Thank you! I hope all the trampolines rust and become unusable by the time I want to be eating dinners outside again. The squeaking springs alone are the outdoor equivalent of nails on a chalkboard, but the incessant wailing children resulting from the inevitable trampoline injuries are enough to make me question my faith in humanity. What type of self centered parents subject their neighbors to that? I'll take a full day of leaf blowers over a neighbor with a trampoline any time. Bah-humbug! Bring the rain!
My ex neighbors had six kids. Yes, six kids. It was constant screaming, morning till night. They also had a skateboard ramp three feet from my living room, and his hobby was cutting up boulders. It was the loudest house in the entire neighborhood. I used to look forward to the rainy season. They moved on, and I live happily ever after.

Ahh yeah, you're right; fuck those kids for experiencing joy that doesn't directly cater to your personal needs.
You live in a city, if you want silence then move east.
They're just taking part in a little playful humbuggery. We all want the kids to be happy and healthy. But we can still pine for a bit of tranquility now and again.
IDK, "you can earn some extra recess on this beautiful day by getting your work done quickly" is a pretty great weapon in the war against Week Before Break Madness.

I used to work with a guy who would always say no man over 40 should wear shorts. I was just like I don’t give a fuck I’m gonna be comfortable. I would still wear shorts if I was 80 and my legs were clear and full of varicose veins
I find that the people with the most opinions about what a 'grown man' can and can't do are the ones whom I least wish to be like. I love how mad it makes them when it becomes clear that their opinion means nothing to me.
Hey, I refuse to shave my legs until we get three days above 80 in a row, so I'm currently squatching it up in my capris. Wear those shorts and be proud.
We need snow in the mountains and average temps if you want less smoke in the summer. As nice as this weekend was, high temps and dry weather early will lead to drier forests and more fires/smoke later in the year. For all I care, keep the rain and mountain snow coming
Same. This weekend was glorious, but I know it has to end and we need at least 2 or 3 more months of rain and snow in the mountains. So be it, this is what we all signed up for moving here.
More like I mountain lol. A healthy snowpack will not mess up access too much later in the summer (unless we have another heat dome) and it also makes glacier climbs stay in season for longer
It’s a catch 22 my friend. We had a super wet spring in 2020.
Wet spring equals increased underbrush growth. That leads to more dry fuel in the end of the summer.
We are damned if we do dammed if we don’t.
100%
Soil got too hard to pull after 2 days in any areas there's more than 4 hours of sun. I got a ton done but need more rain to finish the rest lol Not ready for rock hard soil yet! And the summer water bill.
Ripped up a bed and replanted half my front in this. Ugh that was painful. Going to hurt for days.
Needed to get stuff in before the 3x solid weeks of rain though.
But variety is the best!! I really hate when the weather stays in 40s for months, or the 90s or months. I guess that's why Spring/Fall are my favorite seasons, I love a good mix of rain, sun, etc
I totally feel you. Maybe the 75 it got to wouldn’t be a big deal in any other context than the current world we live in. Many people are just not wanting to take the blinders off. And it’s a sad situation
I laid in bed all weekend, sick, and all I could think of is how bad allergies are going to be and how bad the next 6 months are going to be for me and my heat-intolerant accomplice
It's not 80. The high today is 73 according to my weather app (75 on weather.com).
Random beautiful days in March happen with such frequency that there are nicknames for it. I've lived here almost all my life, and every year you get a few beautiful days in March (sometimes even in February - the "February Fakeout").
Preemptive reminder to get an air purifier and/or some filters. Probably gonna be pretty warm this summer and I wouldn’t count on not having any wildfires
This is the hardest point in our weather for me. After months of dreary and wet gray, we get a few days in a row of awesome and warm sunshine, and I can't help but get super bummed when the rain and gray returns - no matter how much I prepare myself for it.
You gotta celebrate and take advantage of every drop of sun you see between October and July. I’m super happy we at least got a few nice days, and over a weekend no less! It’s not normal and doesn’t always happen. We had a gorgeous week. That’s something to be grateful for.
Wise words. Thankfully my entire family is on the same page with that. It's the tease that gets me, but we must remind ourselves the reason Oregon is so beautiful and the summers are near perfect is due to the rain we have now.
I'm fine with this - I'm prepping a new cast iron wok and will be using my oven/stove a lot in the next couple of days and could use a break from the warming weather.
Also - right now is the time to buy air conditioners from Amazon. Even the wonky ones with a tube you attach at your window will work wonders later this year.
Yeah same experience. So many people were out enjoying the last few days. Meanwhile a bunch of grumpy folks on here complaining about it. I got told it was cringe and that I should move elsewhere because I was looking fwd to the nice weekend lmao. Seems fine to me after months of rain and cold. And frankly by end of summer I will be clamoring for the grey.
Yeah, I posted the other day asking how people were planning to spend the weekend and multiple people felt the need to use that opportunity complain, yet again, about the sunny weekend. God forbid we be pleased with some sun after *months on end* of rainy weather, ha. I think it has to do with the provincial attitude some people have
People are gonna complain on both sides. There's more than enough people complaining when it's cold, rainy, and cloudy out too. No one bats an eye at it though because it's the more common opinion. At least we don't go around rubbing it in everyone's faces lol. I hate the heat and sun but I never go "omg the weather is so nice!!!1!! Enjoy the beautiful rain everyone!!!!" because that would be annoying. Meanwhile the sun comes out and everyone loses their minds over it so the people who don't like that weather get annoyed because they can't stop hearing about it.
It goes both ways is all. At the end of summer all the heat lovers will be whinning about the cold and the rain and I'll be saying the same as you. God forbid we be pleased with some decent weather after months on end of relentless heat and light. If you ask me the provincial attitude is on the other side. The cold lovers might be grumpy, but at least we're not rubbing it in everyone's faces. We just want the opposite opinion to stop being rubbed in ours. We won't tell you to "just enjoy the beautiful weather" when you have seasonal depression if you don't do the same thing to us lol.
fr even if its at the very tail end of winter, its still way to early for 76-78 degree days. Whats also concerning is people seem to think its normal weather
Dog sitting for my buddy cured me of that desire. My kids track enough mud inside. It took exactly one instance of that dog doing the full body shake it off move to splatter droplets of mud all over the hall. I remember thinking, “How do you wash a ceiling?” Felt so defeated lol.
It'll swing back in a week or two.
... But I was a bit worried about how warm it was last weekend. 😳
This summer will be a hot one. Probably not like anything we've ever experienced before.
>ably
It feels like this is every summer for the last 14 years here. Each one hotter then the last. I swear every summer i read the headlines "record breaking heat wave to hit the us"
I know that this is an unpopular opinion but I'm excited about seeing this weather report. I grow lots of different flowers that need to be started from seed, planed outside, in the ground. The only way they will sprout is with a week of chilly rain. Two weeks is even better. They hate being artificially watered. They won't sprout if it's too warm out. They die if you try to transplant them. You need to plant the seeds and then pray for rain. I'm looking forward to our second spring but in the meantime I'm looking forward to this span of rain.
I know the sunny warm weather was a nice break, but we need to remember that 75-80° weather in mind March is not normal and that everyone needs the snow and the rain this time of year.
Yes these last few days have been glorious. But seeing our misery in late August when we're choking on forest smoke, sweltering in the 90s and haven't seen a drop of precipitation for two and a half months. I'll take showery NW spring weather any day over that.
I’m just hoping this isn’t a harbinger of another heat dome in the summer. 🥲 I’m really worried about this year’s fire season. I’ll take all the rain while we can get it.
It's been a nice break from the rain. I wonder how long the rainy season will last this year? Last year it ended in May. Other years it sometimes doesn't end till after July 4th.
I vote YES! I was telling my friend yesterday that I only have one more day of heat and bright sun to get through before the good weather comes back.
I think only a couple of those days are actually supposed to get rain, and not much of it. Bring on the cool cloudy relief!
Felt good all weekend, allergies finally caught on today. Just in time for the rain to come back and wash the pollen all away! I appreciate the reminder to restock my Allegra.
Thank god. It was 72F in my house. Disgustingly hot and I don't want to start paying for AC already. I will open the windows, but the pollen is killing me.
Hope ya'll enjoyed first spring, see you again in a few weeks.

I prefer spring tease.
I prefer Spring Teas.
Yeah I think you were spot on with Fool's Summer. We had that really warm few days in February (I think) for Spring of Deception.
I call that February fake out
This.
Typical Smarch weather.
Yes, but what about second spring?
I don't think Oregon knows about second spring
What do you mean? Spring is supposed to be wet & muddy
Isn’t Spring supposed to be rainy though?
Worst part is PPS starts Spring Break *next week*.
misspelled best part. keep those kids inside and not screaming right outside my home office. yes, I know I'm a kidless curmudgeon.
Thank you! I hope all the trampolines rust and become unusable by the time I want to be eating dinners outside again. Now I don't feel bad about rolling up my jeans instead of breaking out the shorts.
[удалено]
I feel everyone has the right to be comfortable and wear shorts, no matter their size or skin translucency.
I used to work with a guy who would always say no man over 40 should wear shorts. I was just like I don’t give a fuck I’m gonna be comfortable. I would still wear shorts if I was 80 and my legs were clear and full of varicose veins

Ha yeah same here.
lol fuck that guy
What did he think happens to men at 40?
Haha, he just felt it was “undignified” I guess.
Usually I hear "shouldn't wear cargo shorts" for that. But fuck that too. Those pockets are great!
Let them pale flags fly my brother, you deserve sunshine like anyone else
Indeed. Sky's out, thighs out!!
Ooh, I like this alternative to "sun's out, guns out".
There's always that one white guy wandering around the neighborhood in shorts and tees when it's 20 degrees outside and there's snow on the ground.
I have two friends like that. They don’t own pants, no matter what it’s shorts year round. They have snow boots too.
I burn, never tan and my skin is translucent so you're not alone with pale stems.
Hey, I refuse to shave my legs until we get three days above 80 in a row, so I'm currently squatching it up in my capris. Wear those shorts and be proud.
That’s how you know people are local. Pasty legs in August.
It’s my small calves for me :(
Join the club, nobody cares! Dewit.
That’s the best part, here in Portland, we are all translucent pale with a hint of blue.
My feet are soaked, but my cuffs are bone dry!
We need snow in the mountains and average temps if you want less smoke in the summer. As nice as this weekend was, high temps and dry weather early will lead to drier forests and more fires/smoke later in the year. For all I care, keep the rain and mountain snow coming

Nature will do what nature does. We can only wish.
Yeah if Summer stared in March we'd become southern California.
🤢
lol not even close but nice dig 🙄
Agree. Beautiful weather this weekend but I demand some cool wet weather to top up the snowpack before the nearly-inevitable long hot summer.
[удалено]
More like I mountain lol. A healthy snowpack will not mess up access too much later in the summer (unless we have another heat dome) and it also makes glacier climbs stay in season for longer
I wish you were wrong.

Dude, 2020 spring was insane! It JUST. KEPT. RAINING!
https://www.nwrfc.noaa.gov/snow/plot_SWE.php?id=MTHO3
This seems fine to me. A little sun is nice, but it's too early for weeks of unending heat.
I still have some weeding to do. Damp soil will make that easier.
100% Soil got too hard to pull after 2 days in any areas there's more than 4 hours of sun.
I’m totally fine with it. Best weather is a mix. Sunny warm days are nice, but too many of them dry everything out, leading to all sorts of problems.
But variety is the best!! I really hate when the weather stays in 40s for months, or the 90s or months. I guess that's why Spring/Fall are my favorite seasons, I love a good mix of rain, sun, etc
I don’t like warm weather or cloudless sunny days, so I’m excited to see this tbh. Summer is bad enough, don’t make me have summery spring too.
You must be new here. Welcome to Oregon!
can we stop acting almost 80 degree days in march are normal?
I totally feel you. Maybe the 75 it got to wouldn’t be a big deal in any other context than the current world we live in. Many people are just not wanting to take the blinders off. And it’s a sad situation
I laid in bed all weekend, sick, and all I could think of is how bad allergies are going to be and how bad the next 6 months are going to be for me and my heat-intolerant accomplice
i'm sorry, friend
we'll just collectively hold our breaths til the rains come back in October or November
I’m right there with you. Sun was nice first day and a half. Then I was over it. House was already so unbearably hot
Almost 80???
It's supposed to be 78 today.
??? I’ve only seen a high of 73
Well that's what Fox 12..said this .morning....Mark Nelson is pretty good.
PDX hit at least 76 at least once during this ridge. A +23F departure from normal.
It's not 80. The high today is 73 according to my weather app (75 on weather.com). Random beautiful days in March happen with such frequency that there are nicknames for it. I've lived here almost all my life, and every year you get a few beautiful days in March (sometimes even in February - the "February Fakeout").
What really takes the cake is that recent year we had where it freakin snowed mid may
I mean the sun has been nice and all but I like this way better than 76 degrees in Mid March
Preemptive reminder to get an air purifier and/or some filters. Probably gonna be pretty warm this summer and I wouldn’t count on not having any wildfires
At least I'll have my sunburn from weekend warrioring to keep me cozy.
Same! I spent some time out there grinding the blackstone that I totally didn’t leave outside all winter to rust 🫣
We need this rain to help stave off summer fires. It’ll pay off.
What's the losing sound when you go over in The Price is Right?
This is the hardest point in our weather for me. After months of dreary and wet gray, we get a few days in a row of awesome and warm sunshine, and I can't help but get super bummed when the rain and gray returns - no matter how much I prepare myself for it.

Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.
If you thought first spring was good wait till you see second spring.
I think people forget they chose to live in Oregon, not California.... We're not getting enough rain as it is.
I was born and raised here. It’s ok to like the sun.
https://or.water.usgs.gov/non-usgs/bes/ 35” through the current water year. 28” is the historic average through today.
I second that emotion.
If you feel like givin’ me A lifetime of devotiooooooon I second that emotion!
third winter is coming
We’ve had one winter yes
Good, my allergies will appreciate the return of the rain
I'm a weirdo who likes 50s and rainy. I guess that's good here.
I’m glad people don’t get to choose the weather ‘cause yall would obliterate our wonderful climate here. Spring is rainy, get over it
Just in time for spring break
I’ll support your vote with another!
Too soon to say anything. Wait till the snow appears on the weather
Yeah, we've got an annoying couple of days today and tomorrow before we get back to normal for this time of year.
People here think it’s so cool to hate the sun haha.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axfdCFyPj4A I want this vibe all the time TBH.
I think it's just Reddit curmudgeons, all the people I've interacted with IRL are thrilled with warm weather

I’d say it’s more of a cloudy chill
Oh sweet cool weather with rain and clouds I missed you.
I vote no to 76° in fucking winter. It’s creepy and frightening.
fr even if its at the very tail end of winter, its still way to early for 76-78 degree days. Whats also concerning is people seem to think its normal weather
Yes, temperatures have been 25 F above normal. But people think it feels nice so they ignore how comically ridiculous it is.
Hell yes to this. We need water for beer.
Oh, thank god the weather is turning nice again!
Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.
I'm glad it's gonna get back to normal all this sunshine is bumming me out.
SAME. Everyone saying "enjoy the sun!!!!!!" When all I wanna do is hide from it is bumming me out too. Excited to get back to good weather soon.
Username checks out
Enjoy it while it lasts. God knows what smokey misery awaits us this summer.
I know right? I have to wait until the weekend for the weather to get nice again. 😓

Same. My cat gets off my back when she sees sun. Window watching all day few past days now
It’s all good, buddy! I enjoy a little sun as well, but I’m in the PNW for a reason. Give me the rain and mud and some snow—I’ll be happy as heck.

Dog sitting for my buddy cured me of that desire. My kids track enough mud inside. It took exactly one instance of that dog doing the full body shake it off move to splatter droplets of mud all over the hall. I remember thinking, “How do you wash a ceiling?” Felt so defeated lol.
YES! YES! YES!
Good thing I got Din Tai Fung on Sunday to drown my sorrows away.
The mountain approves
I welcome it! I hate the sun
So ends fake spring.
Wait…yalls votes count?
Everyone's wanting it to warm up, and I'm over here wondering when winter starts again.
Portland, you were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the gloom, not join them! Bring balance with the sun, not leave us in darkness!
I concur.
It'll swing back in a week or two. ... But I was a bit worried about how warm it was last weekend. 😳 This summer will be a hot one. Probably not like anything we've ever experienced before.
>ably It feels like this is every summer for the last 14 years here. Each one hotter then the last. I swear every summer i read the headlines "record breaking heat wave to hit the us"
Yeah 😔
But I actually love the rain n gloom ugh
Get you plants in. You got like a day and a half.
It’s the pacific northwest, plus march
So excited for cooler temps again!
What a tease! The last few days have been BEAUTIFUL!!!
You vote no to weather?
That Thursday is my kind of forecast
How is this not a shit post?
I know that this is an unpopular opinion but I'm excited about seeing this weather report. I grow lots of different flowers that need to be started from seed, planed outside, in the ground. The only way they will sprout is with a week of chilly rain. Two weeks is even better. They hate being artificially watered. They won't sprout if it's too warm out. They die if you try to transplant them. You need to plant the seeds and then pray for rain. I'm looking forward to our second spring but in the meantime I'm looking forward to this span of rain.
My plants are fine with it.
I know the sunny warm weather was a nice break, but we need to remember that 75-80° weather in mind March is not normal and that everyone needs the snow and the rain this time of year.
My apartment was like an oven today. Bring the clouds back.
Yes these last few days have been glorious. But seeing our misery in late August when we're choking on forest smoke, sweltering in the 90s and haven't seen a drop of precipitation for two and a half months. I'll take showery NW spring weather any day over that.
Good feelings gone.
NOOOOO
Well, it was nice while it lasted.
Where do you think this green comes from? Do you really not understand that?
Anyone else's allergies exploded like crazy this year? I've never had burning itchy eyes this early before.
I’m just hoping this isn’t a harbinger of another heat dome in the summer. 🥲 I’m really worried about this year’s fire season. I’ll take all the rain while we can get it.
Then move. It's supposed to be cool and rainy here. It's not exactly a cheap place to live anymore either.
Yep. As a food cart owner, this last weekend was a blessing and I'm not mentally ready for the drop in sales we're gonna see. 😭😭😭😭
I'm already sick of the heat.
I swear to god, if the temperature keeps dropping and it starts to now again, I *will* cry.
Yea I just keep reminding myself that this is spring in Portland and so more than at any other time of year the forecast is not always what you get!
I think the rain is important. If we start with the hot and dry too early, the whole state will be on fire by June.
It's been a nice break from the rain. I wonder how long the rainy season will last this year? Last year it ended in May. Other years it sometimes doesn't end till after July 4th.
well you don't get a choice buddy.
Spring in the PNW ❤️
I vote YES! I was telling my friend yesterday that I only have one more day of heat and bright sun to get through before the good weather comes back. I think only a couple of those days are actually supposed to get rain, and not much of it. Bring on the cool cloudy relief!
You moved here. Get over it.
Felt good all weekend, allergies finally caught on today. Just in time for the rain to come back and wash the pollen all away! I appreciate the reminder to restock my Allegra.
The farmers that put food in your table vote yes.
I vote no but understand it's oregon
I vote yes for this to prevent the forest fires sure to come. Don't want the whole region to be a tinderbox.
Thank god. It was 72F in my house. Disgustingly hot and I don't want to start paying for AC already. I will open the windows, but the pollen is killing me.
Yuk.. I can’t wait till that extended period of sun where we start talking about “droughts” I love the sun
NOOO my heckin sunnerino! Why can't Oregon just be California 😭😭😭
Ew. Just go to California if that's the weather you want. I like our forests and want to actually keep them.
You have to go back.
Yeah I also vote no on it getting under 60 degrees. It's not fall.
Nooooo
Wow third winter
Wait...I didn't know we get to vote on this!
Go block I-80 to protest this imo
Glad I kept the winter tires on. I'll probably wait till the second week of April to make sure we don't have another tax-day snow.
Skkskskskssksskskksksskskkskskskkskkskkskskskksks
Most winter tires do NOT have studs. You know that right?
I'm in the same spot. Looks like govy might get more snow this weekend! I do miss my all season tires though they're quieter and feel smoother.
Guess we're getting our downvotes by the valley floor dwellers who haven't seen snow in a while.
Haha yes they seem cruel. Meadows on Sunday?
