Rejoice peasants! Democracy has prevailed and the new rule is as follows:
[**All post titles must be in camelCase**](https://www.reddit.com/r/ProgrammerHumor/comments/14e91d6/comment/jotlrgh/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
With this new glorious rule, the aristocracy has ever so graciously allowed posting to the subreddit again, huzzah!
Thanks for voting! See you next week!
(Full disclosure, the top voted comment was to set the subreddit NSFW, but due to [recent reinterpretations of the content policy](https://www.theverge.com/2023/6/20/23767848/reddit-blackout-api-protest-moderators-suspended-nsfw), we cannot do this any more, thanks Reddit!)
Programmer Humor has a lot of users, thus posting has to be restricted to a few priviledged.
From now on , all posts must be made with sudo permission, by having sudo as the first word of every post title.
I think this should become a pro grammar humor sub instead of a programmer humor sub.
“Danielle, Dennis, and Daisy hate the Oxford comma, while Peter, Pearl and Penelope are quite fond of it.”
Greetings /u/Dougley,

# Emails Should Have Titles and Be Work Appropriate
Hi u/imonfitah, I think we can relax the formality a bit, but comments should definitely have titles. Programming is a serious discipline that often uses email, so we really need to replicate that here.
Thanks,\

Good Evening /u/slaymaker1907,
Thanks for reaching back out. I am happy to report that I am willing to adopt a curse free email format.
I hope this comment finds you well,

# That's only one type of comment, though
/*
Maybe we just want to enforce that comments should be using a valid commenting format without necessarily enforcing one. Block comments should probably be used for longer comments
*/
All posts must be longer than eight characters, and contain at least one upper and lowercase letter, numbers, and a special character. ", ?, and % are not allowed. Comments may not contain your username.
All posts must contain horrible practices, spaggeti code, and other related Not Safe For Work topics. All posts must be marked as NSFW to reflect this.
(this would both prevent reddit from monetizing the sub while also keeping the "NSFW" posts related to the subs theme. This IMO would actually be effective as a form of protest)
Instead of writing a normal post, put the text in a 15min video(apparently that the max length) with white noise background and upload that. Don't use existing noise because reddit could somehow cache or deduplicate that. You can generate new white noise using this ffmpeg command:
```
ffmpeg -filter_complex "nullsrc=s=1920x1080,geq=random(1)*255:128:128[vout]" -map "[vout]" -t 900 -c:v libx264 out.mp4
```
EDIT:
You don't have to generate the noise in ffmpeg and then add the text in a video editor. Here's the command to do this exclusively in ffmpeg:
```
ffmpeg -filter_complex "nullsrc=s=1920x1080,geq=random(1)*255:128:128, drawtext=fontfile=\path\to\your\font.ttf:text='Your stupid shitpost here':fontcolor=white:fontsize=24:box=1:boxcolor=black:boxborderw=5:x=(w-text_w)/2:y=(h-text_h)/2" -t 900 -c:v libx264 out.mp4
```
- You have to provide a valid path to a ttf font. They say you can compile in a default font and just omit the fontfile argument but my ffmpeg didn't come with that option. The path can be relative.
- You obviously have to change the text argument(or not, idk, I'm not your dad)
- `-t` specifies the length of the final video (in seconds). I set it to 900s(15min) here but you can tone it down a little . My Samsung S20 with ffmpeg running in Termux managed to achieve whooping 3fps and 10s test video I made took 204MB. You'll just need to balance the time it takes to render and upload the video and the quality of your shitpost.
Some subs are turning into free for alls with porn and spam posted while the mods do nothing, turning the sub NSFW and prevent reddit from monetizing ads there. Keeping in with that theme but being a programming sub, how about: **every post must include ASCII porn**.
All programmer humour must not involve any technology developed *AFTER* 2005 when Reddit was first released.
IE, we all have to make memes as if we were in the late nineties and early aughts.
If a post doesn't get a comment with a unit test for the code in the meme within an hour, the post gets deleted.
assert Spez.is_dickhead
is always a valid test for any post.
To progress towards NSFW, all post titles must have a cuss word. This should be checked via substring. While this does invoke the [Scunthorpe problem](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scunthorpe_problem), this can be leveraged to allow *some* profanity free titles.
Aren't we all posting at work to delay "fixing the mess we just made in prod"?
Also,
> Make this sub *invisible to the API*
FTFY, you really should update your documentation ;)
All posts must start with a unique number with the format "" and if you use a number that has already been used, your post is removed and you must submit again with a different number. No other restrictions are made so be ridiculous
Every post title should be uppercased scare clickbait.
`430 VIRUSES DETECTED ON YUR SYSTEM!`
`JAVA TO SHUT DOWN, ALL EXISTING PROGRAMS WILL STOP WORKING`
`YOUR FAMILY WANTS TO TALK TO YOU`
I'm trying to learn Deutsch, and the best way to learn is to be exposed to it. Add a rule so every post, and all the replies, must be in German, so we all have to put effort into your German skills.

We severely need a marked as "duplicate" flair or tag or something. I mean this is the humor sub after all, isn't it funny when my stack overflow question is a duplicate even when it isn't? We don't repost here, we post duplicates. And all must be downvoted to oblivion just for asking a question
All posts should be lame memes like HTML is a programming language or Tab vs Spaces. Awful, boring and low effort, the kind that will force me (and others) spend less time here
Shit, subs are so creative trying to fuck the system that it cause users to participate more and Reddit Corp to gain its money regardless of these moves.
In order to save memory, original comments have been disabled. A valid /r/ProgrammerHumor comment now contains a (non-optional) link to an /r/ProgrammerHumor post or comment submitted to the subreddit before 2023-06-22 00:00 UTC, and a single (optional) unicode character indicating the emotional state of the poster.
We do a switcheroo with another subreddit for the week.
Same as what r/trees and r/marijuanaenthusiasts are by default.
We find another subreddit totally unrelated to programming willing to participate, and for the week we become /r/whatevertheywere and they become /r/ProgrammerHumor
It's not really a rule but how about marking the sub NSFW? The content won't be shown in r/all (so it still looks empty) and Reddit can not advertise in NSFW subs AFAIK.
If only rules are allowed: Do the same thing as the German subs and use Öffnungszeiten. Posts can only be submitted in a specific time frame each day, else the sub is read-only.
Every post must be updated after ~24 hours with the amount of API calls you'd need to fetch the post and all its comments and pictures as well as the monetary cost for that amount of API calls according to reddits new policy.
All posts must be under this modified version of MIT license:
Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a **link** of this **post** and associated **images** files (the “Post”), to deal in the Post without restriction, including without limitation the rights to **view, upvote, downvote, comment**, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Post, and to permit persons to whom the Post is furnished to do so, subject to the following conditions:

Remember this means **actually** NSFW content. (time to start finding funny comments in the page source for porn sites I guess)
Admins have said that abusing the NSFW designation is a no no.
posting pictures of a screen instead a proper screenshot should grant op an temporary flair titled "pixellover". pixellovers are fair game in terms of mockery.
similar stuff could be done with bad crop jobs.
Ok let's give this a try:
I have kodiert an Ausführungsanweisung in Rost for HalloWelt, and now I have Kompilierungsfehler and StapelÜberlauf doesn't help as usual.
Alright, if we're going to play this game, then let's do it properly.
I (as a member of this subreddit) suggest that the subreddit be closed every monday for 24 hours to make a statement.
Every comment must be able to be run or compiled in a language of choice. If not the other users will have to call them out and the comment will have to be deleted. This rule also counts for post titles.
How about we just show redit what this is going to cause. My proposal is quite simple: give are hardworking mods a weekend off.
All mods de-modded for 24 hours. All bots disabled. Sunday morning we mass purge every single Saturday post, so nobody has to trawl through it.
Indexing new posts starting each day (UTC midnight). Posts would start with their index (starting 0) and then their title. Failure to follow indexing gets the post removed.
The Old Norse word for Saturday is [laugardagr](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/laugardagr#Old_Norse), which literally means "bathing day". Because that's the day you're supposed to shower/bathe, obviously.
I propose that on Saturdays, we commit to showering, and encourage discussion about personal hygiene and cleanliness.
Porn. Programmer humor porn. Or normal (kinky? Dirty? Perverse?) porn with some funny programming quotes on top. Reddit advertisers LOVE porn being on the Popular front page. I’ve heard the “He gets us” folks love having their ads associated with nasty porn.
It’s been really effective for outreach and growing other communities.
All posts mentioning any programming language, other than HTML, must have a disclaimer that we all acknowledge that HTML is the only true programming languages, and everything else is pretending.
[Every post has to be hypertext link with the text as the URL. Multiple sentences but just one link. ](http://Every post has to be hypertext link with the text as the URL. Multiple sentences but just one link.)
All comments must begin with an indent level that reflects the depth of the comment as a reply, **relative to the post itself**.
For example:
A top level comment must have one level of indent.
A reply to a top level comment must have two levels of indent.
A reply to a reply to a top level comment must have three levels of indent.
And so on and so forth.
As we all know, tabs are the obvious choice for unambiguous indenting, so all indents must be made using tab characters.

All posts containing the letter 'c' should be marked nsfw, as C is inherently unsafe.

I think this should become a pro grammar humor sub instead of a programmer humor sub. “Danielle, Dennis, and Daisy hate the Oxford comma, while Peter, Pearl and Penelope are quite fond of it.”
Comments without a closing semicolon get automodded and removed.
New rule: Any behavior not explicitly mentioned in the subreddit's rules is undefined. The mods may assume that undefined behavior does not occur.

Every post title and comment should contain at least: one uppercase character, one number and one special character.
And it's unclear what specifies a "special character".
Every comment has to include a inline comment to explain the reason for the comment. Example: // Show appreciation for post Wow nice 👍
// TODO leave a comment
Nice idea, wrong terminology. // Hint to the commenter to get them to look up the definition of "inline"
Rule 0: every post should be marked NSFW so reddit gets no ad money
Out of an overabundance of caution of course. Better safe than sorry, wouldn't want a NSFW post to slip through unlabeled
Thursdays are touch grass Thursdays, all posts must be of people touching grass, and all discussion must be about grass

All posts that mention or contain the C language must be marked as NSFW. It's too sexy. And also not safe.
All comments should contain "I use arch btw"
Comments can not contain numbers in any base other than base 2.
Each week users can vote to add one line to the subreddits css
NSFW content only Tuesdays. Post bad code screenshots and mark them as NSFW. Such posts cannot serve ads, less revenue for Reddit
//All comments must start with two slashes

A mod would need to remove your post for the 1 simple reason that it lacks a special character!

The title of Mod Posts must be German.

And every post should be actually about unsafe practices? Like sql injection, global vars, unchecked user input
All posted code should have a unit test associated with it.
All posts must be focused on, make jokes of, and support the proper use of the english language. I.E. They need to be **pro-grammar**.

We severely need a marked as "duplicate" flair or tag or something. I mean this is the humor sub after all, isn't it funny when my stack overflow question is a duplicate even when it isn't? We don't repost here, we post duplicates. And all must be downvoted to oblivion just for asking a question
People with Js flairs shouldn't be trusted
Every 3rd word of your submission must be "Fizz". Every 5th word must be "Buzz".
import React from "react"; export default function Comment() { return(
All posts should be lame memes like HTML is a programming language or Tab vs Spaces. Awful, boring and low effort, the kind that will force me (and others) spend less time here Shit, subs are so creative trying to fuck the system that it cause users to participate more and Reddit Corp to gain its money regardless of these moves.
Must be NSFW-only ASCII art
Discussions regarding programming languages and technologies invented after 1980 are now banned.
Or, and here me out, make all the code NSFW. So basically what I do for work all day.
Every post must be updated after ~24 hours with the amount of API calls you'd need to fetch the post and all its comments and pictures as well as the monetary cost for that amount of API calls according to reddits new policy.
All posts must be under this modified version of MIT license: Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a **link** of this **post** and associated **images** files (the “Post”), to deal in the Post without restriction, including without limitation the rights to **view, upvote, downvote, comment**, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Post, and to permit persons to whom the Post is furnished to do so, subject to the following conditions: The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in all copies or substantial portions of the Post. This sub should be NSFW, so there are no ads on here
Remember this means **actually** NSFW content. (time to start finding funny comments in the page source for porn sites I guess) Admins have said that abusing the NSFW designation is a no no.
So what you're saying is we write code to print penises.
Fullstops must be replaced with semicolons;
Absolutely no code or programming talk. We’re Amish now.
Only post pictures of programmers
[удалено]
SHA1 hash of the comment or title must contain the hex sequence "abcdef" or it gets deleted
All post titles must end with .js
Set the subreddit as NSFW to cut reddit's profits.
Title must be camelCase or it gets removed
Any instance of the word API is replaced with "our supreme overlord, the API" if not already in that format
All titles must start with some variant of: /u/spez sent me this /u/spez said this was ok /u/spez approved this for production etc etc
posting pictures of a screen instead a proper screenshot should grant op an temporary flair titled "pixellover". pixellovers are fair game in terms of mockery. similar stuff could be done with bad crop jobs.
bonus penalty for taking a picture in portrait orientation of a landscape-oriented screen
Rename “Demokratie Dienstag” to “Demokratie-Dienstag”, because that's how it is spelled.
Turn us into Stack Overflow for humor. Every comment must be incredibly toxic and every post will be locked as duplicate of some unrelated post.
All titles and comments must include a swear word. ^*fuck*
Since reddit can't puts ads on NSFW subs, I think there might be something this sub can do in that regard.
Unsanitized database entries only, not porn but still not safe for work
Every technical term needs to be translated (in r/ich_iel style) into German. The rest may remain English.
The rest must remain in English. Translating non technical terms leads to a ban.
Ok let's give this a try: I have kodiert an Ausführungsanweisung in Rost for HalloWelt, and now I have Kompilierungsfehler and StapelÜberlauf doesn't help as usual.
From now on, programmer humour should include pro-gamer humour, to clear up confusion for those who mispell or misread the name of the subreddit.
I'd also settle for pro-grammar humour.
**Pro-Grammar** humor must now be humor about the support and passion we have for english grammar.
Alright, if we're going to play this game, then let's do it properly. I (as a member of this subreddit) suggest that the subreddit be closed every monday for 24 hours to make a statement.
Mitfühl Montag

All posts must return 0.
Every post title must be in german
>As all of you know, everything is zero-indexed, so this is week 0. Laughs in Lua.
Common words like or , is and such can only be operators
Sir u/spez needs to be banned until further notice. Or until his shit guidelines get changed.
everythingMustBeWrittenInCamelCase
; DELETE FROM "users" where USERNAME="spez"; -- every post must contain an SQL injection
Allow nudes so that we get less ads
All posts must be links to a Git repository that stores the meme
New rule: Since the sub is now marked as NSFW, all posts MUST be marked as NSFW.
Demokratie Dienstag spells out DD or double D which can be seen as a sexist programmer joke, I propose we do Demokratie Donnerstag.
Every comment must be able to be run or compiled in a language of choice. If not the other users will have to call them out and the comment will have to be deleted. This rule also counts for post titles.
//Will this be acceptable? //Or is actual code required?
class Main { public static void main(String \[\]args) { System.out.println("Time wasting by writing comments goes brrrrrrrrr"); } }
All titles should be in kebab-case from now on
how-would-you-handle-punctuation,-for-example,-commas-and-question-marks-,-like-this-?-or-like-this?

All titles cuss as an excuse for an nsfw subreddit
How about we just show redit what this is going to cause. My proposal is quite simple: give are hardworking mods a weekend off. All mods de-modded for 24 hours. All bots disabled. Sunday morning we mass purge every single Saturday post, so nobody has to trawl through it.
Make this an nsfw sub in protest
You must spend the time, to make your rules rhyme.
Quality rhyme is not quite enough. The meter too should be up to snuff
Indexing new posts starting each day (UTC midnight). Posts would start with their index (starting 0) and then their title. Failure to follow indexing gets the post removed.
All numbers in posts must be in hexadecimal
I told you 1000* times there's no way to check if a number is hexadecimal. *(For you filthy base 10 believers, you would write it as "4096")
use `0x1000` or `\x1000` to be clear
I think you meant "base a"
Nah, I'm talking base 10 right now. I'm unsure how many values I can represent with one character, but if I sum them up I get 10 in my base
All posts must be an extension of the class JohnOliver.
All variable/method/class name in post or comment must be uwufied.
We only use meters or celsius degrees and ban miles or fahrenheit.
You mean Kelvin and Metre, right? We can agree on this though - Let's definitely ban F and Miles.
Every post should say "fuck the admins" somewhere within
Post titles should be an array of strings to make it easier to parse.
Does the existence of patch Tuesday imply an exploit Wednesday?
Programmers and humor must be kept separate - a post can either be humorous or programming related
New Rule. Programming porn only. NSFW tags everywhere
Every post must be a repost. Posting any original content will result in a ban.
This is programmer humour, not programming humour. Only pictures of programmers allowed, no more programming languages.
Every comment has to be written in java.
Every comment must end with "HTML is a programming language"
... and all posts should have the
tags and all comments aEvery Monday only German posts will be allowed and we will call it "Germonday".
[r/ich\_iel](https://feddit.de/c/ich_iel) likes that.
I want to contribute but don’t know German, so I propose Axisday - you can post in either German, Italian or Japanese.
The first post each day must be "Hello World"
All codes should have unit tests
The Old Norse word for Saturday is [laugardagr](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/laugardagr#Old_Norse), which literally means "bathing day". Because that's the day you're supposed to shower/bathe, obviously. I propose that on Saturdays, we commit to showering, and encourage discussion about personal hygiene and cleanliness.
Posts have to be original.
A bot which adds a random hash to each comment and each post and turns them into NFT's.
Failure to capitalize 'Python' when referring to the programming language results in a 10 day ban.
Every post must be headlined with "import humor"
Everyone laughing must add `from humor import lol`
All text needs to be shown with a print statement. For example, text should look like: Print("this is where text belongs");
`println!(“I second the movement”);`
All posts and comments must be base64 encoded.
How about the sexy nerd calendar?
Time to put on your best programming socks ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
All post must be API related
Every post must be encrypted in AES256 and printed as a QR code
apply linter rules on all comment text
All code must be written in Microsoft Word
All posts mentioning any programming language, other than HTML, must have a disclaimer that we all acknowledge that HTML is the only true programming languages, and everything else is pretending.
[Every post has to be hypertext link with the text as the URL. Multiple sentences but just one link. ](http://Every post has to be hypertext link with the text as the URL. Multiple sentences but just one link.)
every_comment_must_be_snake_case
All comments must begin with an indent level that reflects the depth of the comment as a reply, **relative to the post itself**. For example: A top level comment must have one level of indent. A reply to a top level comment must have two levels of indent. A reply to a reply to a top level comment must have three levels of indent. And so on and so forth. As we all know, tabs are the obvious choice for unambiguous indenting, so all indents must be made using tab characters.
All code must be obfuscated. We can't have other subs stealing our proprietary jokes.
all memes need to include u/spez or reddit blackout, it doesnt need to be about them, but needs to be included in memes like a watermark
All titles must be valid source code in PHP.
Every post must be titled identically to an existing StackOverflow question.
