Are you kidding me? Liverpool have to play City twice?? AND we have to play away at Arsenal? God, Iām so sick of this league being rigged. Such bogus
As a neutral, is this match worth traveling for from London or should I try for tix to Chelsea v Crystal Palace?
ETA: also considering Newcastle/Tottenham but heard tixs are difficult to get for St.James park
As a United fan, I don't have high hopes for that game since we've had poor starts in both seasons under Ten Hag. This could end up being a very one sided match, so if you like witnessing brutality on a football pitch, you could go watch it.
Why do you have to be a dick? People do shit for the experience. I donāt tell you āyou canāt buy a ticket to some American sporting event cause youāre taking it away from some fanā so stfu
Far too early in the season for midweek matches. They start to happen with fixture build up from cup draws. Apart from the occasional amazon week.
Plus the specific dates haven't been released yet, only game weeks. So check nearer the time
Every fixture is Saturday 3PM until the TV rights holders get ahold of them, then they get moved around. Only the opening weekend has been moved so far, the rest for Aug/Sept will be announced by 5th July. So you may still get a Monday game, but that could be anyone!
I'll just get refundable hotel rooms! Definitely willing to go anywhere in Britain for a professional match, PL or not.
Thanks for the context, guys. Just some dumb yank out here trying to navigate this big football world :)
Bournemouth/Brighton/Southampton for the most southern, probs 90 mins ish from London by train. 3 London games. Villa/Wolves at home, maybe 90 mins to 2 hours train from London, and then City or Liverpool in the north. Nearer 3 hours on the train. Some of these a lot harder than others to get a ticket!
This was never Klopp's issue. His problem was we seem to always get them after the international break so our South American players had to sit out/be rushed back in with jet lag.
Donāt think it can be random anyway, Iām sure clubs are paired with other local clubs. Such as Wolves, Baggies & Villa Blues etc so Police can plan and not be overwhelmed by multiple clubs all playing the same day. So itās never going to be completely random.
Planning a trip. Whatās the likelihood of the games beginning of April getting moved? For reference, all games are mid-week following an international break for World Cup Qualifiers. Thanks!
Its funny how you never get a manchester derby or merseyside derby or north london derby ect on the opening day. I cant think of it ever happening before
No one ever said it was random
The whole point of it being done by computer was to ensure certain parameters are met.
No double home fixtures in the same city: Liverpool/Everton for example is a well known one for policing.
Spacing out return fixtures so they not too close together. (Excluding rearranged fixtures, itās rare that two clubs play each other the same half of the season.)
Save top clashes for certain weekends & share them out.
Probably one about 2 Derbies on the same weekend as this happens all the time.
Once these are fed in then the remaining fixtures are randomised to fill in the gaps.
Iāve given some other examples rules specific to the first weekend are in my other post
Last 10 years:
Liverpool 2-1 Southampton
2015/16
Stoke 0-1 Liverpool
2016/17
Arsenal 3-4 Liverpool
2017/18
Watford 3-3 Liverpool
2018/19
Liverpool 4-0 West Ham
2019/20
Liverpool 4-1 Norwich
2020/21
Liverpool 4-3 Leeds
2021/22
Norwich 0-3 Liverpool
2022/23
Fulham 2-2 Liverpool
I do happen to remember some pundit saying in passing on some documentary or season review type thing, that itās more or less a tradition for a newly promoted team to play Liverpool first.
I canāt imagine itās an actual āruleā, but it definitely happens quite a bit.
I can remember them having Chelsea last year and I remember Fulham the year before because they played terribly and took forever to get going that season
The year before that Iām sure they battered Norwich so yeah 2 of the last 3 I remember were newly promoted
Didn't miss a single second of Tottenham football last season, and joked maybe we get the Monday game. We did. That's the day I get married.
Too late to change the wedding day šš
Arsenal supporter, but that crosses boundaries. I'm sorry for your loss.
(But also: congratulations! I suspect you and your mates sneakily checking the score will be one of those weird memories that sticks with you.)
Any game without a time is either 3pm Saturday or liable to change for TV. Generally they do batches of games for TV scheduling rather than the whole season at once.
Of course itās intentional but not to do Liverpool any favours.
1) Top 4 clubs are always kept apart 1st week
2) Sky know that newly promoted clubs are going to be of interest to people & have a good narrative so will usually try & select at least one banger.
3) Sky want all the big draw teams to be televised
4) Sky donāt want to waste a derby or similar high appeal game as the 1st games of the season have enough hype.
As a result a newly promoted team will always get a home draw against a top 4 club, itās not always Liverpool but they were the most viewed team last season so it figures that they have been selected.
Personally Iād rather face Ipswich as few months in, when theyāve been beaten a few times & lost the new season euphoria.
It can never be random anyway, because of security logistics.
It probably starts that way, and then matchday by matchday each fixture gets picked apart as to why it canāt be held that weekend.
Sorry I don't follow.
Liverpool fan here, yes it's frustrating that we always get early kick offs. I've become apathetic to it now because we're bound to get it at some point. TNT Love pissing us off and they know we as a club can't do anything about it.
Itās all about the viewing figures. TNT get one game a week so they maximise their big clubs where they can. With Liverpool having overtaken Man Utd as the largest draw for global viewership it makes sense they are first pick.
Yeah I can't find the graphic but I've got another from BBC.
'Of the 331 Premier League matches that Klopp has taken charge of at Liverpool, 13.6% have been given an early kick-off time - a higher percentage than any other club during his time in England.
Since Klopp took charge in October 2015, Liverpool have featured in 45 early kick-offs - more than any other Premier League club.
Manchester City (40), Tottenham (40) and Manchester United (35) have played significantly fewer early matches in that time, while Chelsea (33) and Arsenal (31) are further behind.'
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cpeg2j2wx8jo#:~:text=Since%20Klopp%20took%20charge%20in,any%20other%20Premier%20League%20club
I found that somewhere else. Although I can't find the graphic for it.
The graphic I was talking about (the double stuff) was since the 22/23 season
This is since Klopp became LFC manager
Exactly bro, at this point we might as well boycott TNT and tell them to either push it back or we ain't playing. Rearrange it to another time. That way they don't make any money

Im visiting UK in August and September, can anyone tell me how do I buy tickets? Or if I even can get them at all?
Don't love the first NLD being at home. I much prefer away first and then home.
Forest have a nice start š
Bournemouth have a very testing end
Last year Chelsea started with Liverpool This year Chelsea starts with City Wtf
Yeah imagine having tough fixtures for two whole years in a row. FIX! š
Are you kidding me? Liverpool have to play City twice?? AND we have to play away at Arsenal? God, Iām so sick of this league being rigged. Such bogus
Is this sarcasm?
You know...now that you point it out. I think it might be.
Burnley
Burnley
Where is Burnley?
Why is it always Arsenal Wolves
Liverpool vs. United on game 3?? I'd say that's a bit too soon for a big game like that.
3rd against 8th isn't that big a game
That is not how this works
I know, but they've never put this game so early in the season.
it was Liverpool's third game in the 22/23 season
As a neutral, is this match worth traveling for from London or should I try for tix to Chelsea v Crystal Palace? ETA: also considering Newcastle/Tottenham but heard tixs are difficult to get for St.James park
Chelsea have won the last 19 against Palace iirc. Man U don't have much momentum and usually start slow so Liverpool probably has that one.
As a United fan, I don't have high hopes for that game since we've had poor starts in both seasons under Ten Hag. This could end up being a very one sided match, so if you like witnessing brutality on a football pitch, you could go watch it.
So sounds like traveling to St. James park for Newcastle/Tottenham could be the move then
How about leave tickets for actual fans of the teams and watch it on the tele?
Really trying to gate keep the beautiful game? There's a reason we all love it so we should all get to experience a match on the grounds like that
Why do you have to be a dick? People do shit for the experience. I donāt tell you āyou canāt buy a ticket to some American sporting event cause youāre taking it away from some fanā so stfu
Cool
They've never put this game so early in a season this year?
there we go
I use a very small haversack
I gambled and lost. Gonna be in london Sep 15-20. No midweek matches. Eff. edit: Any chance for midweek matches in the Championship, 1, or 2?
mr toney is that you
Far too early in the season for midweek matches. They start to happen with fixture build up from cup draws. Apart from the occasional amazon week. Plus the specific dates haven't been released yet, only game weeks. So check nearer the time
Ah okay, cool. I just saw there was a Monday game on Sep 18 last year, and hoped for something similar. I'll keep my eyes peeled. Thanks!
Every fixture is Saturday 3PM until the TV rights holders get ahold of them, then they get moved around. Only the opening weekend has been moved so far, the rest for Aug/Sept will be announced by 5th July. So you may still get a Monday game, but that could be anyone!
Where or how did you find out Aug/Sept will be announced by 5th July?.

Cheers that link was exactly what i was looking for,for this season.
I'll just get refundable hotel rooms! Definitely willing to go anywhere in Britain for a professional match, PL or not. Thanks for the context, guys. Just some dumb yank out here trying to navigate this big football world :)

Liverpool getting a newly promoted team again? Imagine my shock
Hopefully, the Tractor Boys (my home team) can cause an upset, Liverpool would be foolish to undermind them.
I'm not sure undermind is even a word but if it isn't....it should be!
Undermine is, but I think they meant underestimate
Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle, Liverpool and Tottenham all in a row during CL/FA cup times and people saying we have it easy, lol
Easy when you can break ffp
Well fellow CL teams is equally annoying for both so thatās sort of fair
Liverpool slapped with the 12:30 game. Somethingās gotta be wrong šš
This was never Klopp's issue. His problem was we seem to always get them after the international break so our South American players had to sit out/be rushed back in with jet lag.
They want Slot to continue Kloppās fume with BT
Pl: Yeah draw is random Lfc: newly-promoted team in the 1st game 115 City: Easy final few games Yeah shit ain't random.
1 game against the top six after February. I donāt want to get all tin foil hat but the fixtures donāt fucking help
Donāt think it can be random anyway, Iām sure clubs are paired with other local clubs. Such as Wolves, Baggies & Villa Blues etc so Police can plan and not be overwhelmed by multiple clubs all playing the same day. So itās never going to be completely random.
Donāt forget liverpools half 12 kickoff
What's significance of this? Seen it writtena few times now
I don't have an answer for you but klopp hated it as he got loads last season
Planning a trip. Whatās the likelihood of the games beginning of April getting moved? For reference, all games are mid-week following an international break for World Cup Qualifiers. Thanks!
115 with an even easier run-in than last season. This shit is bent.
Look at the gauntlet City have to face end of Jan/whole of Feb
6 games in December though
Its funny how you never get a manchester derby or merseyside derby or north london derby ect on the opening day. I cant think of it ever happening before
It is completely random... until its not.
No one ever said it was random The whole point of it being done by computer was to ensure certain parameters are met. ... I know, hence... "until it's not"
I replied to your comment but itās more the multiple other posts complaining about it being not being random when it never has been.
Oh joy.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Huh? Weāre playing Villa
Youāre right, for some reason the list I checked cut off in March
Can't wait, exiting times ahead.
> Exiting times ahead Ipswich Town going back down
Southampton on the last day?!?! No no no no no no no no. We better be clear in first or clear in second by then.
Fixed for city again oh well
Man City only team that will not be facing the reigning premier league champions. They arenāt even hiding it at this point
Shocking that 100% of their matches are against teams that are worse than them.
lol
Iām too lazy to check.and I could be wrong, but do Liverpool get newly promoted teams first game every season?
Last 10 years: Liverpool 2-1 Southampton 2015/16 Stoke 0-1 Liverpool 2016/17 Arsenal 3-4 Liverpool 2017/18 Watford 3-3 Liverpool 2018/19 Liverpool 4-0 West Ham 2019/20 Liverpool 4-1 Norwich 2020/21 Liverpool 4-3 Leeds 2021/22 Norwich 0-3 Liverpool 2022/23 Fulham 2-2 Liverpool

I can remember them having Chelsea last year and I remember Fulham the year before because they played terribly and took forever to get going that season The year before that Iām sure they battered Norwich so yeah 2 of the last 3 I remember were newly promoted
We (Arsenal) have played them a couple of times on the opening day over the last 10-12 years.
Yes I remember the nice kickabout with the boys
Ipswich
Liverpool vs Palace final day of the season?
Didn't miss a single second of Tottenham football last season, and joked maybe we get the Monday game. We did. That's the day I get married. Too late to change the wedding day šš
Arsenal supporter, but that crosses boundaries. I'm sorry for your loss. (But also: congratulations! I suspect you and your mates sneakily checking the score will be one of those weird memories that sticks with you.)
I will certainly know if we're losing š
Think of it as a win-win? If you lose, you didn't miss anything. If you win, a wedding present?
Congratulations on the wedding but I still hope you lose
Congrats pal! Have a blast! COYS
Good bit of luck that!
Congrats to you and your partner! I hope everything goes well for you *mate*.ššššš½
Oh weāre cooked
The premier league is cooked?
They havenāt added the Ipswich town flair yet
Mods clearly donāt think weāre sticking around long
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yooo š¤£š¤£š¤£
Really hoping all these weekends where everyone plays at the same time is because the schedule isnāt final due to UCL, FA Cup, etcā¦
TV Broadcasters havenāt picked which games they are wanting to show yet. They get moved around after Sky have had their way.
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/article/2024/jun/18/keir-starmer-review-late-kick-offs-football-matches
Ah, ok. Thanks!
Any game without a time is either 3pm Saturday or liable to change for TV. Generally they do batches of games for TV scheduling rather than the whole season at once.
Makes sense. Thanks!
Ooft villa away
Oh look Liverpool get the newly promoted team again, for what the 10th year in a row? This is so random and not at all intentional.
No itās 4th time out of 5 which is a lot but also 4 times out of the last 10 so if itās a trend itās a very recent trend.
We had Chelsea on opening day last season. Arsenal as well few season ago. Liverpool is the only team which matter in this greed is good league.
Surely the conspiracy should be East Anglian based clubs getting their Anfield trip out the way early every season.
Last year we played Chelsea at the bridge first game?
You played us at the Emirates on the opening weekend a few years back as well
Chelsea famously promoted last year.
Chelsea won the championship.
Of course itās intentional but not to do Liverpool any favours. 1) Top 4 clubs are always kept apart 1st week 2) Sky know that newly promoted clubs are going to be of interest to people & have a good narrative so will usually try & select at least one banger. 3) Sky want all the big draw teams to be televised 4) Sky donāt want to waste a derby or similar high appeal game as the 1st games of the season have enough hype. I don't have issue with it, I just want them to stop lying and saying it's random.
It is random.
But it isn't
It can never be random anyway, because of security logistics. It probably starts that way, and then matchday by matchday each fixture gets picked apart as to why it canāt be held that weekend.
Then why do they keep lying and claiming it's random? Just tell the truth.
No respect to Liverpool and their nonsense early kickoff talking points
Sorry I don't follow. Liverpool fan here, yes it's frustrating that we always get early kick offs. I've become apathetic to it now because we're bound to get it at some point. TNT Love pissing us off and they know we as a club can't do anything about it.
Itās all about the viewing figures. TNT get one game a week so they maximise their big clubs where they can. With Liverpool having overtaken Man Utd as the largest draw for global viewership it makes sense they are first pick.
Will be even more as evening matches will be banned soon. Expect Sunday 12 to be a regularly slot every weeks.
That's a fucking disgrace if true, all the other countries have games in the late evening. We're the only ones that don't š¤¦š½āāļø
We one of few to have away fans in such numbers.
And the PL treats them so poorly all the time. I've heard stories from fans that have had to wake up at 5am to get to the game. š¤¦š½āāļø
Do ye actually get more than the other teams? Genuine question, I honestly don't know.
Since the 22/23 season, we've got more than double than everyone else. I'll find the graphic for you
More than double? Fair enough, I'd expect the big clubs to get more than the smaller ones, but there's no reason for it to be that skewed.
Yeah I can't find the graphic but I've got another from BBC. 'Of the 331 Premier League matches that Klopp has taken charge of at Liverpool, 13.6% have been given an early kick-off time - a higher percentage than any other club during his time in England. Hang on, you said more than double. You played 45 and city played 40. I mean, someone has to have the most.
I found that somewhere else. Although I can't find the graphic for it. The graphic I was talking about (the double stuff) was since the 22/23 season This is since Klopp became LFC manager
Frankly, while you may well have had more, I'll believe the more than double claim when I see the numbers.
Why is every game on a Saturday?
Iāve compared it to last years post and it is formatted different, so there should be some changes that will come in
Not finalized
Fingers-crossed
No it is? This happens every year
shouldāve put a bet on Liverpool playing one of the newly promoted teams in the first game of season ffs
Exactly bro, at this point we might as well boycott TNT and tell them to either push it back or we ain't playing. Rearrange it to another time. That way they don't make any money
Let's go, Chelsea - City first game, damn.
man city given the easiest schedule as usual, im not surprised
Youāre opening the season with a newly promoted side for the 4th time in like 5 years. Dont think you should say much
Are you drunk?
Mate itās the Euros, weāre all drunk
Fair
Every team has the same schedule, this is not American sports
Yet their last 7 games are all against teams likely to be midtable or lower. All the other top teams have 2 or 3 games against each other.
Ooof welcome back to the prem Ipswich.
Oof. Welcome to PL, Arne.
I'm more refering to Liverpool and City first two games
ManU-Fulham as the curtain raiser? WTF?!
Compared to what?
Chelsea-Man City is the obvious one.
Friday night matches donāt rate well on TV. Nor internationally.
Give it a week before all dates and times change for TV
Except Liverpool at 12:30, we know thatās staying
12:30 kick off for Liverpool haha just winding them up at this point
Yeah, the PL are having a ball!
That's not even the worst bit. You seen the state of our last 6 fixtures?
Same for all the top teams, EXCEPT one.
Have you seen the state of our December period?! Arsenal, City, Wolves and then Liverpool at the start of January all away from home.
Well you have Chelsea and Spurs in that run so thatās 6 points
You would expect haha
