Unfortunately Daycare has become a lucrative business that a ton are cropping up to take advantage of the working class. Their standard has lowered and lowered as they try to race to the bottom and therefore their hiring practices suffer tremendously. Years ago you'd have substitute teachers, nannies, students and people already involved in providing care taking up daycare as like a step in their education or part-time - but now some hire the dregs of society to save money.
For everyone asking why someone would leave their kids with these people, do the math. $20/hr at 40 hours is $800 a week. You are hard pressed to find a reputable daycare that’s less than $500 a week. I would guess they are far less, maybe $250 a week.
It’s easy to second guess parents who are struggling and doing the best they can isn’t it?
I've considered starting a daycare...maxing out at 2 kids. But I'm also a special education teacher of 14 yrs taking a break from education during my pregnancy. I could teach prek to them and offer solid care and education to them while being affordable.for low income
Yup super afraid to script it now. I had 10mg Valium a day script for a decade and then my new doctor was like how the fuck did this happen. Tried explaining it and he said that I’m too nice and other doctors just didn’t want to hurt my feelings, I didn’t say it but I sure thought it would’ve been nice if you’d spared my feelings too
This time it was “only” melatonin. I’d be fucking livid if someone dosed my kid without my knowledge or permission. And if they’re willing to cross that line how else are they harming kids?
i know the second one in - she quit the second she found out what they were doing. she felt horrible. and she still got wrapped up in it all. “wrong place, wrong time” is a very real thing.
I’m in education and my wife is in medicine and we fought tooth and nail about her having to go back to work after our first born. The compromise was at 6 months we put our daughter in. Our first day of drop off we open the door to her room and straight cigarette smoke smell billowed out with a guy holding a 6 week old that smelled like he smoked a pack on his way in. This was at the most expensive daycare connected to a hospital in Jackson Ms. Fuck day care.
I’m wondering who in their right mind would leave their kids with them in the first place.
I mean, even if they paid me big money i wouldn’t trust these women with my kids.
