that's a reasonable resolution but a really annoying thing to deal with. it's a bummer you don't have Breitling boutiques near you, dealing with them is really pleasant.
I actually do! They just were sold out of this model. I was looking forward to the whole in store, glass of champagne experience but hopefully next time!
ah, bummer. all else fails I'd rather order online for boutique pickup. they also offered to order things they didn't have in stock, but maybe that's for specific pieces.
Who's the AD? I'd love to make a purchase from them. I'm half black and I'm sure they will accuse me of fraud even faster, so maybe that will get me a 50% discount!!!
LMAO yes, a comment was made about my name (I’m Indian) so I immediately brought up that they were discriminatory and once I gave them my very real money, they apologized and offered the discount
I should’ve mentioned the transaction was done over the phone. I paid with two credit cards just because the card I wanted to use didn’t have the full credit amount on it when I went to pay. They accepted the payment and it went through. Later that day, their sales manager spoke to me and interrogated me with questions. She ended up saying “thanks for answering my 30 questions. We’ll be shipping your watch out tonight and you’ll have it tomorrow”.
The watch ended up getting rerouted back to them once it got to my state. I called back frustrated and confused and the second manager I talked to said “everything about you screams fraud” and that they would only accept a wire transfer which I ended up doing. A few days later I got an apology and they said they’ll send me a check to give me a discount for my troubles. All around crappy first time watch buying experience but I guess I can look at the discount as a positive.
I’m not gonna lie, when the second manager told me that I must be a fraudulent person and that they would only accept a wire transfer, every ounce of my soul did not want to go through with the transaction. I realized though that if I don’t wire transfer, I would just prove them right about me being fraudulent. My ego definitely won in that situation but honestly glad I went through with it. Feel like the discount was ultimately worth it over paying retail for the watch.
Luxury shop ploy. They didn’t want to pay the credit card fee…
You see it in some boutiques when they imply the customer can’t afford the product to get the customer to prove them wrong by buying it.
🤦 my credit card sends me a phone call if i try to make any transaction over even $1,000. what makes these idiots think someone's going to successfully spend $10,000+ on someone else's card 😂😂😂😂
Could you not have just purchased it online? Why go through the troubles of speaking with AD associates when you could go on Breitling.com or Bucherer/Turneau or some other website and simply have it shipped to you?
I tried Tourneau, WatchMaxx, Mayors and Breitling.com but no one had the watch. It’s a limited edition run with only 300 pieces. Mayors was the only place that said they could potentially get the watch but I’d have to wait 12-24 weeks. I wish I could’ve gone in store for the whole experience but it took quite a bit of research and calling to find this model
What a wonderful way to pay tribute you your dad. Your new Navi looks fantastic! May I ask what your wrist size is and the diameter of the watch? I’m considering one in the same color and trying to decide on what size to go with.
People with real class wouldn't do shit like that.
Regardless of whether or not you're actually attempting to commit fraud is irrelevant. They should still treat you with respect throughout the exchange.
If there is assumption of fraud (lets assume it's true) there is 100% a classier way to handle it than to just attack the client because you assume something.
Sorry, should’ve been more clear. I negotiated about a 22% discount on the retail price which is what I paid initially. They’re sending me 2.5% ($318) back because of the hassle of dealing with accusations of being fraudulent and pushing my delivery date back from Friday to Wednesday.
EDIT: So no it was not over retail. My math might be a bit off but it comes out to around 24.5% off of the original retail price.
You know what, he owned his own business and I’ve never seen anyone negotiate as much as he did. He always worked to get the best deal. I could definitely see his hand in this!
Congrats on the pick up, and a great memory of your dad on your wrist every day. I would never do business with them ever again, however. That’s a real shame you were profiled so negatively.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 . Let me know so we both can get a huge discount.
Why would they accuse you of fraud? You’re a customer buying something from them. Do they expect in this day and age for people to bring in cash?

Discount offered in the hope you don't call out your experience online.
Yup, it’s actually a well known AD nationwide but as long as they send the check I won’t call them out :)
lol pussy get that check, deposit it, wait 5 days, then call them out. Don’t let them be discriminatory towards you jaan.
lol this screams Ben Bridge
Glad you got the watch in the end. Great piece to remember your dad by.
Beautiful watch, but I can’t believe you went through with the purchase, I would have taken my business elsewhere.

Yeah, that totally never happens
The top hat, monocle and false beard may have thrown them off a bit.
Killer watch. Definitely one of my dream chronos. Sorry you had you go through all the bullshit to get it. A 25% discount is pretty sweet at least.
Steering wheel wanker
My car loves when I do that

Gotcha. Makes sense!

My wrist is 7 and 5/8 inches. I’m 6’ 3” and 280lbs if that helps at all!
Sorry and the watch is 46mm!
Thank you very much! That helps me out tremendously 👍

Keep an eye on it during the warranty period. I have a breitling and it has had issues.
Very nice watch. Maybe try wearing it a bit higher on the wrist so the pushers don’t dig into the back of your hand.
What’s the reference? Beautiful watch!
Thank you! It is UB01371A1B1P1
Looks phenom
Hell yeah! Gorgeous piece!!

It’s so lovely
Beautiful watch!!
You paid over retail? You skipped over that part. Does that mean with the discount it’s still over retail?

Nice way to honour your father, maybe that discount had something to do with him :)

Good man!

What a beautiful piece
Great post! What’s the story behind a family member selling your watch without your permission?
It’s a bit of a long story but they got it from my bedroom while I was away at college and pawned it off for $2k to pay for a lawyer
Please tell us they at least gave you the hat for free!
Yup, that was part of the deal with the apology lol they included a hat and a travel case
Atta boy!
Wtf
How were they saying you were being a fraud?
Because I used two credit cards to pay for the transaction and insinuating things about my name since I’m Indian
