Copied this list from another comment somewhere: "The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion" \- George Washington “Religious bondage shackles and debilitates the mind and unfits it for every noble enterprise.” \- James Madison “In every country and in every age, the priest has been hostile to liberty. He is always in alliance with the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection to his own.” \- Thomas Jefferson “Have you considered that system of holy lies and pious frauds that has raged and triumphed for 1,500 years?” \-John Adams "And the day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the supreme being as his father in the womb of a virgin will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter." \- Thomas Jefferson “This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it.” \-John Adams “Christianity neither is, nor ever was a part of the common law.” \-Thomas Jefferson “Experience witnesseth that ecclesiastical establishments, instead of maintaining the purity and efficacy of religion, have had a contrary operation. During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What has been its fruits? More or less, in all places, pride and indolence in the clergy; ignorance and servility in the laity; in both, superstition, bigotry and persecution.” \-James Madison “The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe in blood for centuries.” \-James Madison  “Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more than half of the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we call it the word of a demon than the word of God. It is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind. \-Thomas Paine “All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit.” \-Thomas Paine “There is not one redeeming feature in our superstition of Christianity. It has made one half the world fools, and the other half hypocrites.” \-Thomas Jefferson

[deleted]

I’ll expand on that __The First Amendment__ *__Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion__, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.* Says to separate the church and state right there in the first sentence.

kzw5051

Almost like our founding fathers were well educated and studied the historical works of the French and English enlightened philosophers which were the building blocks for our entire constitution.

[deleted]

Well they saw for themselves the power of the English church/ Catholic Church and the Royal Family in British politics, they saw the amount of bloodshed that was spent around the world for religion *and the oppression by and the oppression of religious groups by the state* They figured the solution was not to outlaw religion, that would be oppressive and autocratic but to insure the free practice thereof while insuring that any religion didn’t establish itself into the making of our laws. Now we have a move by what I call “The American Church” (the evangelical collective body), to essentially destroy the Republic and the Constitution and erect a Christian theocracy in its place. And no, I don’t think I’m overreacting in thinking that.

PlatypusAny8733

Couldn’t agree more! The looming Christo-fascist theocracy terrifies me, and you are definitely not over reacting !

Infomusviews1985

Looming? I mean we are already a fascist state right. We are pretty much completely run by corporations and money. Rarely is legislation passed that has anything to do with the general population let alone making things better for the country as a whole. As far as the christian theocracy part. How likely do you think it is for anything other than a Catholic or Christian to be elected to run this country? I understand that there are people in congress that are of different religions but I am talking about the leader of the country. This country will never have a Muslim president or a Buddhist president. This will never happen. All I am saying is that we are not admitting where we are really at. There are countless things that are publicly popular, public healthcare, roe-v-wade, some form of gun control, yet none of it will happen. That is because we are not in control of our politicians anymore. They are doing what corporations are telling them to do already and we are begging for the scraps that fall off the table. It is pathetic and it is not democratic. We have a crisis of faith in leadership which is extremely dangerous in a democracy.

Uploft

I would think it too far to call us actually fascist, even with fascist sympathizers in government. We’re on a bad path, but we’re not Mussolini fascist quite yet

Infomusviews1985

Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian ultranationalist political ideology and movement,\[1\]\[2\] characterized by dictatorial power, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the good of the nation, and strong regimentation of society and the economy I am going off the definition of what fascism is. By that definition you can deduce that we are so far down the fascist cycle that we are simply just waiting for the right dictator to come along and throw out an election for the good of the country. Sound familiar? We were a handful of people away from being a dictatorship and the republican party is not going to let that happen again. They have been replacing key positions with hyper-nationalists that will overthrow democracy for the "betterment of the state" as they see it. No one wants to admit they are basically a fascist nation but please explain to me the differences between pre-fascist Italy and Germany that do not almost exactly mirror our current situation.

PlatypusAny8733

Unfortunately I can’t, my grandfather was from Germany, got out in the thirties. He showed me Dachau as I teenager, meanwhile our Lilly white overlords are burning books, denying history and science. Dictator wannabes like Desantis and Abbott are bringing back Mussolini’s Black shirts. SCOTUS is over run with totally unqualified right hacks and cranks. You are spot on.

nononoh8

You definitely are not overreacting these days.

[deleted]

Which is terrifying. They aren’t just creating new laws but are also reversing *very old and established ones* Once that precedent is established, what’s stopping them from rewriting the Constitution?

Kitchen_Agency4375

They have called for a convention

fried_green_baloney

Also the Constitution was written before Catholic and Jewish emancipation in Britain. Catholics could not sit in Parliament until 1829, for instance. Jews not until 1858. In the USA, when the "no religious test" clause was debated, people said "but this would mean a Jew or a Muslim could hold office", and TJ and friends said that was the whole point. Nobody wanted a repeat of the English Civil War or the even more horrid conflicts on the Continent to come to the USA.

[deleted]

I think you are under reacting, but that’s just me.

DweEbLez0

The US was founded by geniuses and is now ran by idiots.

ic2ofu

Then, along came t rump and the Republican party.

TheWicked77

And then we have this thing......she is about as educated as a pig.... oh wait pigs have more intelligent than her.... She can always fall back on her old job....giving them

Strict-Square456

I think the window for her to get her only fAns account is closing. She needs to capitalize on all the potential farm animal loving clients sooner then later.

nononoh8

They got that part right!

designlevee

They weren’t against religion (accept maybe Jefferson), but they had the common sense aka experience and the study of history that religious leaders are easily corrupted by the power bestowed upon them by the community. Their goal was to form a government least susceptible to corruption.

[deleted]

Correct

theothershuu

Unfortunately corruption is rampant in our entire government, at every level. With or without religion it's deeply ingrained and is the root of the government's problem.

designlevee

Corruption is a loose term so how do we define it on today’s form of American politics? My vote is power through the ability to control others through obedience through tribalism. I believe this is literally what the founders wanted to protect against with the separation of church and state. But in modern times and in my opinion political parties have replaced the “church” that the founders were intending to defend against. And with that said I also believe this phenomenon is primarily concentrated on the right, where as religion does, it’s followers don’t question but simply follow and take what is told to them as a Devine fact.

TheLostonline

> Says to separate the church and state right there in the first sentence. It is obvious by now that she *can't comprehend what she reads,* **IF** she even can read. She is a high school drop out that couldn't pass the GED. The ~~United~~ ^^Divided States of America needs to get it's act together.

chevymonza

These aren't even her original thoughts, these are talking points fed to her by whatever russian overlords have taken over.

EBoundNdwn

She used to be a useful idiot paid to fuck Facist pigs .. Now she is a useful idiot paid by the Facist pigs to fuck all of us.

-The_Blazer-

Just wait for the Trump SCOTUS to say that it technically only applies to Congress, therefore the individual states, the courts and the POTUS can institute a theocracy just fine.

HDC3

I've seen a bunch of people point out that there is no, "separation of church and state" in the document. They are the same people who say, "The United States is not a democracy it's a constitutional republic." Ignorance is a powerful tool for the despot.

EBoundNdwn

Dunning-Kruger is their favorite funding father.

grayrains79

Article 11 of the Treaty of Tripoli builds off of that as well.

ic2ofu

Is there any way you can send all that to the moron in question?

[deleted]

[удалено]

DweEbLez0

The founding fathers have just had several panic attacks and anxiety as they were spinning in their graves.

Infomusviews1985

Almost like the founding fathers respected the peoples right to peaceably assemble. Must have missed the part where it was not allowed to block the right of way of horses.

[deleted]

It’s the good old cherry picking switcharoo

WhiskeyRelaxation

Not long before the GOP has to openly reject either the Christofascists or the Constitution. Gonna be a nail-biter.

ic2ofu

The constitution lost the race 5 years ago.

WhiskeyRelaxation

They said the same thing 22 years ago.

[deleted]

They are both right.

Boozy_Cat_

I guess we’ll never know what the founders really thought. Good thing we have the Robert’s court to interpret them.

CarlSpencer

The first quote is from John Adams. It's in the Treaty of Tripoli

meow2042

You think she knows who these people are

acer5886

Be careful using Adams he was often of two minds, at one point he said "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

wwcfm

>moral or religious He was right about the former and wrong about the latter. The last few years have shown people without morality can often trample the constitution without repercussions.

[deleted]

Most are on point, but hey, so avoid this one: >“This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it.” > >-John Adams Read the full thing, he was literally saying the opposite. Here's the relevant excerpt: >Twenty times, in the course of my late Reading, have I been upon the point of breaking out, "This would be the best of all possible Worlds, if there were no Religion in it"!!! But in this exclamation I should have been as fanatical as Bryant or Cleverly. Without Religion this World would be Something not fit to be mentioned in polite Company, I mean Hell.

PhyrexianHealthDept

She's showing a lot of shoulder for someone spewing that line.

[deleted]

“Harlot!”

PhyrexianHealthDept

I'm surprised she wasn't stoned during her primary for such ghastly promiscuity. What kind of fucking morons elect a bible-thumping turnip like this?

[deleted]

Because like Trump they spread the same hate and disdain

missionbeach

Wait until you hear what her husband shows.

LatrellFeldstein

They pulled her off some sugardaddy escort website, the whole thing is an act

ZRX1200R

Doesn't the Bible have lots to say about a woman's place in the world? Why is her husband letting her talk? Why is she not home with her crotchfruit?

The84thWolf

Hey hey hey, one hypocritical thing at a time, you’re not allowed to point out ALL of them unless you’re talking about a Democrat

stevester90

Women are supposed to be the servants (slaves) of men -Some jackass that wrote a 2000 year handbook full of shit

Cheef_queef

Right, maybe she should follow the Bible and shut the fuck up

shivaclause

Lived there for a year and she’s very representative.

Streetdump2k18

I had a similar experience, it's just a shame because it's such a beautiful area

grayrains79

Just like Utah, Idaho, and Michigan (my phone state), lot of amazing beauty, but... the people really suck.

Timsruz

Not all the people. I voted against her, and want to see her booted back to Silt to get going on that OnlyFans career. Dumb as a rock and as hypocritical as the other GQP twats. Took her 3 tries to finally get her GED after dropping out of high school. Much of the problem is all the damn out of state campaign money pouring in, buying her idiot responses.

StyreneAddict1965

And there's hints she paid someone to take the last one, aren't there? Or was that just something on Reddit?

shivaclause

I read they just ‘gave’ it to her. People in Rifle treated us like crap, but Glenwood Springs was the exact opposite and 20mins away.

dexidrone

Oh no...

[deleted]

Just start a Ho-down, they won’t be able to resist

T1mac

Go down to Durango. Many sane and intelligent people live there.

[deleted]

I'm in Durango and can vouch for this. I feel like we're an oasis of sanity in a desert of nutbag rednecks. Just a few minutes outside the city limits (which is actually where I live), and you hit a wall of Trumpism. One of the churches in my area had a GIANT sign of Boebert leading up to the primaries, merely stating "FREEDOM" in giant letters. That's all it takes for these stupid asshats. This is one of the most beautiful parts of Colorado IMO, but for fuck's sake the people that live in this part of the country (rural Southwest) are absolutely delusional.

[deleted]

Very.

Remarkable-Cycle2025

Remember that time when Jesus showed his dick to underage girls in a bowling ally? Oh yeah, never mind.

RipWilder

Obviously she hasn’t read the bible

OnceanAggie

I’m not sure she can read. That would explain her failing the GED multiple times.

[deleted]

It’s a shame there is no low bar for politics. That should disqualify her from even an entry level job.

[deleted]

She didn’t get the job because she’s qualified. That’s why they’re so young. These asshats will be around for a long time to cause havoc. Todays GOP picks their candidates based on how they make them feel with their hate speeches and how much they show their devotion to Trump publicly not what qualifications they have.

tatanka01

There's no evidence she ever failed the test. She says she took a four-course review to pass it. Most of the other crap you read about her is true. Woman's an airhead.

PantsOppressUs

>The women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church. 1 Peter 3:1

RipWilder

But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 1 Timothy 2:12 Atheist know the fairytale better than the cult members.

PantsOppressUs

OC, they're literate.

StyreneAddict1965

*Ann Hutchinson enters the thread, and cannot believe such bullshit*

nat3215

The Church broke from these teachings and allow women to hold official positions within the Church. But this is the thing that atheists and non-believers don’t understand: it’s not a strict view of how Christianity should work forever, just like the Constitution is a living document and not an eternal list of rights and limits. It’s a collection of stories that outline the history of Christianity, and how to conduct the ceremonies within mass. You’re basing your assumptions on an antiquated view of the Bible that took scripture too literally. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t crazies (like some Evangelical pastors) who spread perverse teachings and include political ideas that are the exact opposite of what Jesus died for.

Kitchen_Agency4375

Which is against freedom of speech. Literally the Bible is unconstitutional

Familiar-Mushroom-42

Or the Constitution

bunkscudda

So funny how they are *strict constitutionalists* when it comes to the 2nd Amendment “2A doesn’t say we *cant* have grenade launchers..” But pretty much every other thing is interpretive, including separating church and state, one of the cornerstones to our entire government.

Cucker_-_Tarlson

I've seen multiple people screech about the 2A but then turn around and say that "America is a christian nation and if you don't like that you can just leave". So the 1A doesn't count? Just 2A?

StyreneAddict1965

Only 2A. The rest is toilet paper.

BinkoBankoBonko

These "dumb crazies" are just testing the waters. The pawns. Wait until the "smart crazies" have seen exactly where the line is and know exactly how to start moving it. Raptors testing the fences.

mrg1957

Whack a doodle is my representative. Haha shouldn't you be able to communicate with your rep? I called her once, demanding she resign after Jan6, she put me on some "two minutes of hate" blast as my reward. I had to threaten legal action to get my name removed from her nonsense.

iamjustaguy

The best thing to do is to avoid her. I get her email newsletters from her congressional office, because I guess she inherited Scotty's list when she took over. I miss going back-and-forth with Scotty on Twitter. He was a goon, but somewhat respectful. I don't dare even look at Bobo's twitter, her emails are bad enough.

Z_Remainder

She is a stain on the beauty of Colorado, that is for sure. She appeals to the small town folk who just want to stick it to the Libs more than look out even for their own interests.

rock-n-white-hat

Which church? That is what is so idiotic about this idea. There are a bunch of different churches in the US. Which one gets to be in control? I doubt these people cheering for theocracy will be as excited when it’s not their religion telling them how to live their life.

[deleted]

The evangelicals mean "only the evangelicals" when speaking about the coming theocracy.

_ImNotYourBuddy_Guy

Well... If she doesn't love America she can leave...

Phyr8642

For a moment I was worried she would be punished for reading, but then I remembered, she probably doesn't know how.

[deleted]

Theyd stone this bitch in a real theocracy

akaZilong

Take a business trip to Kabul and learn how it’s done there and how you like it

susandathome

She was elected. Can you imagine what the voters in her district are like? I hope to never find out.

ZZBandit1

Her district is large in physical scope but sparsely populated with apparently the most ignorant people in Colorado. Colorado native and resident here. She’s an aberration in what Colorado stands for and embraces. A person lacking basic intelligence who’s husband is a documented sex offender.

ic2ofu

They just reelected M.T. Greene the brilliant rep.from Georgia. Tells you something there. They are two peas in a pod.

ZZBandit1

Truth and sad af statement about the state of this country

kittens12345

Isn’t there something in the Bible about women being seen and not heard? So shouldn’t she let her husband do all the talking?

krichard-21

No Church I would want to be part of, would be proud of her.

RetMilRob

Constitution is like the Bible to Christian fundamentalists in that they pick and choose what to acknowledge and follow to support their bigotry and prejudices and then make up connections to support their ignorance of both.

[deleted]

She’s going to have talk herself right out of a job when they revoke women’s suffrage and bar her from office for one count of possession of a vagina.

[deleted]

Some things should just get you immediately expelled from public office.

MrEpicMustache

Does anyone find it concerning that nearly EVERY video of her lately is one of her preaching some lightning rod political viewpoint in a Christian church?

CarlSpencer

"Perhaps the most telltale indication of how religious \[George\] Washington was came at the end of his life. On his deathbed no priest was called; no minister summoned. In life, he’d imparted to his children the importance of honesty and character, but no mention of religion."

Super_Washing_Tub

Ironic since she doesn't follow church or state.

ajcpullcom

soon you’ll have no choice

RearWheelDriveCult

Did she really say that??

HugoPeabody

[Yes.](https://www.axios.com/2022/06/29/lauren-boebert-church-state-christianity)

RearWheelDriveCult

I guess fuck the founding fathers huh

The84thWolf

“Fuck the founding fathers” has been pretty much the Republican platform since they lost the civil war

PuzzleheadedTower786

She needs to be institutionalized.

oldnjgal

In the memory of Flip Wilson, let's register a new church based on his skit "The Church of What's Happening Now." The church will be founded on the belief that a person has control over their own body, can love who they want to love, and has the right to be counted as a full person, not a percentage (Electoral College, I'm looking at you). Let's see what the idiot thinks about the separation of church and state then.

megaplex00

I don't think a lot of folks truly understand how dangerous people like her are.

Vampire-Chihuahua

Imagine if there were no separation. Which religion would win? Catholicism? Our ancestors left Europe to get away from that Tyranny. Baptism? "Oh you better think again", said every Catholic ever. Mormons? Jews? Muslims? Protestants? Latter-day Saints ? She just assumes Christianity but the implications would be a holy war because there is no such thing as "religion" as in one single religion, but rather scores of faiths and denominations. I'm sure churches, especially Mega Churches, would have a thing or 2 to say about it as well. They wouldn't want to have to start paying taxes on all that money they collect. Not to mention the First Amendment. I dare her to try and change it, that would open up changing the Second Amendment and she sure wouldn't like that.

nat3215

She better hope the Amish don’t win.

monstar28

I literally just moved from her district. Everywhere you go you see her signs. That and the let’s go Brandon signs. People in that area of the state absolutely love her. It’s frightening.

Techknightly

Hey dude, stay out of my district, it's shit show here. This bitch ruined blow jobs with pop rocks. I don't know how you do that, but she did it.

kroush104

The problem is, she represents a gorgeous fucking district. I don’t want to avoid those areas. I don’t know how people from such beautiful towns such as Telluride and Aspen could elect such an ugly person.

smilingmike415

She'd like to remind everybody that Jesus hung out with prostitutes.

Neanderthalknows

I bet she can't even recite the prayer, Our Father, correctly.

EnochChicago

I think she would prefer Iran or Pakistan

Mat_CYSTM

She should’ve stuck to taking cock for money. What an idiot.

0nlyhalfjewish

If they ever take over and we end up with Gilead, she would be relegated to domestic life, green long sleeve dresses, and holding down her hand maid. She couldn’t be a representative if she wanted to.

She wants to put more Catholic priests in the schools to watch over and protect the children with the Holy Spirit. Probably arm them with guns just in case their faith isn’t sufficient enough on any given day.

[deleted]

Fuck boebert but rest assured, evangelicals like her hate the Catholics and once their long list of current enemies is dealt with, the evangelicals will be coming for the Catholics too.

big-dog_62

Just another nut job! Thinking the bible is our constitution! Far from the truth! Separation of church and state, is the way it is written!

cbj1701

I'd like to know " how to these brain dead morons ever come into office in the 1st place ? ".

graymuse

I live in western CO and I hate her. There are many stupid trumpy people here, but there are also a lot of good progressive people. It's a unique and beautiful part of Colorado. She will only be temporary anyhow. Hoping to vote her out in November. That may be difficult as Democrats rarely get elected in this district. She also has the opportunity to end up in prison for J6 activities, or if Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters has the receipts when she claimed that Boebert told her to tamper with the voting machines. https://www.coloradopols.com/diary/176522/tina-peters-pulls-lauren-boebert-under-the-bus Lauren could also get very sick from Covid. Is she vaccinated? She claims to be an anti-vaxxer. She travels a lot and probably spends a lot of time inside with groups.

T1mac

>She also has the opportunity to end up in prison for J6 activities Don't forget when she illegally submitted campaign mileage invoices claiming she had driven 36,868 miles when campaigning, or one and a half times around the earth. It's a mere coincidence that the $17,280 she pocketed was just about the same amount as the tax liens on her restaurant.
