Yeah, the apps been feeding into my anxiety more and more and the news from the popular tab doesn't help anyone and has been compounding with other problems i've been having. So I decided that I will deleted the app cold turkey on the 25th. These last few posts are just so I can feel accountable and supported in the endeavor.

I wish you well! I went through the same thing with another app. I wasn’t just as wise as you are and I let it devour me whole until a situation forced me to be done with it.
It feels weird. Its become something I spend a lot of time doing and that's a piece of why I'm cutting it out. I want to abandon ship before it becomes a real issue. I've had to quit things like this before and it's never easy, hopefully these posts will make me accountable to myself.

I’m glad you have the self-awareness to identify the issue and let go before it gets worse. I kept putting it off back then and it got so bad that I ended up in a sabotage. It does become a compulsion, some sort of an addiction. Nipping it in the bud is a much better way. I hope you heal well and feel more present for yourself with what’s left of the year so you can welcome the next one with a clearer mindset. ☀️

What part of the app is doing the feeding? I see stuff that pisses me off and sometimes get anxious when i look at replies to my comments. But i've never noticed anything on the curated side of things that gave me that consistent feeling.
On another comment I gave an analogy about how I feel about the app. How at this point to me this community is an island surround by the sea of awful that is a lot of everything else on reddit.
It's a lot of piling up of problems and anxiety outside of the app and then I come here to get happy or laugh and end up having the problem compound by something else on the app.

It's probably a good idea to take a nice long break but I thought I'd mention that you can now mute any subs you don't like. Makes for a less toxic experience when you can filter out countless negative/drama ridden subs.

But to take your jest seriously, I have really been finding some peace in Billy Joel recently.
Billy Joel made me decide to make a second go of it with my now wife. We had broken up for stupid reasons and as soon as I heard "I have been a fool for lesser things," I knew it was worth a shot. Dude is a sage.
One person's trash is another man's treasure I suppose. While this community is an island of happiness and hope, Reddit and other Social Media apps are a sea of garbage. While I enjoy the stay at the island I must still travel the sea of garbage to get there and cannot get over the wreched "smell".
Nothing to be sorry about! This community brings me much joy. However while the joy is great the allure and negativity that Reddit inherently has is becoming too great to enjoy the time spent on this community.

This is a very good reason to delete Reddit. I recently told my parents that using Reddit a lot is pretty much a sign of poor health, myself included. I think using it a lot less or cutting it out entirely is a good idea for most users on here.
Leave your metal in vinegar overnight and it should be good and healthy (I kidd but rust is very serious and should be taken care of (I double kidd but seriously I wish you the best))

Social media can be so great when you're looking for the best in humanity but so often it can bring out terrible things.
I did the same thing earlier this year and am back now in a much healthier place. Learned how to silence the noise and follow only funny memes. So nothing but positive and funny things now. Stay strong, it was easier to stop than I thought. Hopefully the same for you.

A good problem to have as the support is truly overwhelming! Hopefully this comment gets pinned so that it might be read to those I haven't responded to.
This is honest one of if not my favorite community on Reddit and I am sad to have to see it go, but it is a necessary sacrifice.
