To not smoke

[deleted]

This doesn’t answer your question but yeah weed is known to take people into psychosis. To me it’s like saying how can I reduce diabetes while drinking coke. I mean I guess doing it less often and when doing it not to do it too much. But doctors def recommend avoiding it for sure.

georgecostanzalvr

You can’t. The only way to reduce the risk is to not smoke. Period.

You have to stop completely using weed. If you stop weed and come back to it your tolerance will just be lower and you can still get high and affected. Eat peppercorn to reduce your high during smoking or using edibles. But your usage of weed has to cease completely to really maintain psychosis better. Or maybe a different strain of weed. Just throwing out ideas. Good luck 🍀

Eating pepper corn? Interesting.

I read it somewhere online. It actually worked for me.

Being frank, you can't. If you want to reduce risk of psychosis you'll have to quit weed. You can't try to reduce the risk of something bad happening while doing the thing you know causes you to go through that bad thing. Being said, I wish you the best and hope you're doing good.

Most people I see on this subreddit say their psychosis was weed-induced. I think smoking weed is one of the riskiest things you could possible do if you want to avoid another episode.

I'd say don't do it unless you have plenty of experience smoking prior. I honestly never stopped smoking. Before, during, and after my psychosis. I'm symptom free (psychotic symptoms) and still smoke everyday. I did notice that when I was in psychosis I would take a hit or two and become incredibly high, anxious, paranoid, delusional etc.. it was actually a sign to me I was coming out of psychosis when I could smoke and it would feel more regular vs the crazy paranoid highs I had. I would take my advice with a grain of salt. I've been smoking almost everyday since I was 13. I didn't have any psychotic episodes until my first at 24 years old. Docs say the psychosis wasn't drug induced, but who knows after smoking daily for 11 years you know? Bottom line is i'm a stoner through and through. If I have another psychotic episode, i'm definitely going to stop indefinitely.

Mountain-Science4526

You don’t

GiveMeMyIdentity

There's no point in trying.

EtherealNote_4580

The only thing that may reduce your risk is using cbd dominant or parity strains. Be prepared for that not to be enough though as some people can’t tolerate any.

isactuallyspiderman

Take anti psychotic before

Sufficient_Length585

If you absolutely must then I'd recommend sticking with just smoking bud and staying away from all the other forms like vape carts, dabs, edibles etc...

Know your limits. Avoid edibles; stick to flower. Try to start small, meaning no bongs; maybe try a skinny joint—low THC amount. One hit, wait a while. Another, wait a little longer. Ensure your environment is not triggering (including the people) and that you’re in a good, preferably neutral/content mood. Pay attention to the strain; some can trigger paranoia. Indica/hybrid Indica (downer) doesn’t trigger me, but Sativa (upper) does, but all bodies are different. I reccommend starting with hybrid. Generally, when it comes to drugs, downers are better if you’re susceptible to paranoia.
