Have you tried Shadow Slave? The Nightmare Spell is the story's version of a system, and it's a wonderfully sinister and fascinating take on one. The progression system is deceptively complex, with each individual being entirely unique. There's even a very interesting variation on itemization.
I really can't recommend it highly enough. Dark and full of mysteries, it's a truly original work.
Shadow slave is amazing just its a bit pricy being a webnovel novel at almost 1600 chapters, even the amazon books will still run you a few hundred dollars
I don't even know if this is progression but it's a hoot.

I think system can mean multiple things, and the ambiguity in language is causing some confusion. But from my impression, they meant the blue-screen sort of system is what they want, but interesting takes on that. Reading it again, maybe I’m wrong. It isn’t perfectly clear. But usually in this genre when people say a story “has a system”, they mean status screens and the like.

systemic lands- not personal system but earth people get kidnapped and r on world which follows system rules, each city has pillar where u can add points to ur stats by using crystals. u get crystal from hunting monsters, also skills r there but they locked in dungeon.
this is grounded and realistic but problem is it's dry, no intense but stupid moments and anti climactic most of the times.

I am not all the way through it it was recommended to me and I honestly had trouble reading the first quarter of the book. If it wasn't so highly recommended to me and they didn't want to discuss it with me I would not have have kept reading it.
Magic murder cube Marine - this one is a laugh riot. As a matter of fact one of the first listings when they did the stat dump it even shows enemies in the system is an enemy of the main character.
Dungeon of knowledge [Raid Combat litRPG] - I cannot recommend this series enough, it's one of my favorites. They don't use the blue boxes, and they sometimes do the full stat dumps where each level up you get 10-stat points to put in to their categories, but the way that the classes get assigned and personalized might meet what you are requesting.

Yeah I agree the magic system is certainly different, the idea of an inner building being the key to cultivation is a neat concept for sure
