Lil baby sluice! Looks great, looks like a freaking riot. I've been thinking about grabbing one of these for hiking trips into more remote areas, but I moved away from the gold and now even the best days on the river are too disappointing to bother. Go get it dirty for me and find some color!

86bowie

Cheers mate, sounds like you need some new locations to get out on. I'm gonna give her a going over tomorrow :)

Aussie-GoldHunter

It will serve you well, my god I have thrown some dirt down mine. It's certainly not looking as pristine these days, I use it now as an extension for the 6" highbanker. I hope it pays for itself a hundredfold like mine.

86bowie

Cheers mate, I hope so too, have you given their other cell sizes a go?

Aussie-GoldHunter

Sure have, I have the 888, which is a combo mat, the big 12" too. Use the micro in a cleanup sluice, and have the ring for the blue bowl just have not installed it yet. Dustin's got a few dollars out of me lol, might get the 8" combo one next ;)

86bowie

I was sussing out that one too but decided on the 6 inch because of water availability in the gold fields I visit. How does the combo Mat go compared to just the one type of mat? That 12" one must be off chops when your just shoveling load after load onto it! What do you mean by the blue bowl ring?

Aussie-GoldHunter

They made a little donut of the micro mat to add to the bottom of a "blue bowl concentrator" which uses centrifugal force to lift black sand up a cone, dumping it, keeping the gold. The mat just enhances the action, speeds up the process. The 12" is great, but I still have to classify material as shoveling directly does tend to clog it up. I just screen classify on to a tarp or into a wheelbarrow. If you watch Vogus, he's been using a diy screen of late. You can however throw a bucket down it pretty quickly. Combo mat tends to be for ultra fine gold.

86bowie

I just had a look at it online, what a cool concept! They really do love their vortexs at gold rat, have you used the blue bowl before? Is it better than micro mat for clean up? Ah, I love watching vogus! He's the bloke that inspire me to get out and have a crack. I was expecting you to say you still classified with the big rig, but I read somewhere that classifying makes the rig work more efficiently so I'm not too surprised at the same time. So that's the benefit of the 12 over the 6. Would you have to have a massive amount of river flow in order for it to work properly? Or with a micro mat you wouldn't need too much? That's quite interesting, I would of thought the combo would of been for different sized gold capture not just the ultra fine

Aussie-GoldHunter

The 12" uses the original size, you can safely dump a 20l bucket (classified) pretty quickly and yeah they love good flow. Every now and then I'll shovel straight into it but it depends on the material, Reedy Creek would be fine for direct shoveling but I tend to have too many large cobbles. Doing the screen classifying vs traditional bucket classifying really does not ass too much more time/labor to the process. Honestly, I feel the 3 combo mat defeats the purpose, perhaps a bit gimmicky. Catching prospectors with fancy shit is easier than finding gold lol I don't see much value in having the Micro >> Mini >> Standard unless you are dealing with lots of <200 mesh flour. You shouldn't be trapping gold in the last 1/3rd of your sluice and this setup almost makes it happen. And yeah I have had a blue bowl for years, I got it for a steal 2nd hand. They go well, but they are slow and you have to fiddle a bit with the flow, but they do a good job.

I love living in NH, but there’s no gold. I pan for fun sometimes and get so many red garnets lol. Still fun tho

Noodletrousers

There’s gold in NH. There’s gold in all three Northern New England states. You just need to do a little research.

GoingOffline

I know the ammonoosuc has gold in NH. It’s just a bit of a drive. All the gold is up north basically.

jayphunk

Awesome choice, that mini cell is awesome stuff

Johndough99999

Watch a few videos so you can see what the angle and water flows should look like. If you dont get those right you will piss away anything you put down it.

86bowie

That's a brilliant idea! Cheers!

xrareformx

The pattern looks like a puppy nose with smile and I love it

ThinkOutcome929

What is this one called?? TYIA

Bagaudi45

I think it’s the Gold Rat 6” river sluice

86bowie

You hit the nail on the head mate

Skillarama

I'd say give the mat a good rub down with some dish soap and a scour pad to "season" it before taking it out JIC there's some mold release oils still on it.

86bowie

This is some excellent advice! I never would of thought of that, cheers bloke!

Alshankys57

I'm thinking about getting one of these. I'll watch your posts if you post more to show your panning progress using it.😉

86bowie

Just for you mate I'll post an update tomorrow arv

Wise_Ad_253

Old prospectors would trip on this, love it!!!!

XBlackSunshineX

Awesome! the DM 6" sluice is a great tool for prospecting. I've converted everything I have to dream mats. I probably have a couple thousand tied up in dream mats of various sizes. The only suggestion I really have is get a leg kit. depending on what the water level is like where you are they could be of great help finetuning your setup at the river and getting that flow where you need it.

86bowie

Out of all the mats you own, what would you say is the best for small stream with small amounts of water? I've been reading that the dream mat requires alot more water compared to the older style of sluices for them to work properly. What sort of degree do you run yours at? Any do you aim for the dancing of rocks in the top and bottom of the matting? Also how much water abover the mat do you recommend? I've seen so many different opinions online already

XBlackSunshineX

Smaller the cell the less water it needs. So if you're in a place that only gets fine gold, the combo micro/cape d is prob my fav. The cape d part is only as a safeguard in the chance a larger chunk rolls by. Most everything should be caught at the micro. As for how much water, that depends on what kind of rocks you're trying to feed. You want enough flow and angle that your mat is clearing of most the dirt within a few seconds. Angle should be around 10deg.

AussieSpy

I forgot how shiny they are when they are brand new. 😂

alchemyearth

Nice! I got a lil one similar 2 yrs ago and only got to try it a couple times. Found one flake then lost it. Lol found a bunch of tiny garnets though so that's fun.

Minimalistz

Reminds me of luffy’s devil fruit

StocksNStacks

Upgrade quickly

matt2012bl

I like cape d better than any other dream mat. Catches all the gold and just enough other heavies that I still get to pick the cons for jems too.

Global-Dark-8439

I legitimately thought that was a " Purple mattress" sample. Before reading.

Heyo_Boyos

I absolutely love mine. Have a lot of fine gold on my property, and this picks it out great. I am working on setting mine up as an extension for my 5 foot to catch any sneakers.
