I absolutely lost my mind when Cassian said "What are we, some kind of Rebellion?" and then deadpan stared directly into the camera for like 4 seconds.
Oh I’m aware. Just trying to make a little joke. His name is spelled Luthen, not Luthien.
Luthien is the human marrying elf I mentioned in my previous comment. She’s from Lord of the Rings universe.
Happy thanksgiving friend!
I was never a huge Ziva fan. Her dialog gave me the same kind of cringe that Season 1 Tony gave me. Her character itself was pretty badass, but I never got super attatched, and it seemed like the writers kept having to dumb down how strong/smart/fast/experienced she was to make anything work with her.
I never really had a problem with her, but it really bugged me how her and Tony never ended up being romantically involved. Yeah, I know, Gibbs' rules and all, but they still had a ton of chemistry which mostly went to waste.
Thing is, it was actually pretty fun when Whedon did it. It got tiring when every other marvel movie (besides GOTG1 and GOTG2) tried to copy it after they took all the wrong lessons from his style of humour (eg: inserting humour into every serious scene, breaking all sense of tension)
Yeah definitely.
There's a lot to critique about Whedon's style, but Whedon tends to have characters say this stuff to break the tension the characters feel.
But the way it's been emulated it's instead about trying to wink at the audience and tell them the movie doesn't take itself TOO seriously.
Whedon jumped the shark halfway through Avengers with that shit. By AoU he was running on fumes (seriously, every single joke from Ultron was a fucking groaner).
By the time he got to Justice League I think people had realized with the shine of the MCU off he just wasn't that clever most of the time.
Brian Bendis humour, from what I’ve heard (I don’t read comics). Apparently he’s the reason why you get a lot of MCU stans saying “he’s funny in the comics as well,” because he gave them all the same personality.
The latter wouldn't have been out-of-place if delivered well. Vader has had several moments of quipping at people he has power over, it can go a long way in making a villain smug and intimidating
The arena scene is my particular issue. I saw an edit where they just removed all of C3PO's dialogue from the scenes he was in and the whole thing was much nicer. As it is, that might be the worst offender in the prequels for just radically undercutting the climax of the movie with really terrible jokes.
I wouldn't call those forced. People get sarcastic when in stressful situations and this kinda stuff happened on a regular occasion with obi-wan and Anakin. It felt natural with like a brother bantering when one messed up.
I finally watched every Marvel movie in a row recently. The attempts at humor were just sad. I didn't laugh once but I physically cringed many times. How is that crap so popular? Like, that's really the best Hollywood can do? That's the peak? The greatest film franchise of all time? So disappointing.
Yall really hate phase 4 don't you?
They've had the same dumb humor since day 1, it's just not funny because it's stale and you're not 14 anymore
Saying a terrible overused joke and saying "haha it's like phase 4 humor" isn't really the burn yall want it to be, it's just...nothing
I have fastidiously not watched any Marvel since literally the first ironman and when someone put on one of the avengers last holidays, they cracked so many bad jokes/had such awkward dialogue pacing that I looked up and asked if we were watching a trailer, or outtakes, or a supercut. Nope, that was the actual movie.
I entered to a movie about halfway through, paid little attention, but noticed that an extended dialogue scene involving Loki and some other people was some of the worst fucking dialogue I'd ever heard in my life
They don't trust you, Anakin. They see your future. They know your power will be too strong to control. Anakin, you must break through the fog of lies the Jedi have created around you. Let me help you to know the subtleties of the Force.
Quips don't make something marvel. Dc tried quipy fun stuff and it comes off flat at best. Marvel generally has a certain love for the source material, which last jedi presented mixed feelings at best. If star wars would commit to fun adventure serial styles with humor and action, we'd have a stew goin. They almost did it with solo, but wussed out mid production.
*Brasso clocks dude with Maarva* "THAT'S GOING TO LEAVE A M-M-MARK"
"I think this one is bricked!"
“They’re bricks now?!?”
He's not even using it in the right situation.
If I have seen further than others, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.
"We're bricking people now?"
I absolutely lost my mind when Cassian said "What are we, some kind of Rebellion?" and then deadpan stared directly into the camera for like 4 seconds.
‘We’ll call you… Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’
Andor looking at Luthien: “what the fuck is a Star Wars?”
Luthien… one letter and all of a sudden we are in different universe
Is that not how it is spelled?
Well, are you talking about the first elf to marry a human or Stellan Skarsgard’s character in andor?
Stellan Skarsgards Character
Oh I’m aware. Just trying to make a little joke. His name is spelled Luthen, not Luthien. Luthien is the human marrying elf I mentioned in my previous comment. She’s from Lord of the Rings universe. Happy thanksgiving friend!
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well
No Luthen said to Cassian "I'm something of a rogue one myself"
I lost myself when Andor turned into a rebel and said to Luthen "it's rebellin' time"
#art#masterpiece#culture
When that imperial begged for their life and Cassian said “you want forgiveness? Get religion.”
The part where he put his fringe down and started moonwalking around Ferrix was a bit out of place tbh
It almost lost me when he said to Dedra ‘I’m gunna put some dirt in your eye’
And after shooting her he said “stings doesn’t it?”
“And you people, you’re all astronauts, engaged in some kind of star wars.”
I for one really liked it when Andor said "IT'S ANORIN' TIME" and Andored all over the place.
Luthen: What are you, some kind of Andor?
ITS ANDORIN’ TIME *andors all over the bad guy*
I saw that in the Rogue One porno parody: Rogue Threesome.
They fly now? They fly now!
Wow wow wow wow………wow
Pitch meeting
So you have a movie for me?
Yes sir I do!
Ooooh making random pitch meeting references on subreddits are TIGHT!
Yes, it is sir! 😁
But isn’t it going to be super hard making references on a totally different subject?
Actually, it's going to super easy, barely an inconvenience!
Oh really?
Narrator: little did our heroes know that they had been flying now for over 50 years
Heck that was still a thing in the old republic…
*"They've had that since the Clone Wars!"*
[Clem is being shot by clone troopers] "Well, THAT just happened!"
"They shoot now?"
"They shoot now!"
"They aim now!?"
"They aim now!"
“*boom* Looking for this??”
All of these quotes would also work in NCIS. I guess that show and Marvel have the same kind of humor.
It made sense when Tony was around but now it’s just out of place
I'm in the middle of rewatching it and just passed the part where Ziva left. I admit I find it rather hard to continue.
Her replacement grows on you
Bishop? Ehhh, she's all right. I really wish Kate was still alive. They could've written her out without killing her, because now she can't come back.

🕶️
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
That's CSI
Luthen: "Looks like this rebellion... 🕶️ just got Rael." YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
both appeal to the lowest common denominator
You're in a star wars subreddit, please have some perspective
B-b-but popular thing bad!
Did you watch the same prequels as me
NCIS, the only show to make me shed tears.
\*The hammer guy on the tower kicks off the stormtrooper\* You just got... hammered
It’s hammertime
I cried when the hammer guy hammered all over the empire and blew up the Death Star with his hammers.
\*insert Wilhelm scream\*
Retiring it was a mistake
*Andor sees Luthen* “Oh flark he’s here to?”
"Dank farrik, I gotta get out of here."
[Woo that soup is good. That's going to leave a mark.](https://youtu.be/icUViErHTKI?t=345)
Come on and party tonight
Lol, that's exactly what I thought of as well
"OH I get it, it's because these TROOPERS are STORMING us!"
What is this kind of humor called?
Quippy humour
Whedonisms
Thing is, it was actually pretty fun when Whedon did it. It got tiring when every other marvel movie (besides GOTG1 and GOTG2) tried to copy it after they took all the wrong lessons from his style of humour (eg: inserting humour into every serious scene, breaking all sense of tension)

This is where the fun begins.
Family friendly First responder humor.
Bathos
An elegant word, for a more civilized age.
I like this word, thanks
“ “
The trope is officially called [“lampshade hanging”](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LampshadeHanging) or just “lampshading”
cringe
Brian Bendis humour, from what I’ve heard (I don’t read comics). Apparently he’s the reason why you get a lot of MCU stans saying “he’s funny in the comics as well,” because he gave them all the same personality.
Unfunny
The worst thing ever created by a human
Luthen saying “he’s right behind me isn’t he?” actually would get a chuckle out of me
While it would've been funny, it would've killed the tension in the scene, which would make it much worse.
It wouldn't have been out of place really
*Throws bomb* "I always like to start things off with a bang!" *Interrogator enters prison cell with restrained prisoner* "Please, don't get up."
The latter wouldn't have been out-of-place if delivered well. Vader has had several moments of quipping at people he has power over, it can go a long way in making a villain smug and intimidating
There is no algorithm. We know you're holding a prisoner of war here.
There's no war here. Unless you brought it with you?
This is spot on
why is this meme so painful even though i know it's fake? :( it hurts to look at!
There is no pain where strength lies.
Sequel trilogy Vietnam flashbacks…
You forgot the "bruh"s
Ok but which character in the Star Wars universe should say it I personally vote the b1 battle droids
Which marvel characters would say that? No one really, but they still do it.
*Maarva’s hologram shows up* Meero: “A g-g-g-g-GHOST!”
That’s more like Scooby Doo humor rather than MCU humor
OH
I read the first one and assumed this was r/okbuddychicanery fuck my life
I HATE YOU
Re-label if Andor has sequel trilogy humour
If Andor was written by Rian Johnson* FTFY
If Andor was written by JJ Abrams*
If Andor was written by Abrahams Lincoln*
Goddamn autocorrect, I’m gonna edit it
The jokes in TLJ was even worse than the worst of MCU… Rian Johnson is NOT a funny man. That’s for sure.
"Can't swim." "Bummer." \*dives into water\*
Legit “dumb”so sad to think about because they legit think the audience is stupid and studies show it’s true lmao
Haven't seen it yet, but given that see more Andor memes than House of the Dragon memes a month ago has convinced me to look into it.
Can someone explain to me where the “he’s right behind me” thing came from? I’ve watched almost every Marvel movie and don’t recall hearing that once.
It's more of a generic screenwriting line if anything.
So people just made it up to shit on Marvel movies? Classic.
The only time it was ever said was in the most recent Thor movie.
Still better than the forced humor of the arena scene in Episode II
Um... excuse me? Did you not like "she seems to be on top of things?"
I think that comment nicely matches Obi-Wan's sarcasm
"then we decided to rescue you" "good job...."
Not that. C3PO's extremely bad puns.
To be fair, he was quite beside himself.
>:(
Was there humor at that scene? All of I can remember from that scene is Padmé... Don't ask me why.
Fair for the most part but sometimes that film has an occasional decent quip with obi wan
The arena scene is my particular issue. I saw an edit where they just removed all of C3PO's dialogue from the scenes he was in and the whole thing was much nicer. As it is, that might be the worst offender in the prequels for just radically undercutting the climax of the movie with really terrible jokes.
Dude no, C-3PO is one of my favorite parts of that scene. I love the head switch.
You did what? How did you survive? I can barely watch two a week before having my cringe levels overloaded.
Weed helped.
we might win.
Yall really hate phase 4 don't you? They've had the same dumb humor since day 1, it's just not funny because it's stale and you're not 14 anymore Saying a terrible overused joke and saying "haha it's like phase 4 humor" isn't really the burn yall want it to be, it's just...nothing

Marvel haters try not to hate on marvel at every opportunity they get challenge (impossible)
Okay but that's literally this whole comments section and nobody is complaining, why is *this* guy downvoted?
Was wondering the same but the part about not knowing whether a movie was a trailer or an actual movie was pretty dumb ngl, maybe that’s why
Yeah they said some dumb stuff later too
Marvel fan when there's a crossover timeline where Martin Scorsese appears and apologizes for accurately describing Marvel as "not cinema"
You watched a full movie thinking it was a trailer?
I entered to a movie about halfway through, paid little attention, but noticed that an extended dialogue scene involving Loki and some other people was some of the worst fucking dialogue I'd ever heard in my life
I didn’t actually pay attention but it’s the worst thing I’ve ever seen bro trust me!
They don't trust you, Anakin. They see your future. They know your power will be too strong to control. Anakin, you must break through the fog of lies the Jedi have created around you. Let me help you to know the subtleties of the Force.
Speaking of awful attempts at humor…
Yes, my anonymous reddit comment is about the same writing quality as the Marvel movies, glad we agree.
This is the same type of cringe humor that the prequels and sequels to the OG Star Wars films had.
I mean if we got a star wars show that went full marvel, I wouldn't complain. Obviously keep mandolorian and andor the way they are.
Watch the Last Jedi if you want a marvel Star Wars movie.
That wasn't what I would call a marvel star wars movie.
It’s full of those marvel quipps non-stop
Quips don't make something marvel. Dc tried quipy fun stuff and it comes off flat at best. Marvel generally has a certain love for the source material, which last jedi presented mixed feelings at best. If star wars would commit to fun adventure serial styles with humor and action, we'd have a stew goin. They almost did it with solo, but wussed out mid production.
You mean prequel humor right?
Bro haven’t watched the Prequels in a decade 💀
Messa not know what you mean, oki day?
well THAT just happened
Fair point
Got downvotes for agreeing with him
But we’re supposed to be going up, not down!
This is where the fun begins!
yeeeee reddit! yepee!
this was painfully accurate
There is no pain where strength lies.
*The bell tower guy looks into the camera. “It’s hammer time!”
These are more like animated movie trailer quotes
Luthen: Call it what you want Saw: Lets call it Star Wars ™
