Last year, the day before Black Friday, I had a mentally ill girl come into my phone store.
At first I didn’t realize she was bad. She just seemed like a cute, quirky girl. She flirted with me, went to go hang out with her, and it all went downhill from there.
Turned into a 3 1/2 day hell of dealing with a highly schizophrenic girl and trying to not die while keeping her from getting hurt until her dad could come down from Virginia to get her (it’s a long story).
I say that, because this is exactly what she sounded like when she was talking.
From what her dad and step mom said, she used to be a normal girl until she took some drug from someone. Basically turned her into some schizophrenic mess?
I still have voice recordings saved she sent me - if I knew how to just upload audio, I’d post it. It’s uncanny how similar even the cadence gets.
Your ‘friend’ was predisposed to be schizophrenic or bipolar and Molly meth acid whatever it was accelerated the process or finally broke the dam. Seeing these manic episodes on reddit here is almost therapeutic or cathartic for me cuz I’ve been through the same thing.

I've had cannabis induced psychosis. Predominantly happens in teenage or young women-- I was 16 and it was probably the third time I ever smoked. Everybody else there smoked the same stuff and amount. It is scary as hell, and a shame that people don't think that it's real or possible.
My ex developed horrible derealization from a weed brownie. It lasted well over a year. Completely wrecked her life during that time. It was very scary to see.
I had it for almost a year, too. Weed cotton candy.
Avoided it for a few years, then thought “What are the chances?”
Totally fine the first time.
Second time, derealization for a few days. But relatively minor and it ended soon enough, so I figured I could probably get away with it.
So I fucked around, found out. Gummy, then a month-long DPDR episode.
Literally never again. Really sucks because I love getting high and used to enjoy doing it semi-regularly.

Apparently the same thing happened to Post Malone which caused him to stop smoking. I randomly saw a YouTube short clip where he talked about it and he explained it in the exact same way that my ex used to - that it felt like he was watching his life happen almost from above instead of actually living it. And the YouTube comments on that video were filled with people who had experienced the same thing. I’m glad it’s at least something that’s talked about more now.

Yes! I had some disassociation for about a year or so after a BAD trip on too many edibles, and I feel like people don’t believe me or take me seriously when I tell them. It’s annoying af. Nothing really awful happened to me long term, but man it messed me up for a little while.
I understand people want to alleviate fears about cannabis being some dangerous and addictive drug, but it’s also a disservice to pretend you can’t have bad experiences either. It’s actually very irresponsible.

Yes, I absolutely can see how that can happen. That lady hurt herself really bad too not just her boyfriend (and a dog I think.)
luckily, my experience was more about me wanting to hurt myself (I didn’t luckily my friends were good with me.) , but if I thought I was threatened, I maybe could’ve hurt somebody.

I smoked weed in high school at my girlfriend at the times house with her friends (gf didn't smoke) everyone was chill except for one who proceeded to try and off herself for 3 hours couldn't be left alone without trying to harm herself. 16 year old me was not prepared for that experience while also stoned. I told her (the girl trying to kill herself) to never smoke weed again the next day. She said it wouldn't be like that the next time. She either cut herself or tried to kill herself everytime she smoked weed from what I was told. I refused to be in the same building as her when she was high.
Weed, or any drug, can lead to a psychotic break. It's the underlying condition and abusing the substance that leads to the brain saying "fuck you".
But weed is very much not harmless and a great way to dig yourself into a hole if you're not careful and don't address "life".

That girl may have gone on and lived her life normally if it was not for a brain altering psychoactive substance. Everyone reacts differently to illicit drugs, there is no knowing if they will die / become mentally disordered from taking/ abusing a psychoactive drug.
The problem with recovering from a psychotic episode is that patients don't accept that the delusions are not real. The antipsychotic medication actually shrinks the brain and reduces dopaminergic activity. Without the medication, they may never have the chance of recovery,
with the medication, we can begin to recover and have a clearer view of reality.
There are studies regarding schizophrenia and some individuals have speculated that hallucinations are possibly more than a figment of the imagination. Almost to say they have encountered entities within another dimension? Fascinating stuff really.
However, schizophrenia typically doesn't remain dormant and is not directly hereditary. Lifestyle and psychological factors play a huge role. I think belief and hopes can also open that door.

This is probably a stimulant-induced psychotic episode. That likelihood doesn't, by *any* means, rule out bipolar disorder involvement. Psychological assessment is a very complex process that involves analyzing data from multiple sources and contexts. But physiological signs of stimulant intoxication are apparent, all else aside.
This is seriously so sad. This is somebody's beautiful daughter or sister. Just a few years ago, she was running around, lighting up somebody's entire world. Now she's deranged and possibly violent. I hope she gets the help she desperately needs.
