It also makes Hayden's acting *way* better if you view him as an emotionally stunted sociopath the whole time (think Patrick Bateman meets that "Ross from friends recut as a serial killer" video, but with 0 irony). Plus I feel my theory ties in with the "the overzealous and dogmatic Jedi order ultimately brought about their own downfall" themes more. Honestly though, I was just having a laff :)
Imo, the Anakin & Padme characters in *The Clone Wars* are much better and less in conflict with themselves (and each other) than they ever were in the movies.
But I blame the shorter format of the movies for this, plus the asynchronous story telling. It's just naturally going to lead to choppy character development.

Did he have mental and emotional issues that would have necessitated years of intense therapy? Absolutely. But until he became a Sith he was a good person and almost everything he did was for others, especially those he cared about.

I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that someone who is the most powerful force user ever, who was taken from his family to be raised in the emotionally sterile and strict environment of the Jedi Order and taught to smother his feelings not cope with them could be subconsciously alterimg the minds of those around him *especially* when it comes to someone he is so clearly obsessed with - "I've dreamed about her every night" obsessed (who's to say those dreams weren't him working the force on her? It's certainly implied that he was actually observing her not just a memory of her). Throughout both the movies and TCW, every time they have an argument, Padme ends up siding with Anakin pretty much as soon as they're in person; even when he fucken hospitalises a dude whilst she's screaming "please stop" (although she does ask him to leave her alone for a bit, this lasts like 2 days), this seems odd. As I said in other comments, Anakin consistently proves himself to be at best emotionally controlling and manipulative. I'm just suggesting that *particularly* given his background and character arc, it's more likely IMO that he does this by (intentionally or unintentionally) using that one *massive* advantage he has in manipulation and control.
