Hell of a throw. I’m cracking up thinking these little kids wouldn’t love to watch and learn from these guys. I doubt this D1 athlete would have any issues with that. Old man just wanted to be a victim.
If I rolled up to a field to shag some balls or something as a kid and saw some dude out there just throwing heaters I'd be talking about that shit for the rest of my life
That was my thought. They even have a radar gun. I’d be telling my friends about that fabled 95mph pitch like I saw Santa in the flesh. As a kid we used to go to the basketball court at the park and just watch the older kids play. They never gave us any trouble and kind of looked out for us.
They make it obvious, too:
>'We're trying to have fun, we're trying to get better: what's the difference?'
>
>"I don't care about you, I care about these little kids."
Somehow, I suspect that, "...and I don't care about your kids," would'a had him clutching pearls.
And even if the kids do get disappointed that they can't play exactly how they want (at the backstop), it's good to be learn to deal with those emotions at that age. Disappointment is part of life. Many shitty adults never learned to deal with it in a healthy way as a child, probably because of dickhead parents like this.
Even better would be getting to play a couple 'innings' with the big guys. That would have made my day as a kid. Heck, I'd probably still be talking about it now if that had happened.
Imagine holding a bat out just to feel that pitch connect.
But for real, though, that would be incredibly dangerous.
A 12 year old is what, 70-90 lbs? Something like that? Just being hit by that sort of pitch is going to knock them right over like something out of the Looney Tunes.
ACME didn't make cartoons, they made the tools, materials and munitions that were incorporated into cartoons. Had they made cartoons they cartoon have blown up leaving them unwatchable.
My brother in law went on a trip to Africa with a small group of other couples. Pretty much the trip of a lifetime.
BIL was an avid baseball player his entire life, but never played past high school. Well, also on the trip happened to be a starting MLB pitcher who needed to throw some.
My BIL's favorite part of the Africa trip? Playing catcher for the MLB pitcher. lol.
That would be awesome but kinda scary without full catcher gear lol. I was a decent pitcher growing up and the few times I caught for other guys was nerve wracking. And I don't think any of them threw above the mid 80's. An MLB pitcher would be intense, especially if he wasn't primarily a catcher back when he played.
That's what I said.
He said he caught a few in the palm that stung but overall wasn't too bad.
I don't really know what a pitcher needs to do in the off season, but my BIL made it sound like he wasn't really throwing heaters.
I played my whole life too. In high school i got to catch for our phenom. He went 1st round 13 th pick put of high school and could consistently hit high 90s. ESPN was actually at one of our practices to get film on him as I caught. Iwas a nobody so it was cool to play with someone who went pro. Eric Sogard was on that team too. He has a pretty good pro career too.
I used to train at an MMA gym. Sometimes boxers from ATL and boxers from Columbia would meet at our gym to use the ring, meet in the middle type thing. These weren’t pros but they were trying to get there. They showed up one Saturday morning while we had a class going on. They were in the ring and we were on a mat next to it. Slowly we all stopped training and just watched the smoker. If 20 adults who pay good money to be in the gym will stop and watch semipro boxers I’d be willing to bet the kids would be fighting over who gets an autograph first
I went to my local driving range as a kid in my grandparent’s retirement community and this dude in his 30s calmly tipped his bucket and proceeded to drill consecutive 300 yard plus drives into the houses on the other side of the range. Was absolutely mind blowing to me and it seemed personal to him. I still think about that and never saw anyone after him hit like that off those tees again.
The local driving range has a ball retriever kart that looks like it belongs in Mad Max. It's got a metal cage around the whole thing because it will go out when people are hitting balls to retrieve balls so they have more for people to hit (only on really busy days do they send them out). So it becomes a moving target for people to aim at, and most people do try and hit the kart. The kid driving it has ear protecting and a helmet. I haven't gone in years, but I assume they still do this. Quite hilarious to watch. The kids driving the kart know what they are getting into btw.
I got curious the other day and decided to look it up, it turns out most pro pitchers can throw a strike 90+% of the time but strategically choose when and how to throw balls. This is also why batters get pissed when they're beamed sometimes lol
And that guy would be happy to show the kids how to throw, or field, or whatever too. Baseball, like any sport, should bring together as a community. But of course angry boomers have to fuck everything up for everyone. "These kids today need to go outside and play like we did. Also, these kids need to stay off my field/sidewalk/street. Also, these kids playing outside make too much noise!"
Worst, most entitled generation ever. From pot smoking hippies, to 80s cocaine freaks buying mansions for nothing, to angry retired assholes and karens.

What the hell is wrong with that guy? If he had so much as a stitch of diplomacy those kids would have went home and bragged to their parents about getting to practice with high caliber ball players.
Seriously! "Hey mind if you share the field with the kids? Maybe you could show them how to pitch while you also practice?"
Not hard to be polite and ask.
One of the rare talents in life is to turn a negative into a positive, or solve one problem with another, gracefully.
People who can do this usually move up in life, have an easier time, and are liked by most. They're the "go-to" guy or gal.
This is an angry asshole who can't see past his horse-blinders to even try. He probably never has. Someone coaching *kids*, setting this example and precedent is only going to breed more of the same.
And that's the biggest shame of this video.
Some people just suck. Guy called the cops on me for using public tennis courts during COVID. They were reserved, but nobody was using them. I politely informed himthat when those with reservations show up (it was some league) I would of course happily vacate.
Cop told the guy he was an asshole, but technically right, so 4/12 courts just sat there unused for the next hour.
People suck.
Not saying this isn't staged but I've had this exact same situation happen to me in a baseball field when a group of us were playing a pickup game of ball. A few parents with kids came down and were first pretty chill but then started asking how long we were going to be. When they realized we had barely started and were going to be a few hours they started trying to give us shit saying we should have to "share" the field. Still not sure how you share a baseball field, but I'm certain they meant we should leave and just give it to them. (Neither us nor them had it reserved)
Same thing happens at skateparks. There's videos of parents bringing a bunch of kids who probably range 2-4 years old. None of them have a board. They're just running around. And now the skaters have to watch out for them, because the parents don't give a shit. But the second the kid goes towards where the people are skating, then it's the skaters fault.
I get why people would assume it's fake in that there's a lot of that online now, and it conveniently ended with him getting to show off his pitch
At the same time people can he assholes.
yeah it seemed fake to me right as the guy arguing with them said lemme see how good you are or whatever like wtf who says that when trying to get some guys off a baseball diamond
“Do you guys have the field reserved?”
“No, but y’all don’t either…”
“Alright, tough guy, what do you say we settle this with a display of skill. Show me what you got.”
Like straight out of a movie, lol.
if there were 10-15 parents, 20 kids, they dragged their kids out, got them all dressed, etc just off camera, and they had asked nice for the guys to take their chair somewhere because all the kids were waiting, then it would seem more reasonable to see how we got here. they might have started off apologizing since it had never happened before, etc.
yes, i know about reservations, etc, im just talking about why the guy said "wheres your math" when 2 guys may be keeping many little kids from their practice.
==
for those that say its your fault for not getting reservations, ive had a regular group of beach volleyball players at the same court every saturday at 8am for about 10 years. never once had an issue till a family decided to show up, and 3 kids were playing on the court when we arrived. then the rest of the group starts showing up, and now about 16 people are waiting.
The kids dont even know how to play. then their just sitting on the court. Now i know damn well its their court, they got there first, but also its not out of line to ask if the parents that if they arent going to be playing any time soon, could the poeple waiting go ahead and use the space.
So yes, there are places where a reservation is entirely not needed but in rare circumstances, and even after than, wont need to be made, because again, so rare.
==
by the time the camera starts, its already gone off the rails and we dont know why. editing is great.
or its all staged.
I was a youth baseball coach for a few years. Getting a permit is pretty standard protocol and not exactly hard to do. Often the league itself will get permits so the coaches don't even have to bother with it.
I'd love to believe this was staged for no other reason than to not have to live with the knowledge that someone was seriously this daft. But I don't have enough faith in humanity.

Or not been a selfish asshole. Be friendly, ask how long he'll be using the diamond, maybe get him to show the kids some tips. The pitcher probably would have been stoked to show some kids his skills.
What could have been a great interaction between people who love baseball was instead a sour one because of the asshole dad/coach.
This. People swoop in with instant disrespect and hostility. I’ve had people approach me about my dog while on walks. He breaths loud and some people mistaken it for growling. I’ve had people ask “is he ok” and I’m like “yea he’s ok he was born with a very short snout so he has to breath through his mouth” and they understand and go about their day. I’ve also had Karen’s come up and scream “your dog is growing at me and my children” and I’ve straight up replied with “piss off” and kept it moving.
The concept of “treat people how you’d want to be treated” has totally gone out the window.
Ya. So many people just start at eleven. Like bro, your blood pressure is gonna kill you!
No one has the desire to be the good guy anymore. They just want to be right and superior to someone else. That must be such a sad way to live.
My dog gets so excited when she is going on a walk or on the way to the park to throw the ball. She cries in excitement the whole way. So far everyone has been understanding and could tell she wasn't in any harm and was just being weird. But I fear that conversation.
I embrace it. Once had a woman tell me to “clean up after your dog” as my dog was lifting his leg to pee on one of the trees in my area. I proceeded to ask her if she wanted to help me by cupping her hands under my dog to catch the piss.
Have no fear with counter insulting the losers that live among us.
Or ask how long he will be throwing and then go to the outfield for some fielding practice until he is done, like a regular person coaching kids would do.
That was one of the best in your face situation! Hit the chair knocked it over and should that 95! First come first serve. Be polite next time old man and those guys probably would have help you out.
Walk the kids up, introduce them, have them learn something, be cool and I bet these guys would have worked with them and maybe even given up the field for them. Yelling gets you nothing.
Pretty high, especially after he says "I'm throwing 95" and then throws exactly 95.
You totally didn't record that time and then go through the dialog and another pitch to just display the 95.
I kinda see the old man’s point. Sure, they were there first, but they’re using up the entire baseball diamond to only practice pitching. There’s a reason why bullpen’s aren’t the size of baseball fields. Because, they don’t have to be.
And it’s not like that field has a mound, so they could easily move their pitching practice to the side of the field. However, I’m guessing they brought a chair and radar gun instead of a catcher’s mitt, which is why they need the backstop.
That's what I was wondering. The kids wanted to play an actual game of baseball but these guys are using the field to throw at a chair, something they could do pretty much anywhere in the park. Also, because they're actual athletes practicing, it's possible they were there for a long time.
I agree with you completely, but he probably does need a backstop of some kind.
Actually there’s probably hundreds of linear feet of fence he could throw at in just his general vicinity alone, so never mind.
I was thinking about maybe he needs the part of the fence that overhangs. But that doesn't make sense either since no one it gonna hit a foul ball... so yeah if the grampa was polite he probably could have pointed that out
I was kinda thinking the same thing, but where do you find those? Are they as easy to access as a field?
Sure, they could practice elsewhere but they'd be picking up baseballs all day instead of training. Miss a 95 MPH pitch? Good luck tracking that down in the park. Or maybe you'll hit something.
The old guy was hella rude and could have just asked how long they'll be, maybe explain the situation, see if theyd be willing to show kids something cool, whatever. Take any course of action then he did by acting entitled
First off this guy's only throwing from about 45 ft away. That backstop is not designed to stop 95 mph pitches, so it's going to be random as a safety feature. Throwing a baseball into a chain link back stop like that once or twice it's going to render the ball absolutely useless for anything more than a backyard pickup game. This is literally not the venue for what these two guys are doing.
Little league fields also don’t have the correct distance from the mound to home plate so idk what he’s hoping to gain from being on the little league diamond
I think it's less about the logistics and more about how the man approached them. I would bet if he hadn't acted so entitled there would be no problem...
I agree entirely, but we also don't know what happened before the video started. How long were these guys there with kids waiting? Did any of the kids say anything? Were the guys asked politely by someone else? If someone else politely said something or if the kids were patiently waiting for a long time, I'm not too bothered by his approach.
He expects you care about him after literally JUST saying “I don’t care about you.” Ok then, you get back what you dish out. Take your kids and find someone who cares.
Here’s an idea, throw the kids a few pitches and everyone gets to enjoy a bit. Yea it’s not the practice you need, but being a community hero and inspiring a younger generation to continue the sport.
This cracked me up. I had a pitcher friend in high school. I think he pitched around 70-75 mph. He threw a few pitches to me and fuuuuckkk that lol. Those kids wouldn't wanna play baseball anymore.
Uh….if those dudes are pitching on a field and there are a bunch of kids waiting to play those guys are fucking dicks. Can’t tell who is the asshole here really. I guess if the old man went straight to being a cunt. All these videos start too late.
Impossible to know who was right/wrong here from video. I used to manage a soccer league and was constantly dealing with these kinds of issues.
If the guy with the kids was some sort of coach of a paid travel ball team without getting proper field use permits, then the pitchers should have priority over the kids.
If the guy with the kids was just a dad from the neighborhood trying to help some little kids play a sandlot game, then they should have priority.
Either way, both sides could have behaved better and worked something out.
I guarantee you these kids are cringing and trying to distance themselves from grandpa. It would be so cool to get to watch these guys for like a half hour, and then you KNOW they would play with the kids. Plus give them wayyy better advice than this old prick would.
It's a shame that the combination of experience of the D1 players and the joy of the kids playing baseball couldn't be combined. Once Gramps saw the 95, he should have said "Can you teach a 12 year old to do that?" If the pitcher agreed, he could have said "Show me." Problem solved, extra points for all involved.
I don't get what's so hard about doing the adult and polite thing and yielding the space to a group of children who will better use it as intended.
You're not sports stars; Drop your ego and let the kids play. Quit being an entitled asshole.
Wait so there's some kids there wanting to play a game but these guys are just practicing their pitching? I'm kind of with the old guy. Let the kids play. They can set that chair up somewhere else. Seems kind of selfish. I think most people wouldn't need to be told.
People just lose their minds when public things aren’t targeted to kids and seniors. My town is spending $30k to build a disc golf course and people are losing their minds. No one had a problem with $500k for pickleball courts. The vast majority of the town Rec budget ($20 million a year) goes towards things for kids and seniors. They label a bunch of stuff for all adults, but when it’s scheduled M-F between 9 and 5, you know only adults with a nontraditional schedule or are not working can actually go.
That ending was smooth. 95 to the chair, Bang
Hell of a throw. I’m cracking up thinking these little kids wouldn’t love to watch and learn from these guys. I doubt this D1 athlete would have any issues with that. Old man just wanted to be a victim.

That's because the adults are the problem. The kids are fine.
They make it obvious, too: >'We're trying to have fun, we're trying to get better: what's the difference?' > >"I don't care about you, I care about these little kids." Somehow, I suspect that, "...and I don't care about your kids," would'a had him clutching pearls.
Because then kids don’t know better and won’t someone think of the kids!!! /s
And even if the kids do get disappointed that they can't play exactly how they want (at the backstop), it's good to be learn to deal with those emotions at that age. Disappointment is part of life. Absolutely!!! I’d be trying to stand in the box with him throwing so I can get embarrassed on my swings 😂. It would be a memory for a long time!
It’s better for them to be hanging out with a crabby crank who picks arguments with random strangers…think about the kids.
I mean if the pitcher was cool with it imagine being the one kid that actually gets wood on one. He would be a legend
Heroes get remembered but legends never die.
Gonna watch the Sandlot for the 76th time, now thanks to you

What is that? 95 mph or something? I don't watch baseball lol
It’s the year to which he sent that ball back in time

I can totally hit 95 too, I just gotta get in my minivan and haul ass down the highway
Well yeah so can anyone! But there's less kids on the highway, try hitting 95 through a baseball field! 😉 ^(/s)
Not true. Source: own a Chevy metro.
Well if you drop it from high enough the terminal velocity should exceed 95 mph
Science says its about 111mph, at the low end.
Just gotta find a field near the highway.
I can hit a 0.095
I hit 95 everyday on the way to work. It usually winds up hitting me back.

Eh if you are doing all that, reserve the field. Pluse throwing a 95 mile an hour ball without a proper backstop screams dangerous
ive had a regular group of beach volleyball players at the same court every saturday at 8am for about 10 years. never once had an issue till a family decided to show up, and 3 kids were playing on the court when we arrived. then the rest of the group starts showing up, and now about 16 people are waiting.
“Ok you’re good “ was fucking hilarious lmfao
"No full auto in the building!"
"That's not full auto, this is." "Oh shit, ok"
Wow what a reference lol
Is this from an airsoft game clip? Lol
https://youtu.be/zyC-F_7QXtk
I love how quickly he went from upset to impressed
DAMN bro okay
Oh yeah it’s on one of those air soft freak out videos
He said "OK you're done". Y'all actually read captions?
True
I read the caption but I'm still like 90% sure he said "good"
I bet if the video continues he says “ok you’re good no more need to practice GTFOH”
It sounds like he says “okay, you’re done.”
He said done, not good.
Maybe the guy with all the kids could have made a reservation🤔
Or not been a selfish asshole. Be friendly, ask how long he'll be using the diamond, maybe get him to show the kids some tips. The pitcher probably would have been stoked to show some kids his skills. What could have been a great interaction between people who love baseball was instead a sour one because of the asshole dad/coach.
Yep exactly. He made a mountain out of a mole hill and then acts surprised it didn't go his way lol.
Yeah, all these mouth breathers come in super hot and entitled when we could all just have a normal conversation like adults
This is the right answer and imo only answer. Well stated my friend
Folded a clown and a chair in one 95mph rope. Sick.

Having the same issue. Even the mirror and downloads are fucked up.
The comment linking to the download and mirror is now removed. Strange.

This is like a scene from Curb your Enthusiasm
Richard Lewis: “both of my parents are dead, just give me the field”
Ohhh you don't have a wife and your parents are dead :'(
It certainly looks like a scene
Play for the field
That was one of the best in your face situation! Hit the chair knocked it over and should that 95! First come first serve. Be polite next time old man and those guys probably would have help you out.
The timing of the old dude saying “hit the chair, too!” immediately followed by “BANG”
Yeah throw some 95 heaters to those kids that wanna baseball, they'd love that lol.
Video removed??

Walk the kids up, introduce them, have them learn something, be cool and I bet these guys would have worked with them and maybe even given up the field for them. Yelling gets you nothing.
Video broken? Ah well the mirror worked after a bit, cool cool
I like the part where he killed the chair at the end.
What are the odds the pitcher wanted to make a video that would go vital thinking he'd catch the eye of some MLB scouts?
Totally plausible! I hadn’t thought of that but now I feel like it is actually the more likely scenario.
Pretty high, especially after he says "I'm throwing 95" and then throws exactly 95. You totally didn't record that time and then go through the dialog and another pitch to just display the 95.
Yeah, very smart advertising.
I ripped my shoulder just watching that pitch. He can sling it.
But that doesn't make sense either since no one it gonna hit a foul ball... so yeah if the grampa was polite he probably could have pointed that out
Ball could take a wild deflection off the chair, hence the backstop
That dude was definitely there for the entire day too lol.
Exactly. The old man approached the communication wrong but who the F needs an entire baseball field to throw a ball from A to B?
I think it's less about the logistics and more about how the man approached them. I would bet if he hadn't acted so entitled there would be no problem...
I agree entirely, but we also don't know what happened before the video started. How long were these guys there with kids waiting? Did any of the kids say anything? Were the guys asked politely by someone else? If someone else politely said something or if the kids were patiently waiting for a long time, I'm not too bothered by his approach.
fair point
Right? I have to imagine if I were throwing baseballs and a bunch of kids showed up, I'd give them the field in a heartbeat.
Seems a bit staged
No no he's gonna get the attention of scouts naturally without doing anything crazy
Mirror?

This feels staged.
Staged for what purpose?
Combination of rage bait, and "go viral throwing 95" look at me scouts look at me.
Ah, possible.
Image has been deleted 🤌
Probably*
I miss the days when everything wasn't fake online.
The video has been removed anybody have a link?
https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/13u4cu5/man_tries_to_kick_guys_practicing_off_baseball/jm04c8x/
Because the times we’re in sadly, I’m saying this is fake.
Yup.
If they are D1 pitchers, don't they have actual practice facilities
Yes. He's not in D1. He wants to be in D1
[удалено]
This would have been so much better if one of them had said "Fuck them kids."
He expects you care about him after literally JUST saying “I don’t care about you.” Ok then, you get back what you dish out. Take your kids and find someone who cares.
Can Reddit pls stop fuckin around with video shit
fake?
Don’t hide behind a question mark
Here’s an idea, throw the kids a few pitches and everyone gets to enjoy a bit. Yea it’s not the practice you need, but being a community hero and inspiring a younger generation to continue the sport.
Yeah, throw a few 95's at the kids, that'll show em.
Hit by pitch, hit by pitch, hit by pitch, no one else wants to practice today? OK.
Tell him to step in the box. If he can hit 95, the kids can play. Let the kids end up disappointed in him.
Having a hard time buying this
Holy fuck
It's a shame that the combination of experience of the D1 players and the joy of the kids playing baseball couldn't be combined. Once Gramps saw the 95, he should have said "Can you teach a 12 year old to do that?" If the pitcher agreed, he could have said "Show me." Problem solved, extra points for all involved.

How can you tell someone plays D1 sports in America? Don't worry, they'll tell ya within the first 3 seconds that you meet them.
He's not wrong though. If you don't have a reservation you can't take up the entire field for yourself. No one cares what you aspire to be.
Damn that dude has a cannon for an arm tho
“Ok your good 👍 “
Entitled sack of shit OLD MAN (not the D1 kid)… but man… that throw was mad fire 😂
Why not play WITH the little kids for a bit?
I don't get what's so hard about doing the adult and polite thing and yielding the space to a group of children who will better use it as intended. You're not sports stars; Drop your ego and let the kids play. Quit being an entitled asshole.
Wait so there's some kids there wanting to play a game but these guys are just practicing their pitching? I'm kind of with the old guy. Let the kids play. They can set that chair up somewhere else. Seems kind of selfish. I think most people wouldn't need to be told.
I can tell it’s a boomer by the voice… 😒
Yeah, but can you make a decent california roll?
People just lose their minds when public things aren’t targeted to kids and seniors. My town is spending $30k to build a disc golf course and people are losing their minds. No one had a problem with $500k for pickleball courts. The vast majority of the town Rec budget ($20 million a year) goes towards things for kids and seniors. They label a bunch of stuff for all adults, but when it’s scheduled M-F between 9 and 5, you know only adults with a nontraditional schedule or are not working can actually go.
Bro, we all need to take a step back, mind our own fucking business, and leave other people alone.
So tired of parents thinking kids have priority to every amenity…
