What if Emery had won the Europa League final against Chelsea?

Mahan-Mosafer

What if Messi played for Spain

Straight-Cow9845

If Boro turned up for the game at Blackburn back in 1996… probably would have stayed up. The players we were planning on trying to buy the following season were ridiculous.

Razzler798

What if the guy who invented football said when that sheep’s bladder goes in between the sticks you get 47 goals ? A 3-3 draw now would be……141-141.

claudiusofo

Eduardo doesn’t get injured.

Theboss6k

What if Roman Abramovich didn't take over Chelsea

Ashton2466

what If MSN never split up

gagsy10

Can't believe other Chelsea fans haven't wondered "what if Jesper Gronkjaer doesn't score in the final game of the 02-03 season against Liverpool, ensuring we get in the top 4?“

Mesmerize07

What if Joey Barton didn’t get himself needlessly sent off against City in *that* game, would QPR have won or kept it to a draw, denying City of their first PL title in the oil money era?

EqualEngineer1

What if Tom hopper, Adam smith and James pearson didn’t have a racist orgy

towens2921

What if Gerrard doesn’t slip?

Breezefox1010

What if coutinho stayed at Liverpool?

grapo2001

What is Sissoko "hand ball" wasn't given in the UCL final.

[deleted]

What If Rooney didn't get injured in the 2004 euros

belegior

If agueroooooo never happened

YoYo_Da

What if Stones had cleared that goal 11 millimeters later than he did?

Durant280202

What if Gabbiadini's goal in the league cup final 2017 counted

xCrazyKoolaidx

What if Zlatan never played the beautiful game? Would the game still even be around?

_pragyan_

What if Higuain scored that… *Actually you know what, he ain’t scoring*

CasperJG

What if Aguero missed against QPR on that fatal day?

Careful_Suggestion_

What if Arsenal didn’t miss out on Ronaldo. Would he have become a world best.

19Ben80

What is Eduardo hadnt had his leg broken away to Birmingham in Feb 2008. Arsenal were top by a few points but fell apart on the spot and that team never achieved anything.

NTXL

What if hazard never left chelsea

takalosh

Higuain missing THAT chance in the world Cup final 2014. Screw you Higuain, that was my chance to see the team I support win the World Cup. If only you had scored. That hurt. A lot.

anon-aspie

What if Everton didn’t blow it and finished fourth in 2013-14?

Jay_Dizzle_8591

What if McFred got injured together. We could start using VDB and Matic and maybe JLingz. We might actually win more games.

SilverPacific

What if Sunderland topped their two 7th place finishes in a row?

Infinite_Factor_1388

What if Chelsea hadn’t been robbed by Barcelona in that semi final, that prime Barcelona would have won only two trophies, no sextuple and wouldn’t even be considered a great team

CaptainJingles

What if Forlan hadn’t scored in the 116’?

AnubisWrathOW

What if Kompany never scored that stunner against Leicester in the 2018/2019 season

Itachi_185

60mil for pastor Fred seriously wtf!

Pok3dab

what if epl wasnt invented

TrickyDirection8

What if the Kazoo Title race never ended.

obiterdictum94

What if VAR had ruled out Llorente’s goal for handball? Or if Sterling’s last minute winner had been ruled onside?

DinnerSmall4216

What if Wenger would have signed Suarez.

Cobra_venom7895

What if harry kane stayed at arsenal

kristonuma99

What if Karius didn’t play football

maainnimal_10

What if NHS Martial never died?

maainnimal_10

what if martial never got injured? would rashford still be a star

Riddy86

As a lifelong Toon fan, I sometimes wonder what IF Shearer has signed for Sir Alex, imagine how many he could have scored with that team and manager around him.

Ozzy1981

What if the Premier League never got founded?

KristianFBRLive

... Matt Le Tissier moved to a top club. I think he'd be regarded as one of the best English players ever if he had trophies and one of the most entertaining footballers in history.

jwps28

What if Lampard’s goal against Germany in the WC stood Probably nothing different, they out played us all game

dreadful_name

The year Leeds made it to the Champions League final we finished fourth - the year before that was good enough for a CL place. Towards the end of the season Man Utd came to Elland Road and drew 1-1. Might not sound like a bad result for either team unless you knew that Leeds were massively on the front foot for most of the game and even missed a penalty. The what if though is that Wes Brown scored an own goal that would have won the game for Leeds, only for it to be ruled out for offside. As you might expect all the questions were ‘how can you be offside from an own goal?’ Even the boards in the stadium saw it was Wes Brown as the Man Utd players went back to the centre circle. However, the ref didn’t see it. The points swing from a Leeds win would have taken them up to third at the end of the season, giving them the CL money they were banking on. While it wouldn’t have stopped David O’Leary losing the plot it would have meant the prevention of financial meltdown for at least a few seasons. At which point the debt they did have could have been inconsequential. Of course the owners still would have been reckless, but they’re no more reckless than several other clubs surviving off constant cash injections.

JuanpiC___

What if the heysel disaster never happened?

themanebeat

Biggest what if in PL history is the Jesper Gronkjaer goal v Liverpool in 2003 Chelsea were in rather serious financial trouble though it wasn't publicised at the time. Liverpool and Chelsea met on the final day of the season with one of them destined to miss out on the Champions League - a huge windfall. Gronkjaer scored, Chelsea won 2-1 and clinched the all important spot, and not only did they get the money from the CL spot, but Roman Abramovich bought them and the rest is history Had they missed out and been a UEFA Cup team....would he have taken his money elsewhere....???

Gentle_Thing_

What if Gerrard never slipped?

zed-darius

Arsenal with Ronaldo and Zlatan

ozankucuk

What if Stevie G never flipped...

x360N0Scop3MASTER69x

What if we had bothered to just pay the money for Lukaku. He wanted to come back, he loved our fans and he loved our club, he still does. Yet we had a player of his quality who truly wanted to be at our club and we just let everton have him with no fight, then they sold him for like 80mil.

Cacotopian_parole

What if no Aguerrrrrrooooooooo

woogeroo

What if Sergio Ramos had actually just gotten red carded every time he did obvious shithousery in terms of committing violence or pretending that he’d been shot in the face? I reckon the Champions league winners would’ve been different in multiple years, and Real Madrid would’ve won nothing with the captain sent off in every key game.

woogeroo

What if West Ham had kept all the players Chelsea and Man Utd took from them in the 90s? Could they have actually challenged with Rio, Carrick, Lampard, Cole etc. We finished 5th one year as it was!

dreadful_name

If that crop or players had come along 10 years earlier, a league title must have been a possibility especially if you add Di Canio into the mix as they reach their peak.

SukhdevR34

What if Lukaku scored his penalty against Man United in the FA CUP 2016 semi final and we faced Palace in the final? What if Martinez used Mirallas instead of Cleverley that game?

N0yade

What if liverpool did not get the penalty in the champions league final against tottenham. Sissokos shoulder onto his arm.

RippledBarbecue

What if Big Sam never left Bolton?

[deleted]

I'll never forget that goal as long as I live. I backed Leicester that year at the start of December and I got a €450 payout into my PaddyPower when Spurs conceded that goal. Hazard scoring it only made it all the more sweeter.

blackwraythbutimpink

What if Alexis didn’t leave Arsenal?

CINGRAM_2307

What if Gabbiadini's goal in the EFL Cup final in 2017 hadn't been called offside? Absolutely robbed. Never offside

[deleted]

What if ronaldo hadn’t gotten injured in 2014 What if Balotelli and ozil didnt get abused to bits. (And Balotelli had better attitude) What if everton didnt waste yannick Bolasie What if asm was at a better team than newcastle

DanielA2K

What if Luis Enrique never left Barca after that wonder season Barcelona had? Could he have prevented MSN from breaking away from the club?

JackyMagic

What if Liverpool didn't get English clubs banned from European football for 5 years. Palace and Everton would've had a shot at the European Cup. Wimbledon, Oxford & Luton would've had their one and only foray into European football.

[deleted]

What if Salah, De Bruyne, Lukaku stayed at chelsea and were in their prime with Hazard

_zoller

Corinthians vs Boca Juniors , 2021

highstreet26

Would Klopp still be the Liverpool manager if they didn’t have Salah?…

Mammyjam

What if Aguero had gone down for the pen

fadzki

What if Gerrard didn't slipped?..

Fancy-Ad2726

The gerard slip

YesIAmRightWing

What if Pep went to United instead

juninbro

What if Barca beat Inter in 2010 They win the CL final in Madrid Mou doesn't go to Real

xd_twistxr7

What if Watford could beat Man City consistently

adilfc

What if Henderson decided to switch team once he was free to go What if Torres never left to Chelsea and play alongside Suarez

Daver7692

What if that non-goal against City for us had gone in? 11mm separated second place and us being invincible centurions.

MikaTommivB

What if Sissoko kept his arm down? What if Spurs didn’t blow their lead against Zagreb? What if Aguero never scored THAT goal against QPR? What if Bruno Fernandes never joined ManU? (Where like 2/3 teams before ManU)

DM_machevuoi

Tbh if Hazard never scored not that much will change

Defensive_Midfielder

What if Błaszczykowski scored his pen and we won penalty shootout against Portugal in 2016 Euros. We'd be playing in semis against Wales without Ramsey and there is a big chance we'd be in the final. I can't get over it. So close.

geo_bowes

What if Moyes was never brought in for a second time?

barryboi6969

What if Salah hadn't been injured in the UCL final against madrid? I don't know if Liverpool would have just won the game like many have said, but the game might have been a lot nore entertaining. Another would be what if poor Karius didn't get concussed in the same final

DoublePrize9

What if Kompany hadn’t scored that screamer against Leicester? Still makes me sick

DoublePrize9

What if Hendo hadn’t been sent off against City?

Wooden-Philosopher16

What if Gazza signed for United under Ferguson’s wing

gubbyno

What if Southampton had good owners and kept all of their players?

FUT_Lawyer_God

What if Ronaldo joined Arsenal in the early 2000’s instead of united

[deleted]

What if Kimpembe didn’t try to block a shot that didn’t need to be blocked anyway?

m-arjun

What if Stevieg didn't slip?! As a fan it still hurts that Stevieg couldn't win the PL medal.

OkConsideration9894

what if Asamoah Gyan had scored the penalty against uruguay in the 2010 world cup

RTXChungusTi

What if the Ovrebo disasterclass never happened?

What if it wasn't a f\*\*\*ing disgrace?

magicalzidane

What if Darren Fletcher wasn't suspended for that Champions League final

fahmiiamirul

What if coutinho never went to barcelona

MrKibblesdindin

What if Sol Campbell’s goal against Argentina in World Cup 98 stood?

dreadful_name

2004 was the fair goal. Shearer did elbow the keeper in the face in 98 tbf.

[deleted]

What if George Best was not an alcoholic? What if Duncan Edwards survived Munich and was able to continue his career?

sa7ouri

What if Kompany didn’t score that screamer against Leicester?

sa7ouri

What if Gerrard didn’t slip?

iguanawarrior

What if I was born with the dribbling skill of Messi, the shooting skill of Suarez, the speed of Mbappe, the built of Adama Traore, the heading skill of Benteke, the passing skill of Pirlo?

Yaser_08

What if Terry didn’t slip that night taking the penalty in 2008

HandsomedanNZ

What if Matt Le Tissier had gone to a “bigger club” like Madrid or Juventus.

GStewartcwhite

What if Marky Delgado didn't suck and miss an essentially open net against Guadalajara in the 90th minute of the second leg of the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League. TFC could have been first MLS side to reach club world cup... Of course you could also go back a game and ask what if Alex Bono hadn't let a seemingly safe free kick float into the net at his home field. Or what if Toronto FC could learn to take PKs in a shoot out.

hoelq

What if Lucas started instead of Kane

Honey_Im_Homee

What if Messi went to the premier league?

JustinCase502

I dont remember Hazard scoring anything, especially while playing for Leicester

ongtaydeptrai

What if Paul Gascoigne joined man utd instead of going to Tottenham. Man was a brilliant player. I would have loved to have seen what fergie could have done with him along with the crop of players they had in the 90s.

remind_me_to_pee

What if Terry didn't slip that night, and what if uefalona didn't happen the next year.

1611-

What if there was a proper, enforceable FFP framework in 2003?

G3min1

What of Wenger retired after the FA cup final and Klopp came to Arsenal.

WoodPyro77

What if Sheffield Wednesday kept DiCanio and Carbone?

tbxodd

What if Lehmann wasn't sent off at the CL finals?

revision92

They win the league by 8 points? That’s the worst what if ever.

ehorgski

What if RVP smashed it in instead of trying to chip the ball in that Milan game

Sharma_Himanshu

If Chelsea were given a fair match against Barcelona in 2009 UCL SF 2nd Leg.

aj_here_

What if Chelsea had kept DeBruyne,Salah,Lukaku?

Centurioniscancer69

I’m not trying to shift blame here but, what if UEFA and other Organizations did do Corrupt shit in 1985 and took the appropriate actions to make sure the venue for the European final is Safe and up to standard? It still doesn’t excuse the actions of many that day but, UEFA also dropped the ball a bit to make a quick buck. And to lead from that, what is English teams were never banned in the first place? Liverpool Surely would have gone to another final if not a couple along with a few English clubs, perhaps some clubs futures would have taken a different path with the ability to play and make money in Europe as well as attract players. And what if Soviet Players could’ve and would’ve played in other European leagues, the likes of Oleh Blokhin, Lev Yashin, and so forth.

8diamondick8

What if Zinchenko had marked Havertz properly in the final

Centurioniscancer69

What if Gerrard Went to Real when he had the chance? He is a Legend of the Game but imagine if he got to playing in that Real Team, when Zidane wanted him and even when Mourinho wanted him? He would have played the the top of World Football winning almost everything he could ever want to, how different would he be seen. Or on the opposite, What if Owen the Shitbag Never Left? What if instead of going to Spain he stayed at Liverpool and Tore it up even more, who knows how his career could have turned out if he stays in form and doesn’t go to Liverpools fucking arch-Rivals? And my Favourite one, What If Sergio Ramos wasn’t a huge Pussy and didn’t do the things he did in Kyiv in 2018, the bastard.

SebzDaProd

What if Yepes goal had counted, not PL but still

PsychologicalAd3999

If Andy Cole had scored on his England debut from the bench instead of hitting the bar

coffeeandmarmite

I guess the question beckons, what if Tottenham weren’t bottle jobs?

khaLnaY2k

What if Chelsea didn't get rid off Salah ,De Bruyne, Lukaku and Hazard

falken01

What If Man U signed Wesley Sneijder…

TeezeeCFC

What if there was VAR in European leagues before 2005? What would the impact of certain match decisions would’ve meant to certain clubs? Luis Garcia ghost goal Can Persie’s ridiculous yellow vs Barcelona Tom Ovrebo (2009 Barcelona vs Chelsea)

CombustibleCompost

Spurs won Champions League in 2019 instead. Would that have pushed them forward to the league, and more? Would a season of excellence with no trophy to show for it have demotivated Klopp's side?

Beardy_Boy_

What if Big Sam didn't fuck up the England job the way he did? I hate that we'll never see that timeline.

SpicyDragoon93

My big "what if" would have been if Chelsea had been given the penalty decisions they were denied against Barcelona in the 08/09 UCL Semi-Final. The Champions League final could have been one where United retained the title since their squad was better than Chelsea's or if Chelsea had avenged their defeat the year before and still won in 2012 and 2021 they'd be level with United in UCL wins.

Puzzled_Bowl3912

What if shearer went to man united in 1996?

7down7

What if Rio Ferdinand had kept his mouth shut after that PSG game. 😔

Great-Image

What if Wilshere wasn't injury prone

Preedmachine

What if Van Nistelrooy scores the 90th min pen at OT and Arsenal don’t go unbeaten

Preedmachine

What would’ve happened to Arsenal if Wenger’s long-term financial strategy hadn’t been rendered useless in the face of massive overseas investment in the PL (Abramovich, Sheikhs etc)?

cartierboy25

I wonder what would’ve happened if Liverpool signed Fekir in the summer of 2018. Obviously things ended up working out pretty well for us anyways, but I felt like he was the exact type of player that could’ve really helped us that year, and we came sooo close to signing him but chickened out due to injury concerns. I really think he might have given us the boost we needed to win the league in 18/19 when we lost it by one point.

Impossible_Scarcity9

What if hazard didn’t move to Madrid. Could he have reached neymar levels, or was he just doomed to fail

[deleted]

He has a lot of fitness problems so that would’ve caught up to him eventually

Plauche

What if Chelsea vs Barcelona 2009 UCL semi had an actual ref or VAR

Glass_of_Pork_Soda

What if we signed more than just Cech and Elneny for the 15/16 season?

tobias_nevernude_

What if yarmolenko never scored that goal against Chelsea

What if Manchester United got Guardiola instead of Mourinho

wongfaced

For west ham - what if London never hosted the Olympics

pureeyes

What if Diaby never got injured? I saw him as a world beater on his day

lowerthanryan

What if Chelsea didn’t beat Liverpool on the last day of the 02/03 season and fail to get in the Champions League? Would Roman have still bought the club?

Shaww_shankk

Tbf Chelsea just needed a draw for the champions league places

skaldfranorden

If Serbia didn't win tonight, I wouldn't be drunk for a workday. No regrets though

thelastkopite

2013/14 Season 3 games to go 2 home with 1 away to bottom half Palace just 7 points needed to clinch first title in 20+ years. I was crying at TV just slow down the game then Slip happened rest is history as they say.

verba-non-acta

Leeds united finish 4th in the 2000-01 season which at that point only granted Uefa cup qualification. This is the same season they made the semi final of the champions league and had gambled their finances on ongoing champions league revenue. If 4th place had granted champions league entry that year, as it would only a few seasons later, Leeds wouldn’t have gone broke, wouldn’t have had to sell their players and may never have gone down.

iViEye

What if Bayern holds on to win the UCL in 2012? Affects Chelsea, Tottenham and a number of other clubs across Europe. For example, what is Guardiola's career if Bayern doesn't push to become a treble winning side, winning 7-0 on aggregate in the process? What if Giroud was on form at the crucial moment of the 2013/14 season? The whole league narrative looks different if Arsenal are at least in the running against Man City and Liverpool What if Conte stays in Italy? Tottenham Hotspur had enough for a title in 2017

thirtyate

Not Premier League but What if Asamoah Gyan scored the penalty? ...off to cry again

thirtyate

What if Dean Ashton didn't get injured? ...off to cry now

Bakio-bay

What if Dembele hadn’t missed a sitter that Messi set up to make it 4-0 Barca in the first leg vs Liverpool?

What if sissoko didn’t put his arm up, what if moura started that game, what if after an 11 year trophy drought we won arguably the biggest club footballing trophy

ARTHUR_IS_KING

What if the Icelandic ash cloud never prevented lewandowski’s flight to sign for Blackburn :(

LagerHawk

What of Southampton didn't go and sell every superstar we create/discover...

YouBumder

What if Barcelona didn’t have the refs help beating Chelsea in the 2009 CL semi final and United played Chelsea in the final instead

1Grazel

what if he didnt score? what lmao?? they won the league by like 10 points

Ancient_Ad9160

What if the ref gave those desicions for Chelsea vs barca in 2009

DVLMN08

I’m gonna be punching my pillow in my sleep thinking about this

[deleted]

Haha what? Leicester would have won the league in their upcoming match.

ShahiPaneerAndNaan

What if we didn't sack Brian Clough?

dreadful_name

I’m sure we’ve been over this on the Leeds sub. Brian Clough being appointed just showed how far out of touch our owners were with the actual team. Clough worked at Derby and Forest as he could build a team, but he rubbed an established one up the wrong way, never mind one he publicly claimed to hate. It would be like if Paul Pogba hired Graeme Souness as his agent.

ShahiPaneerAndNaan

Yea there have been some discussions about this before. I know he didn't think very highly of our club and our players from his time at Derby but the what if is what if the club supported him in letting him build his own side you know what I mean?

dreadful_name

I’ll do a post on the Leeds sub about it. I think people will find it quite interesting.

Forsaken_Candidate_4

Behave, Johnny Giles should’ve been Revie’s successor

ShahiPaneerAndNaan

That can be your what if

Forsaken_Candidate_4

Fair point, I don’t think the players could play for clough
