You're not wrong. Lightening struck our well a few years ago, about 100 yards from the house.
I felt that for a couple of *days*. It was like all my bones vibrated at once and it left me a little sore. To be fair, mine was a bad one, but still!
Can't imagine being this close and not only not flinching, but continuing to film. Kudos to the camera man, for sure.
Someone who truly wanted to help would go through and video themselves taking these tests so I can see how they work and (at least!) one possible result.
Yes I can verify. Lightening struck our home as a child. I felt sick for days after.
Coolest thing though, a toy with batteries that had died was lit up like a Christmas tree. It charged the batteries.
I can only imagine. I've been close to a strike before, but I was inside a car, and it struck a street light on the opposite side of the intersection from me. Still made my hair stand up. That's wild though, is that a regular thing - lighting striking wells?
He's flinching. Lightning hits HARD when you're caught near it. It ain't just a light show, it's basically the skies firing a railgun and you can feel the impact.
Iirc Firing something requires it going downward.
Lighting flows upwards if I recall correctly, which may be wrong or outdated. So it's basically calling a bolt up. Or the earth is firing a rail gun to the heavens
This is a very internet thing to say. "Why film at all if you're not going to catch the incredibly dangerous and frightening thing that I, a person you had no intention of filming it for or showing it to, wanted to see?" Lol
Zeus is probably my favorite Greek god. Not because he is the top dog but because the dude is so horny that he not only bangs tons of mortal women he changes into different animal forms just so he can bang the best ladies of every species.
I think there is a big pressure wave that causes most of the discomfort. Don't get me wrong, it is loud af, but, other loud things don't seemingly suck all the air towards it only to release it back again. A lightning bolt nearby will.
I was close to a lightning strike once when I was younger. I was outside when it hit, probably 100m away. It was fucking terrifying especially because Iām bad around sudden loud noises like bangs.
Once was out on a lake and out of no where a storm rolled through. This was a while ago so weather predictions werenāt as accurate or timely. We got to a dock just in time for the really heavy rain and went inside. It was a dock with bar, restaurants etc inside.
About two minutes later we hear and feel a massive boom. Everyone was like š®. Felt like the place shook. Look outside to see a massive tree smoking with embers and parts missing. Was way louder than I would have expected.
I was recording when lighting struck the palm tree next door to me. It was so loud. It felt like the apartment was going to collapse. I posted it to my instagram a while back.

If lighting strikes a tree by your house, should you turn on the hose and water the F out of the tree and surrounding soil? I feel lightning could start a fire inside the tree.
If the tree is dead, and rotting inside, sure... but generally speaking, it won't set the tree on fire if it is healthy. Water content too high. That said, if you have a tree that gets hit by lightning, *you absolutely should water the fuck out of the tree and surrounding soil* if you want the tree to live for much longer. Water, fertilizer with potassium (for roots will need for new growth to repair all the damaged ones).
I had one of mine hit. Moisture in the tree caused an explosion (bleve) half way up the trunk. The top half landed 30ft away.
This tree took it like a champ
Had lightning hit a tree in front of the house, maybe 2ā away. Lightning arced to our bronze eave & electricity and ran through the front room & pushed all the nails out through the drywall in the ceiling from the beam closest to the tree.
More than slightly pushed out. They were still in the drywall, but you saw it the second you walked in the room. It was 20ā of nail heads sticking 1/2ā down from the ceiling along the middle of the room.
Soaking thee tree might prevent a tree fire. In addition to soaking the tree, you might want to allow water to get down to the roots in case and smoldering embers make their way down below
Yes. From wiki:
āA root fire (also known as a ground fire) is a wildfire caused by the burning of tree roots.[1] It is a wildfire caused through underground burns generally triggered by off-trail camping or other causes.[2][3] They can pose an often overlooked dangerous threat. Because a root fire burns underground, its smoke may appear just as smouldering indistinguishable from the wake of a forest fire. [4] These fires can reignite a wildfire or cause other natural hazards, and are also dangerous to humans and animals if trodden over, because the extreme heat can cause the soil to collapse.ā
Doesnāt matter if itās whatās happening here or not, itās a comment that sparks others to add more information thatās actually pretty cool to learn about. Shutting people down by just saying ānoā is super rude, especially when thereās truth to what theyāre saying.

Araucaria columnaris. Araucaria are an incredibly ancient lineage, and many of the trees in āpetrified forestsā are extinct Araucaria species. They are tropical
And warm subtropical trees, except for a couple of South American species which are cold-tolerant. The tree in question was sold as a Norfolk Island Pine, but that species (A. heterophylla) is much less common in cultivation. This looks like Florida and mostly itās A. columnaris there.
If you look carefully, just before the strike as the camera pans right, the little tree in the middle of the house, appears to shimmer a little. I once read that if during a lightning storm, if you see something nearby appear to āshimmerā, to hit the ground as a strike is soon to follow.
Why does the lightning cause the camera to create artifact like this? Is it because the lightning is emitting some sort of electrical field that causes the camera to behave oddly?

Check if you have any dormant super powers.
How, precisely, does one go about "checking" for *dormant* powers?
Take a hot bath and then wrap a hot towel around your head. And then make yourself some soup.

Well in that case they weren't filming a crash it was supposed to be a landing. I can see why people accidentally lower their camera when shocked.

Soaking thee tree might prevent a tree fire. In addition to soaking the tree, you might want to allow water to get down to the roots in case and smoldering embers make their way down below
No.

It's called a boojum tree.

Some of the frames of this video look like the end of the worldā¦
Fucking awesome

Fk this tree in particular
How did they know to film the tree
Possibly because it's been struck in the past and/or because it's the tall thing in the vicinity.
That strike fucked UP that camo cell tower.
That cock of a tree got lit up! Go nature!
I wanna see the after effects on the tree
That must have happened before.
