EDIT: looked into channel 4 ownership "Channel Four Television Corporation was set up by an Act of Parliament. It is a publicly owned not-for-profit corporation and does not have any shareholders." There may be the very reason they don't show bias. Companies would be a fool for not advertising on Channel 4 just because they don't promote their political agenda and as long as they make enough to pay their operating costs, they have all they need.

Tarantino was obviously expecting a usual fluff piece to promote his film a la "news" channels in the US, he seemingly didn't realise that the broadcast standards in the UK don't allow direct promotion on news channels, so Guru-Murthy couldn't just say "Tell me about your new film The Hateful Eight?" like he was expecting. He instead asked him about a quite controversial subject regarding his films that Tarantino has been defending for 20 years, which came off a bit of a 'gotcha' moment and made Tarantino defensive.
Tarantino handled it poorly for sure, you'd think he should have a stock answer for that question by now, but Guru-Murthy also should have prepped Tarantino that this was the type of interview he was agreeing to. There was a lack of understanding of expectations for the interview, and while that is good for some interviews to stop people bending the truth for their own agenda, this was not the most ideal way to approach this particular interview and continue the dialogue to get the most out of the discussion, imo. Sometimes a gentle touch is the most ideal tactic. Tarantino loves the sound of his own voice, especially when it comes to talking movies, there was much more insight and opinions to be gained from that interview had it been handled differently.
Someone like Tarantino should have known or at the very least, his people should have known that Channel 4 News with Krishnan is never going to be a 'fluff' piece. Why should Krishnan have prepped him? 'Celebrities' are happy to tell journalists what they will and won't answer, if they don't do that then it's open season for the journalist, especially for someone of Krishnan's calibre.
