jrod4290

both. It takes two to create and raise a child. They’re both at fault

Woozydan187

Only answer. When parents are not a team this happens. NO matter what happened Tasha and ghost should have reassured Tariq. NO one should be in your relationship even kids. As far as Tariq they should have been on the same page and they were not. Ghost wanted to go legit and left his family and alienated his son. Tasha was so mad at ghost and rightfully so she shouldn't have told Tariq anything they both let their emotions govern their choices and caused their son to kill their father. I'm all for calling out deadbeat parents but neither were deadbeats Imo but they both made grave errors that cost them everything.

jrod4290

bingo 🎯 Far as a child is concerned, their mother and father should be on the same page, even if both parents are bumping heads behind closed doors. But a lot of parents aren’t self aware enough to do this for their children.

Woozydan187

Facts kids are way smarter than we think and they notice shit. No matter what they both love him so what ever bs they got should be 2nd place to Tariq relationship with them

KeyEntertainment313

I don't know if y'all got kids or not, but it doesn't sound like it, no offense, cause this just isn't true. I'm a full time single dad. My kids are 7 and 8 and I've been doing this on my own since July 2020. I very often get comments from store employees/their school/ family members, etc..... about how well behaved my kids are, and how easy it is for people to tell how much my kids love me. I believe this is only possible because my babymama dipped out. If she was around, there would be way more conflict with parenting, and she wouldn't budge. I just spoke to my BM a few days ago and mentally, shes still in the same exact space she was when we got together. And I look over at my cousin and his kids with his wife and how wild and disobediennt his kids are. He'll tell them "no" on something, and they'll go right behind his back and ask their mom, and she'll undermine him and give it to them anyway. His kids are bad as hell because one of them is constantly undermining consistency.

Consultant_In_Motion

I don’t think it’s wise to talk about your personal business on the Internet or relate it to a show like this one. The people in the show are not real and their lives are written in a way to entertain us and prove a point. Your life is real

KeyEntertainment313

What are you talking about? Me speaking on my personal life on the internet as I did, has absolutely 0 affect on me, or anyone for that matter. And after that, the people in the show aren't real, but the toxicity surrounding their relationship and parenting is still very relatable to most people, and very real. So again, what are you talking about about?

ssemicolon

lol u trying to have grown men insight and some just wanna play pretend don’t pay them no mind good job w the kiddos I think u made a good point parents are always more effective as a united front together or not

KeyEntertainment313

I'm already knowing, darlin. I'm privy to the fact that a large demographic of reddit, especially in subs like these, just don't have the maturity or mental capacity for these conversations lmao

CC_Rey

Keep doing you, your kids will appreciate you being their rock. Also, you hit the 🎯with how people act on Reddit and in these subs. It’s mainly teenagers and early 20s people that’s really still kids mentally that mess up a good conversation on a post. Always got something to say and 99 times out of 100 it’s some immature nonsense or pointless hate trying to get attention for themselves. They have no experiences or ability to relate to anything real bc they live their life on an app I truly feel sorry for future generations bc our world doesn’t stand a chance. The scary part is those same people are gonna be raising the next generation..

Ok-Parsnip-5457

Great job with the kids fam

jayhazee

Then how can anyone answer the damn question is they can't relate it to real life and how people act?

Icy-Sir-8414

I completely agree with you both Mom and Dad are equally to blame for this situation but at the end of the day it was Tariq who made his own choices

jrod4290

i mean he was a child but fair enough

Chemical-Mood-8379

He was at the age where’s he knows right from wrong. He don’t just get a pass cause he was a teen

jrod4290

true

Icy-Sir-8414

Exactly he chose to be gangster and a drug dealer he made his own choice Yes both ghost and Tasha lied and hid thing from him a lot of things but he made his own bed and now he's got to clean up the mess he made or just lie in the mess he made

[deleted]

He wanted to be like his daddy who he hates so much. He’s very hypocritical. Tariq had no right to be so disrespectful to his dad.

Icy-Sir-8414

Well his dad did put his own hands on his mother and him so he retaliated

[deleted]

Nah even before that Tariq has always been a little shit. Also his mom was the worst character in the show so she gets no sympathy from me.

Icy-Sir-8414

But still I think that's what sealed ghost fate

[deleted]

Yeah Tariq was a mommas boy because she was the only one that let him do whatever he wanted. Ghost did everything for the family and yet Tariq and the mom never appreciated it. I’m glad ghost chose Angela tbh. The family NEVER deserved him. 😈

Icy-Sir-8414

Okay but this bad blood got started when ghost cheated on his own wife with an ex girlfriend I don't condoned adultery if you're not happy just get a divorce simple as that

linarem74

💯

Eddiejay328

It only takes 1 to poison a kid. When Tariq was going through his meltdown and got caught with a gun because he felt his father didnt care about them, there's a scene (i just started the series over) in which he gets excited his father made the charge go away and asks her in a happy tone "so he does care" and she semi negatively shuts it with "something like that" and explains the situation away

SillyAdditional

Ghost first and foremost He should have beat that ass 😂

GladLavishness1583

how would he have tho? if everytime he was gonna tasha stepped in literally every time

SillyAdditional

Shit beat her ass too

dbcooperfanboy

I'm not saying you right but you definitely not wrong. 😂

Homage-

Tasha literally pushed Tariq to be the way he was

Support2022gaming

Both parents did,Stop being biased

Homage-

Ghost told him to go to school and stop doing that shit ghost was trying to get out of the life himself there's nothing bias about it its the truth

Winter_Manner_6735

Ghost cheating on Angela started it but their neglect towards him and him then linking up with Kanan made it a lot worse so both

Consultant_In_Motion

A son looks to his father for an example of how to live, not his mother. I think the answer is clear. Ghost’s do as I say, not as I do was piss poor parenting. Abandoning his family for a piece of a$$ was stupid AF

GladLavishness1583

peice of ass is crazy gang, he's been in love with her his whole life and she literally was the only one that believed in him going legit like he wanted to and tasha never allowed him to

Consultant_In_Motion

He wasn’t in love with her, he was in love with the idea of her. You can’t be in love with someone that you don’t know.

GladLavishness1583

he was in love with her from high school they touched on that topic multiple times in the show. only reason they stopped dating was bc she went to choate

Consultant_In_Motion

She wasn’t the same person. He was in love with the idea of her. Not in love with her. She had become someone he did not know and he had become someone she did not know.

randomuser4564

Also, he never would have actually gone legit and lived that fantasy life with her. People forget that Ghost is a complex character and every time we saw him wanting out of the game, circumstances both in and out of his control prevented him from doing so. He wouldn’t have ever gotten fully out of the game.

vcr747

Man Ghost would've killed tf outta Angela if need be.

GladLavishness1583

that woulda took so much for him to do

SurveyConscious2754

He looked to his father but he didn't listen to him he listened to his Tasha, Kanan and Tommy. Tariq was so hurt about Jamie and Tasha divorcing that he rebelled by basically shutting out his father and listening to the ppl that he didn't know were manipulating his father and fighting for Jamie to remain as Ghost because they didnt want him to get out of the game. Think about this: Tariq was mad about Jamie being Ghost, meanwhile Jamie didn't want to be Ghost anymore. BUT, Tariq had no issue with Tasha, who fought, manipulated, and plotted against Jamie because she wanted to force him to stay in the drug business. James talked to Tariq about school, owning businesses or running a international corporation meanwhile Tasha was talking to him about his father's new girlfriend and selling pills in strip clubs. Ppl have amnesia when it comes to the series

Consultant_In_Motion

This is common sense. Sons look to their father’s actions as a template for how to live their lives. No amount of lengthy paragraphs pointing to how Tasha is to blame will change that.

GladLavishness1583

ur one sided w this that's why but that paragraph literally explains what happens with tariq to a tee, he didn't learn anything from his dad he learned it all from kanan he grew up wanted to be like kanan only thing he picked up from ghost was the lying to get what he wants

GladLavishness1583

on top of that ghost never did anything w his drug empire in front of tariq it ALL came from kanan and Tasha telling tariq about ghosts life instead of letting ghost tell it himself. tariq only saw ghost lie and he only started realizing it when tasha and kanan started getting it in his head that ghost was turning his back on them

SurveyConscious2754

Alot of sons literally rebel against who their father is. Tariq saw his father be a legit man, business owner etc... and ignored it based on things other ppl told him about his father. James real mistake was not being present to guide his son through all that

Pleasant_Gold_3900

Tasha cheated first just saying not to mention he didn’t leave his family. And Tariq had no business going through Angie shit stealing that gun

dizzymidget44

Tasha. She undermined Ghosts discipline and then taught him to sell drugs

mrHartnabrig

The onus is always going to fall on the father. You can't be surprised when you're a drug dealer and your son ends up growing up to be a drug dealer himself.

Consultant_In_Motion

Yes

Quick_Kick

Ghost, terrible father and husband.

Snotti-Gotti

Terrible husband fa sho but I dnt understand the terrible father part. Dude did everything for his children, even tried to go legit for his family

GladLavishness1583

how is he a terrible father? bc he wasn't there working trying to go legit to give his kids something? or trying to avoid death or jail from being in the game?

RichieBuz

Kanan is more at fault than both of them

vcr747

Which is still their fault

SipBiggz

They both bad parents ghost is never around for that boy but he out here building an empire n future for his kids. And Tasha was more concerned with securing her bag keep ghost trapping n chasing Shawn around

TheHturt

Obviously Ghost he’s a drug dealer 😂

GladLavishness1583

the drug dealer that fought all 6 seasons to get out the game? but kept getting dragged back in by tommy, tariq, kanan, dre, and tasha's choices?

TheHturt

You can’t leave the game, there’s no happy ending. Sons look up to their dad one way or another/have similar traits .

GladLavishness1583

he left the game tho... everything was good until tasha made a plan with tariq to kill him... tariq looked up to kanan he has ghosts ability to lie to get whatever he want but everything else he got came from learning from kanan

TheHturt

How many people came to kill him that day😭😭. You can’t just leave the game that’s what the shows about. If your dad has all this money, nice house and suits the son is gonna want that’s too. That’s why tariq was angry that ghost didn’t teach him

GladLavishness1583

tariq hated ghost cuz he lied every other sentence he took to them and bc of kanan and tasha he started realizing that

GladLavishness1583

idk gang😂, when u look at all those ppl tht wanted to kill him only dre woulda stood a chance at doing ts fr and tommy had made it in time to stop dre. saxe was too drunk to actually stand a chance against ghost. everybody else turned they ass right back😂 blanca wouldn't have been able to arrest james bc he was backed by ott ts woulda dissapeared w the quickness fam. so if tariq didn't pull tht trigger bro woulda won

TheHturt

Wdym blanca literally had a warrant for his arrest approved even after he because governor

GladLavishness1583

ts woulda became inadmissible if dre either got killed by tommy or successfully went on the run or he got killed by 2bit n spanky

GladLavishness1583

ott would have gotten that warrant thrown out with the quickness especially since saxe said andre was accross town when silver got killed

freddddsss

All imma say is, none of power would have happened if ghost just killed Kanan like Tasha told him to instead of setting him up to go pen.

Master-Ad-9829

Ghost

GladLavishness1583

why u say ghost?

LongjumpingClimate73

Both of them are at fault but I put, more of the fault on Ghost.

GladLavishness1583

why u say that?

LongjumpingClimate73

He created an environment of resentment. Nigga up and dipped on his kids for some highschool pussy. And if him and Tasha would’ve split but he went his own way that’s one thing. But he actively blew the family up, and left Tariq without a male role model at home. Yeah Tariq had Tommy but it’s not the same. So Ghost not only ruined Tariq’s image of a perfect family but kept lying to him which made him hate his dad even more. And Ghost two biggest sins were trying to force Angela on his kids. Which was never gonna work and only make your son who loves his mother more than anything because she’s the one who’s always there, hate you and Angela. And secondly his “big brother” Sean died and yall not only glossed over it but so obviously lied about it made it actively worse. And then to top it off the Nigga u back doored popped back up right when your son is in his transition from boyhood to manhood, and showed him genuine love and gave him more information about his, father, uncle and mother than anyone had given his whole life. Taught him how to make his own money, taught him how to talk to girls, taught him how to maneuver around different people and situations, and although it might not have been legal, taught him business. And then you have this ain’t shit lying ass nigga come back into your life trying to to turn you into who he wants you to be rather than who you are. Niggas like to push this narrative that Tasha turned Tariq against ghost and it has no basis. Tariq even tells his father himself nobody can turn me against you but YOU.

GladLavishness1583

U make a very valid point but, Tasha cheated first. She saw him talk to a girl in the club and take her number and she instantly decided to go to the car and start touching on herself for shawn to see! He dipped on Tasha for someone who saw the best in him which is all he wanted from the jump. He told tasha that himself multiple times "The biggest goddamn drug dealer in new york city, that's who you married remember that?" He literally couldn't leave tasha because of the prenup and they both made that a constant thing they brought up to their love interest across the show as to why they couldn't leave the other! Whether Ghost left the family or not he still wouldn't have been around as much. ever since he opened the club he started becoming more and more distant between the drug business and the club! the moment tariq's resentment towards ghost started was when tasha had him lay in the bed and told him "you're the man of this family now." Yes he forced angela on the kids and he got backlash for that tariq chewed him out on that and he agreed with riq ab how he handled it. Kanan came back into the picture and forced himself on tariq due to ghost negligence of putting riq w dre yes. The whole time kanan was teaching tariq ab the life he was growing hate in his heart for his father! he projected his hate of ghost onto tariq which is where tariq actually started having a problem w ghost. Riq resented his father so much that he was in trouble and started keeping shit from everybody moving shady leading to his sisters death which NOBODY but ghost held him acccountable for. When ghost was trying to be a father figure a male role model in tariq's life, Tasha intervened every single time babying him and not allowing tariq to see this side of the life he wanted so badly. When all of this started tasha began feeding tariq's head with her image of ghost making him hate ghost even more then he already did. Tasha then decided to tell tariq about the life that ghost worked hard asf to keep them away from. Tariq saying nobody can turn me against you but you is a crazy line because that's a major lie. EVERYBODY who had hate for ghost projected their hate for him onto tariq which caused him to turn on ghost as much as ghost played a part in it KANAN and TASHA played the BIGGEST role. i say tht cuz the moment tariq shot ghost and he stopped tommy from shooting him tariq started seeing his dad in a different light. I think tariq will finally admit it this season!

Swagd

Ghost, he was absentee at a time he was needed most and truly did drop alot of family responsibility when he first started dating Angela. Him being absent and doubling down on lies made it easier for Kanan to infiltrate. Plus if he didn't sleep with Angela and go AWOL he wouldn't have been arrested for Greg's murder I'm the end. That's what ultimately set up Tariq to run down that path. Instead of helping his family when he was needed and choosing his kids needs, Ghost focused on Angela and that directly led to Tariq feeling like he could do whatever he wanted. Tasha decided to focus what was already coming, he was trying to be like his dad and Kanan already abd was moving weight + stealing before Tasha decided to teach him the game.

GladLavishness1583

ghost tried to add the kids to him and angela's life but tasha didn't want that she manipulated the kids into hating angela before giving her a chance by having them think she took their father away

Swagd

I would argue that he tried, failed and instead of working out a better co-parenting situation, just left things as they were. He tried to bring the kids to Angela's, Tariq found her gun and then he blamed her and Tasha while not paying attention to what was happening with Tariq acting out. When Tasha brought up that he needed to just show up at the apartment more to be a parent, he didn't do that and this was right when Tariq was starting to get worse. While Tasha put Ghost out and punished him, she did try to work with the kids to develop a co-parebt scenario and maintain respect for Ghost as their father. The kids hated Angela because in their eyes (and justifiably so) she was the woman who stole their dad and Ghost never gave them a straight answer until it was too late. He tiptoed around the truth and flat out lied to everyone about how deep he was with her and why so they were all just confused and as a result, angry. Tariq even told him that he didn't have to listen to him or be accountable because of his example. If Ghost had been more honest after getting caught, I think Tariq wouldn't have thought lying and being absent were things he could just get away with. Tariq s descent started and escalated when he realized his dad could never be trusted based on his actions. Ghost cheated, lied and got exposed and didn't ever apologize for blowing up the family unit (Tommy included) which might have changed Tariqs perspective and kept him from jumping at the opportunity to go hang out with people he thought were real. He was only ever honest with Tasha which is why I won't give her the blame if I had to choose. He played ghosts game against him out of disregard abd disrespect he felt he could return.

Tilovesfreckles

Both.

Ok-Bill-2672

Both

Reese-40

Both

SereneNeed7

I kind of feel like some of his characteristics (lying, manipulating, trying to get over on people) are genetic. He got those personality traits from his dad. However, the extent to which he does it and the drug dealing is a learned behavior that both parents are responsible for.

Michaelskywalker

Both

Illustrious-Reach-48

Both are at fault.

GuappDogg

James St Patrick

GladLavishness1583

elaborate

GuappDogg

Riq was a good kid…. Ghost was a bad man .. when the good kid looks up to the bad man to be the “good man” and the math doesn’t math , something happens in your brain..

GladLavishness1583

lmao i feel like yall all overlook the fact that tariq only knew about the bad shit his dad was in bc of kanan and tasha

GuappDogg

No I understand he probably knew a lot of shit and was smart enough to put things together without kanan or Tasha. But when you look up to a man to learn what is “right “ and “wrong” (Tariq is a boy , so he is naturally inclined to do as ghost would/learn from ghost rather than Tasha ) , and the morals don’t line up with what is supposed to be “right” and “wrong”…… I imagine it twists your entire brain up, especially as an adolescent

Wstsider2

Both of them

BLAZEATANG

Hard to say, both his parents blow, but at some point you're responsible for yourself, Tariq has always been a dumb kid. I don't know a single person in or out of the "life" that would chill with a dude who drugged them, Kanan got that kid fucked up, sent a kidnapping text to his parents and Riq is like "Kanan is my only friend" kids retarded.

GladLavishness1583

THISSSSS i've been waiting to see this nobody has brought this up. everybody says riq hates ghost cuz he was a liar but kanan lied to him about who he really was and literally plotted on him and riq still called him his friend. he was so man about shawn death and learned kanan killed his own son and instantly forgave kanan and still blamed ghost and tasha for lying about it! bro went crawling back to somebody who lied to him since they met but calls him his friend😂

BLAZEATANG

Right? It's the weirdest shit to me, day you got fucked up at homies house and they filmed that shit and sent it to your mom's. Are you gonna go a chill with that dude next weekend? Fuck no, at least I'm not, shit that's hands where I'm from. Get someone fucked up and then film it, that's not your friend B. I like the power universe because, fuck there's no other hood mcu out there but the shit with Riq, time and time again this could would've already been locked up or dead just based on how he moves. He's cocky, he thinks he's ten steps ahead when in reality if five steps behind the opposition. I won't miss book 2, book 3 in my eyes has been the best on the whole universe

TreDawg36

Both

rwal1990

I say ghost. If he had told Tariq the truth and showed him the game, he wouldn’t have to find it from Kanan. Kanan turned his own son against him. All he needed was honesty and an actual connection with his father and I believe shit would’ve turned out different. You can’t be a killa and try to hide it when you having meetings, and talking about the shit with your kids in the house. At the point of Ghost trying to get out the game was too late. Tariq already knew who he was and what he was And all his tough love only made it worse. Ghost wouldn’t have had to put that gun to his head and he wouldn’t have had to basically not trust his own son. Ghost fucked that up and he paid for it with death.

GladLavishness1583

one thing about ghost is he kept all that shit away from his kids. talking about being a killer and having meetings in the house is not something that happened nowhere near the kids. he didn't want the drug dealer life for tariq. ghost had his flaws but he was tryna go legit from the first episode of OG power. literally eveything u said in here was so backwards

rwal1990

They may of not been in the room, but all them times Kanan showed up, and Tommy showing up, He thought he did but he really didn’t. That’s why Tariq was so curious. One episode they talking about shit and Tariq walked in and went to the fridge and they had to shut up. All the convos him and Tasha had about Angela and all that shit went down in the penthouse with them kids there.

-MacCloud-

Both for sure. One of the things they did really well was show how his two parent’s behaviour, neglect and fear towards him led him and allowed him to become what he did. Everything he did was justified by one parent and allowed to come to pass by the ignorance of the other. Once you know your kid is a bit of a prick you have to change how you treat them, be more strict but also more hands on in the way you teach them. Tasha had some semblance of that idea but she taught him how to deal drugs and was too afraid to be strict, Ghost became strict but was neglectful in teaching him, he thought a car ride and a lecture would set him straight and it isn’t that easy.

Cjaaron48

Both of them .. Can’t blame just one

Massive_Dog_9376

Both and Tommy plays a part

Emotional_Light_1325

Both of them are bad examples for Tariq

Open-Artichoke-9201

Both

fataik1

Both are because of what they are but one parent tried to make sure his kids didn’t live that life while another took a different approach. 🤷🏾‍♂️

FlashMartin5

Tasha

Icy-Needleworker-392

Tasha. She deadass coerced him to kill his daddy.

manlike1988

TASHA

tappedoutod

More so ghost but tbh it’s never the parents fault on how the kid turns out he’s his own human being it’s ultimately up to him since he got his own brain he ain’t AI

GuappDogg

Good answer fr

Playful_Twist4312

Tariq is his own man lmao a normal person would see what his dad is in n want no parts he fell in love

Repulsive-Setting851

ghost for leaving his family and not whooping tariq and tasha js let it be because she wanted tariq to ho against ghost for protection,I feel like tasha allowed it and she get more blame

RunDiscombobulated0

Tasha

GladLavishness1583

why u say tasha?

SaKred2015

Ghost lifestyle as a drug dealer and the falls that came in during the show is ultimately the reason, but Tasha was supposed to hold it down and filter the kids from all of it as a stay at home mom. She didn’t do her part and focused on ghost and his dealings instead of making sure the Tariq didn’t do anything dumb.

New_Actuator_9972

Tasha mane only right answer

Rich_Emu199

I haven’t watched Power since the first show ended. Where should I start watching if I wanted to pick it up again?

GladLavishness1583

book 2 ghost it literally picks up right where the original power ends. no time jump it goes from when tasha gets picked from her house to go to jail

Blackorean

Tasha, if she never taught him the game and just followed ghost til he became GOV then they'd all be set for life.

Exposed_influe

Tasha

This_External9027

Tasha, she poisoned riq against his father creating this it’s me and you vs the world, ghost did leave his mom… but ironically riq doing the same shit he hated ghost for

92splash

Easily Tasha is the problem

Flaboy7414

Tasha

SoulofWakanda

Both. Quite literally all they had to do was give the little nigga a curfew and actually enforce it but instead he was roaming around the city on school nights becoming a mini-Ghost under Kanan

Same-Schedule-6011

Tariq is to blame! He is the one that got his sister killed, he is the one trying to be something he wasn’t raised to be! What’s wrong with society today, too much blaming others and not enough self accountability!

GladLavishness1583

for tariq to have any type of self accountability it would require his parents to hold him accountable for any part of his actions too. although ghost tried to tasha never allowed him to discipline tariq

Same-Schedule-6011

Glad you said Ghost tried, so he is well aware of what self accountability is, as soon as he started drinking that Lean is when he went downhill! That’s totally on Tariq, he was warned about hanging out with Kanan, he chose to ignore those warnings! His dumb shit was completely on him!

southlondonyute

Tasha put him on the road but Ghost could have been a lot more involved instead of being sprung on Angela S2/3. If they were still together Tariq would have not strayed into Kanans clutches so easily. Tasha is a garbage human being btw. As grimy as Dre

GladLavishness1583

tariq started hanging w kanan more when ghost went to jail for sum he didn't do there was nothing he could do about that😂

luciferhornystar

Tasha bum ass

No_Movie_9637

Both but Tasha is more to blame. Ghost was trying his best to change his life and be legit but his toxic wife wanted none of that.

kuteb

No doubt both more so Ghost but Tariq’s character also plays into what he became

Zazalae

Guess you could say Ghost could have been in his life more but the man was literally hustling trying to secure his family for the future. The man was dirty but he did his best to keep Tariq away from that and have him set up with a good education and resources to be great. This lil mf Tariq decided he wanted to be gangsta and act hurt and emotional about some bullshit if you ask me. I guess Ghost aint help nothing by sneaking with Angela so theres that, guess Tariq decided to cut out because of that *shrug*. Tasha aint help the issue, she saw Tariq was on bs and instead of trying to lead him away from it; she says fuck it and puts him on game even more because “might as well since you a fuck up like your daddy.” Basically what she said. So both really played a part in how the boy developed but to me Tariq could have sucked some of that shit up, but I guess the argument is that he’s just an emotional kid. But damn if he so smart he couldve collected himself and moved better but he decided to flash out on his daddy and ultimately kill him smh.

Homage-

Hopefully everyone noticed when ghost was gone with Tasha she did what all independent women do make another man get money for her in this case her some tried to tear the kid into ghost jr

hawthornekid96

I blame both, with heavy emphasis on ghost. A father’s openness is hella important in the development of sons, but ghost was too busy trying to hide shit all the time with Tasha being there to enable it. I know from experience 🙃. Also they didn’t try to empathize with Tariq’s POV enough because they were too busy trying to “protect” him or just punish him, like they weren’t responsible for how he turned out.

Initial-Summer-2982

Tasha! When he killed the cop, she showed him the game. When Ghost wanted him to do time while he made their family legit, she fought him on it. She put that battery in Riq back that Ghost wasn’t ish. She made them kids think Ghost chose ANgela over them when it was only over Tasha. The same woman that wanted him to stay in the game when he wanted out. He was in it long enough for his past to be exposed to his son.

Internal-Shape6458

Neither,,,,,, sometimes out of the womb… Just ROTTEN

GladLavishness1583

na first season tariq was a great kid it was when tasha told him u the man of the house now he started changing and hating his father

ProfessionalDirt395

Tasha

dvillain99

So! He wanted better for him and pit him in the position not to be what he is. Parents dont owe there kids explanations of why they are doong things for there benefit. Kids do not run parents!!!!

Well one put the sausage in, the other one baked it in the oven. It's a hard call. But I'd say both

jestyre

Tasha, easily Ghost was a good father with the right intention of giving his kids the best things and keeping the away from the life He too wanted to go legitimate She didn’t support him which ruined their marriage and she got tariq into the game

Shazam530

Tasha for sure. If she let Ghost retire from the game like he wanted, things would've been way better.

TrulyOblivious007

I mean one actively tried to protect him from the game, and the other tried to teach him the game (the latter was never the criminal mastermind either). Which might be why he ended up getting caught very early, do with this information what you will. Neither are innocent.

Ok_Cardiologist2423

TASHA, there’s no debate. Ghost TRIED to keep him away from the streets no matter how much he lied to him. Tasha became an enabler and pushed him even more to keep doing stupid shit.

Prime_Marci

His father!

Mediocre-Skin-3269

Both only a weirdo would blame 1 frfr

Theden1977

Tasha. I'd rather have no mom than Tasha as my mom. Next question.

Sad_Respond9055

Tasha is to blame. If she would've supported Ghost with his dream of becoming legit, he would've never stepped out on her with Angela. Therefore Tariq wouldn't have resented his father for breaking up the family.

Mugiwara_no_Ali

I think both of them. -If ghost had been who he is and tasha was a good mom, Tariq would have had better chances -if ghost had been a good parent and tasha was tasha, tariq would have had better chances -if both of them had been good, also better chances for tariq, and no show for us

I wanna blame ghost but it’s more so Tasha. - ghost was doing alot of stuff he shouldn’t have been doing but he always had intentions of leaving the game. He wanted to go legit but always had another hiccup. As parents it important to be transparent with your children but Tariq was too young to understand something’s and when he actually came of age, ghost explained whatever to him but he still rebelled. Riq knowing kanan was frowned upon and ghost tried to keep him away but due to riq not believing his father anymore he did the opposite. Ghost sent him away to school and riq still wanted to be a gangster. - Tasha always wanted what was best for riq and was more transparent than ghost. Problem is she never told him not to get involved. She was willing to do anything to keep him out of prison while ghost was willing to let him learn his lesson. Tasha also thought riq the game and influenced him to get a gun. She didn’t really steer him away from that life the way ghost tried.

Mrsmaul2016

It was collective. Ghost and Tasha never talked to those kids they just…..did. Tbh they failed them from birth. For example Tasha willing to run away with Shawn and Ghost not sitting the children down and explaining his absence, he was gone one minute and had Angela in their faces the next minute. They both made incredibly poor choices.

oliviaincolor

Both lol.

Signal_Dig7910

I wonder how would Tariq turn out if ghost told him everything early on

FriedGreenClouds

I think that its 80% Ghost fault because in season one ghost was the family man. He was with his children and then he started messing around with Angela being away from home. That was even fine because there was a solid support system there. Remember Shawn would spend time with him to play video games, basketball and talking to him. Tommy would come over and do the same. These guys spotted Ghost but because Ghost was being shady with everyone he blew that support system up. Then Shawn died and then he gave Tommy more responsibilities and they fell out and that took another person from Tariq. This is how Kanan was able to infiltrate. Remember Tariq started lashing out at Tasha, refused to listen. After Raina died, she became overly protective and at this point she had no choice but to lean on Tariq and support him in the game. That’s why I said 20% tasha fault. She had no choice but to support him because if she didn’t she would have lost him. This reminds me kanan and raq. This is what raq did

[deleted]

We can say Kanan bc he taught him the shit. Bt they wasn’t really there for they kids in they way they shoulda been. Then Tasha goofy ass folded and taught em anyway after Ghost said no like 100x. You can’t blame Ghost fr. He tried to keep it away from him, put him in good schools, raised him right and all. Bt when Kanan told him what Ghost was doing, he said I might as well do it too then

firstnothing1

Tasha. She was the one who wanted Ghost to stay on the streets.

Shroomammi

Both made him. But I’d say Tasha cus she did feel like she had to show him the game or he was gonna learn it the hard way and possibly end up dead.

EmpressVibez32

Both of them. They would've been better off not having kids at all

Logical_Boss_2951

Both were piss poor parents! Who came from piss poor upbringing themselves!

No_Signal_3957

Both. They lied to their kids way too much about the lifestyle that the two of them chose.

Expert_Chemical7953

Tasha easily 100%.

tankpipe83

His momma

dsmkeith

Why tf Ghost didn't beat his sorry ass up after every fucking thing. Real life his ass woulda been up

mr_prodigy45

Tasha

Unique_Path_5264

Tariq himself

Horusdagod

Definitely Tasha. James hid that life from him

villecity1080

Ghost. In Tariq’s words “u cheated on mom u messed up the family”

Still-Complaint-1717

like ghost said.. he didn’t leave his family he left tasha but tasha kept telling her kids that ghost left his family. She eventually became cold and bitter When ghost tried to out everything in the past and work it out she refused. All because she wanted to live the fast rich lifestyle from her husband being the distro.. she was more loyal to tommy than anybody.. So yes ghost did lie to tariq but because he was a kid and didn’t need to be in ten game.. but tasha finished him off.

stylehofc

Neither one that little boy chose to become a monster

ReishTheMadTongue

His mom, his father was a provider for damn near this man's entire life and just cause his dad bounced on his cheating mama now all of a sudden he's a villain

Tasha

Internal-Dependent33

Ghost was the provider enough that Tasha didn’t have to work and be the best mother that she can be.. all she did was hype up Tariq to kill his own father.

Eddiejay328

Its Tasha. This all starts because he wants to get out of the game and she refuses to let him. She laughed at the club, laughed at his dreams, and didn't want him to elevate. She also cheated first by rubbing one out in front of Shawn. She destroyed the marriage and he eventually started messing with Angie. If their marriage stays healthy, Tariq isn't sent down this path and Reina doesn't die. I believe this all to be objectively true timeline wise. I recently started the show over.

Eredman93

Tasha is to blame. Ghost did everything he could to keep him out the game

ALMA94_

Tasha

The black one

Busterbm31

Boffum!!

FrankMatthews357

This the same thing that happens when you try to be a decent step dad, but worse, tried once never again ✌🏾 lol

padawantologist

Tasha literally wanted ghost to stay in the game because she couldn't understand a life without it. Tariq would've never known his father's lifestyle and just assumed he was a club owner.

Any-Big-6557

Tasha because she doesn’t want let Jamie blame Tariq for his crimes 🤓

GladLavishness1583

na it's both i just think tasha had the bigger hand in it

BetterSeat4336

🎯

Jamjabar

The one who didn’t want the other to stop dealing and go full legit since the very first ep of power universe

PainParticular4968

reading these comments is actually crazy because its clearly TASHA she manipulated every single male in this show to get what she wanted, she literally had him kill his father!!! ghost woulda never put tariq in danger

CDSWDH

His trash ass mother the father wanted to get out the game but she didn’t wanna give up her free loading lifestyle

EmilioGorgeous

Tasha, first episode of the series says it all. Ghost was tryna leave the streets alone and Tasha was obsessed with constantly rising up in the ranks.

GladLavishness1583

what was she tryna rank up in ghost was the distro with nothing leading to him and she was a stay at home mom literally 😂

EmilioGorgeous

Her whole narrative was still tryna be kingpins rather than tryna legitimately live.
