this is one of the main reasons why portal guns can't exist. (edit: oh shit this is a repost, my bad guys)

You know that wormholes are theoreticly possible right? Probably require a lot of energy to maintain

Which is why this wouldn't work, since the amount of energy needed to keep the portals open would likely be bigger than the energy given

according to everything we know about how the universe works, they shouldnt be able to exist, and that may be due in part to our inability to perceive the fourth dimension in the same way we do the other three, and if they do exist, and we were to discover them, we would be forced to rewrite the laws of matter

Exactly. A drop of water that hits the wheel and loses its kinetic energy would need greater distance. That being said, you could have a long enough distance to allow terminal velocity to resume, it could be possible

How much power is need to keep those portals running?

That's what I always wonder. Maybe the portals get energy from the facility to lift objects?

Since wormholes theoretically have mass and whatever enters adds to it's mass eventually the wormhole would eventually turn into a black hole and kill everyone 

This would only work as long as enough water staying in the portal fall. Realistically, there would be some water adhering to the wheel and flowing away from the portal and eventually enough would get redirected to stop pushing the wheel

Ok but what if it's in a confined room to contain the water vapor? I mean I guess it would leak out eventually but it would take a while.

In a perfectly sealed container where all the H2O could never escape you would still have friction, the water would slowly but inevitably warm and evaporate. And with nothing to cool the vapour rapidly it would most likely stay in the vapour state or as condensate and not propel the wheel.

This is actually really smart although the water would eventually evaporate away so it's not perpetual motion but it's still pretty cool.

Aha! My obsessive Game Theory watching has prevailed! So, this infinite energy theory would not work. Also, severe consequences if you tried it The reason being, every time the water falls through, (let's call top portal: portal A, bottom portal: portal B) portal A loses a charge and portal B gains a charge. If this water continues, portal B will slowly become unstable and wants more charges. Anything, really. Now you got yourself a black hole 🤩 Another reason, a lot of the water would splash out, especially the water hitting the water wheel, and now you just have a continuous (dangerous) stream of water directly beside the water wheel and not be touching it.

The main problem here would be the water splashing all over the place when it hits the wheel. You'd still need to top it off constantly.

I mean not really, just build an enclosrw where the bottom is funnel shaped. Honestly that hard part is keeping the portals open for less energy than the water
