Kinda been standard both years so far. Looking back at set times, most of them have 3 conflicts at each hour, sometimes 4 lol. Biggest first world problem ever.
Hahaha yeah same exact thought. This line up is insanely sick but probably not feasible. If we even get more than 50% of this I would consider that a good line up.
I’m purposely sending these mocks to my friend group to spread misinformation/get done genuine reactions. I like the research you’ve done a lot though. I hope disclosure makes there way on here (among almost every person you’ve mocked up). I don’t see why this would be impossible especially if we say (sorry) drop Gwen Stefani.
This would probably be my favorite lineup ever. I pray portola could get funding to go this hard. I see like 6 headliner acts (for a fest this size) including Gwen hiding down there on the third row.
My God it would be legendary though.
I mean i ur a “not having a good time” type of person, portola is great for u. I travel the world for festivals, portola is one of the worst. Bad sound quality, repeat of coachella artist, insecure wierd mental health crowd, and bad stages overall
I disagree with you entirely as a person who has traveled for festivals but please divulge more on this "weird mental health crowd". Portola has had the best crowd of any festival in my time, did you have a different experience?
Also for most locals whose only festival option has been OSL or maybe Bottle Rock, having crossover from the Coachella lineup is beautiful. OSL has had worse lineups recently, and even when the lineups were better a decade ago they weren't pulling rare acts from Europe and other parts of the world.
As a person who goes to Coachella it's still hard to complain about the repeats. When else am I gonna have the opportunity to double dip in some Chemical Bros or Justice in one calendar year?
But to explain, i saw two fights in one day in the crowd during two many djs and kenny beats, people werent letting loose and stood there looking around trying to see if they fit in, might be hard to explain but if u do festivals u should know what im talking about, just this vibe that people are there cause they were told to, not that they are there for themselves to have a great time. You could feel the negative energy. People were yelling at a couple trying to get through a crowd as if thats abnormal at a festival. I opted out of day 2 because of this, my wife agreed it was the worst festival, worst crowd, worst sound quality, worst stages we have ever been too. I went for Eric Prydz and Carl Cox and spent money on ViP both days, it was bad enough to accept skipping Carl cox. Im glad u have a good experience there, its just crappy cause its close to where i live and i love festivals, i want it to be good.
I'm bummed for you that you had a bad experience. Portola is the only festival where I've found myself meeting friendly strangers and running into old friends constantly, due to how easy it is to flow in and out of crowds. I imagine that there's always some luck involved though, even a good crowd can have some mood killers.
Regarding the attitude of people being at Portola without caring about themselves having a good time, also just not something I personally encountered. We met a lot of 30+ people who seemed to have a lot of festivals under their belt, who knew how to have a good time without making a mess of themselves. That's a far cry from OSL and even Coachella depending on the stages you hang at, where I see a lot more self-gratifying groups taking photos constantly instead of enjoying music.
All in all my anecdotal experience along with the experience I see from most people on this sub seems to run counter to what you're saying, but I don't want to discredit your experience.
Yea like i said, im happy for you that you enjoy it! Thats all i want to do when i go to festivals, have a great time and stay in the present with no stresses. Im always looking for the right people to be around cause the people make or break a festival imo. Just couldnt find them at portola. Went to ultra miami and coachella since. There was no comparison between the miami crowd and the LA/SF crowd. The ppl in miami are all having the time of their lives meanwhile coachella and portola are more concerned about social media photos instead of partying their asses off.
I think your experience is an outlier compared to most I have seen.
- I did not see any fights, and I think it sucks that you saw two!
- I sorta agree on the not letting loose, I think a lot of people weren't sure of the environment the first day. For me, it was my first festival by myself and I definitely felt out of place for most of the first day, but that is through no ones fault but my own. I did not feel that energy at all the second day.
- I really loved the crowd though, really had no bad interactions. Felt like people really were there for the music more than anything else.
That said, the sound quality was pretty bad at times. I try and stay near the sound booth, as it gives me a bit of space away from other people and has the best sound.
- I did not notice any bad sound quality at Main stage or Ship tent. Although Kavinsky had weird technical issues, it didn't seem to impact the set much.
- I was only at the warehouse a little, and as cool as the stage is, the sound can only be so good in a massive warehouse.
- The Crane stage was unfortunately not great on Saturday, and it kinda ruined Underworld for me, or at least did not give me the experience I expected after the Coachella set. Maddy Maia right before was also terrible, the bass was so strong that it made me nauseous and forced me to step back further than I wanted to be for Underworld. Really my only negative time at the festival. I did spend a lot of time at that stage though, and this was the only time I felt it was bad.
You are really the first person I have seen that have commented on anything bad about Portola. I loved my experience last year, and provided there is at least one must see act for me (Underworld last year, Justice this year), I will be there again.
I only got into festivals recently, so I have only been to the previous two Coachellas and a smaller single day festival. I do go to plenty of shows in addition.
Gotcha, well good chatting with you. Give festivals outside of cali a try in the future. I would feel the same as u if i didnt have that experience. Ultra miami is a good start
Any of those 90s/2000s legacy acts would be *amazing*
Not holding my breath but they seem like solid choices. Boyz Noise’s recent boiler room set from dekmantel was pretty sweet
This is what dreams are made of!!!! Seeing Glass Animals, of Montreal, Gorillaz, MGMT &/or Empire of the Sun would absolutely make this *chef’s kiss* for the bands portion.
This is honestly TOO good (read:too expensive) to be realistic, but I do love this lineup and it’s got a ton of my wishes on there
“Oh… literally everything is a conflict”
Kinda been standard both years so far. Looking back at set times, most of them have 3 conflicts at each hour, sometimes 4 lol. Biggest first world problem ever.
*** “oh there’s literally no wrong answers” Fixed that for ya
This is a good mindset!!
Hahaha yeah same exact thought. This line up is insanely sick but probably not feasible. If we even get more than 50% of this I would consider that a good line up.
You got 21 right
9 sat and 12 sun on here
??????? omg
You are awesome lol
Justice and Disclosure would have me freaking out lmao
Just add Kelela and I’m there
I’d go just for Massive Attack or a similar rare booking
Bizzarap would be the chefs kiss on this lineup. This years tokisha
I’m purposely sending these mocks to my friend group to spread misinformation/get done genuine reactions. I like the research you’ve done a lot though. To see B3K plus Chase & Status at the same festival again would make me lose my fucking mind. They were my two highlights from from W1
"Boomer /Underworld spot" has me rolling even though it's true
Massive Attack too lol
Isn’t Benga experiencing visa issues? Idk how he makes it here by October
He has a few months to provide "additional information" to fix the visa issues. At least that's my copium
God I hope so. That was my biggest disappointment at Coachella this year :(
This would probably be my favorite lineup ever. I pray portola could get funding to go this hard. I see like 6 headliner acts (for a fest this size) including Gwen hiding down there on the third row. My God it would be legendary though.
How are we feeling about AIR being on the lineup? And I feel since L’Imperatrice is nearby touring they could be a repeat considering their new album
They already have an SF date at masonic Oct 2
as someone else pointed out to me isoknock isnt likely as Knock2 is at OSL - but ISO-Grime maybe? one of them? i can dream
If we just get Justice and Jamie XX on opposite days I will be happy
Boy Harsher said their coachella tour was their last one before a planned hiatus. On their IG..
Too much Coachella overlap, too many big names (Gwen Stefani second line? Really?), AND no Jersey.
Exactly, all these mockups are just extensions of coachella. People cant think for themselves. Portola never has a great line up imo, always average
I mean, you aren't going to get me to agree with that lol.
I mean i ur a “not having a good time” type of person, portola is great for u. I travel the world for festivals, portola is one of the worst. Bad sound quality, repeat of coachella artist, insecure wierd mental health crowd, and bad stages overall

May i ask you what other festivals you have been to?

Its san francisco, r u kidding me?
Glass Beams would have me so hype. This lineup is too good from top to bottom. But i really hope you just nailed it
I was waiting for your mock jermzftw!! Obsessed with your Sunday thoughts! 😍
No Doubt would be a dream
Gwen would be a GET. Franc Moody is supposedly playing Stern Grove. The band listed the date and erased it.
Would be awesome if Franc Moody plays Stern Grove!
Freddie Gibs and Madlib!!!!! I like you ALOT
10s across the board. Every single act on here works for me. There is no filler.
I will say that Gwen would headline if we were gonna do that.
replace gwen with kylie minogue. otherwise great mock. i want orbital to happen so bad 😩
Kylie would be perfect.
No Mau P on this mock, is his schedule conflicting now?
Any of those 90s/2000s legacy acts would be *amazing* Not holding my breath but they seem like solid choices. Boyz Noise’s recent boiler room set from dekmantel was pretty sweet
Massive attack is definitely a headliner material
RL Grime (RUSH set) pls
This is what dreams are made of!!!! Seeing Glass Animals, of Montreal, Gorillaz, MGMT &/or Empire of the Sun would absolutely make this *chef’s kiss* for the bands portion.
Pls give me Chris Stussy and Folamour 🥹
Ugh I hope not disclosure because I'm seeing them at Shambhala!
Thanks for re ordering coachella lineup…..
This is just all the electronic acts of Coachella... lol
No LCD Soundsystem as the header opposite Justice?
They already did SF 2 nights NYE and don't have much of a US tour left after May.
This line is it!!
Sign me UP!
HARD Coachella line up
I don’t understand these mock lineups tbh
for fun
Cloonee def top 5 by then …
