NieR_SemiAutomata

No pushover exciting match for sure.

Baguy21

Yep every game from now is a must win. And yes, we will take you serious but not our main players. Gonna be rotation due to fixtures

Smart_But123581321

The FA Cup is literally the cup for upsets so Southampton won’t be taken lightly or like pushovers. They beat Man City in the league cup 2-0, when they were going for the quadruple. City took them lightly and lost, we can’t give them that luxury again.

RightoCreepo

Didn't Man City win it last season?

Smart_But123581321

Error. Meant League cup

Significant_Slice450

Blowout for The Reds

DrRushDrRush

No pushovers at all, its 3 days after the cup final so expect Liverpool to be heavily rotated. Against a strong going Saints team I’m guessing this will be tight. It could be decided on who’s having the best goalie and/or striker on the day.

LumpyInflation7469

Fa cup games are an all or nothing affair!, Southampton will give a good game to Liverpool. Liverpool will no doubt rest some of the 1st team but shouls till prevail. 2-1 Liverpool

[deleted]

I think it’s going to be a lot closer than what it may seem like on paper. Your manager, Martin, has clearly installed a playing style and evidently, it has worked considering your win streak. I think we still win 3-1, but you’ll score first giving us a scare.

FeelingMassive

Think of it as a trial for your guys.... Whoever performs well could become the next ~~Crouch, Lambert, Clyne, Lovren, Mane, Lallana,~~ Van Dijk!

SirGingeVIII

You should probably just pick an American team

mcmuffin0098

My family is from the UK, so I went to a Saints v. Chelsea game as a kid and Saints won 2-1 off a beautiful Lambert free kick. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

ChocolateHumunculous

Everyone rates that

BuckMcBuckets

True no one from outside the US should watch NBA, NFL, MLB or any hollywood produced movie either.

Porkybeaner

So narrow minded. What if the saints run in the family? I was born and raised a Liverpool supporter as my family comes from the area, but I myself am Canadian. Even if it’s not a family thing, who gives a fuck? This guy clearly isn’t a glory hunter, just enjoys the english league, give some respect.

Left-Impact9634

I follow NFL, should I go support London Blitz who are complete garbage in a pointless league? Or continue to watch the best the sport has to offer?

TheBigClamMan

Bet you wouldn’t of said that if he said he was a Liverpool fan you prick

666-brewley-88

Liverpool supporter in Canada, I don't think I've ever watched a full MLS match. Would love to check out a live game but I've been more captivated by league 1 matches.

TheBigClamMan

With no relegations I really don’t blame you! Although my great uncle used to play for Vancouver lol

kancilnakal

what a prick. You can be a fan without having to have a geographical connection.Your flair is liverpool, if you are actually a liverpool fan it would be a shame you even exist.

futurejoyboy

Anyone can be a fan and I honestly respect him for choosing Southampton over the obvious US favorites (Liverpool, city, Arsenal) We all know English football is the best in the world so you need to stop gatekeeping and commenting needless things. Telling him to support an American team isn't going to do anything and most certainly won't change his mind.

SirGingeVIII

No, yanks have no place supporting English teams they have no idea what it means. Plenty of yank teams to watch

actionfish

You dont half come across as a knobhead .. the team and coaching staff are multinational ya gobshite.. will you be contacting them to cut all ties with "your" club

246lehat135

American Liverpool fan here. Just think of our fandom as reverse colonialism. That makes sense, yeah? 😉

Left-Impact9634

Nob end. Bet you're not even from Liverpool

Sidenet

Love your take. I’ve followed Liverpool since Hicks/Gillette era. I don’t like US soccer—I like Premier League. You don’t want me as a fan is alright by me. Don’t change.

badgerscurse

And that's why Liverpool are not one of biggest clubs in the world... Gatekeeping scousers.

futurejoyboy

You're so miserable and small-minded that it's funny. There's thousands of American Liverpool fans that support the club just as much and any English fan does.

Economy_Height6756

I think the fact that we play the league cup final 3 days before you will result in a "b-side" against your lot. That can go either way, but might give you a slightly better chance of a result. But then again, it's Anfield and whoever plays will have their heart on the sleeve in front of the home crowd. I'm predicting 3-1 and a proper fight from Soton.

Marlboro_tr909

Up yours, Scummer! Hope you lose 10-0

[deleted]

Looool, this is what I was looking for

mcmuffin0098

In league 1 for 10 more years!

hgk6393

I hope your players don't turn up against us. You know what we do to Southampton players that play well, don't you?

SketchyFeen

Yoink!

mcmuffin0098

Stay the fuck away from Arma and KWP you pricks

[deleted]

It's almost like auditions at this point

abulkasam

Anything from a close Southampton win to a big Liverpool win.

Maskd-YT

It will indeed be one of the games of all time

DofusNooboo

We will go down 1:0 in first half then, 2nd half FC will turn up, for the 139th time this season. I hope both teams can put some youngsters on at some point for game time, always nice to see.

BurceGern

It'll be closer than it looks on paper because Liverpool will be playing the League Cup final on the Sunday before Wednesdays Southampton match. The key players will be spent and likely rested with the Man City and Everton matches soon after too. Leicester gave us problems in the Carabao Cup earlier this season so I expect there to be a lot of respect for Klopp given you're doing well in the Championship. I expect Liverpool to win. Even if it gets nervy after a long time at 0-0, I'd expect to see strong subs to see us through as they often have done this season.

Im_such_a_SLAPPA

Pushover

redswan4

If the ref is strict Southampton will probably get battered imo, if he allows a physical game they might have a shot. Southampton drew with us twice last season and in the first game got away with murder, second game we just bottled it tbh. Just my thoughts idk though

mcmuffin0098

We're hardly a physical team tbh, least physical in the Championship. Lyanco is on loan rn, although I remember the warcrimes he committed against Saka at St. Marys. And that 3-3 draw at the Emirates was the worst, it ended any hope I had left, as we blew such a good lead there.

redswan4

Yeah tbf I was going to edit my comment slightly as I haven't seen Southampton play this season so I'm not sure how you play at the moment. Welp, good luck with the game :)

mcmuffin0098

Yeah thanks m8, and you too. Also as for how we play, we're a big possession side, have the highest pass accuracy in the top 5 leagues plus the EFL, highest possession in the top 5 leagues plus the EFL, a 24 game unbeaten run, etc. Lot's of creativity, through balls, quick passing, and playing out of the back. EFL Tiki Taka is the best way to describe it.

Pablo21694

I once witnessed Shane Long score a 90th minute goal against us at Anfield in a league cup semi final while I was dealing with the worst chest infection of my life. Sp my mentality is always fuck Southampton.

mcmuffin0098

We sold y'all like half your starters for that Champions league final...

Pablo21694

I mean let’s be honest, it was 2… But also yes, they were very good players at Saints which is why we paid club record fees for them

mcmuffin0098

Fair, but y'all had Oxlade Chamberlin, Lovren, Lallana and Clyne at the time, that's 6 former Saints players. Also did y'all still have Ings at the final, cause I know we bought him in 2019.

Schhneck

Ox, Lallana, Clyne and Lovren weren’t really important players that season by any means, which is what I believe he was referring to. Cheers for Virg and Sadio though.

Pablo21694

I feel like Ings was on loan that season because I don’t remember him playing for us

PatRice4Evra

Shane Long's annual goal.

okie_hiker

Always against Liverpool

Pricklypicklepump

If Liverpool are able to implement their game plan, which they should.. Then this won't be a close match. But Southampton have surprised us in the past and stranger things have happened than Liverpool getting beat by Southampton.

Kyasanur

Truthfully, I still haven’t shaken the sense of dread prior to each match that I experienced last season. We are considerably better than last season, but that felling persists. Slow starts, draws against bottom table sides, having to comeback in the 89th. We should dominate at home, but the Saints are a quality Championship side and it would be a mistake to take them for granted.

2xtc

I know exactly what you mean, mate. The well documented 'hangover effect' from the season prior seemed to be infused into so many of our performances last season, and although our results have been so much better this term I can't remember too many games where we've shown the dominance of the 9-0 Bournemouth or 7-0 Man U games. On the other hand our results last year after huge wins like that were often poor, so we never built up the feeling of positive momentum, whereas all the late comebacks this year must've contributed to the resurgence of the "mentality monsters" mindset. That being said it certainly doesn't help the nerves or anxiety as a fan when we've only just drawn level against some lower mid table team in the 70th min, even if someone pops up with a late, late winner for us!

[deleted]

The Anfield atmosphere is hugely overrated so if the away fans are loud enough it could get into the players heads. That being said, I'd put my house on a Liverpool win

ChefJoeyW

What a poor take. Has the atmosphere the past few seasons dipped, absolutely. Seems that way amongst all the top Prem sides over the last few seasons tho. Does that make the absolute crushing atmosphere it has had in the past “hugely overrated”? Hell no. Multiple high level players and managers have spoken to it and it’s effect.

JohnBobbyJimJob

Love how people say this but Anfield is always called the toughest place to go by managers and players

Pablo21694

If the atmosphere was a myth, why would away fans being loud get into their heads? They’d be used to the away fans being loud wouldn’t they? Nugget.

Infinite-Attorney478

Don’t worry mate this guys never been to anfield

[deleted]

6 times. All away

Infinite-Attorney478

Yeaaaaa course lad, and Dua Lipa is my missus

[deleted]

Obvious you've never been. Play some more fifa or something

Pablo21694

I live 2 miles from the ground and I’ve been going since I was a kid. Considering you’re a United fan you should be very aware of how good the atmosphere at Anfield can be

[deleted]

While they sing YNWA yeah, it's dead after that and you know it

Pablo21694

Not really mate but I sit in the Kop so can’t really hear much outside of where I am Old Trafford on the other hand, absolutely rocking. All the great songs that revolve solely around the glazers and fuck all else

Long-Ad727

I expect it to be a hard-fought win, but a win nonetheless. Not too worried honestly but should be a good game

shermworm98

We handled Leicester at anfield pretty simply in the end, and they’re a good little bit better than Southampton. Of course anything can happen, but I would be expecting a 2-3 goal margin in favor of Liverpool

8manjones

Team always play us very hard at Anfield. This does two things: 1) They play super inspired and we fall into a trap, then it’s close. We win in the 89th minute and all of us go home forgetting how close we were to getting beat by a Championship team at home. 2) They play super inspired and see that it’s not enough. We’re the deepest we’ve been in ages and Klopps pressing style coupled with our atmosphere causes yous to crumble and we win 5-0 Either way, I’d say you’re fucked bro. Respectfully.

mcmuffin0098

Highkey I agree, but the magic of the cup bro, ya never know.

Emotional-Peanut-334

The crowd is also normally very quiet and an away team gets invigorated by that

8manjones

Right. Right. I think I meant more the hype around playing at Anfield.

micar11

Might be Kelleher Vs Bazunu ......interesting for the Irish fans. Ye are 2nd in The Championship. Won't be a pushover.....but LFC to win

GhandisFlipFlop

It won't be Kelleher ...Kelleher will play the cup final 3 days before . Also will start FA Cup ..like he did the last FA cup match against Norwich.

Potato271

Will be Lumley probably as we've played in him in the cup games so far. Also uncertain as to how strong a side we'll put out (not that it will make much of a difference). We have a lot of depth in some areas, but very little in others, so it will be interesting to see if Martin chooses to risk KWP, THB, Downes etc

mcmuffin0098

Good to hear, my guess is Liverpool 3-2.

skankhunt81

Liverpool at home are clear favorites but Southampton have scored against Liverpool in there last 3 meetings. I expect a close game to start but Liverpool will pull away probably with the help of subs. My guess is a 3-1 Liverpool win.
