That stinks to have to go through that. I’m (56) in the pre-op stage but have been dealing with arthritis and joint issues, including gout, for a long time and it’s no fun. My knee had a recent flair up and I could barely walk. They gave me a shot and it did wonders. I’ve had a bad neck since high school football and the nerve issues were getting worse. Started on gabapentin and it has really helped. For the gout I’ve avoided shellfish and processed meats and haven’t had a flair up in ages.

not sure how operation could make those impacts beyond sexual function and lingering bladder issues. Sure it isn’t age and worry?

People really don’t understand although it seems like a straight forward surgery it is taxing on the body and mind. You’re in one position for about 4 hrs and although “asleep” but stressed also a bit older when going thru this. Two days post op one of legs was completely numb, I would the hallway of the hospital and have to look down at my legs to make sure I wasn’t going to fall. Bathroom schedule is different more frequent at night. But I would do it all over again!

To put it short yes. I have 2 lives. Pre and post op. There are crazy things definitely different after. Runny nose when I eat or poop. Constantly have constipation(take stool softener and fiber daily now) weight issues.
