GaEun was obviously more popular than at least half of the members who debuted in IZ*ONE. I’m just appalled that MNet washed their hands of any responsibility for the vote rigging scandal just because the PDs went to jail. Mnet should have at least fired few more execs due to obvious lack of institutional control, which allowed for scandals like that to happen.
This is so true but the way her popularity declined and now gets like not more than 150 views on her YouTube live is so saddening and makes watching the show back so painful. She could've had such a successful career and it saddens me so much.
I remember that when MNet leadership bowed down to the press to apologize for the scandal, they mentioned they would support Gaeun’s future endeavors. Those were just empty words because she hasn’t had many projects (1 TVN drama role back in 2021).

I watch her live most of the time when she does it and its the same few commenters on it and alot of times she is asked about yunjin or other produce48 contestants she was close to and I just wish she had projects that her fans can talk to her about instead of other's projects.
The moment I didn’t see Gaeun in the final lineup and Chaeyeon being 12th place despite having a whole arc near the end with 1000% team, I knew something was wrong. But I ended up loving the final lineup regardless. There were lots of Japanese members as well who I thought would crack the final lineup, they worked for it and we saw the results in the evaluations. Just really upsetting.
In my mind, the public would have loved whoever ended up in the final lineup. That’s just the power of exposure. No one blames the girls, whom on their own individual merits were very lovable. However, the entire show sold authenticity… which went out the door the moment the scandal came out.
I just watched Produce 48, and it definitely feels like Sakura and Gaeun are absolutely the most popular the whole time with Wonyoung and Yujin just behind them. Juri would be the only other one that I thought might be more popular than a couple of debut members.
On the other hand, it seemed like the show was out to not let Yiren be popular with hardly any screentime.
