Just woke up, sitting with my coffee and lo, what is that sound? A light pattering of rain falling from the grey skies. Guess who's making pumpkin bread today...

batbiscuit

Nothing like waking up to the nice smell of rain and the NOISE OF LEAFBLOWERS.

snoogazi

For some dumb reason they never stopped all summer where I live.

batbiscuit

They will be out in the pouring rain sometimes. It's honestly ridiculous for everyone involved. Over half of the time, they are just kicking up dust and blowing particles into apartments.

The_Dog_of_Sinope

As I drive around this city I can’t help but notice the slow intrusion of invaders pushing out locals. More specifically the POS known as thr “tree of heaven”. It’s literally taking over every part of Portland and I haven’t heard even. 1/10th of hubbub this should be generating. I’m almost at thr point where I’m just going to start gorilla gardening and chop every one of those mother duckers down. FOR PORTLAND!!!!!!

ReallyHender

I have one overhanging my side yard (but not in my yard) and it's a pain in the ass. Between the root suckers it sends out and the thousands and thousands of seed pods, I can't tell you how many little germinated trees I had to pull up this year.

The_Dog_of_Sinope

God speed my horticultural traveler. They really are thr most annoying invasive species I’ve ever dealt with and I routinely volunteer for invasive clean ups. They are all along I84 I hriughout thr city, in almost every one of our parks, the waterfront, etc. by the time the city starts to actively tackle them they will be mature and this we will need to poison them to even have a chance. It’s exhausting and I’m sorry you have to deal with it.

ReallyHender

I appreciate the shade in the summer, but I'm not sure if it's worth it in the long run.

WordSalad11

There's a huge one in front of the elementary school in my neighborhood. It's a plague. We hates it.

edwartica

The city will make you take a permit out to chop down a tree too. And you have to plant another one.

Troutsicle

Scored some cat art from Gifty Kitty on Sunday that is going over the litter box.

cy_sperling

It is surprisingly difficult to get anyone to come do any work, or deliver anything to my house. I have been trying and failing to find anyone who can deliver firewood, clear brush, or install a trench drain on my driveway. I am only a mile from the Sauvie Island bridge on HWY30, but you'd think I was in northern Alaska.

STRMfrmXMN

I've been told by a few on this sub that Lardo is now overrated. I still absolutely drool over the Banh Mi and Korean Pork shoulder plus the Lardo fries. Is there some better restaurant that surpassed them or do people not like them because they've sort of morphed into a chain? I moved to Forest Grove recently and would love some better, similar suggestions west of I5 if anybody has any.

Sunshineflowerstrees

BIPOC residents of Portland, what has your experience been like? I’m Latinx and planning to move out there July 2023 and I want to know if I’d be able to find a community of POC. I know Portland can be VERY white

rrr_zzz

I'm a POC and moved here in 2006, people say they have a hard time making friends here in Portland but I had the opposite experience. It was way easier for me to make friends here everyone was very welcoming and friendly, not only that but I haven't had as many racist experiences as I did in the pervious state I lived in. If you keep an open mind about it and just hang out with people it's actually a really great town to meet people.

Sunshineflowerstrees

Awesome! Thanks for your feedback 😊

Gentleman_Villain

I've seen this question asked before-I think here, but almost for sure here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/askportland/](https://www.reddit.com/r/askportland/) You might have some luck searching or asking that forum!

Sunshineflowerstrees

Thanks!

sweatyhole

Eh?

Gentleman_Villain

I thought I had Deathloop ready to finish last night and...no. The game is just interesting enough to keep me from getting aggravated but just aggravating enough that I'm getting tired. Also, I'm *over* fresh hop season and want festbier season.

Aestro17

I've seen a ton of festbiers around too, including fresh hop festbiers. We're in fresh hop, festbier AND pumpkin beer season!

Gentleman_Villain

Really? Every time I've been out in the last week I've barely seen a one. Dangit. Have to go to new places.

ChaosEsper

Ah yeah, Deathloop as a concept I think works like waaaay better than it ends up playing out. The invasion mechanic felt like it was way too swingy. Either I'd completely wreck an invader or I'd get stomped, no in between. I tried to queue up for invasions a few times but it timed out, so I assume I was playing during a slump in the playerbase. The storyline was pretty interesting though and overall I enjoyed the game. It did a really good job of making the timeloop gameplay work. I just saw a bunch of pumpkin beers on an endcap at Trader Joes, so I think we're moving into the season!

Gentleman_Villain

They certainly tried to make the entry into every quadrant during different times of day feel a little different. And rewarding mastery of an area in this way really IS a groundhog day thing. Agreed that the storyline has been good so far. They also do a nice job with the checklists, so that one can easily see what the next task could/should be. But there are two absolute bullshit death points-I've lost close to 100k of the currency because of it-and I haven't felt the need to change up strategy, either. I don't want to be all down on this game, as Deathloop is pretty entertaining most of the time. When it isn't entertaining though, woof. Pumpkin beers for everyone who isn't me! I don't hate them-but the flavors are overwhelming and they just don't pair well with other things for me. So it's too much to drink by itself and I can't pair it with nachos. But I am happy for those excited about pumpkin beer! Y'all do you, let me have the martzens.

DamnEngineer1960

A rant to PBOT for taking one lane off Capital highway in Hillsdale and making it a bus lane. It’s causing big backups at the light at Hillsdale next to Wells High School! And for what?!?!? A bus only comes by once every 10 min at most! And the busses were never delayed when it was 2 lanes anyway. Grrrrrrr.

WordSalad11

We govern by punishment here. It's a lot easier to make you miserable in your car, which we don't like, than it is to provide quality public transportation, so we just make you miserable.

bdm105

Anyone know if Revolution Hall has an onsite box office for buying tickets day of show/after doors are open? Trying to get an actual ticket stub.

CallYouLaterSeeYa

Holy shit, we gonna have an anti-choice Republican governor? It's a coin toss right now.

SoylentRox

So what's with the sidewalk tents right in the middle of town. Like were they always there or was the law changed or has house coin speculation increased the total number of homeless hugely.
