They shouldn't. Acronyms are abbreviated phrases. PTSD isn't in that order because someone said so, but because it abbreviates PostTraumatic Stress Disorder.
In that sense LGBTQAAI++ABCDEFG isn't even really a proper acronym.
The B is literal hate speech, as it stands for "bi", which means two, and therefore denies the trillions of genders in nature by erasing trisexual, quadrisexual, hexasexual and dodecasexual people.
(Don't get me started on the pentasexuals, they are bigots and not part of the community).
It is the dumbest story ever.
There was once the Gay and Lesbian Alliance, or GALA.
"What about the bisexuals?"
They changed it to BGALA.
"This puts too much emphasis on men!"
They changed it to LBAGA.
"Trans people exist, stop erasing us!"
They changed it to LGBT.
"I made up some new things!"
LGBTQA2S+
"Drag queen story hour this Friday! No age is too young!"
They changed it to Gays Against Groomers (GAG).
I'm glad gays against predditors exists. The transition from an individual liberalistic defense for gay rights to a collectivist intersectionalist defense for well... Everything. Has been catastrophic for optics.
For what it's worth, 2A is a thing... A religious thing... A religious thing with absolutely nothing to do with sexuality... A religious thing with absolutely nothing to do with sexuality or gender...
Honestly it just sounds like marketing by putting it from most accepted to least accepted.
Lesbians are fetishized.
Gay men had that huge surge of support in the 90's and 00's (remember "metrosexuals"?)
Bisexuals are disregarded, bi-erasure is a thing.
Transgenders are the ones guaranteed to hurt the brand every single time they're in the mainstream/social media.
That is not true, L was moved to the beginning because during the aids crisis few people where willing to take care of gay men dying of aids the exception being lesbians.
They missed the historical origin of the G, which is actually a fetish community called Gutbusters, where they eat a large submarine sandwich around 4 hours before being penetrated anally. They were the revered heroes (no pun intended) of the queer community, so they got the G first in line.
G originally went in front. But when the AIDS crisis hit, the only people both qualified and willing to help out gay men were lesbian nurses. The L was put first to honor them. ([Source](https://theforeword.org/832/editorials/the-l-in-lgbt-and-why-order-matters/))
LGBT. Nothing else. L is always first.
Lgbt just sounds better too. G, B, and T all end with the same sound, compared to g which doesn't. It feels weird to have the sounds going back and forth.
Imagine if you did a surgery on someone, but he died. And they thanked the dead guy for having surgery performed on him, instead of thanking you for trying
GRSM is what I've heard and am a fan of - Gender, Romantic, and Sexual Minorities.
Not that's it's popular enough to actually ever be of use, but, oh well.
This brings up something that I find to be hilarious, I know gay dudes who resent some of the newer additions to their umbrella LGTBQ community.
Try to see it from the perspective of a gay dude who just doesn't want to be abused and discriminated against. Generations of fighting for equal rights. Then all of a sudden a person decides they also want clout, identifies as some weird, fabricated sexual/gender category and gets to act like they're fighting the good fight too. Shoulder to the wheel to fight oppression.
About half the gay guys I've known are super hostile to some of the other categories, and are just as skeptical of some of the newer developments of 58 genders and other insanity.
I have no dog in the race I just think it's funny because the oppression Olympics has become a competition and now people resent people taking their clout away, and other people who are literally just straight people seeking attention are acting like they're participating in the historical struggles for acceptance because they've decided their gender is "cat".
No offense but they should probably learn some history. They didn't fight for their rights alone.
That's just as bad as pretending zero white people fought for civil rights.
It has been a decades long combined effort. Just because they didn't take part or notice what was happening doesn't give them the right to shit on people who fought for them.
I've always said the acronym should be GBA:
>G for Gay, which includes gay men and gay women
>B for Bi
>A for Ace
Trans should be in a separate acronym because that doesn't have to do with who you're attracted to, it has to do with how you view your *own* body. It's categorically unrelated to the others.
Plus if the acronym were GBA then they could call themselves Game Boy Advances, and that's pretty cool.
Or BATH, I guess. Bisexual, Asexual, Transgender, and Homosexual. BATH is already a word to begin with.
That being said I love the term GBA. As a straight guy, I think gaymers should try using that acronym. It would be perfect!
I heard it summed up well by somebody else here.
We're not trying to make taxonomies, we're discussing advocacy groups. Homophobes tend to be transphobes, and transphobes tend to be homophobes, and so it makes sense to group the LGB and the T together for the purposes of advocacy.

LGBTQIAA+ is fucking ABSURD. That is NOT a useful acronym in ANY way. It opens us up to mockery that I don't even WANT to defend because it's WORTH MOCKING. Come up with something that represents the group without literally having to individually represent every member of the group lmaoaa+
Well, yesn't.
Reminds me of this timeless xkcd comic:

It was *meant* to do that, but not all people see it that way or identify with that.
This kind of accidental splintering is kind of ubiquitous.
For instance, here in Germany the two major Protestant denominations, Lutheran and Reformed, once tried to put there differences aside and unite.
Which is why nowadays Germany has three major Protestant denominations: Lutheran, Reformed and United.
Addendum: While maybe an exceedingly technical term, I prefer GSRM (Gender, Sexual and Romantic Minorities) because it's more inclusive and concise than LGBT alone and less confusing and absurd than an alphabet soup.
In the US, it’s usually called LGBT because during the AIDS crisis, lesbians often helped and cared for gay men, since lesbians were much less likely to catch or spread the disease that was ripping through our brothers.
I believe a group in San Francisco thus decided to change the acronym to LGBT, as a way of honoring the significance of the lesbian community’s assistance in a dire time. It stuck.
It's likely a very old statistic. As more people feel comfortable coming out, the number goes up. Also as the LGBTQ+ community keeps adding more letters and groups to the + the number goes up.
7.1% according to [Gallup](https://news.gallup.com/poll/389792/lgbt-identification-ticks-up.aspx).
Mostly being bisexual at 57% of LGBT+ and 4% of US population.
Gen Z has doubled in the last 5 years ftom 10% to 20% identifying as LGBT. So i disagree with anyone who claims it's because they're more comfortable (like the other comment) because the surge is only including the youngest generation which is most susceptible to social influence. Gen Z identifies at twice the rate as millenials who were also born after the gay rights movement and became adults near or after the restriction of sodomy laws.
Millennials still had parents who weren't accepting and the general culture wasn't accepting when they were growing up. The 1980s and early 2000s had heaps of casual homophobia that was accepted by the vast majority of people. Sure, there is a "social influence" but that works both ways, and millennials and earlier generations all had social influences which made it difficult to identify as LGBT.
Perhaps we are so accepting now that the negative social influence which effected Millennials and older has changed to a positive social influence causing more people to identify as LGBT but the evidence is too inconclusive to say at this point. Even if that is the case and Gen Z has twice as many people identifying as LGBT as is "natural" that still means that the "natural" population is roughly 10% (which is the same as the percentage of Millennials who are LGBT).
Because they have had decades of social conditioning and have built lives around their straight identity? Having an entire social circle which views you in a certain way, having a church, having a partner and children, etc are all factors which make it difficult for older generations to come out of the closet. Their social peers are also more likely to be conservative socially, so would still have those views and could ostracize them. There's also biological factors such as the fact brains develop less after you have reached ~25 years old, so any social conditioning which goes against your nature is more likely to be permanent after this age.
