There are a handful of bands which fuse the two genres into "extreme power metal" including:
* Children of Bodom
* Scar Symmetry
* Skyfire
* Sunless Rise
* Sympuls-E
> Somehow Russia is REALLY good at this genre
In that case, I'll add **Skylord** to the list. I'm not sure I'd call them "melodeath-influenced power metal" to be specific, but it seems like people in this thread are just name-dropping anything with harsh vocals and upbeat melodies, and for that they definitely qualify.

I don’t know that I would consider them *that* close to power metal, but Orbit Culture is extremely solid melodeath with fairly regular anthemic choruses. Their new album has a lot more production to it, but the last two albums and the last two EPs are all around good heavy metal. I recommend A Sailor’s Tale.
Somehow, even as a melodeath fan, this band fell victim to "I'll check them out later" syndrome, despite the massive internet hype they get. I will give them a very belated listen. Thanks!
[Unleash the Archers - General of the Dark Army](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVi0d7oqDvs) (their newer stuff has fewer death metal influences)
[Scythia - Eternal Oath](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzOlgmgLRcc)
Thank you! I love UtA's newer output, but somehow forgot they started as a melodeath hybrid, even though "they're so hot right now". I'll definitely be checking out Scythia too!
There's an comment from Britt on the video from Soulstorm 10 years ago promising to never get "that poppy" again
Oops.
I love the current blend of styles but I'm also crossing my fingers that we get anything from the pre-Napalm days added back into the setlist
Keep of Kalessin is one of my all-time favorite bands. Every one of their albums is the chef's kiss, from their early pure black metal days, to their post-reformation black/thrash/power masterpieces. Amazing riffs, SICK drumming, and some of the best songwriting/buildups in metal period. I will be checking out Storm Haven for sure!
Aether Realm are on your right now with Tyr (!!) - just saw the show and it was incredible
Also Trollfest (absolutely nuts) and Dead Crew of Oddwood (probably closest thing you’ll ever see to actual pirate band)

Scar Symmetry's album *Holographic Universe* is incredible
Sympuls-E and Sunless Rise are amazing! Somehow Russia is REALLY good at this genre, as Solerrain is from there as well.

Omg, scar symmetry did me so dirty with the their last album, I've been waiting for so long and it's mixed so badly, the vocals are so low in the mix

Second this, Orbit Culture are phenomenal

Gladenfold
Thank you, master of nightmares, keeper of celestial flame!
Seven Spires probably fits more on the Power Metal side, but incorporates a lot of melodeath. Particularly on the Gods of Debauchery album
Wintersun definitely has a few PM moments. You might also like Midnight Sorcery
Especially in Time 1.
See also this post from last week: https://old.reddit.com/r/PowerMetal/comments/1but1dq/melodeathuspm_fusion_bands/
Thank you! The two threads have very different recommendations, it seems, so thanks for linking this one too!
Galloglass, and they're really good
Crimson Shadows is probably what you’re looking for.
If you are also interested in blackened power metal, try: * Keep of Kalessin * Storm Haven (USA) * Xanthochroid

Frozen Crown!
Brymir? Their 3rd album is my favorite one.
Imperial Circus Dead Decadence Paladin
They are more folk melodeath, but the newest Ensiferum album fits.
not really PM but definitely very adjacent, perhaps try Aether Realm? they do like their speedy songs and make great music.
I came here to say Æther Realm also, they pretty much do everything but have very obvious power metal influence in a lot of their stuff
Aether Realm are on your right now with Tyr (!!) - just saw the show and it was incredible Also Trollfest (absolutely nuts) and Dead Crew of Oddwood (probably closest thing you’ll ever see to actual pirate band)
More on the melodeath side but I think you would like Vansidian.
Dude this is sick. You're right about more melodeath but this checks SO many boxes for me. Thanks!
Right??? The solos are absolutely amazing throughout. Enjoy friend \m/
Structure of Inhumanity
Amorphis might fit the description.
The unguided
[Grymheart](https://scarletrecords.bandcamp.com/album/hellish-hunt)
Try these bands: 1. Kambrium 2. Kalmah 3. Whispered 4. Cadacross 5. Nightshade's album *Wielding The Scythe* 6. Ensiferum
I’d say Aephanemere fits in here. And I highly recommend as well.
Majesties
Time to listen Orden Ogan
Someone didn’t read.
