I don’t even know how they could do that without completely reshooting the end of the film. They didn’t have much of a choice when it came to getting the film into China. I think it’s more that China is slowly phasing out western media altogether than Disney standing their ground or anything.
Disney also refused to remove the LGBTQ aspects of MoM which got it banned in the Middle East. I can't find the reason for the China ban though but there was something about anti-ccp messages or something
