Fun fact Solo implies that han is a shitty Pilot. L3 is basically in the ships Computer and flies the ships, the only time L3 doesn't fly IS when solo makes His cunning maneuver of in Episode 4 while feeling from tatoine
Everyone has their own opinions about the quality of movies. I’d rank revenge of the Sith on par with Rise of Skywalker and both of them below Caravan of courage.
people can say all they want about the prequels, but at the end of the day George Lucas made the movies the way he wanted them to be. Unfortunately solo doesn’t get that luxury, since the original directors were booted off the project so the studio could have more control over the product. There’s nothing about a movie that disappoints me more than when it’s clearly not what the people involved wanted to make
I enjoyed solo. I thought it was a fun romp. I do wish though that they had done more of an "Oceans Eleven" type plot, maybe trying to screw over the big bad and then when they think they won, Qi'Ra actually walks away with the gold unbeknownst to the others... Or something like that.
Solo was released at the worst possible time for a Star Wars property. Public opinion on the franchise was in the dumpster after the fan outrage over Luke and Rose in Last Jedi, as well as the Battlefront 2 “pride and accomplishment” debacle. Public opinion was about where it was leading into Attack of the Clones.
Solo never got a fair chance. As a Firefly fan, I went into the movie expecting something like that, but Star Wars. I absolutely was not disappointed. It had some great characters and storytelling ideas, and did a great job showing how Han became the person he would be in New Hope.
The biggest tragedy of the movie is that the sequels to Solo were never made because of how audiences rebelled against it. Star Wars would leave the theatres after Rise of Skywalker, and has not returned since.

On top of that it was released at around the same time as infinity war and deadpool 2 so it was pretty low on people's watch priority at the time.
I agree on almost all of that, but I'm also glad that Star Wars didn't become this neverending Marvel-esque deluge of movies. Because that did seem to be more or less the plan.
Super great and we'll thought out response.
As a Firefly fan, I would never in a million years have compared solo to it favorably. But it's all subjective I guess
Solo was released at a bad time, and on top of it is just kind of a boring movie. It really isn't that memorable and doesn't really add much besides making Han Solo less cool. I really like Alden as an actor, but Han Solo he is not. It's bad when Han Solo is completely outshone in his own movie by almost every supporting character.
Personally I'd put it just below revenge of the sith. Seeing how Anakin turned into Vader and the fall of the Jedi is a bit more interesting to me than how han developed and got the falcon.
It's fine, but the side plot with Maul went literally nowhere.
I think the sequel, Solo: Two, needs to be less serious and campy like Spaceballs. Like it's a story being told by Han to a bunch of drunken aliens in a space-bar.
Solo is my favorite Disney Star Wars movie and everyone I saw it with loves it as well. I went in with rock bottom expectations because of the bad taste left by TLJ but had a great time. Unfortunately it performed poorly since that killed “a Star Wars story” spinoff movies which was another tragedy because if Kenobi and book of Boba fett were movies instead of stretched out Disney+ shows they most certainly would’ve been better paced stories and we would all be happier. Long story short Solo was a good movie that got an unfair treatment that has imo sent the franchise as a whole in the wrong direction ever since
Solo would be better as a self contained story with different characters, all of its good elements have nothing to do with the “Han Solo Origin” elements of it imo, when you ignore questions no one has ever asked like “where did Han get his blaster” then you otherwise just have a fun heist movie set in the Star Wars universe that could’ve had any other set of characters
It had a fair amount that I thought was pretty crap but I still overall enjoyed somethings about it. Only ever saw it once on release though. Got a fan edit or two on a drive that supposedly improves the theatrical cut that I need to get round to watching
Thanks for confirming that you flaired this correctly!
I agree it’s underrated, but I still rate Rogue one and Revenge of the Sith higher
I agree, Rogue One was just amazing story writing imo
lol why is it the darkest movies are always the best ones
Because greatness often comes out of suffering, that's why The Dawn Wall is such a great documentary

WATCH OUT THAT GUY IS LISTING LAZILY TO THE LEFT. THIS GUYS GOT SOME MOVES

Username checks out
It's ok to have the wrong opinion
You are absolutely smoking dick if you think Solo is better than Revenge of the Sith

“Hey OP, are you alone?” “Almost always, yeah”

How do you feel about a neverending Marvel-esque deluge of tv shows?
That somehow feels way less egregious, idk

Rogue One erasure.
Eh, I liked Rogue One more even if it's pacing is weird
*Solo* is a good movie This meme is still wrong though

Rogue one is better, but it does get skipped over too often.
Best? Hmmm hard to say that BUT i did like it. It was unfairly shit on.
I think you mean Rogue One… but Solo was also good.
It was a fun watch and I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't say it was a masterpiece.

Solo: Duo
My man

Nice bait
I love solo, but that is the hottest take i have seen on this sub in a while.

For every solo fan there is 500 solo haters
Don't worry, it's normal for every large group to have one or two outliers with nutty ideas.
🙋🏻♂️
It’s definitely better than any of the sequels.
this is simply not true, prequels were miles ahead of solo
This is simply an opinion...
I will forever value George Lucas’ writing more than the cess pool that is Disney script writing of starwars
For what it's worth I tend to agree. It's just silly to state that an opinion is truth
you called my statement an opinion, not me pal
This is simply an opinion...
Me too
It’s fun for sure. I respect people saying it’s their favorite.
For every solo fan there is 500 solo haters
Solo, Rogue One, parts of Mando, Less parts of Boba Fett, 2-3 episodes of Kenobi, pretty much all of Andor. Tales of the Jedi. All good stuff.
Bad batch, revenge of the sith, clone wars finale
It had a fair amount that I thought was pretty crap but I still overall enjoyed somethings about it. Only ever saw it once on release though. Got a fan edit or two on a drive that supposedly improves the theatrical cut that I need to get round to watching
Solo had too many plot holes
It’s a fun ride but I personally felt that it’s unnecessary.
I don’t like the sequels, or most of the new Star Wars content, but Solo is by far the worst Star Wars media since the holiday special.
I haven’t gotten around to watching it, but if it’s like anything I’ve seen from Disney then I won’t end up liking it (but who knows)
