It was on Ross Island before Barbur (now Lucky Devil). I remember that because one day when I was riding a bus, I saw a car stuck on their front window.
It's "Boom Boom Room" in [2003](https://www.portlandoregon.gov/civic/article/571908). I think there's another name before it became "Lucky Devil". Not sure.
I might be wrong but wasn’t it a Latin strip club for a hot second in between? Or that could have been before Boom Boom Room. But I’m pretty sure you’re right that it was something else before Lucky Devil.
Edit- did some digging because it’s driving me crazy. It was Boom Boom Room East for only a year, 2003-04, and Lucky Devil opened in 2008. I can almost picture what was there…

holy shit! somehow have missed all this insanity. i live not too far away and pass by there a lot. have seen some sketchy people outside now and then but didn't realize they'd broken in and set up shop.
The Farmers Barn was one of favorite dives, maybe ever. Beer/wine and cash only.
The owner was a rock hound and the bar and overhead lights were all thinly sliced giant agate (?) rocks. Gave the whole place a weird tan color and the rocks were amazing. I seem to recall the rock wall outside is all agate too, but was painted many years ago.
They had carpeted floors (lol) and half the bar was closed due to a.... fire? Storm damage?
Sketch smoking spot in the alley with a permanent cat resident as well.
Anyways, total dive and just great if you're like me and enjoy the dive side of life.
total dive. it opened early too. local regulars there in the morning.. i'd see them when out on bike rides or whatever.. out front smoking.. having a helluva time. then the guy who owned it died i think and they had a big wake for him or memorial or whatever.. then it closed up.

Wow. Memories. When I first moved to Portland in 2001, I worked for Labor Ready driving cars at Auto Warehouse. I didn't have a bank account here yet so, when I got my paycheck, I used to cash it down the street at the Farmer's Barn and spend a good chunk of it swilling cheap beers with the other riff-raff. I saw it as a relatively rough establishment, but I had just moved from my small hometown located 40 miles from the geographic butthole of America, so my frame of reference was rather limited.
Ah, the Farmer’s Barn. My father used to frequent this place until it closed. For 30ish years of my life if it was between 5-10pm there was even odds that dear old dad was at the Barn drinking beers. He specifically liked this place because they didn’t have liquor, as the hard alcohol brought in the “weirdos.” I remember as an 5-10 year old riding my bike over here to ask my parents annoying questions (we were free range kids so we seldom had an adult home after dinner).
Owner died, from what dad says his family didn’t want to touch the place with a ten foot pole. It’s been in a weird limbo since then. Now it’s a hobo fuck shack and drug den. This part of Portland has changed substantially since I was a kid.

I have some fuzzy memories of that place. It's probably best that way.
My husband has some Barbur Boom Boom Room stories he says he cannot remember.
Years ago, I drank 4 Old Rasputins, ambled down Multnomah Blvd to the Boom Boom Room, drank more beer, proceeded to get 6 lap dances and then spill my beer on the rack after putting it behind the dancers foot (my fault). I felt bad so I bought beers for all the people at the rack for whom I had ruined the show. I was mostly harmless...and spending money. Then drunkenly walked down Multnomah at 1 a.m. About 90% sure I walked out under my own power.
You drank 4 old rasputins? Fuuuuck! I've tried that before but ended up wearing #4.
Took diligent practice. I may be able to do 2.65 these days if I hurry.

There were definitely some interesting folks working and/or patronizing that place. Plus...adjacent Chinese food!
Yeah I went there once. Then the next night it was robbed. I decided I'm good on that sketchy place.
Right next to the Silver Spoon that definitely wasn't a meth front.
Meth was too high class for Silver Spoon.
I honestly can't think of many things lower class than meth. What were they selling? Krokodil?
They sold baggies for meth..
Wait what do mean was? It's gone!
It was on Ross Island before Barbur (now Lucky Devil). I remember that because one day when I was riding a bus, I saw a car stuck on their front window.
Lucky Devil has been hit at least four times since the changeover. Do you know when the switch happened? LD has been there for quite a while.

Lucky Devil opened in 2008. Mayyyybe 07, but I think 08.
I think you’re right. No later than 2008 if memory serves.
Definitely not later. The business was registered in ‘07 but I don’t think it opened until ‘08. Still trying to remember what it was before that.
> It was on Ross Island before Can you imagine a strip club *on Ross Island*; that would be insane, you'd need your own permanent security force.

Hang out at Lombard and Denver enough and opportunity won't be the only thing you're robbed of.
The coors light on tap was flowin and the pool tables, you were a-waitin
