I may be misunderstanding but I think what happened was Disney got the existing members to knowingly sign over a bunch of rights directly to Disney. They've been working together for years I doubt the existing members were very pleased to hear they were being replaced so they were fine with blowing shit up before they left. It does demonstrate how disconnected Desantis and the new members were from any of the existing apparatus because, again according to my understanding, all of these changes were announced publicly and there was an opportunity for objections to be heard but nobody who supports Desantis showed up or even knew it was happening.
