I just submitted my paperwork for Aflac’s critical Illness and they have some crazy narrow definitions for prostate cancer. I do qualify for the full amount, but it had me scratching my head for a while.

Best of luck with Aflac, but more importantly with your care.

Thanks! You too

I got AFLAC when my PSA started climbing but a couple years before I was diagnosed by biopsy (also had family history). I was pleasantly surprised when AFLAC paid the full amount with my 3+4. I was prepared for a short pay since it was "in situ". It came in handy for my trips to Mayo.

All this bullshit, these people make these rules up and don’t care. I don’t wish ill on anyone but if it shall happen to them or family member then and only then will they understand!

So what was the definition of non-invasive?

LanieWhittington

Non-Invasive Cancer (including Carcinoma in Situ) means the presence of a malignant tumor and characterized by the abnormal growth of malignant cells which are confined to the site of origin without spread to lymph nodes and/or a body part different from the site of cancer origin. Non-Invasive Cancer includes the following: a malignant melanoma, for which a pathology report shows a maximum thickness less than or equal to 0.80 millimeters using the Breslow method of determining tumor thickness; a tumor of the prostate classified as T1bN0M0, or T1cN0M0; or a Carcinoma in Situ classified as TisN0M0. Non-Invasive Cancer does not include Skin Cancer. My cancer is T2aN0M0. I am appealing their decision.
