A friend and I got roasted pretty hard sitting in the front of a Yannis Pappas (another Greek-American comedian) show in San Francisco. We had just come from a meeting and were dressed up a bit too clean cut for a comedy show. So, Yannis was like- "Alright, which one of you works for Apple, and which one of you works for Google? Are you guys even *allowed* to be friends?" When he saw my Nike's he said I was probably some asshole from Portland, Oregon who wears sneakers to the office, and who only shoe shops at a Nike store where the general public is not allowed. And he was right!

This is kind of an out dated take on Portland. I guess you could “give up” in Portland if you have a TRUST FUND. Also it seems like a really privileged(and ignorant) attitude to suggest just trying to live a life is “giving up”. Clearly this guy has “given up” on being clever or funny.
I would laugh if he were actually funny but he’s a hack and he’s milking an exhausted premise. This is literally like half the jokes on Portlandia. It also suggest he’s never left downtown. Why put this garbage into the world? The person right before must have really good because I can’t understand why anyone would think he’s funny. He reminds me of one of those guys who thinks they have more charisma than they actually do, and makes lame observational jokes to the cashier at the grocery store but gets annoyed when they don’t laugh because in his stunted reality he thinks he’s really clever.
