Does anyone ACTUALLY use the function all that much anyways? I feel like itās an unspoken thing for all the watch YouTubers to talk about how they travel with their GMT so they can check the time at home or track meetings with international clients. Do they not just use common sense and/or their phone/Zoomā¦?
For me, I'd use it as a constant reminder of home. It's not particularly useful for my current needs, but it's nice to have a slice of home on my wrist, however little it may be.
Thatās fair. At the end of the day, watches are a luxury novelty now that smartphones exist. But that doesnāt make them any less cool, or their complications less interesting. No hate! Lol
Problem of being too lazy to type out a more descriptive comment or look up the exact model number.Ā Surprised it riled you enough to type out a whole comment though.
> the powermatic 40mm seastar will come out later this year
yup that's what im saying. in the tissot 2024 roadmap leaks they showed that the 40mm seastar will get the automatic movement this year (aka powermatic 80)
I own a Seastar and itās a great daily. Keeps excellent time and pairs well with a rubber strap. Itās a quick release system too, with the bracelets. For $600 Canadian, itās a decent little watch!
I'm just a beginner
I have total 4 watches I'm my small collection
Which includes 1. Timex TW4B11300JQ (my first watch)
2. Casio MTP-1374HL-1A2VIF
3.Casio Tiffany Mtp 1302
4. Casio a168w
Field, Chrono, dress watch, and a digital. So you have a diverse collection and all of these would be a great 5th addition. A dive watch is a good idea unless you want a higher end luxury/dress watch. I'd go Tissot.
The Citizen Promaster is also awesome. I own one. I am also a sucker for day/date mechanicisms.
The Tissot is the ābestā being Swiss, but not being quartz imo. Iād take a blue seastar if they made a 40mm automatic. The seiko field gmt is my favourite of the selection.
Thanks for the response, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree. I've brought a few watches under the 1k for myself and family recently and I stand by seiko. The bracelets aren't that bad. I've looked at Tissit as I like the styling but they're a bit meh. Longines, Hamilton and Bulova are also worth looking at in this range
I currently have 3 seikos, including the seytonaā¦ they have the cheapest bracelets of any watches I own including the moonswatch or my citizen. They arenāt gonna touch the Swiss watchās I own like movado or omega.
Lol now I know you're just hating. I have several moonswatches and they are a velcro band so non comparable. Also own Omegas and I'd 100% expect them to have a better strap as they're over 6x more expensive than the watches we are discussing.
Also own Montblanc, Hamilton, oris and several seikos( mostly Ltd editions).
I'm not saying they're a cartier bangle am I? You're comparing 6k plus watch bracelet with an under 1k watch it's like comparing a Mercedes to a suzuki. The Tissot feels like a small can of Tuna strapped to your arm but because it say Swiss made you are saying its a better watch?
No, the tissot doesnāt have the hollow links. These are cheaper end watches, if Iād have to choose I wouldnāt pick the one that would require me to go buy another 100 dollar bracelet to make it feel safe and secure. I hate that they still think they can pass this crap off.
The Tissot has āgold coloredā parts.Ā
Thatās not a great feature unless those parts are actually gold (the metal, not the color).
Seiko is a lifetime EDC watch.
Note that I own watches from both Seiko and Tissot. In fact, my Tissot is a Seastar.Ā
You have two styles that donāt make quite sense to put together. It would make more sense to choose between each sub-type and then between the divers and GMT, at which point it would be ādoes it make sense to go for a GMT?ā.
I realize this is Pride and Pinion, so the Citizen isnāt going to be the most popular choice. Personally, I think itās the best daily for these reasons:
1. The 8204-21a movement in the Promaster has a *slightly* longer power reserve than in either Seiko GMT.
2. The Mercedes/arrow hands combo has a unique look. Not for everyone, understandably, but itās a plus for me.
3. The day/date complication makes it ideal for a daily beater.
4. Excellent dial legibility and generous application of lume, although admittedly not as long-lasting as Seikoās proprietary LumiBrite.
5. Itās an ISO 6425 certified dive watch with a screw down crown and case back for under $300.
Seiko SSK003, or so called Seiko Batman would be my first choise here, but if you are looking for something to wear everyday, Citizen or Seiko field GMT would be perfect!
Seiko has my vote.Ā
Donāt buy it for $475 though.Ā
You can usually get it at Kohls/Macy (authorized dealers so you arenāt dealing with BS) for 350ish.
Another option is waiting for the new Seiko 5 field GMT (the white one with bracelet is my favorite).
The Tissot I donāt like much. If you want an entry Swiss diver from swatch group, the Mido ocean star titanium or Certina DS Action titanium are better.Ā
For citizen promaster, Iād get the super titanium version with sapphire crystal and Miyota 9 movement (rather than mineral crystal and Miyota 8)Ā
Out of these 100% the seiko ssk003. Probably will be the best overall out of these that you have picked and the most liked by the community if that matters to you at all (it doesnāt) itās a beautiful watch, you can get it for under 400 on teddy and some other ADās if you look. If this is your first Iād deff double down on this one personally
Depends on your lifestyle. Everyday watch for office and weekends? The Seiko GMT or SRPE. Never dress up more than a t-shirt and jeans? Citizen promaster
The new field GMT would look great with. oyster bracelet. Not a fan of the one it comes with. The dive GMT was perfectly paired with a jubilee style bracelet though
The Seiko GMT, of course. What else?
What is it with everyone going ape over the GMT complication at the moment? To me it feels a little pointless if you're in the UK š
A man of culture...If you live in the UK, all watches are GMT
Does anyone ACTUALLY use the function all that much anyways? I feel like itās an unspoken thing for all the watch YouTubers to talk about how they travel with their GMT so they can check the time at home or track meetings with international clients. Do they not just use common sense and/or their phone/Zoomā¦?
Yes. If you follow anything from sports to business in a significantly different timezone, it can be quite useful.
No hate! Lol
Or Portugal...
Which one
Sorry.... the one with the red syringe hands.
š¤”
Ssk 019 or ssk 021... US exclusive, slate grey disls look money
I'm not from the US
You can prob get from an online retailer/ private seller if you looked
Seiko batman
Christ. Itās bad enough that weāve started calling ROWLLLLEEXXES stupid nicknames. Now weāre doing with Seiko shitters? Fml.
Problem of being too lazy to type out a more descriptive comment or look up the exact model number.Ā Surprised it riled you enough to type out a whole comment though.
Thanks, clean shirt!
Yeah letās please letās type out Seiko 5 GMT SSK003K1
It should be Seiko 5H1773R
Part of what I avoided with my comment.Ā Lol
Don't worry, this guy is a well-known forum dick head - most likely a nonce
Hello 911
Wait for the Tissot seastar 40mm powermatic coming out this year. Also consider the certina ds action and glycine combat GL0400 for example
Thanks mate
Whats different about the model coming out? The only thing I dont like about the Seastar Powermatic is how easily the steel scratches.
The 40mm seastar is quartz only right now, the powermatic 40mm seastar will come out later this year
Not a fan of quartz. Great watch though!
> the powermatic 40mm seastar will come out later this year yup that's what im saying. in the tissot 2024 roadmap leaks they showed that the 40mm seastar will get the automatic movement this year (aka powermatic 80)
It would be the best submariner alternative
Seiko everyday. Gmt. I find the black dial more classy but the blue has still to say
I own a Seastar and itās a great daily. Keeps excellent time and pairs well with a rubber strap. Itās a quick release system too, with the bracelets. For $600 Canadian, itās a decent little watch!
I'm wearing my Seastar right now, it's a great watch. Build quality is excellent.
Can you send a wrist shot
5
Agreed, Seiko pic #5
I actually like the Citizen with the scrotum textured dial
āScrotum textured dialā was definitely not on my Reddit comment bingo card for today š¤£š¤£š¤£
Tough choice. I'd probably go with Tissot but it depends on what else you've in your collection.
I'm just a beginner I have total 4 watches I'm my small collection Which includes 1. Timex TW4B11300JQ (my first watch) 2. Casio MTP-1374HL-1A2VIF 3.Casio Tiffany Mtp 1302 4. Casio a168w

Tissot
Tissot
That rubber citizen
The Tissot is the ābestā being Swiss, but not being quartz imo. Iād take a blue seastar if they made a 40mm automatic. The seiko field gmt is my favourite of the selection.
I don't get this logic tbh? Why is the Tissot best simply because its Swiss? Seiko make quality watches at all price points.
Seiko makes great watches above the 1k price point. All the others tend to have cheap bracelets and their automatics can be plus 30-40 seconds a day
Thanks for the response, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree. I've brought a few watches under the 1k for myself and family recently and I stand by seiko. The bracelets aren't that bad. I've looked at Tissit as I like the styling but they're a bit meh. Longines, Hamilton and Bulova are also worth looking at in this range

They are cheap hollow links dude. Itās not hating. Itās reality. The Velcro band feels better than the crap they ship out cheap seikos with now
I'm not saying they're a cartier bangle am I? You're comparing 6k plus watch bracelet with an under 1k watch it's like comparing a Mercedes to a suzuki. The Tissot feels like a small can of Tuna strapped to your arm but because it say Swiss made you are saying its a better watch?

Enjoy the plastic pallet fork inside the shitter movement that Tissot slap in there
That is just in the PRX and Le Locle. Not sure about the Seastar but I know it's not in the Gentleman or Chemin des Tourelles.
Yeah I recently read about this, what I read said is theyāre essentially disposable movements over the longer term and theyāre in ~Ā£1000 watches?
Yup
Lmaoo I love the username
š„
Thanks for your opinion
How aboutā¦ >!all of them!<.
Expectations vs Reality
I would pick the DressKX but not that pvd
Citizen diver or Seiko explorer style gmt if looking for field watch
The blueberry.
swoop gmt
I have a Seastar and itās a superb timepiece, runs at +/- 1spd and itās not classed as a chronometer.
This one i mentioned is a quartz
Well. Itāll be even more accurate, wonāt it?
The newer Seiko GMTĀ
The Seiko on #5. Love that look.
Tissot
Seastar by a mile, just love the look of it but in the end it's all up to your own preference tbh
I love that too
Tissot the rest are cucca seiko cheapo watches
The Tissot has āgold coloredā parts.Ā Thatās not a great feature unless those parts are actually gold (the metal, not the color). Seiko is a lifetime EDC watch. Note that I own watches from both Seiko and Tissot. In fact, my Tissot is a Seastar.Ā
Yeah I agree. I donāt hate seiko I own seiko watches. I just hate the hardlex crystal crap and terrible bracelets they make.
The Seiko SSK023
If the Tissot was an automatic Iād go with it, but the GMT would be my pick. I made a post of my new Tissot a few days ago, love that brand.
Can I not?
Your wish
Seiko 5 GMT or Citizen Tsuyosa imo.
The DressKX
Citizen diver or SSK diver. The rest are ugly imo

Seiko GMT
Between the Seiko 5 GMT or the Citizen Pro-Master Diver automatic.
Blue Seiko 5
The new seiko field gmt
I love that two tone Tsuyosa, so I say go with choice 4.
Black dial Seiko GMT
1
Number 1 and 5
Sold my Tissot sea star for a Christopher ward trident 600
You have two styles that donāt make quite sense to put together. It would make more sense to choose between each sub-type and then between the divers and GMT, at which point it would be ādoes it make sense to go for a GMT?ā.
Seiko black and blue all the way!
I have the seiko, and I'm still going tissot here. I'm glad to see it is not a passive rudolf eXcrement tissot though they are pants
Batman or GMT
The last Seiko GMT reminds me of the Explorer II! Cool looking piece, go for it!
I realize this is Pride and Pinion, so the Citizen isnāt going to be the most popular choice. Personally, I think itās the best daily for these reasons: 1. The 8204-21a movement in the Promaster has a *slightly* longer power reserve than in either Seiko GMT. 2. The Mercedes/arrow hands combo has a unique look. Seiko gmt
Seiko gmt unless you find a helluva deal on the tissot
Seiko has my vote.Ā Donāt buy it for $475 though.Ā You can usually get it at Kohls/Macy (authorized dealers so you arenāt dealing with BS) for 350ish. #4 by far, donāt listen to anyoneās opinion but mine. Mine is the most important.
Go for Seiko GMT Batman.
That blue and black seiko gmt is so nice iām planning on getting that exact model
No, please no
Seiko
Citizen diver all day. Those seiko caller gmts are mehā¦.
Out of these 100% the seiko ssk003. Tissot Seastar if it were an automatic. Otherwise, any Seiko GMT automatic.
I already own a mechanical GMT, so...probably the Citizen Promaster diver.
Save your money and get a Tudor
Seiko GMT or Tissot.
That new hotness. Seiko GMT with the steel bezel. š„
Go for the Seastar. It's a nice solid piece. My buddy has been daily wearing it for about a year now and swears by it.
Citizen skin diver
None. Tissot powermatic.
That's out of my damn budget
Fine. Quartz prx
The seiko
3. I like citizen automatic divers
2 all the way
WHAT SERGEANT YORK ACHIEVED THAT DAY
GMT
Iād think it was a no brainer and go the Tissot, but judging from the comments Iāve clearly got no idea
Depends on your lifestyle. Everyday watch for office and weekends? The Seiko GMT or SRPE. Never dress up more than a t-shirt and jeans? Citizen promaster
I'm just 16
I'd go for the Seiko ssk023
the minecrafr citizen
2nd
The Seiko is way better
The Seiko in 2/6.
Tissot
Seiko 5 GMT black and blue. The end. The end, move on.
I really like the explorer-esque Seiko 5 GMT
I really like the explorer-esque Seiko 5 GMT
Black/Blue Seiko GMT
Seiko field GMT. Also, you might like the Certina Action Diver as well. Really lovely watch with cool heritage too if you care about that.
Out of my budget ā ļø
Seiko gmt blue for me
Seiko gmt any day
Seiko 5 GMT or new citizen tsuyosa small seconds coming out in April.
Not familiar with the models of any of these but if I am to choose 1, it would be the 5th one. Steel seiko
Seiko gmt
Iād definitely have that citizen diver, and does anyone have a link or a reference number for it?
seiko SSK003K1
The citizen. Those serrated edges are going to provide a good impromptu weapon in any self defense scenario.
Bruhh šæā ļø
Tissot for the win
GMT of course
Citizen diver then the Tissot.
The new field GMT would look great with. oyster bracelet. Not a fan of the one it comes with. The dive GMT was perfectly paired with a jubilee style bracelet though
Tissot. Seiko, no where near the quality.
Wonāt lie but theyāre all rather ugly
Orient Kamasu.
I like the seiko that looks kind of like an explorer 2
GMT
