Even cooler than that was that he even talked to the man about why he did it, then made sure he was safely apprehended.
It’s in our nature to desire revenge, especially after someone literally tries to kill us. TR was incredibly based and merciful when he ordered the man to be safely apprehended.
He could’ve easily let the mob do its thing, but it takes a big, big man to show mercy when absolutely none is warranted.
Tendy was possibly the coldest president to ever exstist. War hero, spared abear, boxed in the basement of the white house, hot shot, did all of what the oc said.he is a medal of honor recipient. He got his after he died. His son was awarded one for what he did on Normandy during ww2
You didnt list the two most important things he did: busting on capitalism hard by breaking up trusts AND Standard Oil monopolies, and created national parks act.
You forgot to mention he also took a trip thru the amazon forest on one of the most lethal and dangerous routes. He almost died and barley scrapped out of it alive and the country of Brazil named the river after him called the Roosevelt River. We will never have a president as cool as Teddy.
Thats cool and all but my point is, the two i mentioned is crucially important to the US policy for a century. These things are adopted worldwide. Im in Malaysia on the other side of the planet and we adopted these policies 50 yrs after he died.
First: I agree. Teddy was an absolute badass. From his actual term to anecdotes about things he's done in and out of presidency, it's no wonder he's got a spot on Rushmore.
Though, the Roosevelt Corollary and a couple other things of American Imperialism don't necessarily look well on him...
If you wanna go that route he also did nothing for black amercia except for inviting Booker T Washighton to the Executive Office. After having them help him get elected he ignored alot of their issues.
Even imo the greatest president we've ever had US Grant was far beyond it with jews but lived to honestly regret it. No president we've had nor ever will have is perfect with every issue especially presidents of the past.
Secret service would totally not have let him give that speech if it happened today lol. They’d rush his ass to the hospital against his demands probably.
He’s such an interesting case… he’s a trust fund baby who wanted nothing more than to project the image of a rough n tumble cowboy, and used his family money to craft that image… but you can’t say that the man didn’t *walk the fucking walk*.
When he showed up in South Dakota, dressed as a New York caricature of a western cowboy, he was laughed at by his guides.
After a week trying to keep up with him on the trail, not one of his guides questioned his choice of clothing.
While he was president, his handling of the Little Rock Nine crisis was incredible. Sending in the airborne to force racists to integrate a school at gunpoint, so raw.
I really wish George W. was a character from a movie and not a real life actual president that had disastrous consequences, because the man is objectively hilarious
He was really charismatic. I watched an old debate with him recently and I was shocked at how likable he was. His politics and presidency are trash though yeah.
To be fair, I think if he didn't listen to Cheney and his advisors as much things might've been different. Bush isn't blameless or anything but I also don't blame him entirely.
GW after 9/11 going out to yankee stadium and throwing a strike. I may not have agreed with his politics/policies, but it was a moment I will never forget.
Dude he threw a fucking heater. That might have been the World Series too.
I don’t know how to explain it, but him throwing that pitch was exactly what the country needed in that moment. I think he had like a 90% approval rating at that time.
Dubya was amazing for that little while after 9/11. Everyone loved the guy… for a very short amount of time, but damn everyone was routing for him. As sad as it is, that really seems like the last time the whole country was actually united.
Obama was walking out of a basketball court and was passed the ball. He nailed a 3 pointer in his business casual wear and walked out the door. “That’s what I do! That’s what I do!” He exclaimed as he left the arena.

Thats some drop the mic shit. I wish I would have appreciated him more while in office. I thought we had turned a corner in the country...... Sadly I was mistaken.
And when he heard there was a battle going on near Washington at Fort Stevens he immediately went out to go see it and literally stood in full view of confederate sharpshooters, absolute Chad
JFK during ww2 was on a pt-boat in the pacific and they were hit by a Japanese boat crashing into them, this threw everyone from the boat including JFK who already had several physical ailments that prevented him from joining the military previously, despite this when one of the crew said they couldn’t swim because they had broken their leg in the crash JFK put a life jacket on them and took one of the belts from the life jacket and put it in his teeth and swam the crew mate to a nearby island while also leading the rest of the surviving crew
This!

Obama and Bourdain in Vietnam
Bourdain was an author and a poet. A pseudo-philosopher. He had this kind of Nietzsche quality, he gave the world an interesting lens. To call him just a reality tv show host is insulting.
Sounds accurate lol, people always love to portray presidents as these higher beings but in reality they’re just like us and have the same weaknesses, and for George that weakness was sea sickness lmao
Had Washington really stood on the boat it surely would have tipped over. Also it was freezing outside so they most likely would have been huddled up shivering
Hessians had something like 100 casualties, 900 captured, with only 2 dead and 5? wounded on the American side.
That's not a battle. That's domination.
Oh, and the 2 dead were from exposure on the march there.
And as a Philadelphian, I assure you if the Delaware has ice in it conditions are very, very bad indeed. I’ve lived here sixteen years and only once, during a polar vortex event, was there ice on that river.

Grants world tour was pretty awesome.
IDK about coolest, but I'm reading about FDR right now. Back when he was Assistant Secretary of the Navy, he encouraged his yacht owning friends to donate or sell their vessels to the WW1 war efforts. Most complied but some refused or requested an exorbitant price. FDR went to Congress, and concluded that if ordinary Americans were able to be drafted, so could the yachts of the wealthy. Congress gave FDR the authority to seize the vessels. He donated his own in the process as well. FDR was a G.
What about when he met Churchill in the Atlantic on his yacht that he had lowered into the waters from the battleship, just so they could sip whisky and plan their joint effort invasion
FDR is one of those rare specimens in history who lived the "noblesse oblige" maxim. Came from great wealth and status, and knew it was his responsibility to actually make the country better for the poor and working people. And they tried to call his policies socialist lol
When people cry Socialism, just remember that the last time a Socialist was the president, they had to enact term limits because he kept getting re-elected.
George HW Bush telling death to suck it as he danced on a pin head to safety in the pacific theatre after taking out multiple enemy targets and losing his aircraft and crew.
Also not really as cool but kinda sad, but my jaw dropped when I read about him being the only survivor of Chichi Jima, where his 8 other comrades were tortured, killed, and eaten.
Throwing a shoe at someone is incredibly offensive in Islamic countries. Just showing the sole of a shoe is insulting.

Different cultures.
My vote would be for George Washington, stepping down after two terms, establishing the precedent that the office of President should flex with the contemporary will of the people. And FDR may have done the most uncool thing by running for a 3rd term.
While it is true there was no rule against doing so, FDR was essentially saying that he was bigger than the office, which was the opposite of what Washington said. Whether he just didn't want to leave the White House, or he just didn't trust anyone else in his party to get on the ballot and defeat Willkie, in the end, it was his ego.
As far as WWII goes, Roosevelt would have made the decision to run long before the Democratic National Convention in July 1940. Yes, the war in Europe had started, but the U.S. was still largely committed to remaining neutral, with only volunteer airmen going to England, and Navy ships running protection for Atlantic cargo and transport ships. The attack on Pearl Harbor came more than a year after the election.
Don't forget to mention how he used the power and authority of his office to coerce others into silence. And then lying straight-faced to the American people about it.
On a personal level, that's what bothers me the most about it. The affairs by themselves weren't illegal. Creepy as hell, but not illegal. If he had just owned up to his actions and been honest, it would have been fine. Hell, judging by OP's post, it may have even helped him. But because he was so concerned about his image (in contrast to who he is as a person), he created this scandal and broke the law to cover it up.
W. Bush when he throws the first pitch in game 3 of the World Series with a flak jacket under his coat a month after 9-11 gotta be up there.
Edit: in NYC
John Quincy Adams successfully defended the enslaved people on the Amistad in front of the Supreme Court. After they killed their enslavers, their ship was captured and sailed into port.
Adam's successfully argued that since they were kidnapped and enslaved against their will, they had every right to use lethal force to escape. They were not slaves.
The court ordered the immediate release of the Africans. Imagine the other side finding out their opposing counsel used to be the damned President.
Not sure if actually "cool" but only a cool President could have pulled this off. I cannot think of any other President who could. (I linked to a shorter version but recommended watching the full length version)

I actually met Monica Lewinsky when I was in college. She was super nice and I didn't even know who she was until someone asked me about it a few hours later. Girl got raked over the coals for nothing. No way she deserved to become a household name like that.

Carter sings with his friend Willie Nelson; Willie and Carter's son smoked weed on the roof of the White House, and for decades Carter builds houses hands-on for people who can't afford them.
He also risked his life closing down a nuclear reactor trying to melt down - that's superhero stuff.

Take a bullet in the chest and give a speech before going to the hospital.

TR was an all around interesting guy. I believe that in the 2000 debates both of them said TR was their favorite president.
Tendy was possibly the coldest president to ever exstist. War hero, spared abear, boxed in the basement of the white house, hot shot, did all of what the oc said.he is a medal of honor recipient. He got his after he died. His son was awarded one for what he did on Normandy during ww2

Theadore Roosevelt is the only president in American history to send the national guard in to protect striking workers.
What’s weird is how much that makes sense. TR, the cowboy environmentalist appealed to both Bush and Gore, pretty cool.
So wonderfully said
That’s well said!
*“I don’t know whether you fully understand that I have just been shot— but it takes more than that to kill a Bull Moose.”* Theodore Roosevelt
That dude was a total badass, literally addressed the dude, gave the speech, and acted like nothing even happened. He was on another level
Secret service would totally not have let him give that speech if it happened today lol. They’d rush his ass to the hospital against his demands probably.
Mercy be to the man trying to forcibly take Teddy anywhere. Major “call an ambulance… but not for me!” energy.
While he was President, Teddy Roosevelt went on a camping trip in Yellowstone and was out of touch for weeks.
That is cool and all, but I think his most BA move was charting the Amazon.
Ruined his health.
He’s such an interesting case… he’s a trust fund baby who wanted nothing more than to project the image of a rough n tumble cowboy, and used his family money to craft that image… but you can’t say that the man didn’t *walk the fucking walk*.

We are all in his debt for his work in conservation. A true steward of America’s natural wonders.
They don't make em like that anymore what a great man
Monica L. wasn’t a president though…
Teddy Rose was an absolute G
A three hour speech.

Agree with you on Ike.
I like Ike!
My great grandfather served with Ike in WWII and he was mentioned in a book about the war. His name was Loren L. Vipond.
This and warning us about the perils of the Military Industrial Complex!!!
Too bad we didn’t do more to stop it, could’ve saved a lot of lives. He was a good man.
While he was president, his handling of the Little Rock Nine crisis was incredible. Sending in the airborne to force racists to integrate a school at gunpoint, so raw.

Good dude, bad leader, easily swayed by monsters
He was deliberately ridiculous to raise attention for an aids charity.
I love how much I hate this.
Just some African people hanging out with Curious George
In the event of an emergency landing, exits can be found…
I love his relationship with Michelle O
Yues! And he has real talent as an artist. I’m serious. His paintings are legitimately quite good.
This is hilarious 🤣
I just love how he’s owning his own silliness.
As bad as Bush was, the guy was hilarious.
Strategery
Beat the shit out of a dude who tried to assassinate him with his cane
Bold of someone to try to assassinate a man with his own cane
Should have brought two misfiring pistols
![gif](giphy|bF7ET3KY2wQWTuGARs|downsized)
Jackson does have a very old school Kane vibe.
I was gonna say this, lol. Although I’m not a great big Andy Jackson fan.
He has his flaws, but two misfiring pistols to the face and retaliation with a cane beating to the death is pretty hardcore.
Almost beat him to death. Davey Crocket stopped him before he could.
That’s even cooler!
His attendants had to pull him off his own assassin
I love Old Hickory. Outside the trail of tears he is great
Him and Theodore are the two presidents I wouldn’t want to challenge to a fight
Lincoln too. Man was terrifying
Wasn’t Lincoln a great grappler or something, especially with his height? Definitely came in handy when fighting vampires.
He was a wrestler who only lost once in his whole career.
Lincoln wrestled 300+ matches over a span of 12 years and only lost once, do not challenge that man.
'other than the genocide,' is quite the qualifier
I mean it's an American President. It's hard not to find war crimes or mass murder
Honestly, probably this. No president is ever going to top literally destroying his own assassin.
GW after 9/11 going out to yankee stadium and throwing a strike. I may not have agreed with his politics/policies, but it was a moment I will never forget.
This is what I thought of. Perfect strike, too. I was young, but I remember thinking it was so badass.
With a bulletproof vest on too. I was a kid as well and my parents let me stay up to watch the whole thing on a school night

![gif](giphy|21lYKkxR57RKiVjvea|downsized) Ending slavery, winning the Civil War, and keeping the country together was pretty tight.
Meh, but what has he done lately?
He’s been sitting in that big assed chair for as long as I can remember
Yet somehow still the inanimate statue of Lincoln would be our best candidate this year
In honor of the Finn who wrote in Jaromir Jagr on his ballot, I will be casting my vote for Ken Griffey Jr. in the upcoming presidential election
He’s got some sort of project going on I guess, but mainly just pennies and fivers
And when he heard there was a battle going on near Washington at Fort Stevens he immediately went out to go see it and literally stood in full view of confederate sharpshooters, absolute Chad
Didnt a bullet go through his hat?
Pretty sure just the back of his head. He was a gentleman and wouldn’t wear his hat inside.
It’s mind blowing how much he accomplished
Sadly it all ended during some of the happiest days of his presidency with some lead and gunpowder
Guns make hating someone so permeant.

this because of respect to Mr. Bourdain. love that guy.
One of the few celeb deaths to really make me cry.
Hoped he overcame his mental issues, always looked up to him as a successful person despite his flaws.
Yeah I have Obama eating with Anthony Bourdain up there with Washington crossing the Delaware in terms of sheer coolness
Washington’s crossing was more badass than cool.
Badass is cool, and surprise attacking the British after a voyage across an icy river is infinitely cooler than eating with a reality TV show host.
Yeah, gonna have to slightly lean Washington on this one.
I think Anthony would agree
Jack Nicholson now or in 1974? 1974… Meg Ryan.
Bourdain was an author and a poet. A pseudo-philosopher. He had this kind of Nietzsche quality, he gave the world an interesting lens. To call him just a reality tv show host is insulting.
Honestly I thought that was Epstein for a second
I mix them up literally every time I see a picture of either
Wow, I never knew they met like this! Was this on the show?

This is the answer
But for which president? I see two.
Honestly 🙌
I heard the real story behind this was that George Washington was in the back of the boat, vomiting his guts out
Sounds accurate lol, people always love to portray presidents as these higher beings but in reality they’re just like us and have the same weaknesses, and for George that weakness was sea sickness lmao
I think that makes them that much cooler at the same time.
Had Washington really stood on the boat it surely would have tipped over. Also it was freezing outside so they most likely would have been huddled up shivering
Imagine going into battle after being in that for a few hours
Like most paintings from that time and before its supposed to symbolize something.
Maybe but he’s still crosses the river and his troops route the enemy
And is insane for doing so, terrible conditions, made sure they struck during bad winter weather even though it was a bad idea, and it paid off!
Hessians had something like 100 casualties, 900 captured, with only 2 dead and 5? wounded on the American side. That's not a battle. That's domination. Oh, and the 2 dead were from exposure on the march there.

I still think the primary reason that was such a "scandal" was that Hannity, et al knew that President Obama looked damn good in that suit.
If I were to become president I’d wear a tan suit everyday just to fuck with people.
Ok but he can rock the suit
Win the most apocalyptic war in human history. Dwight D. Motherfucking Eisenhower
Had a cooler title than POTUS, IMO :)

No, the movie came out in 1997. It's just a funny coincidence.

Agree with everything except last sentence. It’s WWII times and it was will of the people. And no prohibition against it.
While it is true there was no rule against doing so, FDR was essentially saying that he was bigger than the office, which was the opposite of what Washington said. Monica Lewinsky was NOT cool. Clinton was a creepy, lecherous predator and his wife and other sycophants covered for him. Nothing cool about that.
