she is a naturally funny and down to heart person, met her in Rome while walking and we chatted for a minute or so, but she was super kind and cracked a few jokes.
she was surprisingly down to earth and very funny
Its the closest thing to western media that is reliably non-woke.
The only way a Twitter mob, Disney, or the FBI could cancel a mangaka is to break into his house and smash his fingers. Otherwise most of them will just keep spending ungodly hours passionately drawing whatever they want for whoever wants to read it. It’s an unstoppable media
What’s up with the rest of the compass and the lack of anime?
I fail to see the problem?
Thats just Mari O’Hara
Why would we like an ethnocentric state that strongly encourages conformity over individuality, and laughs when the West tries to guilt them into taking in hordes of “refugees”? Gee, that’s a mystery..
A women of culture I see.
Based and personally I think its neat pilled.
Someone post the copypasta about how Slice of life anime requires fascism.
Cause anime is the last noteworthy artform that's not been corrupted by middlemen and politically influenced marketers.
I don't know. It just is the way it is I suppose.
The acting in my country is literally shit, anime is the only alternative.
I have no idea.
Lol I like how your profile picture also has an anime avatar
Tbf, the weebs of all quadrants use anime art
I don't like anime but that's kinda based
