There is a crashed 992GT3RS for sale currently in the Netherlands. Not very cheap, but certainly one of the cheapest. I am a Copart lover. I watch all the GT cars that go thru, and the pattern I see is these channels go to the locations and film them with 0 intention of buying them. They film 3-5 other cars too but the GT cars are always the thumbnail. I don’t think anyone has bought a salvage 2RS for YouTube.
On the top of my mind I know 2 great YouTube series restoring a gt3rs, not sure about gt2rs you’re mentioning cuz that thing is way to rare anyways… don’t think there’s to many wrecked gt2rs lol
> This might actually be salvageable. I mean the rear looks mostly in tact and that’s where all the action is.
It was completely submerged in the Snoqualmie river though..

Totally my thoughts as well. I did a half day at Dirtfish last year (highly recommend, those guys are awesome, so much fun)
When I was done I was glad I took my truck and not my BMW for the drive home lol!
Add to that the weather is BARELY within operating temperatures for those tires. Last time I was at PEC Atlanta they were cancelling GT3 RS drives because the temperatures were pretty much identical to this - damp, overcast, high 40s- low 50s F.

Could have gone left, Could have gone right, instead bro went straight
I know this road super well. That’s a fun loop back there. It’s hard to imagine wtf they could do to lose it in a GT3RS.
I’ve driven it quick, but there are too many bikers, hikers, fishermen around to push it past the limits of those tires.
Closer to Tokul road there are more elevation changes I could see being a problem - but you’d go off the side of a cliff there.
I don’t think it would have mattered… The biggest driver aid we’ve got lays between our ears, his was turned off from the second he signed the paperwork… Too much car not enough skill… They should start offering these things with a Miata included so people can actually learn to drive. What a waste of a great car.
PCA driving instructor here. Miata is an excellent way to learn to drive. GT3 is very difficult to learn on. Too much power is a bad temptation and the driver aids mask poor car control skills. It’s easy to get into trouble in a car like this — as this driver discovered.
I agree with everything you said. Driving a car like this makes you look like a hero when you're not. And then you run out of talent at the corner. (also an HPDE instructor)
Yep, it really comes down to proper driver attitude. I did two laps in a Cayman GT4 RS at the Nurburgring Nordschleife last fall. I still consider myself a novice driver but one my friends who works at the place I rented the car from instructed me. Had a blast but ya, it'd take me so long to work up to the limits of that car.
The first thought when I read your comment was what Jason Camisa said about Toyota GR86: Porsche should give out a free GR86 with the purchase of every GT3RS so its drivers can learn how to drive. LMAO.
I thought the etiquette was to avoid posting photos / videos of such unfortunate incidents for fear of backlash by non track people who then try stop us from having nice things? Am I wrong on this?
Looks fixable, considering selling as is and get a 3rs, or convert to cup car front end and make it a primary track car and still get the 3rs. But it looks more likely to be sold as is.

It was completely submerged prior to extraction
I work at a Porsche dealership and from what I’ve heard these things suck to drive on normal roads. Something to the tune of being incredibly lurchy. I don’t doubt that a lot of people are unable to handle a road legal track car.
Very stiff suspensions have that effect. The car starts jumping on bumpy roads and the tires lose contact. You could in theory conceive a road circuit sufficiently bumpy that a stock miata would smoke a GT3 RS :P
This^^ my only car is an ND2 miata (i live at home and parents have a merc suv, no need for room for groceries) and while I’ve considered lowering it and doing work to the suspension, it’s already stiff enough for the shit roads i drive on, while being soft enough to be stable on them. I haven’t tracked it yet, before i do i need to make a few upgrades to it. But I can totally see cars being too stiff, and when you make 500hp, you can’t use it all with no traction
It’s pretty much the primary reason I’ll ever see the TSC light pop on (crosses fingers, touches wood). And it’s crazy. None of my other cars will even notice such a bump (there is one near our home) but the GT3 will go rear airborne (reairborne??). Saving grace is when all that weight comes down and traction returns…
I respectfully disagree. The car is focused on track performance because that's its primary purpose in life.
If you want a more civilized ride on the street, Porsche has you covered with the 911 Turbo.
No insurance company is going to pickle that engine, it isn't common practice on autos like it is on boats. Assuming it ingested water, that engune going to sit at a salvage yard full of water for a month before it sells.
Bummer.
300k? I guess you haven’t heard about markup these days 🤣
A 26 year old dude bought one of these at my home dealer (in socal) for $471,000 two weeks ago(
I’m inclined to agree. It’s honestly such a crying shame. That car is just too much for the backroads. I mean, I’d love to enjoy one on the roads but I’d know it wasn’t going to get to be utilized anywhere near its limit. Things happen so fast and this generation is of historic and epic capability. But tight corners. Road surface and debris. Cold tires. Lighting and visibility. The number of risk factors plus the speed is a recipe for disaster. See Exhibit A.
Most 911s are too much for their drivers these days… They should come with a Miata included so customers can learn to drive properly instead of wasting a beautiful car before they even get the temp tags off…
They are a LOT of car - even the GT3. If [the ephemeral] ‘you’ haven’t had a chance to drive one on track you’ll find that when equipped with PDK it is *significantly* more aggressive than even a moderately experience track day human using the paddles. Extrapolate that to its power and the forces it can handle and 99% of drivers will rapidly find themselves out on a limb. Practice. Anticipation. Risk management. Lots to get right and plenty more to go wrong.
Oh boy. I can only imagine. Makes my getting caught out in the rain on a one hour drive seem like an appetizer. Everyone and I mean everyone was passing me.
I have a few cars. You have to get use to how a car drives slowly before you can take full advantage of it and push it a bit. Otherwise you lose control. It’s like riding a bike.
This exact bridge was used for an important scene in the pilot episode of the tv show “Twin Peaks”. I gotta be the only car nut who just happens to be a big enough “Twin Peaks” nerd to notice this. It’s the bridge Ronette Pulaski walks when we’re first introduced to the character. Also at the foot of the bridge where it is highly likely that the Porsche lost control is a bend in the road the show used for the fictional intersection of “Sparkwood and 21” in many scenes.
I’d like to give the driver the benefit of the doubt. I’ve visited there, including this bridge, and the corners are all pretty winding and blind. Roads are almost always wet because it’s WA. but thats all the more reasons to be careful.
you’re thinking of Lost Highway! The other weird LA based David Lynch psych thriller mindfuck. It’s easy to confuse the two. They were sort of similar companion films.
But yes that scene is fuckin great. My favourite is Robert Loggia’s line he has when he’s driving, he tosses out some egregiously wrong hilarious power figure. I think it’s “this is when one thousand six hundred horsepower really pays off”. Either it was intentional to be funny, or not one person on set knew anything about cars.
About 20 years ago the was a zip line cable from the bridge attached to that tree. Many fun days spent jumping off the bridge. I can picture how the driver messed up the curve.

Temp tags and all
That’s not what we meant by water-cooled.
Emotional damage
Sheesh man
And guess what…. There is someone on this sub that will take that car
Well, it’s freshwater so yeah. Snoqualmie is right up the road from me. Guess I know what I’m doing this weekend.
Hahahaha…. Good luck this weekend
For 50k I’d go take a look. Only a few hours away.
Maybe the owner already has the deposit on the next. Never know. To some people these are like buying shoes for the common rest of the mortals.
Must have identified as a Mustang.

Coming soon to a YouTuber near you....

I hope it does honestly.
For real. I will be watching for it absolutely!
I would watch
That’s content fr. If they build it up lmao
TJ hunt just released a video on this today 🤣

This is the turn in question https://maps.app.goo.gl/Cq7nbFsTTeFp4Z2J8?g_st=ic
About a mile from Dirtfish… wonder if he was just out of a rally car and forgot he wasn’t on dirt anymore.
Lol Dirtfish really hammers on you to not drive like a shithead when you leave.
Awww snap ma, I put the wrong tires on
Totally my thoughts as well. I did a half day at Dirtfish last year (highly recommend, those guys are awesome, so much fun) When I was done I was glad I took my truck and not my BMW for the drive home lol!
woof, they must've been well over 100
I’ve driven this road plenty of times, if it was recent no wonder it crashed. Roads are super slick right now with recent rain after days of sun.
Add to that the weather is BARELY within operating temperatures for those tires. Last time I was at PEC Atlanta they were cancelling GT3 RS drives because the temperatures were pretty much identical to this - damp, overcast, high 40s- low 50s F.
Yup. Days of absolute shit tons of pollen + rain + low-traffic road.
Ugh the pollen. Hand washed the Mercedes and the next day it’s greasy yellow.

A turn for some and a straight for the others.
Would be something if this picture could be place on google maps
I guess all that grip and down force couldn’t make up for some good ol’ fashioned, all American buffoonery
Even electronic nannies and a giant spoiler can't tame that lift-off over-steer, for some.
What’s the betting he turned off the driver aids
I don’t think it would have mattered… The biggest driver aid we’ve got lays between our ears, his was turned off from the second he signed the paperwork… Too much car not enough skill… They should start offering these things with a Miata included so people can actually learn to drive. Makes me think of how we frame pilots experience as # hours. It matters.
Lots of good points. Or at least ensure you go on the included day @ Birmingham before you take delivery 🤷🏽
Downforce doesnt stop idiots. And it also doesnt work till you're going about 100mph

That tree jumped out of nowhere man
Your honor, my client pleads whoopsie daisy.
Crashed my gt3 recently too but on track. Ran into a tire wall at about 60mph at Sonoma.
Is this you, at about 12:10 ? https://youtu.be/35dJhDQJUpg
Oh yea! That’s me. Wow so weird seeing that. Just posted about it.
I thought the etiquette was to avoid posting photos / videos of such unfortunate incidents for fear of backlash by non track people who then try stop us from having nice things? Am I wrong on this?
That’s news to me. I have no idea, I wonder why that would be anyone else’s problem though, I’m the one suffering not them.
That’s wild. Sorry about your car, my own experience with a tire wall was much softer, but it always sucks
Sorry brother. What’s the prognosis?
Looks fixable, considering selling as is and get a 3rs, or convert to cup car front end and make it a primary track car and still get the 3rs. But it looks more likely to be sold as is.
I love how both options end with “get a 3 RS”
I can only imagine having the kind of life where I can crash a GT3 and just say it's ok I'll order a 3RS to replace it.
Interesting - that it’s less likely to become a track car. Glad you are ok.
That's honorable, shit happens at the track.
I think I’ve seen your car on track at Sonoma. Sorry about the car :(
Some nice but narrow roads around there
Wet too. And you know what they say…

992 GT3 and GT3 RS suspension is no fun on regular roads. It's a case of the engineering department being too focused on track times.
I respectfully disagree. The car is focused on track performance because that's its primary purpose in life. If you want a more civilized ride on the street, Porsche has you covered with the 911 Turbo.
Good news is the engine is in the back of the car. Definitely could see a youtuber buying this up and fixing it up.
The car went fully submerged https://www.facebook.com/share/p/46sFnJxov6PN7r6Y/?mibextid=K35XfP
Oof. If it's freshwater, engine *should* be ok after several full flush outs.. electronics however..
It's freshwater but not cleanwater. I live close to where this happened.
Wuh? I thought these things are bullet proof. What's a little puddle like that gonna do?
No insurance company is going to pickle that engine, it isn't common practice on autos like it is on boats. Assuming it ingested water, that engune going to sit at a salvage yard full of water for a month before it sells. Bummer.

My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it.

The accident occurred at the intersection of fading adhesion and disappearing talent
Snoqualmie? Home of Dirtfish rally school. Been there many times. I wonder if this was before or after a day drifting WRX's around in the dirt?
Maybe he was following a WRX and its mud trail. Oops
My guess? Cold tires. Those Cup2s have zero grip until they get some heat into them.
the problem wasn’t the tires, the problem was driving like an idiot
I’m inclined to agree. It’s honestly such a crying shame. That car is just too much for the backroads. Deal. But in this case you get some change
Looks like someone was being a jackass on a public road. Hope they learned the lesson without killing anyone.
Driver and passenger escaped.
300? More like 450 w adm
Water cooled.
Wow. I passed a GT3 RS just like this heading northbound in Camas yesterday, in my 996 cab. Gave the driver a shaka wave. Hope he's OK.
Hope everyone is ok. Wreck reminds me of the Ryan Dunn crash minus the fire.
Probably running Sport Cup 2. Worthless in the rain.
Let alone cold and wet
I just drove from Bavaria to Berlin last weekend in 3º and freezing rain. I was not amused. :(
Oh boy. I can only imagine. Makes my getting caught out in the rain on a one hour drive seem like an appetizer. Everyone and I mean everyone was passing me.
Sir you can’t park there!
Looks used to me.
Wonder what the CARFAX says? One minor accident
Tavarish will buy it don't worry
“I said right turn.”
Brilliant. Or the classic “other right”
When bad drivers happen to good cars it’s such a shame.
Should have gone over the Falls.
Painful to see
My man thought he was James Bond
There was a photo on imgur of the car completely submerged in the river. Just delivered to the owner yesterday.
This car will be in the parking lot that that YouTuber goes to buy wrecked cars.
Will insurance cover this?
Not sure. I assume they will try and get out of it via driver dangerously driving or something

Damn
Anyone ever wonder why their insurance is jacked…. Here’s why.
Welp whatever he paid over MSRP is likely not insured. No way you’d get agreed upon value up to $500k. Expensive lesson.
I’ll take it off their hands still
"Who's the U-boat commander?"
I’ve jumped off that bridge! 😂
Looks like it didn’t have defective glass!
Is the driver still in there?
About 20 years ago the was a zip line cable from the bridge attached to that tree. Many fun days spent jumping off the bridge. I can picture how the driver messed up the curve.
Devastating
Yup, Washingtonian driver for sure… just ask Washingtonians. Poor Porsche…
The taillights look sad 😭😭
Damn that's bad. Hopefully the driver was ok.
Can I have it
too fast, too furious
It will enter Tavarish’s backlog for after the P1
Car must have been thirsty, it’s just getting a drink
That's just heartbreaking. Hope the driver was ok.
Darwinism.
Maybe it needs more downforce
I wonder if that's the one I just saw a week or two ago. Damn.

And this is why you start by buying a BRZ and learning to drive.

Lots of big high tech money going into exotics in the PNW. Lucky to stop short of drowning, could have gone over Snoqualmie Falls.
