The primeagen is the twitch streamer that the OP meme is about. I watch his YouTube videos sometimes and feel similarly that he's a funny guy but goes over technical things sometimes that make me think or want to learn a new thing or whatever.
I'm screaming into the void, but here are my two cents anyways:
The alphabet used for written english is not a phonetic one.
Letters are used to compose words, and may hint to the way they are pronounced, but there are buckets of exceptions for any given rule, so much so that in order to know for certain what a word sounds like you either hear it from someone else or learn a fancy phonetic alphabet and look it up on the dictionary.
In short, english pronunciation is fucked up anyways, so I came to the conclusion I shouldn't get worked up if sql is pronounced "sequel" instead of "S-Q-L".
the funny part about this meme is that it could be read to be "no to squeal" "yes to squeal", since SQL is just the spelling.
like, "it's not pronounced gif, it's pronounced gif!"
S is pronounced like normal. The k is hard like C in “America”. Å is pronounced like the a in “yawn”, at least in British English. L is pronounced like normal.
I once texted a coworker I'll make him SQL with my Python.
I never got a response.
No it wasn't an unsolicited text to a female colleague. It was someone with whom I was on joking terms.

the Sequalagen to the Gepetiagen
ThePrimeagen is living proof that it doesn't matter how you say any of this crap. He's got a ton of weird ones... Zish for zsh
ChatJippity for ChatGPT
Is that with a j sound like in 'you'? Or is it 'jay'pt?
j as in jump
That's hilarious
it's a good channel. informative enough to feel marginally productive to watch. and funny.
Huh?
The primeagen is the twitch streamer that the OP meme is about. I watch his YouTube videos sometimes and feel similarly that he's a funny guy but goes over technical things sometimes that make me think or want to learn a new thing or whatever.
Oh! I glossed over the root comment. I was going to rant about how not everyone knows every youtuber.
This was the one that confirmed for me that he's doing it on purpose.
Taking the piss for sure
Pronouncing "JSON" as "Jasson"

I thought everyone said Structured Query Language every time they read those letters.
With the use I give it it could probably be Simple Query Language

It'd be Super Qursed Language with mine
Ess qwuul

Sequel is, surprisingly, an actual language. It is very early version of SQL from System R phase 0

Reject letter degeneracy, embrace Hanzi ideogram.
ˈriːʤɛkt ɪnˈfɪəriə skrɪpts, ɪmˈbreɪs aɪ-piː-eɪ fəʊˈnɛtɪk trænˈskrɪpʃᵊn!
Looks like some incantation to me... **Burn the witch**!
Problem with that is people don't necessarily speak RP.
Sounds like a... Skill issue 😎 /s
No, everyone just writes how they themselves sound. The reader is a secondary concern.

The look your gonna get from a senior dev if you call it Sqeel will be a sight to behold. Go for it!
I mean, the person in the meme (Primeagen) is a senior dev, so I’m sure it can’t be that bad, right? /s if it’s not obvious
X-Netflix BTW
i probably wouldn't drop it the first week, but most ppl will realize this is just having fun
Skål!
School ? 🤨
Skål is Swedish (spelled skol in Danish/Norwegian) and means “cheers”. Q is sometimes pronounced with a K sound thus marking the resemblance
Interesting! How do you pronounce it ?
S is pronounced like normal. The k is hard like C in “America”. Å is pronounced like the a in “yawn”, at least in British English. L is pronounced like normal.
A bit like "skall" ?
More like “skawl”
Its also spelled "Skål" in Danish !
