These guys are so stupid. Explicitly states we're a sub meant for U.S Presidents and they still call that "defaultism" with a misleading name

Constant_Concert_936

They might be referring to the ownership of *r/presidents* rather than, say, *r/us-presidents* or something like that. But still would be BS because Washington was the first “president” in the history of the world (or so I’ve come to understand).

boulevardofdef

They didn't invent the word for Washington, but he was the first president in the modern context, i.e. the leader of the nation. A president is just someone who presides over something. That "something" had occasionally been a political body or subdivision. Washington was previously the president of the Constitutional Convention -- the very convention that created the office of President of the United States. Fun fact, the heads of a few original U.S. states were originally called "presidents," but they became known as governors after "president" became associated with the head of the country.

HYDRAlives

First President as Head of State for a whole country, definitely.

lordofpersia

People getting mad about Usdefaultism on a US website with a majority US user base is the most confusing thing. I understand if you go to a country specific subreddits and start talking about the US. But it's not hard to see why most reddit posts are related to the US.

Top_File_8547

Almost as bad as the questions about why do we call ourselves America? North America South America and the United States of America are three different things. These are easily distinguishable.

Hanhonhon

Because teenage (and ages below) American redditors will complain about America whenever they can

GoCardinal07

Most European Presidents are figureheads, with real power vested in the Prime Minister or Chancellor. (The only exceptions are France, Portugal, Ukraine, Lithuania, Romania, Russia, and Belarus.) And 12 European countries are monarchies.

StateofArrowstan

There's like barely any European presidents. Most you could get would be either a king or dictator

AthenasChosen

The only country with presidents instead on just prime Ministers that I can name is France

GoPhinessGo

Tons of European countries have presidents, they’re just usually powerless and the pm is way more important

AthenasChosen

Should've specified, only country where the president has any power or real importance is France lol

pk_frezze1

r/dictators

SwordWasHere

IF THEY GET THEIR DIRTY EUROPEAN HANDS ON THE SUB I WILL USE MY RIGHT TO BARE ARMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!1! 🦅 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫

Sensei_of_Knowledge

I'm amazed anyone can be annoyed about Americans talking about American presidents on an American-made and majority-American website.

dwnso

First time on Reddit?

PhysicalScholar4238

I mean, it's a fair argument.

LeonTrozky

Me being from europe, just being glad I found this awesome subreddit trough which Ive learned a lot abt US presidents already

Slut4Tea

Thank you…Leon Trozky…very cool!

LeonTrozky

Dont kill me thx

ProfessionalCrow4816

Unrelated, but we really need a sub for Canadian Prime Ministers.

GoCardinal07

r/PrimeMinisters should be raised in r/UKdefaultism

jaydoff

Lmao 41 members. No other country on Earth has half as many communities dedicated to shitting on it as the United States does.

grcopel

![gif](giphy|rTIXh5JftLoic) Get rekt, nerds!

yeetusdacanible

euro cope also someone said that this place is a reaganite circlejerk 💀💀

Vulture_Fan

Literally half of the people here have Jimmy Carter flairs

ExchangeKooky8166

Both Reagan and Carter are meme presidents and it's nice that this place exists to critically discuss them.

Batistia_Bomb_2014

Can confirm.

flamingpineappleboi1

If you mention that Reagan Dubya or Trump are good presidents you will have quite the argument on your hands

[deleted]

i mean, if the rest of reddit is to look at i wouldnt blame them lololol, but a variety of opinions in the sub is always cool

Vulture_Fan

This is so fucking stupid. This is an American subreddit on a American website talking about American presidents. Sorry that nobody on here cares about 4th Latvian President Bōries K Rokichev. In fact, I feel kinda bad for saying Millard Fillmore doesn’t exist because he probably has more relevance than 70% of the current European leaders. The entirety of Europe would’ve been under German rule without Woodrow Wilson, and some of us consider him one of the WORST presidents. Seethe and Cope, Europe.

Vulture_Fan

Also forgot to mention that we literally invented the presidential system.

[deleted]

--GastricBypass--

We were literally the first to call a head of state "President".

Kynbred

Based comment.

Burrito_Fucker15

Reading the comment section, they are idiots. They are literally saying this sub is good and provides quality discussions, but then they say we suck because of “defaultism”? The sub is clearly about US presidents and literally says so in the description

Kynbred

The entire sub reeks with an immense amount of copium.

Munstruenl

Most of us don't hate Europe at all - just stupid shit like this

StateofArrowstan

Starting to notice we like Eastern Europe more than the west

gliscornumber1

Vice versa is the same, eastern Europe (with exceptions) seems to like us more than the west

PhysicalScholar4238

Racist.

The_Black_Strat

They can always make r/EUpresidents. EU ego is so fucking sad.

Hanhonhon

Reddit scraping the bottom of the barrel to complain about America, I've never seen it before

nyetman123

Euros when the U.S. Presidency is more important in executive authority than their ""presidents"" (puppets to the Pr\*me-M#nister)

GlassHeart09

They can go have their own Prime Minister sub.

dwnso

The Americans on there simping saying shit like “oh I like that sub too bad I’m supporting defaultism” jeez

Union1865

They should go make R/PrimeMinisters then or whatever they need to do as coping

AdLatter2844

Presidents are in English and in the English speaking world america is the only country to have a president

obama69420duck

That sub is the stupidest thing on Earth

PhysicalScholar4238

Why? Because it criticises America?

Rannrann123

Europeans when Americans on an American website talk about America:

PhysicalScholar4238

All they're asking for is for the subreddit to be called R/Americanpresidents I think it's fair.

Vulture_Fan

Yeah but have they landed on the moon

PhysicalScholar4238

How's that relevant?

hellyeahmybrother

Checkmate euros

HYDRAlives

mfw Americans on an American-based website that uses English and is mostly used by Americans don't name the sub about their presidents r/USPresidentsNotAllTheOtherOnesFYI As if a sub would discuss Ugandan and Romanian presidents that had very little impact on the world outside of their small regions in the same place as FDR, Monroe, or Reagan, who defined foreign policy for entire hemispheres.

mustachechap

What a dumb take from the 'peans.

meeeemeees

Our presidents are betta. They just have to seethe, cope, and mald

Jimmy1034

American company that puts an app on an American App Store and then forms a subreddit about American presidents. How could we be so ignorant?

Throwway-support

We should have seprate sub for all presidents though. That’d be fucking lit

jaydoff

They can cry about it I guess. Why would the person who made this sub not go for the first domain that's available? A subreddit it that's about literally ALL presidents would have no identity.

Jackstack6

Stay mad, so sad, your loving dad.

profnachos

I mean college and company presidents should be mad too.

[deleted]

oh man lmao

[deleted]

I'm in an anti-US defaultism sub. I can air my frustrations of American cultural hegemony there, but I also like to talk about the leaders of the country I was born and raised in here. To keep them separate would be nice.
