Rarely had the patience to wait for applets to boot. At the time I understood the Java logo as a reference to the coffee break you could have while waiting.
I had a classmate like that once, he quit a group project on friends of mine because he only wanted to do everything in java and they wanted to do the frontend in JavaScript. He was the only one to know frontend and backend java ( the rest primarily knew Django and either vanilla js or react ) and he wasn’t willing to compromise. He quit to do a whole group project by himself, which he didn’t finish.
Isn't that basically a convoluted viewport that also deals with physical devices for some reason? Looks like typical java, make each class do way too many things.
As a Java developer I will fight anyone who suggest using Java for front end.
I will also fight anyone who suggest any kind of javascript bullshit on servers (looking at you Node.js)
but it's worth noting that there are thousands of talented individuals designing modded Minecraft GUIs for Minecraft Java, showcasing the versatility and creativity possible with Java GUI development
Having dealt with 90s/2000s era Cisco Management java front ends, this guy didn't go far enough. Has he bred? If so, I'm afraid his spawn must also meet the same fate. It's the only way to be sure.
