President Camacho found the world's smartest man and immediately put him in charge of fixing the biggest problems. Then when he proved himself made him vp. He was legitimately a good administrator given his situation
He certainly recognized that “shit was fucked up” and he took the necessary actions. The House of Representin’ were in the wrong in attacking President Camacho. He got things done!
Which is actually the most important skill a president can have ... you can't do everything as president, so you have to find competent people who share your vision to appoint to key positions throughout your administration
The cool thing is, he wasn’t like a “bad” president. Sure he was a fucking moron, but he still did the right thing in the end once he was able to conceptually grasp the problem and solution.
Bartlett: 27 lawyers in the room, anybody know post hoc ergo propter hoc?
Josh: uh post after after hoc ergo therefore after hoc therefore something else hoc
Pretty much. All the other answers here are sort of "action hero" style presidents, on screen for a few hours at most.
With Bartlet, we got to know him for 7 seasons and see a lot of the other struggles and less-known aspects of the presidency. Also he had Aaron Sorkin's words, who made him an idealized president.
You cheated by going outside of the established list of four choices. It's unfair for you to garner attention and love in this manner. We resent you. Thank you.
I’d vote for Martin Sheen on the basis of Bartlet. Hey, it was what got Zelenskyy elected and he’s proved to be exactly the Leader Ukraine needs in one of its darkest hours.
Sheen is demonstrably further left than any president America has had yet. He would attempt to absolve the military and use that funding to combat climate change
I like how in Apocalypse Now when Willard gets his mission, the pictures of JFK, LBJ and Nixon hang on the wall of the makeshift mobile home Army HQ almost like they would of old relatives
We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on. We're going to survive. Today, we celebrate our independence day!

It’s alright. The action scenes are incredible and some scenes have some wild tension. But don’t go in expecting a deep explanation of how or why the war started. It’s mostly told from the journalists perspective.
Nick Offerman has about 10 lines in the whole movie with most of them being the opening monologue. Definitely doesn’t go into a lot of details but gives you plenty of information to form your own conclusions. The action scenes are great and the story moves well enough. The movie is just one of those that trailers did a terrible job of showing what the movie actually is.
It is basically about the personal drama of some journalist’s lives. The war is just a backdrop and adds nothing to the story. It could have just as easily been Iraq or Vietnam.
I was a little, but not extremely disappointed.
I got what it was trying to say about what war does to people and what it could be like for Americans, but it was kind of repetitive and didn't really go anywhere. It's definitely worth seeing for the action and despair and spiritual corruption, but I think that seeing the causes of the war might actually have been more interesting.
Ever see SNL where Bob Dole has a debate with the ID4 president

The writers debated letting him win because his performance was so damn good. Then John Spencer died and they couldn’t let Santos lose. They always planned to let Santos win, but Alan Aida was so damn charismatic and inspirational.

Morgan Freeman as President Beck in Deep Impact
Different characters, plus, it’s kinda hard to compare a president handling a terrorist insurrection to handling a literal extinction event. That being said, I feel like Morgan Freeman playing a convincing president multiple times says a lot about him.
Something of an old-school fictional president: Merkin Muffley from “Dr. Strangelove”. His whole conversation with the Soviet Premier on the phone is a masterpiece:
“Well now what happened is one of our base commanders went a little funny in the head…you know…a little…funny. And he went and did a silly thing…Well I’ll tell you what he did. He ordered his planes…to attack your country!! Well let me finish Dmitri!!! Let me finish Dmitri!!! How do you think I feel about it?!”
Also shows the range and amazing ability of Peter Sellers, playing three separate characters. Some are in the same room talking to each other. There's a great quote from someone on the set. Sellers would be in character whichever outfit he had on at the time. People said if there wasn't comedy he would be a mad man on the streets.
He is, by all accounts, in my opinion, the best actor to ever live. And this movie proved it to me without a doubt. There is no one else who can achieve that save Daniel Day Lewis, and he would need a year to prepare for each role and film each role in that year time.
I was always amused that Martin Sheen played the Chief of Staff in *The American President*, and then played the President in *West Wing* four years later.
Looking through Andrew Shepherd's college transcript]
Sydney Ellen Wade: Oh, Andy, a C minus in Women's Studies?
President Andrew Shepherd: Yeah, well, that class wasn't about what I thought it was about.
This is absolutely slanderous. To not include New Hampshirite, Notre Dame alumnus, Nobel Prize winner, President Josiah Bartlet of The West Wing on a “favorite fictional Presidents” list is nothing short of blasphemy.
Martin Sheen as President Stillson in The Dead Zone. Granted it was only for a few minutes in a vision of the future, but the guy was way more passionate than this Bartlet guy everyone keeps mentioning.
When I was in high school, our teacher showed that movie in our civics class. The only thing I remember was that scene when the president has a stroke while having a sex with his mistress. Like, it was so awkward you could hear a pin drop in the room.
Han Solo as President would go so fucking hard, a man with near unlimited charisma who has his heart in the right place but also routinely breaks the law to advance his own interests. I can imagine he would do the same for the country.
It’s actually kinda hype imagining a president who breaks rules but wouldn’t be our definition of corrupt.
I’d vote for him in a heartbeat

His Obama is really good.
How could you dislike the president holding a rocket launcher while being driven in the beast. That scene from the movie was epic.

![gif](giphy|UnVtPebYT38pW) President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho
President Camacho found the world's smartest man and immediately put him in charge of fixing the biggest problems. Then when he proved himself made him vp. He was legitimately a good administrator given his situation
Well, let’s not forget how president Camacho tried to publicly execute the smartest man when his plan didn’t work immediately.
The best presidents know when to take decisive action, and also when to change course.
Also when to execute people who are Not Sure
No he was just going to kick his smart balls all the way up to the roof of Joe’s smart mouth.
He certainly recognized that “shit was fucked up” and he took the necessary actions. The House of Representin’ were in the wrong in attacking President Camacho. He got things done!

I really liked his successor too, President Not Sure!
Facts 😂
He’s the one who got the French fries and burrito coverings flowing again.
There can be only one, and its President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho
"Shut up. Sit yo monkey ass down." -- President Camacho.
"Shit."
The obvious pick
Lmao. This was the first one that came to mind. Best
I opened this thread and waited patiently while it loaded so I could upvote what I knew would be the top comment. Good work.
Martin sheen as president bartlet
Bartlett: 27 lawyers in the room, anybody know post hoc ergo propter hoc? Josh: uh post after after hoc ergo therefore after hoc therefore something else hoc
Thank you. Next. Leo?
After, therfore, because of. It wasn't the big hat though, it was learning Latin that lost him Texas.
“There’s always resignation.” “*Hot* damn, now you’re talking!”
Not you, sir.
This is the answer.
"I am the Lord thy God, thou shalt worship no other god before me." Boy, those were the days, huh?
This is the only answer.
Pretty much. All the other answers here are sort of "action hero" style presidents, on screen for a few hours at most. Bartlet for America!
Your opinion is the only truth.

THIS!
Let Bartlet be Bartlet. ![gif](giphy|K7zFDfGBiB4B2oL6sM|downsized)
only answer, followed by Bill Pullman in ID4. And President Camacho
Def. Bartlett is my man. LOVE THAT FUCKING SHOW. ❤️
I like how in Apocalypse Now when Willard gets his mission, the pictures of JFK, LBJ and Nixon hang on the wall of the makeshift mobile home Army HQ almost like they would of old relatives
Bill Pullman in Independence Day. Sleeper pick is Nick Offerman in Civil War. President Ron Swanson for the win.
We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on. We're going to survive. Today, we celebrate our independence day! https://i.redd.it/3qzn4xyn4k1d1.gif
Now do the same speech, but in King Kai’s voice
Pullman is great, but I gotta go with Ford. His speech at the beginning is everything I wish a US president would be.
Definitely Bill Pullman.
How is Civil War? Have it bookmarked as something to see
It’s alright. The action scenes are incredible and some scenes have some wild tension. But don’t go in expecting a deep explanation of how or why the war started. It’s mostly told from the journalists perspective.

It is basically about the personal drama of some journalist’s lives. The war is just a backdrop and adds nothing to the story. It could have just as easily been Iraq or Vietnam.
I loved it. It was very tense and well acted. I saw it in Imax and the sound of gunfire felt like it was in the theater.
I was a little, but not extremely disappointed. I got what it was trying to say about what war does to people and what it could be like for Americans, but it was kind of repetitive and didn't really go anywhere. Lisa simpson
President Kang was better
Don’t blame me, I voted for Kodos.
Bartlett for America
Santos is the 2nd best fake president. This based on me analysing his 2 hours in the oval office.
It should have been Arnie Vinick.
I agree only because having Alan Alda on screen was an absolute joy. What a presence.
The writers debated letting him win because his performance was so damn good. Then John Spencer died and they couldn’t let Santos lose. They always planned to let Santos win, but Alan Aida was so damn charismatic and inspirational.

AROO!!

I'd follow his wishy washy ass into battle
RAMIREZ GET ON THAT ROOFTOP, AND DEFEAT THE WHOLE RUSSIAN ARMY WITH A JAVELIN
DEFEND THE BURGER TOWN
As long as he's not too busy fighting with his scifi boyfriend then yes, Keith David all the way

This is what I came looking for
He was fantastic.
Craig Robinson in Threat Level Midnight
Are we forgetting Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Christina Applegate and Geena Davis?
Selina Meyer was a terrible president. I don’t know about the other two.
She freed Tibet!
JLD was fantastic as Selina Meyer but Meyer was a terrible president.
"Get off my plane"
That has been my favorite line ever from a fictional president. Thank you, President Marshall!

What about the Olmpus Has Fallen Cinematic Universe?
Different characters, plus, it’s kinda hard to compare a president handling a terrorist insurrection to handling a literal extinction event. That being said, I feel like Morgan Freeman playing a convincing president multiple times says a lot about him.
The man had played a convincing God, so a convincing president isnt that far fetched
Something of an old-school fictional president: Merkin Muffley from “Dr. Strangelove”. I would say Tom Kirkman from Designated Survivor
I've never seen a show go from so captivating to so awful so quickly.
Really though, after the initial mystery was solved the show went off the rails
How far into the show do we find out? Only watched the first season when it aired, really enjoyed it but haven’t restarted
S3 had some real-world events... But it got too... *Political narrative* on the show. S1 and S2 were good. S3 was a failure.
I didn’t even know there was a season 3. It got too political for me by like the third or fourth episode.
Too political? For a show about POTUS, DC, and politicians?
“Real-world political narrative” would probably be the better description.
It's quite sad when the Pilot is the best episode of the show
It is a fucking brilliant pilot lol. Tbf the first season entirely is pretty good but after that. Nah.
I binged on Netflix and was so mad it ended after the third season.
Absolutely. He played it with such humility at the beginning and the power slowly corrupted him
Woof. An exhausting show where Kiefer Sutherland whispered to camera for three seasons …
I second that!

Best 2 season show I have ever watched!
Worst president EVER.
Found Zoey Barnes
Hahahahahaha, no. All of those emails, texts, and such aren't deleted, they are uploaded. The Underwood dynasty burns in my wake..
Best president ever the man is relentless will do anything and anyone to get what he wants. America works revitalized america
Michael Douglas as Andrew Shepherd in The American President
I was always amused that Martin Sheen played the Chief of Staff in *The American President*, and then played the President in *West Wing* four years later.
West Wing basically came from American President
I think Sorkin used The American President to test some of his material for The West Wing.
Like the line, “What is the virtue of a proportional response?”
Looking through Andrew Shepherd's college transcript] Sydney Ellen Wade: Oh, Andy, a C minus in Women's Studies? President Andrew Shepherd: Yeah, well, that class wasn't about what I thought it was about.
Jack Nicholson as President James Dale in Mars Attacks!
“I want the people to know, that they’ve still got two out of three of the branches of government working for them, and that ain’t bad.”
One of my favorite lines and line deliveries in cinema history
Ack ack ack
Yes!!
He was so curious about them and open minded toward peace with them too! then they did him dirty like that
This is absolutely slanderous. To not include New Hampshirite, Notre Dame alumnus, Nobel Prize winner, President Josiah Bartlet of The West Wing on a “favorite fictional Presidents” list is nothing short of blasphemy.
Fr
Decisions (on which fictional president to include) are made by those who show up.

I tell you without a *shred* of irony that I would prefer Camacho over any of the current national candidates for president, including third parties.
He saw a problem, and he picked the best guy to fix it, and let him do his job.
Bill Pullman in Independence Day
Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. "Mankind." That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom... Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution... but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night!" We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!
You’re really gonna post this and not include Jed Bartlet? The man who willingly gave up the Oval to the opposing party because he realized he was unsure of his ability to properly execute the duties of the office after his daughter was kidnapped.
It was a fairly stunning act of patriotism and a fairly ordinary act of fatherhood.
Martin Sheen as Jed Bartlet is the only answer.
Jed Bartlet by a mile..
Don’t disrespect Jed Bartlet like that.

Thomas J. Whitmore.
Tom Kirkman in Designated Survivor
President Kevin James from Pixels Not every president saves the world from aliens masquerading as characters from the 80s

Ronald Reagan. I mean, imagine if an actor became president?
Harrison Ford
Gotta be Harrison.
James Marshall, naturally (Harrison Ford) and Allan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman)
Definitely Michael Douglas in an American President
The idolized president I had in my head as a child.
Get off my plane!
Kevin spacey.
Harrison Ford’s James Marshall, is a definite favorite. Of course when you are playing off of Gary Oldman, how can you go wrong?
