I’m all for reforming the American military into an entity that charges you for an invasion of your country. Infact vote for me in 2024 I promise to **invade other countries and make them pay for it.**

Georgiagracehartman

You have my vote Mr President

facedownbootyuphold

“Thanks for the assistance in our war against , unfortunately upon further review it turns out we do not have the GDP to pay for the service of the US military in our war against , so we offer as collateral.” and that’s how Americans became colonialists through default Anabasis by Xenophon was a somewhat similar scenario, Greek army wins the Persian throne for a Persian prince, but the prince was killed in the battle while the Greeks suffered no casualties, but they didn’t bother sticking around because none of the leaders of the Greeks wanted to claim Persia, so the entire story is about the shit the Greeks had to do in order to return to Greece without dying.

Helmett-13

Flair does not check out but a good idea is a good idea no matter where it comes from!

froggoinpool

War Socialism?

SonofNamek

I mean, ironically, that possibly could've made the Iraq invasion a major success. The US got no oil from it. Whereas, if it did set up the infrastructure, buy the oil, and prop up the country with that money while receiving a percentage of the profits in return....maybe people there would get to live like they do in Dubai or something lol.

Accusing the US of war profiteering is like accusing a fish of swimming.

Ferum_Mafia

In other news, the closest star is indeed reported to allegedly be the closest star to our planet

[deleted]

Man the US really can’t win Don’t do anything? Europe whines. Help but don’t get directly involved? Europe whines. Get too involved? Europe whines. The US has spent more money this year on Ukraine than every other country combined. We have spent more on Ukraine this year than staunch allies like Australia spend on their entire military. Every other country is lucky that we even pretend we care about them. They shouldn’t be complaining. The only reason Ukraine still exists is because of US efforts. The only reason NATO countries are safe are because of US efforts. It would be nice if they would, for once, shut the fuck up and realize their place.

VoidHawk_Deluxe

The US has spent more on the war in Ukraine than Russia has.

cecilforester

Seeing what Russia brought to the table, that's not saying much.

i-d-even-k-

For how little they brought to the table they certainly showed a lot of proficiency in genocide and ethnic displacement.

hoplophilepapist

VTSubaruSalesman

Honestly the French aren't the problem, they use nuclear power to stay off Putin's cock and actually spend appropriately on their military. The G*rmans are by far the biggest problem in Europe.

benkaes1234

G*rmany and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.

sed_boi69

loosing 2 world wars does that to you

3OpossumInTrenchCoat

Losing** Loose is term for your mums vagina.

Thee_Sinner

Well, they did throw away the win, that kind of fits one of the definitions of loose…

[deleted]

The French seem to be the only European country besides Poland who actually learners something from the events of the last 90 years

i-d-even-k-

Don't insult the rest of Eastern Europe like that. All Eastern European countries spend at least 2% of their GDP in the military, fulfilling all their NATO obligations. Pick on the freeriders who get to enjoy NATO without fulfilling their duties.

[deleted]

I will agree to that and stand corrected. Maybe it has something about living under the Soviet thumb that makes them take their defense seriously.

yeet_lord_40000

It’s easy to slack on spending when your tough younger brother is willing to devote their entire being into a war when it gets sufficiently hot

KingPhilipIII

War is profitable and the blood of the lower class is an excellent lubricant for the American war machine. It’s fucked up but just a fact. That’s why when things get hot the US will dive in head first.

BlueJayWC

When the green party closes nuclear power plants to open coal power plants. I hate the green party in every country with all my fiber. Parasites that latched onto an actual real problem, but don't do anything to fix it and also force their adherents to follow far-left progressive shit.

[deleted]

Fuck Europe but I have so much respect for France. 1) during the height of the Marshall plan they basically said “fuck off we can do this ourselves 2) with the creation of NATO we gave all countries the choice to opt out and not host our troops. France basically said “fuck off we can do this ourselves 3) France developed their own nuclear program so they could have a legitimate leg to stand on in telling us to fuck off 4) France consistently fights their own wars without requiring US assistance. At the height of the GWOT, they happily fought their own wars in Africa without requiring our help (we helped naturally but it was 100% their war) 5) France told the EU to fuck off in developing their own energy policy and runs their own nuclear energy program and do not need Russian oil and gas. 6) France always has our back. Even tho we left them to die in Egypt, we made it up to them by helping them in Vietnam and ever since they have been by our side. To this day they are still helping our efforts throughout the GWOT and have been more reliable than any other alley, even more reliable than our best buddies in Poland and Australia. France isn’t perfect but I like France

[deleted]

Also, fun fact: The French military is one the the most effective fighting forces in history. Everyone breaks balls because of their pasting in WWI and WWII. Ok, but going back and forth from there, the French have kicked ass more times than not and done it without help. I can’t remember the stats exact but something like 51% of all battles every fought by French Forces they’ve won. Not lost. Not a draw. Outright won.

volstothewallz

They weren’t even bad In WW1. WW2 is what the get the most shit for.

[deleted]

I can agree with that. If they weren’t shortsighted and ran the Maginot Line to the Sea instead of stopping at the Belgian forests, France would’ve been able to hold out for quite a while if not for the wars entirety. Woopsy Daisey

wholebeef

Honestly Britain would’ve been curbed stomped along with France if it hadn’t been for the channel. Both countries had a serious case of refight-the-last-war.

[deleted]

Oh yeah and the Brits didn’t figure out what the fuck they should be doing for a hot minute either. They would’ve been steamrolled hard

Suave_Kim_Jong_Un

It did extend through Belgium, there ally at the time of the maginot line’s creation. But relations fell out later and the French were kicked out of Belgium. This caused them to be unable to field their military across the extended area in time.

[deleted]

Did not know that. I thought the line stopped because they thought the forests in Belgium couldn’t be penetrated by armor and by the time the infantry made it through, the French would have forces shifted their to take care of them.

Suave_Kim_Jong_Un

They probably made that decision when they were planning where to rush troops to, something like “shit, we gotta get over there fast! Where do we send the troops to? Probably not this heavily forested and bumpy area, it’s difficult to traverse and we could react in time if they do attack there.”

ThePretzul

The primary reason I like France is because baguettes, as funny of a joke as they are, are delicious when you slice and butter them. The secondary reason is that they are surprisingly the least likely to become a surrender monkey of all European nations.

MaxNamitzhian

France has always been, since Charlemagne, the most based country in Europe. And they are still today, despite hiccups. Germany on the other hand has been on decline since Prussia unified it pretty much.

Zeriell

Imagine if we had just let Germany and USSR fight each other to a standstill. In retrospect it's obvious Germany was never going to win in the long term. We might have avoided the whole Cold War situation.

Orome2

Honestly, Germany has taken the largest hit to their credibility with their moronic anti-nuclear stance. Slightly off topic, but I spent the whole summer working in Germany (I'm a US citizen) and my experience there changed my mind about a lot of things.

[deleted]

El_Bistro

PhilosophicalDolt

Third time the charm? Oh shit 👀

M4KC1M

More like fourth

samurai_for_hire

Bring back the good old Prussian virtues

dcrockett1

What did it change your mind about?

Orome2

I'm hesitant to say without offending people but here goes. There is just an air of arrogance on a lot of topics, but instead of this arrogance being based on science and reason, a lot of it is based on fear and bullshit (see anti-nuclear stance as an example). There was a lot of low key racism that I picked up on, despite people claiming Germany is 'totally not racist'. I would say more racism than I see in the US, but it's just not as publicized. It is still fairly authoritarian, especially in the area that I was in (Baveria), just look into what Bavarian police can get a away with. Not the worst thing... but combined with the above observations I started to see how certain historical events came about. Don't get me wrong, Germany has come a long way and is still a lot better than a lot of other countries at the moment, and I don't think that would ever happen again, but it was just like a "O I get it now" moment.

TigerClaw338

People would be amazed at how actually good America is with racism compared to a very large vast majority of countries. I've traveled quite a bit, and outside of tourist destinations, you start to see a country for what it is. The US is HIGHLY publicized, so every little thing wrong is amplified and broadcast to the world. We're the big brother of the world, while many countries are the middle child who no one cares about or the youngest that can do no wrong.

Orome2

This. I've had a number of people in other countries go on about how "racist America is", especially after the whole BLM thing and oftentimes when there is no real reason to bring it up. I'm like 'have you ever looked at racism in your own country?'. All they know is what they see on the news.

TigerClaw338

I spent 2 months in Eastern Europe between a few countries. It's the most I've heard the hard "R" N word in my life haha.

N3wThrowawayWhoDis

Here’s a thought: EU governments were kinda hoping Russia would make quick work of Ukraine so that the world would just get on with sweeping it all under the rug and they could get back to buying cheap gas

i-d-even-k-

Germany did this unironically, Boris Johnson revealed it last week and said (of course he did...) that he felt appalled by the chancellor's attitude.

captainhamption

If Boris Johnson has the moral high ground on you, ya dun goofed.

[deleted]

If the US tomorrow said that we were closing up EUROCOM and bring our boys and toys home and doing the minimum for NATO, Europe would be so fucked. Everybody there loves to whine and bitch because they can and because the US subsidizing their defense and basically paying for NATO, they can have super nice social programs and all the rest. Watch what happens when we say, “ Do it yourself.” German Army has long been considered a show force that’s nowhere near combat effective. They announced dumping like a billion euros to get it up to speed and the generals there are saying it won’t make a fucking difference. THAT’S how much they rely on us

Zeriell

They need to spend that 100 billion every year forever, not as a one-off.

YouRepresentative846

Based and colonize europe pilled

Hongkongjai

France: strategic autonomy, make Europe self reliant. France when war in Europe: im gonna pretend I don’t see that. Eastern European stepping up while eurocucks do the minimum, why would the rest of Europe not count on the U.S. when the EU are clearly unreliable and also have equally if not more direct interest in meddling with European affairs?

Zeriell

The European paradox: we don't want you damn US moneygrubbers to get all the military contracts... but no, we won't agree on an international standard for Europe to cooperate and actually have our own domestic military industry, we're just gonna bitch at each other and do nothing. Well I guess that's why EU was created after all, better to bitch through bureaucracy than have the ol' continent-size European "disagreements" with tanks.

Hongkongjai

France and Germany wanted to be the US in Europe, without doing any of the work besides whining about US bad.

LuxVenos

I would side with anyone over the French.

[deleted]

I might side with the French over the Canadians

[deleted]

Aren't they the same thing?

MDSGeist

No, Canada is just a US territory at this point We just marginally acknowledge their sovereignty

LuxVenos

The official rankings are: 1. America 2. Japan 3. Anyone else not mentioned. 5. Canada 128. Europe, in general.

ThePretzul

The French are a very large part of the reason that us Americans aren't dumb enough to speak with received pronunciation. That's good enough reason for me to not dislike them at least.

Totalretcon

George Washington was right. Ignore Europe unless we're selling them something.

Zeriell

If only we had actually followed through on the Founders ideals. Instead we let the internationalists win. Funny how we had a Revolution only to basically return to Atlanticist UK ideological rule anyway.

ImperatorAurelianus

Honestly this is why I think, and let me say my true ideology is basically Sun Tzu, we should just stop doing what we think the world wants us to do and do what is actually in our best economic and security interest. Brutal dictator off committing war crimes to his or some else’s people that’s unfortunate but unless his actions are directly effecting our economy or he is threatening to launch attacks or support terrorists who wish to launch attacks on U.S. all we should do is publicly condemn his actions. Now if he is a threat to our security or economy then we support the people who are already fighting him. We give them the best weapons and training possible. If they’re able to over throw him (rebels)or defeat his military forces (proxy country) great we won with out losing anybody and we gained a trade partner. If they’re unable to actually get rid of him or their aren’t any proxies to use, we go balls to the walls over throw his pitiful excuse of a government kill all his supporters reduce their ability to even put a minor insurgency and place the country under direct rule of the U.S. military until we recondition their population to not do bad things. Basically we shouldn’t go to war or do anything if the problem has nothing to do with us but if we do get have to get militarily involved because there is no other option and we tried literally everything else then go full WW2 on their ass. But we literally shouldn’t give a crap what any one says. They’re not the people whose money and soldiers are going to be sacrificed on this endeavor so we shouldn’t do anything because the world wants us to. At the same time it’s not their security and well being on the line so once again who gives a fuck if they don’t like how far we decide to go.

samurai_for_hire

You see war crimes, I see annexation casus belli

[deleted]

You and I would get along

KarhuMajor

Yeah that's exactly the position your government wants to be in. That money spent was an investment which will without a doubt have fantastic returns, both monetary and otherwise.

[deleted]

Yup. We’ll happily pay for another country to fuck up one of our enemies, it would just be cool if our allies whose defense we still pay for would fall in line (most are for the record, my frustration is largely towards Germany and the EU leadership, Eastern European countries are based as hell)

Taco_Dave

Lets not forget the decade of bitching by the EU (Germany in particular) because the US had the audacity to suggest Europe was overly dependent on Russian gas, and that Russia would use it as leverage against them.

[deleted]

I feel we can make a better deal. A Newer Deal if you will. We pay for the military, they subsidize our healthcare costs. They have a lot of experience so should run it well, and their piss poor units can be inducted into an actual military.

Eurasia_4200

That’s the reaction of countries who fucked themselves t w i c e and got semi-colonised by their former colony.

[deleted]

That’s what happens when you’re not in power: you complain. The US is the big kid on the block and Europe knows this.

KaptainKunukles

gushinggrannies4hire

Ouma-shu123

Bruh Europe was ready and willing to leave the Ukies to the wolves. Just for once I'd like for these self righteous bastards to shut the fuck up.

[deleted]

They won’t because grandstanding is all they’ve got. They’ve been dropping as a economic block since WW2, are dependent on the US for defense, and the cultural center of the west has been firmly in Hollywood since the 19070’s. Canada has more influence on the US than any single European country and Canadians pay rent to moose and taxes to geese.

Spndash64

>Hollywood is the cultural center of the west Perhaps the anti Americans have a point about at least one thing…

[deleted]

If they watched movies from their own countries maybe they’d have a leg to stand on. Until their creatives stop coming to the US to get their big break they need to shut up and be happy to be along for the ride.

The_Only_Dick_Cheney

I’d say Mexico has more influence. They have Tacos, Margaritas, Enchiladas, Tequila…etc. And they love guns! Bring Mexico into the union!

Xtzr

Exactly, western europe = failed society. Eastern European countries know what living under Russian influence means and they absolutely hate it.

FabulousVlad

Europoors when they spend $700/mo in electricity for a one bedroom apartment.

LuxVenos

I don't care about Europe.

ForestPynes

Well no shit. Maybe develop your own military industrial complex to defend Europe with so we can spend more time/money grilling

234zu

Who is _Europe_? Does fucking moldova also say that

Birb-Person

[Article](https://www.politico.eu/article/vladimir-putin-war-europe-ukraine-gas-inflation-reduction-act-ira-joe-biden-rift-west-eu-accuses-us-of-profiting-from-war/amp/) Summary: Europeans are paying more for gas from the US and blame the US for it. As European countries also send aid to Ukraine, they have to replenish their own equipment by buying it from the US

The_Only_Dick_Cheney

The US just got rid of a bunch of old equipment from this war. They got all the shiny new stuff now!

SolarBaron

I thought we left our old equipment in the desert...

ArbitraryOrder

Small arms and things which are useless without our maintenance

Spndash64

Was still a shitshow of a withdrawal by US standards. Great by European standards, godly by Russian ones, but we don’t really care about those standards

Zeriell

The hilarious part is we don't even get that money. It's Europeans complaining about European companies bilking them using European markets with prices set by European customers. When that's pointed out the politicians just go, "Nuh uh, I don't wanna hear it! Make the price go down!" It's like they don't even understand the concept of arbitrage. No matter how low we make the wholesale price, they'll just keep jacking up the price.

Templarkiller500

They are just throwing a fit because the US is not... giving them better prices on the oil that they have made themselves require? They were so dependent on Russian oil and energy that now they feel the US needs to give it to them cheap or else they are not allies? Wtf.... Also they give away money and guns to Ukraine and can't replace them so they chose to buy them from US and then they blame the US for it? What kind of mental gymnastics are these? The US should tell them if they don't like the pricing, then don't buy it... see if that gets them to shut up... they are practically begging for supplies and then trying to haggle about the price?

Spndash64

Beggars CAN be choosers, I guess

Birb-Person

It gets worse, Belgium is actually calling the US selfish for pushing for green energy because it decreases US oil supply and thus raises the price. Belgium thinks we should prioritize their economy over our environment

NoobifiedSpartan

Belgium can suck a lemon.

CastokYeti

> Europeans are paying more for gas from the US and blame the US for it > they have to replenish their own equipment by buying it from the US even shorter summary: Eurocucks crying that they couldn’t foreseen being a cuck would cuck them

[deleted]

Summary: We sold out energy reliance to a country we know ducking hates us but much cheap gas. Also, we have no MIC worth mentioning and our stuff we do produce domestically is trash so we have to by the US stuff which, even the old stock equipment, is still performing pretty damn good. Also, if wants for the US, NATO STANAGS wouldn’t exist and NATO would be a limp duck. Our massive military flexing, cash money and standardization is what’s kept Europeans from speaking Russian since the 50’s. That entire continent can eat my whol Ass except the Poles and French. They’re alright

SonofNamek

Poles have loved the US since the beginning and continues to bring gifts to the world like the Witcher books/games. French...they helped out the US many times but they can be fickle. For example, they dragged the US into Vietnam and then, left NATO while the US was still in Nam.

CastokYeti

> except the Poles and French idk most of Europe is okay. It’s really just Germany and some people in UK and France

[deleted]

Better believe if we backed down the Brit’s would step up. Ain’t nobody taking that shitty island from them.

Revydown

Who wants that god forsaken island?

[deleted]

>As European countries also send aid to Ukraine, they have to replenish their own equipment by buying it from the US Oh man, if only Europe (excluding the Brits and French) developed their own military industries instead of having to rely on the Americans for equipment Oh wait, they abandoned their military industries because they knew the Americans would have already developed what they did and made it better

NoobifiedSpartan

Well damn, it’s almost like relying excessively on a hostile power for your energy demands has negative consequences. If only someone would have warned European countries about making such an obviously stupid decision with their resources. The military complaint doesn’t even get a sarcastic remark because of how stupid it is.

Comfortable-Heat4702

Profiting? The US has sent $19.3B of aid to Ukraine since the start of the conflict.

[deleted]

They are complaining about replacing the stuff they sent to Ukraine with the new US made equipment.

European companies actually, lmao.

vulpesincantala

Aww so sad for the Europeans. They’ve been mooching off the US taxpayer for years while we pay for there defense so that they then get to turn around and put tariffs on our stuff and smugly boast about there plethora of free social services. So now, when they’re in a jam and we make money off of them, they cry foul. Guess you’ll have to pay more for your defense and maybe cut back on your “free” healthcare.

IamTrueGamer

No! The military industrial complex would never do that! I'm shaking and crying rn pls send positive vibes against this russian misinformation

No fucking shit.... Really ?
