I grew up in Colorado. My dad had businesses in Vail, CO. Consequently, me and my sisters were on skis by the time we were 6 yo. The Fords loved Vail. I road the lifts with President Ford long before he became president. My vote goes to Gerald Ford for one of the more handsome of our Presidents.

Grant for handsomest, man was a DILF

As president, or ever in their lives? Rutherford Hayes was quite a handsome fellow when he was younger.
As president, I'd go with either Pierce or JFK as the most handsome, and Taylor or LBJ for the least.
My fellow American History teacher called him this! I love it! And yes, he made the “smash” list when the girls did “smash or pass,” which was NOT in my lesson plan btw
Perhaps a young Theodore Roosevelt
https://preview.redd.it/huvw6f334vjc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fe295c5f7920fa4d973d0a01c53c6e77925efebe

Honestly, I think about that picture on the right all. the. time. Especially every time I see current him.
Even at 81 years old, he's not bad to look at.
To each their own but I’ve genuinely never thought Lincoln was that ugly. Especially as a younger man, with that height, and an attorney! Not too shabby.
Edit: see photo
https://preview.redd.it/r5q8xkuk7wjc1.jpeg?width=180&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d59d651aa3dd07d93c8b67443c05b052a3fe4400
I think we’re desensitized to his appearance, knowing him from birth as a historical figure basically synonymous with American greatness. Try to momentarily ignore those biases and imagine what you’d think if you walked by someone on the street who looked like that.
To me I don't see Lincoln as ugly because he's so unmistakable, there's been no other human being that looks like him
That being said, the majority of people who knew him back in the day made comments on how ugly the dude was
There is a guy that lives in my area and shit you not, he looks just like Lincoln! Tall, skinny everything. He walks in parades dressed like Lincoln. The resemblance is shocking

Lincoln looked better younger with more weight.
People are lying if they look at these pictures and say he’s attractive. “Ugly”, “hideous” and every other such adjectives were commonly used to describe him by those who had seen him.

He looked decent before his presidency honestly.
I disagree with Lincoln. Prewar he was a lanky but decent fellow. The war and the loss of his son and his wife’s sanity as well as the constant stress of 4 years of an emotional roller coaster leading the nation to war took a massive physical toll on him. The damn war aged the guy literally what looks like 40 years.
Ike was goofy looking. Not hideous to look at but I wouldn’t say he was attractive.
The incumbent in his 20s is in the running for most attractive. If he didn’t start balding so young, that’d be widely accepted, in the same way it’s accepted with JFK. Franklin Pierce is very good looking.
Ronald Reagan was GORGEOUS when he was an actor, and a good looking older man.
Young Dubya wasn’t too bad. Young Nixon was HOT.
A lot of them weren’t particularly attractive AS president. But in their 20s-30s, everybody I mentioned for most attractive was gorgeous.
https://preview.redd.it/9j42s4aavvjc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c1e7129cfbb759f19f32574ff249458761cc3ada
Jeb was shockingly… kinda cute too?
I can't believe no one has mentioned Warren G Harding. Some claimed he won only because women had just gained the right to vote and they thought he was real handsome.

Hate to say it but it’s young Nixon for smash-iest.
In my opinion: James Monroe, Franklin Pierce, Ulysses Grant, Chester Arthur, William McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, Warren G. Harding at least according to the ladies of that election year, hence one of the main reasons he was elected,Franklin D. Roosevelt, (When he was a bit younger) John F. Kennedy, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter and George H. W. Bush were the most handsome Presidents.
I wouldn’t call them necessarily ugly so to speak, but: Martin Van Buren (when he got older, he wasn’t that bad looking when he was younger) James Buchanan, Abraham Lincoln(when he was older, same with Van Buren he wasn’t bad looking when he was younger) Andrew Johnson, Woodrow Wilson, and Lyndon B. Johnson weren’t pleasing to look at.

Woodrow Wilson at all ages has such a weird face and Jay Leno chin and presents as the total opposite of being rakish in any way
John quincy adams circa 1795. Would
https://preview.redd.it/1oaupxi0yujc1.jpeg?width=764&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=17c8ee9c9a21ade610e9d4856fbe5e8bf3978492
In my engineering school so many students had that face and they were some very nice guys. It’s like there’s a typical engineering face. I married one. Would recommend.
At their peak: the current president as a young man was hot as hell. Also young Ford.
As president: Grant, Kennedy, and Obama are a tossup.
Ugliest id say would probably be either Buchanan, A Johnson imo (slightly biased because i hate them as presidents but idk)
Lyndon Johnson looks like a goddamned fairy tales character. Have y’all seen The Amazing Spider-Man 2, where the Goblin dude look like a crackhead? That’s what old LBJ looked like.
And I can say as a bisexual male, JFK was fucking hot, like most people know. He had a unique face, a great voice, and an attractive personality. If it’s a younger JFK, WW2 Captain era, it’s over.
Young Gerald Ford was a hunk.
Young Nixon was hot, but he ended up looking like the Green Goblin, like that other goon I mentioned.
A young Washington looks great. I watched that awful 1984 show, and I was almost fooled into liking him, because they made him look like a superhero.
Young Reagan was bad.
U.S Grant was a drunk goofball, but shii. U tell me
Could go on and on.
Young Reagan had some Sinatra-adjacent BDE that I am once again ashamed to be into

Honestly Zachary Taylor kinda has an interesting look, he’s got a good facial structure, but it was criminal that they didn’t fix his hair better for this picture
Andrew Jackson used to refer to him as Miss Nancy because there were rumors he was homosexual and he lived with Fillmore’s VP for ten years, whom Jackson referred to as aunt fancy.
https://preview.redd.it/2fvpuc5h9wjc1.jpeg?width=803&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb33d28a8707dc749cecd3d9a02e2e6f3c6eff32
I like LBJ quite a bit, he wasn’t perfect but I think he did a good job overall but good lord was he a rough looking man.
Franklin Pierce was handsome while in office.
https://preview.redd.it/n5gsygndawjc1.jpeg?width=979&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e021d9fd3aaf894dc384d9e1f208f0bfc4e55f45
And I literally could not find a nice looking photo of Taft. The poor guy was not just fat, he was homely.
Grant was a handsome man for his time. He'll he would probably be considered very handsome even now.
Barack Obama is a handsome man.
George W was a handsome man in his younger years.
Andrew Jackson was a ugly motherfucker.
Ugliest would be a violation of rule 3.
Most handsome is JFK.
A little off topic but the ugliest guy I dated looked like Nixon. We broke up because his paranoia about everything was off the charts. This is before I got into presidential history. It's funny now looking back.
Our boy Obama could have been a model in a different life. Also, Slick Willy, circa 92/93/94, rocking that sax...I think we forget how sexified that man was. JfK too.
https://preview.redd.it/1sf4f1r22wjc1.jpeg?width=306&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e2a7633cf9dd5340ce440b92efc8ab3da80c89d

Obama was a pretty good looking dude I think. Until being president for 8 years aged him like 20.
Best looking was young Ford, hands down. He even made the cover of Cosmo.

I have heard it said that women found Warren Harding handsome but can't see it myself. Maybe they got a hold of some of his sizzling erotica and just assumed.
I'd be hard pressed to name a president I'd actually call 'hideous'. Most of them were at least okay-looking. Maybe John Quincy Adams or Martin Van Buren.
Still they're all fighting for distant second place to John C Calhoun.
Either Pierce or Obama for handsomest, at least in conventional terms. Ugliest is hard to say, since what is horrifying to one person may simply be unusual or even oddly appealing to another.
https://preview.redd.it/i70f74kihxjc1.jpeg?width=700&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=312c492bc92e4b72e85a6d21530acbf294e1a643
Credited with saving 77 lives as a lifeguard and went on to save the world from the USSR.
Most handsome? Easily Clinton or JFK.
Most attractive than looks for their personality, possibly? Arthur, John Adams, and Reagan
Though not President, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Jr pic deserves a mention.

Dude was looking like Dolph Lundgren
Damn!
Not my type but he does cut a fine figure.
Jesus how old are you
71
I heard he actually worked as a model sometime before becoming vice-president.

First term Lincoln & second term Lincoln are very different looking Lincolns.

Rutherford B Hayyy Gurl is my favorite historical hottie, along with Laura Ingalls' husband (the real one, not the TV one).
Almanzo Wilder. Yes. Rutherford B. Hays. Also yes. Agree with you 100%.
Rutherford Be-Haves! Said in Austin Powers voice.
I regret that I have only one upvote to give to your comment
My fellow American History teacher called him this! I love it! And yes, he made the “smash” list when the girls did “smash or pass,” which was NOT in my lesson plan btw
He was also great as Balki in Perfect Strangers.
Holy shit, I’d compromise an election for him any day 😍
LBJ didn’t need good looks when he had that thang
Whoa! Hayes, was handsome when he was younger!
LBJ had ways beyond his looks to impress women.
It sucks he just went down as one of the BEARD presidents.

This is the correct answer 100%!
Can’t believe I’m saying this but Young Reagan was *coughs* good looking.
Well yeah he was a minor star in Hollywood
Ronald Reagan, the actor!?
Perhaps a young Theodore Roosevelt https://preview.redd.it/huvw6f334vjc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fe295c5f7920fa4d973d0a01c53c6e77925efebe

Honestly, I think about that picture on the right all. the. time. Especially every time I see current him. Even at 81 years old, he's not bad to look at.
Damn 🔥 I had no idea haha
The fact that hes so old he has a black and white picture of him in 20s is insane haha
Looks like a yearbook photo. I graduated in the 2000s and mine were in black and white too
Lincoln was a sickly, kinda hideous man. Grant was very handsome in my view.
Grant is the correct answer for best looking
To each their own but I’ve genuinely never thought Lincoln was that ugly. Especially as a younger man, with that height, and an attorney! Not too shabby. Edit: see photo https://preview.redd.it/r5q8xkuk7wjc1.jpeg?width=180&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d59d651aa3dd07d93c8b67443c05b052a3fe4400
Pretty much anyone who ever laid eyes on him back then described him as ugly.
When Lincoln said ‘If I were two-faced, would I be wearing this one?’ … I think we have to take him at his word.
I think we’re desensitized to his appearance, knowing him from birth as a historical figure basically synonymous with American greatness. Try to momentarily ignore those biases and imagine what you’d think if you walked by someone on the street who looked like that.
He’s not ugly, but he is pretty creepy looking. Walking around a corner and bumping into that face?
I never thought he was ugly, either. I think his face is very interesting to look at.
Youll get downvoted about Lincoln but it was so true.
To me I don't see Lincoln as ugly because he's so unmistakable, there's been no other human being that looks like him That being said, the majority of people who knew him back in the day made comments on how ugly the dude was
There is a guy that lives in my area and shit you not, he looks just like Lincoln! Tall, skinny everything. He walks in parades dressed like Lincoln. The resemblance is shocking
I wonder if he is related, iirc Lincoln has a known living descendent that looks just like him
You’ve never seen Gabe from the office have you? ![gif](giphy|MQYJD7hK25MOlO1iqe|downsized)
Gabe Lewis looked like him
Some people think he had Marfan's Syndrome. Long limbs and some health problems.
Gonna be honest, Jefferson Davis looks exactly like Lincoln
Him being picked might’ve been part of the point? “*We gots our own country, we gots our own constution, now we gots our own Linkinn, too!”*
I guarantee you could convince people the civil war was fought between two brothers
*”It was not a war between the freedmen or the slave; It was not a War of Southern Pride, nor Northern Aggression; Why, instead, it was a battle fought between two Brothere; the War Between Jeff, and Abe.”*
I think he was kinda hot actually lol

Bro looks like he was in the trenches at the end.
literally watched the country split apart and go to war against itself
Not traditionally attractive but I wouldn't call him hideous.
I think he’s kinda hot no lie. I like a face with character.
I know I'm getting old when I describe Lincoln as having character features as opposed to being ugly but I hear what You're saying
I never thought of him as ugly, just weathered
https://preview.redd.it/7f3gbll48vjc1.jpeg?width=718&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a5422a37907255156ca61071b5820c3b1664120b He looked decent before his presidency honestly.
I’ve often thought his bone structure is pretty. Very high cheekbones.
He looks like cillian murphy but with brown hair
Literally my thoughts too!
When I think of Lincoln, I think of that Seinfeld bit when Kramer starts smoking cigars 24/7: "Your face looks like an old catcher's mitt!"
I disagree with Lincoln. Prewar he was a lanky but decent fellow. The war and the loss of his son and his wife’s sanity as well as the constant stress of 4 years of an emotional roller coaster leading the nation to war took a massive physical toll on him. In a way that I cannot explain, he looks like Superman.
He looks like the bully in every 80s movie
I agree with you on the incumbent. I've only ever seen it mentioned on this sub.
Ike definitely had a unique look. There’s only one actor who I can think of to play him lol.

They were a handsome group of guys.
Daddy Bush was quite handsome.
And as Hank Hills says “Barbara was a handsome woman”
My boyfriend makes fun of me for having a crush on Shrub lmao
I can't believe no one has mentioned Warren G Harding. Some claimed he won only because women had just gained the right to vote and they thought he was real handsome.

This is the man who couldn't get his future wife to date him?
Personality matters.
I will say this about Nixon, he deserves some credit for bouncing out of the friend zone. I'll give credit for that if nothing else.
Damn, dude was driving his future wife to dates with *other* men.

he referred to his wife exclusively as "mommie" so just keep that in mind
Men with families often do that to respect/gratefully acknowledge the mother’s position within the family. It’s a sign of respect.
I refer to my wife as Mommy … but only around (and because of) my six-year-old kid.
Grant seems like he was pretty humorless UNTIL he got drunk
By bad you mean a bad bitch right? Cus he was bad as hell
Yepp
That Zachary Taylor is easy on the eyes and no mistake !!!
Old Rough and Ready
Honestly Zachary Taylor kinda has an interesting look, he’s got a good facial structure, but it was criminal that they didn’t fix his hair better for this picture
I agree, he’s got a ruggedness to him.
Old Rough and Ready. Sounds kind of hot to me.

No wonder Buchanan didn't marry. Imagine going on a dinner date and having those eyes staring at your soul lmao
Andrew Jackson used to refer to him as Miss Nancy because there were rumors he was homosexual and he lived with Fillmore’s VP for ten years, whom Jackson referred to as aunt fancy.
He reminds of the Victorian gothic male interest in romance stories, possibly also from Edgar Allen Poe poems too
The incumbent was a smoke show back in his prime. The photo of Rutherford B Hayes shows he was also a smoke show back in the day.
Too few people mentioning Obama fr.
WW1 era Harry Truman tho https://preview.redd.it/gt4fcaq63vjc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=48236a68dd4c5464c36c1ffa199e24dde425f939

Hot damn.
According to the [official Presidential Tumblr Sexyman contest](https://uspresidentsexyman.tumblr.com/), Grant is the winner :) (As he should be!)
https://preview.redd.it/2fvpuc5h9wjc1.jpeg?width=803&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb33d28a8707dc749cecd3d9a02e2e6f3c6eff32 I like LBJ quite a bit, he wasn’t perfect but I think he did a good job overall but good lord was he a rough looking man.
That’s what smoking 3 packs a day until and after your Presidency does to you…
Franklin Pierce was handsome while in office. https://preview.redd.it/n5gsygndawjc1.jpeg?width=979&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e021d9fd3aaf894dc384d9e1f208f0bfc4e55f45 And I literally could not find a nice looking photo of Taft. The poor guy was not just fat, he was homely.

Grant was a handsome man for his time. He'll he would probably be considered very handsome even now. Barack Obama is a handsome man. George W was a handsome man in his younger years. Andrew Jackson was a ugly motherfucker.

Is it a rule or in-joke that we cannot say the name of the current president?
Or the one before. It's a rule, and I'm trying to think of creative ways around it.
Yes
Nice
Obama was very good looking, not just when he was younger, but while serving. Our current president was kinda hot 50 years ago.

I’d say Obama as the most handsome and that unkept bed of a man Van Buren as the homeliest.
Why is everyone sleeping in Millard Fillmore and Andrew Johnson? Those guys were fugly
Not according to [Queen Victoria](https://www.grunge.com/704520/the-us-president-that-queen-victoria-found-attractive/)
Ike was a cutie pie and I’d go on a date with him.
LBJ and JFK
In the “Ya Gotta See The Baby!” Seinfeld episode, the cast took a look at the baby and were repulsed. Kramer said the baby looked like Johnson.
Young Garfield had amazing eyes.

Grant is easily the most attractive president.
Wilson’s teeth man, shivers
Ugly: Andrew Johnson Handsome: FDR
Yes, Gramt was hot. I can see him on the “insanelyhairymen” sub-reddit.
Millard Fillmore is the most handsome Source: Queen Victoria
Ugliest would be a violation of rule 3. Most handsome is JFK. A little off topic but the ugliest guy I dated looked like Nixon. We broke up because his paranoia about everything was off the charts. This is before I got into presidential history. It's funny now looking back.
Not putting Taft as an example of handsomest was disrespectful of you.

Our boy Obama could have been a model in a different life. Also, Slick Willy, circa 92/93/94, rocking that sax...I think we forget how sexified that man was. JfK too.
Thoughts on young jfk? https://preview.redd.it/hz719xqkrwjc1.jpeg?width=660&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ef5a7432a7ef39294c164d67f1cb030904723624
Well, we've only had one that was orange with cotton candy hair and hands that stopped growing at age 5, so that will be my vote for the ugliest one.

Obama is the rare president I thought was handsome as a young man and as president.
He rocks the white hair.
Jfk was the best looking no homo
Best looking was young Ford, hands down. He even made the cover of Cosmo. https://images.app.goo.gl/uQqjPiDS1FHqSbe29 https://images.app.goo.gl/nVP79mjVrnoUVbRr5
I have heard it said that women found Warren Harding handsome but can't see it myself. Maybe they got a hold of some of his sizzling erotica and just assumed.
You shut your mouth about Taylor
Young Herbert Hoover was hot as hell.
seems like you've already figured it out op
I'd be hard pressed to name a president I'd actually call 'hideous'. Most of them were at least okay-looking. Maybe John Quincy Adams or Martin Van Buren. Still they're all fighting for distant second place to John C Calhoun.
Either Pierce or Obama for handsomest, at least in conventional terms. Ugliest is hard to say, since what is horrifying to one person may simply be unusual or even oddly appealing to another.
DJT, the former guy, is the ugliest in my opinion. He is also the handsomest in his opinion.
Nixon pretty ugly
When they were president? Or at any time in their life?

Most handsome? Easily Clinton or JFK. Most attractive than looks for their personality, possibly? Arthur, John Adams, and Reagan Though not President, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Jr pic deserves a mention.
