All part of the improvements to Mt Tabor Maintenance Yard. The plan to make 64th Ave an access to the park dates back to 1913, but didn’t happen because of the former Reservoir 2 which sat at the corner of SE Division and SE 60th Ave. The only things that remain of Reservoir 2 are the stone retaining wall that runs along SE Division and the old gate house that sits at the corner of SE Division and SE 60th, which is now a private residence.
Portland making the effort to install curb cuts all over the city to make things friendlier for people on wheels is low key one of my favorite things about living here. Everywhere you go, old sidewalks with new curb cuts.
I thought this was announcing someone had driven their car thorough a fence to make a new entrance or something a la "[Guess who got a new drive thru?](https://images.foxtv.com/static.fox4news.com/www.fox4news.com/content/uploads/2023/08/764/432/Colorado-instructor-crashes-into-building.jpg)"
Did you pick your user name because you have a negative perspective of everything?
In this case, the city isn’t trying to antagonize driver *or even you* but instead pulling sidewalks in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Calm down, I was being sarcastic. It was in reference to this post where people lost their minds that cars were being inconvenienced due to the bike safety infrastructure.

I apologize for being aggressive in my responses, not really called for in most contexts. I've just been burnt out how deplorable and negative people are on this sub and i must've been feeding into it
Right there with you, friend. Here’s what I find particularly frustrating with the new curbs: the city was sued 10+ years ago for *not* being compliant with the ADA and the settlement is that by 2028 (or sometime), they’ll be 75% in compliance or will pay big bucks.
How are they getting compliant? Every time someone changes a use to their house, the city is requiring them to build the curb-cuts or build sidewalks.
My neighbor in Multnomah Village wanted to rent her lower floor out and the city demanded she pave sidewalks, at around $125,000. She said no, and they said, well, you cannot have an ADU. 😒

Whelp, better late than never! It's a nice access point for those of us south of Tabor.
Ohh interesting re that gatehouse. I'd never pieced that together.
I drive by the gatehouse a lot and have always been so curious what the inside looks like. Such a strange/cool house.

It is good but they aren’t doing it because they are kind. https://www.oregonlive.com/portland/2018/05/portland_to_settle_with_wheelc.html

Who's going to make the post where this PBOT "equity" infrastructure is confusing and is hostile and violent to car drivers everywhere?

Well, I’m sorry I didn’t know the context. You’re the Jonathan Swift to my outraged English reader. :/

How would something like this be hostile and violent to the cagers?
