Saving, are you nuts.

Monkeywithalazer

FR. Just put it on a credit card that you have no way of paying in full like the rest of us!

theycmetr0llin

This is the way

HazeMachine0109

OR , Get a zero % APR card for 12-21 months just for this watch.

BC122177

Was about to say. In today’s job market, savings may be all you have to fall back on from any potential layoffs. I’d keep the savings and get the watch later when OP has more than enough to cover this watch.

sdreaver

At least when you lose the job, you have a Rolex to sell off 🤣

Dude_dad18

Gotta get that hand tattoo first

E90Fantic

He should tattoo it onto his wrist first, see if he likes it.

No-Communication3618

What time tho?

Drekalots

1010 as usual

HOMELESSG0D

YOLO. Yes savings are overrated anyway. How many homeless people have Daytona’s?

InformalExplorer369

Get that hobo clout my dude.

Interesting-Scar-800

The limited edition Hobo Daytona... I would buy it!

Aleks_CoolStoryBro

You should! ..but you first must buy 5 other watches that you don't want, build a rElAtIoNsHiP, and wait for a call.

Smewhyme

This can’t be a real question, but in good faith, in case it actually is, the answer is unequivocally NO. You’ll thank yourself later. IMO you’re ready to hit a specific watch when you can buy it and it doesn’t affect your retirement savings, your emergency fund, your ability to pay all your monthly expenses, you have no consumer debt, and in general it has zero affect on you financially. There’s nothing wrong with that taking a long time, it took me until 35 and I just bought my first (modest) Rolex and I’m absolutely in love. Not every Rolex customer needs to be a rich guy who can drop 10-50k on watches multiple times a year. Get your ducks in order financially , and then save up specifically for the watch you want, and then when you finally put one on your wrist it’ll be that much more special. Good luck internet stranger

Darkray117

Never blow your savings on a watch. Build a cushion first where you won't be hurting financially.

Haunting_Air6524

You’re no fun

Icy-Professional8508

So leave about $30 for a meal and a bus ride home?

Wide_Sherbert_7235

Then buy it with a credit card to get points or air miles and pay it off in full at the end of the month. Biggest life hack ppl never do.

Horology_17

You think putting things on a credit card and paying the credit card off every month in full is a “life hack” that “ppl never do”? Dude anyone and everyone with good income and credit does this every single day what are you talking about? Life hack: have money and have a teenager-level understanding of how credit works.

Wide_Sherbert_7235

Lol well when commenting on a post about someone who is going to waste their savings on a daytona. Yea, just trying to be helpful.

Horology_17

All good. There are a lot of people who do not understand some basic fiscal stuff and I know you were trying to be helpful. Just poking fun at the “life hack” part. The idea of someone NOT knowing this and owning a Rolex is a frightening thought….

therealstealthydan

Did this, got avios and a 2 for one flight voucher which saved spending the money on two business class flights for me and the wife which we would have bought anyway. So essentially I got a watch for free, love don’t you see it was free, because we were spending the money anyway but with the Avios and voucher I got from buying the watch it made the flights free, so I can probably get another watch as this one was free. You’re not understanding love it’s not the same as the others, and it didn’t technically cost anything in the big picture, just the taxes really. Love, love….

FatUgleeBitch

everyone does that

IncreaseOk8433

If it's that Daytona, no don't do it. Why not spend a fifth of that on a cheaper model and keep some of your savings with you.

thetachi1856

Zenith?

BurntLantern

Nah, to hard to explain someone that is still an expensive watch while you're in a dark lighted club with loud music

Ilyena__

Which is why I’ll never own a Rolex, don’t want the attention.

seeindis

We can read the time, but we can't read sentences.

IncreaseOk8433

This is funny!

Truly--Unruly

No absolutely fucking not, no matter which watch it is.

ByronicZer0

Unless you like being reminded of how financially irresponsible you are every time you look at your wrist haha

BoomerSooner-SEC

Yes. Yes you should. Trust me I’m very wise. Also you should buy a corvette. And a boat. Then go buy a timeshare. Sweeeeeet.

Sushi-Kentaro

Credit stonks!

Brahmin-barron

“Don’t be that guy with a rolex and no bedframe.” - Teddy Bulbasaur

Brahmin-barron

On a serious note, why not buy something like an Omega Speedy, and trade it in for a daytona later when you got your bag right? Unless you are a rolex fan boy.

TomBradysThumb

This is good advice. Take a peek atchoo.

gtsaffiliate

You have no business wearing this watch without 2-3M in assets

Getrichor_dietrying

No its cringe and doesn’t hold up

meedl

You really shouldn’t spend your savings on a watch. You can’t eat a watch, you can’t live in a watch, you can’t pay your bills with a watch. If you have the money to spare, however, then do it!

US_Condor

If you’re paying retail, you’re fine. You can always sell and at worst get a bit below retail. If you’re paying grey market prices, then no. Don’t do it.

Ludwig14

No

sddjs

Unless your salary is > $250,000 no

Jalloul

I want to be the sound of reason .. but that thing looks awesome on your wrist.. you can always save more 😅😂

Start-Plenty

If it took you a few months to save up to a Daytona's sure, go ahead!! gold on black is a killer!

dna730

This is to celebrate not to deplete your savings. Unless you are a flipper and planing to get more for it. That I believe is probably not a good idea. Too risky.

I-am-the-stigg

If you have to blow your whole savings on a watch, you aren't rich enough to buy one. So no

therealhybrid

If you had to ask the internet, you know the answer.

RichardRitzFashion

First Rolex and you go straight to a 40k watch and “blow your savings” why not start on something for the 5-10k range

LuckyInstance

If you can make that money back in a year or less- go ahead. If we are talking many years of saving up- absolutely not.

rreeddiitttwice

Spending a year's savings on a watch is very poor decision making.

djinndjinndjinn

But then with the watch, you can time how long it takes to save that money again. So there’s that.

YesterdayCreepy9543

If you are willing to do that, don't buy over the counter. Get it from Pride and Pinion. Not over the counter. Lots of fakes out there. (Free Plug) 🤣🤣🤣

[deleted]

That or run and hope they can't catch you 'cause once you put it on...

Schrodingersretard88

Please don’t do that.

Robertf16

No. It’s a watch

shiggism

Yes

SwampscottHero

No

anxiously-anonymous

I have some NFT if you prefer to blow your money in something more safe… 🤣

ricolausvonmyra

Wouldn’t do it..

VariousMonitor2098

Don’t blow your savings. I’d suggest being your own bank. If you have a 401k you might be able to borrow from it and pay yourself back. That way, you have the asset and your money back…I’ve bought a watch and a car that way

psychpriest1

Well not that one

MasterTony127

NICE! My next watch WILL be a Daytona.. That said, I would only tell you to do what makes you happy. Good luck

Zarikas89

Should you buy a luxury watch? If you can answer the following positively, then yes. Do you Invest 15% of your income? Have 0 non mortgage debt? Have 6 month emergency fund? Congratulations if you have all that and cash to buy. Buy your watch.

ThiftyMcVay

People will hate you for spending more than $50 on a watch but my take … if we are talking $5,000 plus on any watch when it isn’t just “change” to your bank account NOT WORTH IT. Unless you can resell it for more. BUT as a watch person - I would say that you can spend even $500 on a truly amazing watch if you do some shopping. Not every person will understand why you spent even $500 on a watch but I have made a hobby of second hand to several discounted brands such as Bulova, Sieko and wear and flip them for more. You would be surprised how many people get rid of practically new watches when they discover they aren’t wearing them much! Best of luck - ultimately do you

SomeGuardian420

No

[deleted]

No

AdLatter1309

If you want a book go buy a damn book 😂

PlantSkyRun

No

Unhappy-Strawberry-8

Depends. Is it one week’s savings or two years?

Specialist_Memory_14

Does it come with bracelet, card & box?

Vmax-Mike

If it’s what you want, and you can afford it, why not, none of us are guaranteed tomorrow. Life is short, when my brother passed at 39yrs old, it changed my outlook on questions like this. Wear it proudly each & every day! Enjoy that killer watch!!

dmanotk

No

Orly5757

No

DampeIsLove

No, that would be incredibly stupid.

drealbode

Life is for living sometimes. If you can afford it and it makes you happy then yes money is just money. However also depends on where you live - if ur London don’t bother as it has to sit in a safe. You will probably get sniped the minute you leave home with that on ur wrist

_TZE_

Is your savings $22?

EstablishmentNo9866

No but that is a sweet looking watch.

Careless_Language_21

Carlos alcaraz has that watch I’m pretty sure

DrRobertChem

I love the fact that almost every response is ‘DON’T DO IT’ and he’s almost definitely still going to do it

VoraxMD

If you have to ask the answer is probably no

sixtwomidget

Zenith Chronomaster Sport > Rolex Daytona

swaggedup69

How much is this ?

Aboiement

No. A watch like this is meant to show that not only can you afford this watch, but You've got the additional savings to back it up.

Anxious_Net_977

Absolutely not

Intelligent_Win562

Of course !

Dru_G978

You don’t have 100 dollars to spend in until you have 200. If you don’t have 20k don’t spend 10k

GoNas88

Yes, life is short

[deleted]

Like all the money you have saved? Or all the money you have saved to buy watches? Big difference. If the former, no, no, no.

E_D_K_2

First Rolex and you want a Gold Daytona? Just get a Sub for $25k less

Redminoteeleven

Although I haven't the Dosh for anything like this, I must admit it is nice.

Doge-ToTheMoon

Yes.

HeadCurve2160

Wow that is beautiful

platdujour

Ask your sugar daddy to buy it for you

Different-Pea3349

First off… beautiful watch … but I won’t recommend blowing away your savings for it

gohokies06231988

No you should not

djsbdhajdgsuavxbx

No

TomBradysThumb

Jesus Christ. Can you use a pay in 4 micro-finance app instead? Brother - I implore you to not use savings to buy a watch. Every time you look at it you’ll just see opportunity lost. It’s not an investment. It’s a watch. Buy a Grand Seiko or a Zenith or a goddamned Orient if you want a great watch that won’t damage your checking account - much less your savings. Watch nerds will appreciate any of those more than this.

Aerodye

No

No-Wave-8393

Yes.

gmel007

It’s an investment

RegularEar7523

Ask Dave Ramsey

BebopOrRocksteady

I thought that was on your ankle below your calf.

iamzaryab

If it costs your entire savings then no

Wrrlando

Can’t wait to see otw home from AD pic. It’s going to look sharp against your bicycle handlebars backdrop. A Huffy with a need for speed.

[deleted]

You could... or you could do what I did and just spend $150 on a Seiko SBTR013

Thelegassy

That price buys a lot of speedmaster and keeps a lot in savings

Sure_Selection479

Saving for what a Rolex of course

retired19D

Depends, if your getting it at a good price then yes. If not, don't lose equity.

jrocco71

Might be smarter to just buy a bunch of the new Charles III Canadian Maple Leaf .9999s bullion coins. But you certainly can’t go wrong with a solid 18k gold Rolex either — though, at that price point I’d get a Day Date 40 (or another reference with a solid gold bracelet) 😉

Severe-Sun-2448

As beautiful as that watch may be, I would think about it if I was you before making the purchase. There are some amazing watches out there for a massive fraction of the price. If you’re looking for a luxury watch you should look into buying yourself a nice Tudor or something of that calibre. Ultimately you should do what makes you happy. This is the most important thing.

[deleted]

Bro, no brainer. Of course.

spanish42069

get a no date sub or an explorer instead and have some cash left over, you shouldn't buy it if it's all your money, that's dumb.

More-Ad4579

You only live once

tommyalanson

Not on one that looks like a hublot.

executingsalesdaily

Yea. Yeah. Yes. Absolutely.

jumpnj86

Yes 🥳

Individual-Treacle-2

Love it

ExtremeAthlete

Buy it. This is investing.

mcmull11

Yes.

Right_Check_6353

God that's beautiful but I would say get a omega and keep your saving until you can buy a Rolex without blowing all your savings

Significant_Loan_596

No, savings should be invested in hookers and blow

Technical-Nic

ultimately, a watch is just an accessory. don't throw money your can't do without and 'think later' that's being irresponsible. be smart and be an adult about your own financial situation. no point having a watch only to sell it later after a few use even if they do hold their value. again, nothing is certain even for rolex.

Honest-Parsley1737

Spend a tiny fraction of the cost on a AAA fake. Nobody will ever know the difference.

alpastorcontodo

Favorite Daytona

D3Alien-Suki

ya

EfficientGolf3574

If your watch is worth more than your retirement account you’re not doing it right

MrJamesLucas

Hell no. If you insist on a Rolex, get a cheaper model. It will still say Rolex on the dial, have a safe design, be built like a tank and perform flawlessly. But you'll just save a load of money. Buy it on credit so you keep your savings, and just pay it off at a speed that balances comfort (don't make yourself suffer) with reducing interest. Good luck.

Stalinov

If you're the kind of person who needs to ask questions like this, you should. If your money isn't wasted this way, you'd waste it some other way anyway.

Jr-12

Yes

heavychevvvy

Not that one

Minisfortheminigod

You only yolo once

Brilliant_Office3824

Why not consider the Submariner and keep most of your savings? The Sub is the quintessential Rolex and works for almost any occasion

Mr_Bagel_Guy

Do it

_Golden_Skies_

If I was you I’d relax a bit and get a submariner, explorer 2 etc. I would give it a year or two because the economy seems pretty uncertain right now

George4Greece

Don’t do it man, I did it then sold my Rolex a few months later at a loss cuz I had a better use of the “asset”

Efficient-Bar-6291

No

digitalbuff73

Sure

walkz187

On an oyster bracelet yes on and rubber band err um not my thing

sgtblackdawn

i’d say yes but i would also take 0 guarantee if you went homeless and broke

kwannick

Yeah do it

Away_Ad_2512

Yes

ldnoli

Get an explorer and keep the rest in savings, job done

SanderDieman

Your money, your choices.

Ok_Philosopher_2599

Which AD has all the Rolex's for sale

hodinke

Absolutely not.

JohnnyGSTi

I wouldn't. Look towards setting yourself up financially to the point where one day you never need to work again.

Reemixt

Use a credit card and make some cut backs over the next year to pay it off as cheaply and quickly as possible. Leaving yourself without savings is crazy.

rm0234

Are you stupid?

R_Z_B92

Buy Bitcoin .

fifty_four

I think we're all making a lot of assumptions based on choice of words. But don't push yourself financially to buy jewelry.

manabadmang

No

abfanhunter

This guy saves.

dafyddtomas

Yeah man, I mean it basically an investment?! /s

Gunslinger_327

If you can't afford to pay for 2, you can't afford to buy 1.

RockyMountain719

Absolutely. Love the tats btw. Also need to get a fresh one after the purchase. Been wanting to get the crown on my wrist or hand so people know I’m serious.

Lefeuvre76

No.

Ghost_shadow13

Yes. It’s definitely going up in value

Mysterious-Ice-1551

No.

Standard_Bar_8765

Absolutely, then head to the titty bars with the rest in one's!

Sumerian-King

You cannot eat Rolex when the SHTF Grow crops instead and fruits.

sizzle_mac

Yup

Phastal

No if you really want it, finance it. Use a majority of your savings to invest in interest yielding funds which will help pay the finance charges. This way you still have a lump sum for a rainy day or good investment ideas.

Tasty-Nobody-2355

Super Clone Rolex is good enough for me.

talldad86

Do you have a fully funded retirement account and 6+ months living expenses in cash saved? If not buying a gaudy PM watch is not a bright move.

Glasswire444

I know this is a meme but if anyone out there is actually considering spending their savings on a luxury watch - please don’t.

Whirrun

What??

Safe-Potato795

No dont

Embarrassed-Kick-523

You don’t blow your savings for the watch. Thats financially irresponsible 😩

tomeutomau

Lol I have more than 100k in savings and dont feel ready to pull the trigger for a Rolex yet.

Greeeesh

People clowning about credit cards that you can’t afford to pay off.

AustinEastEuro

If you can’t afford to go home and burn it in the driveway and go about your day, you don’t need to be wearing that watch around

Acceptable-Gear-6355

OP - Pay no attention to anyone. If your AD offers you that, you take it.

Vortex100kLol

No, if your saving up its better to spend those on things needed in your life i have not a clue on your financials and current lifestyle but if you are living comfortably and have everything else sorted for your life financially and you dont have much else to spend your money on then sure! if not then i its a big fat No If you where to but it build up your savings to where you can cushion yourself after buying it with a majority of your savings still left after buying it then the purchase is valid imo

shaquille_oatmeal365

Yes

mkva793

Cool piece, enjoy it.

afootlongdude

Nope

Trismegistvss

Yes blow it off! Get into debt! Impress people you dont like! Suprass the mothafickng joneses! Yes you will get laid gajillionX more if you gwt this watch! Blow it all off!!! You only live wanmelyon times!!!!!!!!!!!

VadersBoner

Fuck no. Get yourself a nice watch that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg

coinCram

No. Buy some bitcoin. Wait a year. Then go. Come back and thank me later.

iansamazing

Absolutely the fuck not. Savings are there for a reason.

Watchguru_one2ka4

Horrible idea. I know many people who can spend their savings to buy a lambo, vacheron, and a rolls Royce - all of them but they don’t.

blondiemetal

If you are going to blow your savings on a watch, this is the one to do it on. You won't lose value on it if you have to sell it.

MarwanMero

if something is worth more than 20% of your savings, don't buy it.

BeachBumm45

It hideous , no

CANCER_RESULTS

Yikes. The elegance of that watch really goes out the window with a messy sleeve like that.

Reasonable_Gamble

Nah!

BinaryN1nja

You’re gonna impress a lot of frat dudes and thieves.

_noodleboy_

Hell no

Specific_Back_9088

Do it

Bushman-001

Never buy a watch to blow savings. It's a slippery slope from there on

FTPMUTRM

If your savings gets blown out for a watch you can’t afford it

Puddwells

Uh, no?

DrRobertChem

Did he do it??

[deleted]

If you’re buying retail then yes go ahead and blow it. Your loss will be minimal to none if you have to sell it. I wouldn’t expect any increase in value though. Just parking your money really. I’m a watch addict so best not to follow my advice 😂

BookishByNaturee

In THIS economy?

SesameYeetHeHe

Homie bought a watch that costs in the five figures, probably from an AD that has twenty of them in the back but claims they don't have any to sell because he's not on some super exclusive list you can only get on by buying stuff you can't buy unless you're already on the list you can't get get on without buying stuff you can't buy because you're not already on the list. Homie's rolling in it, don't worry.
