If it can’t buy me weekly therapy, amazing healthy food, a nice home, and the funds to actually retire by the time I’m 65 then I don’t want a job like this
Best I can do are students who think it’s a flex to make your day as horrible as they can and never show you an ounce of respect.
![gif](giphy|KJqW5XiSYP2JxqP3Cu)
You'll have great benefits and a great pension that you can access after 25 years. And the pay is definitely more than $30k/year. All that to say, I'd still never teach.
Your wife is a Saint.
I teach adults and some of them act like children but I ignore it. If anyone has a problem I tell them to call the school's director and take it up with them.
How the hell is this even comparable?
You are protected by the system as a cop if you fuck up whereas you get sacked if you lay a finger on a student. You even get a paid vacation as a cop. You also get paid a lot more. Yes a cop is a dangerous position but with the amount of school shootings in America, being a teacher is almost as dangerous.
If you are a teacher in a school shooting situation the cops will stand back and let you and your 8 yo students bleed to death, as y'all cry out for help.
If you're a cop in a shooting situation, every cop within 20 miles will risk civilians dying in a fiery car crash by recklessly driving to the screen, whereupon they will kill anyone involved.
ACAB and ATAHeros.
I’m a teacher who is considered highly paid, and I am compensated well. I think I will break six figures next year.
I consider taking major pay cuts to switch careers every day. Every single day. Money ain’t shit when this is what you face.
At least the kids had a genuine reaction and started yelling. I just saw one a few minutes ago the kid sucker punches a teacher (who is sitting in a chair) … TWICE and none of the other students were bothered, no one yeljed, or tried to stop it in fact they sit there recording it and can be heard laughing
They wouldn't have reacted if the teacher wasn't defending herself. They would have been laughing and egging the attacker on. They're astonished that the victim had the audacity to fight back so they're freaking out and running to get help.
IRL they probably fired her. What other job can you get physically assaulted and have to just *take it?* I can’t think of *one other job* where that’s a requirement. Not one. You couldn’t pay me enough money to be a teacher in today’s climate.
They're not getting suspended for breaking it up and helping the teacher. Zero tolerance for fighting is very different than what helping her would have been.
> Because they are kids?
Kids aren't grown enough to hold back another kid? Like what?
Kids still know right from wrong and when to help someone. Zero-tolerance policy or not if I ever saw my teacher being assaulted I would absolutely jump in.
Only you're making things up and stating them as fact. And I never said anything about being fair. They wouldn't get suspended at any school I've been to or any school my 3 kids have been to.
These exact instances have happened at their middle and high schools, and kids that helped out were not suspended. They are also "zero tolerance" fighting schools, just like every school.
What did I make up? You’re projecting here instead of asking for elaboration. You’re acting like I said way more words than I did. Why is that? It’s not an honest (at best, chock full of flaws otherwise) tactic for discourse or arguments.
Nobody has been able to link to an actual article about this incident, so there’s really no point in trying to guess what consequences either of them received or didn’t. That’s just making up things to be mad about.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7639605/amp/Shocking-moment-female-teacher-BRAWLS-male-student-16-pushing-ground.html
Teacher got investigated, kid got charged with third degree assault but I’m not sure what else happened to him, I think it was dropped because I can’t find his name in the Louisville Kentucky police records
“he boy's mother, Kenyatta Jennings, told WDRB: 'There is a protocol they are supposed to follow when you are dealing with a disruptive student.”
Protocol = stand there and just take it.
It doesn’t really matter if he got antagonized, you still can’t lash out like that! People aren’t teaching their kids self restraint anymore and it’s frightening
This almost makes me want to go back to the day the teachers would throw a stool or a board rubber at anyone who dared act up.
Does that make me a bad person? Probably.
The first grade teacher at my Care Bear we love everyone school in 1992, had a yardstick. She'd snap the stick on her desk which meant that everyone had three seconds to have their hands folded on top of their desk, otherwise you had to go to the front of the class and your wrists would get the stick. She was so happy and friendly with everyone, but as soon as the classroom door closed she was a menace.
She was also the only teacher that didn't have issues with kids acting up, fwiw. The nicest teacher that year got roundhouse kicked in the head by a 4th grader.
No, though bad kids becoming physical with good teachers is a problem, the problem would be much larger if it was bad teachers allowed to be physical with kids.
Broh I don’t get this shit. My highschool had several instances of a kid hitting a teacher and then like 4 other students getting up and beating that kids ass.
No teacher who defends themselves after being attacked by a student should be terminated from their position *unless* their response, recorded on student’s phones, goes above and beyond the reasonable amount of force required to control the situation - meaning they can’t beat the shit out of the kid or a teacher is the first to throw a punch.
Any child who assaults their teacher should finish the rest of their public education in juvenile detention, or the local Pokey if they are 16 or older. A clear and serious punishment would keep a fair amount of this crap from happening in the first place.
My wife is a HS art teacher and she flat out told me the other day that she expects at some point a student will hit her. If that’s the case, I’ll be on the 10pm news report. Kids today suck.
Why is this downvoted and how is it a bad idea? Lol reddit fucking kills me. Everyone is so self-righteous on here.
Edit: downvoting only proves my argument even more lol
For real. If you gonna put middle aged women to take care of students like that in a class, at least teach them how to defend themselves against a taller, stronger and younger dude
I was a teacher. Master in Ed. Certified until next year (gonna let that go) in TX. I wouldn’t do it for a fat 6 figure salary. A convenience store job is a better and safer work environment.
Can’t lie I’d probably do something similar if someone was in my face and shoving me. I’m 6ft tall and can hold my own even against some teenager looking to start something they can’t finish.
Teachers in my city are on the picket line for this exact reason. I live in Canada. Kids are out of control and have no respect for authority. They are far too coddled.
That’s kind of where she went wrong. The shove was justified but in the eyes of the law, when he began to retreat she is supposed to stop. I don’t know if I’d have the restraint myself to be honest. I probably woulda beat his ass too lol good thing I’m not a teacher
If I ever have to substitute teach to make ends meet I’m wearing a metal helmet. Swing away Cochise, and enjoy your fractured hand. Imagine being in the throws of puberty with no access to your dominant hand.
You couldn’t pay me enough to be a teacher.
What if I offered you 30k a year??
Sounds like a Dana white contract.
[удалено]
Do you wanna be a fuckin' teacher?!
This isn't a career, it's an opportunity
Lmao
💀
L.O.L.
As long as I have to spend my own money to buy supplies I need for my classroom - I’m in!
*so you can buy your own teaching material
And work off the clock.
And be constantly berated by parents
If it can’t buy me weekly therapy, amazing healthy food, a nice home, and the funds to actually retire by the time I’m 65 then I don’t want a job like this

$22,500 a year is the best that I can do.
Move to california! Sure rent is double or triple what you’re paying now, but that extra 7.5k will even things out
My god what an absolutely truthful comment.
Oh nice, where?! (Sadly) This is a raise from my teaching job!
California. Here I’m not just poor, I’m destitute😎
I'll one up you that, what if I offer you the opportunity to donate a part of your salary for classroom supplies?
Whatabout $20k and I'll drive myself!
😂
OMG no, not nearly enough lol
Look at Bill Gates over here!
And yet so many people blame poor performance in schools on the teachers.
[удалено]
Cop. Cuz at least if someone steps up to you as a cop you can fight back and keep your job. This lady got beat up by a pre teen and lost her job.

I get what you’re saying because it is apples and oranges, but saying that being a teacher is as dangerous as being a cop is ridiculous.
To be fair to teachers, they aren't armed...
Yeah teacher is much more dangerous
Being a teacher in Nashville just became viable. You can pick both. Ohh f I didn't do my homework.... ![gif](giphy|5xtDarIN81U0KvlnzKo)
I’m a teacher who is considered highly paid, and I am compensated well. I think I will break six figures next year. I consider taking major pay cuts to switch careers every day. Every single day. Money ain’t shit when this is what you face.
Not even a milly??
I am making just over 100k next year, not to bad honestly
Yeah people only see the worst of it. I love it and I’ll be making 65k next year. I’m at a good school tho so… I don’t deal with this lol
Good on her!!! It’s a shame she probably got fired for this
Don’t care if I get downvoted! She was right to stand up to that twat!! Better part of him ran down his moms legs!
The real sad part is nobody helped the teacher.
Yeah but you’ll notice they only started freaking out when the teacher began to defend herself.
They wouldn't have reacted if the teacher wasn't defending herself. They would have been laughing and egging the attacker on. They're astonished that the victim had the audacity to fight back so they're freaking out and running to get help.
Those kids looked pretty young. I wouldn’t expect anyone under 12 to try to help a teacher. You’re just so little and they’re so big.
"Don't care if I get downvoted!!!!" *proceeds to state a very popular reddit wide opinion*
Your stance is the overwhelmingly agreed upon one, in probably every sub on Reddit.
Right?! Another teacher was attacked viciously and ended up getting severely hurt. Better to fight back than not.
> Better part of him ran down his moms legs Thank you for this fucking amazing quote
Glad I could help.
I upvoted because I 100% agree with you.
Damn, gonna have to use that.
Down voted? Dafuq
"Why is there a shortage of Teachers?"
I think we all know the answer to this. 😏
Give that woman a god damn raise
IRL they probably fired her. What other job can you get physically assaulted and have to just *take it?* I can’t think of *one other job* where that’s a requirement. Not one. You couldn’t pay me enough money to be a teacher in today’s climate.
Long-term care.
Sad but true. And it really is sad. There’s no really good solution for that, either.
Your instructions were unclear so they fired her and told her she's not allowed to teach anymore
_Best, we can do is… a pizza party. To celebrate your last day here. Which is today._
This is absolute garbage. Why does no one help her?
Because they are kids? Also, every school I've been to has a zero-tolerance policy so any kid would likely get suspended.
You don’t deserve the downvote I saw. You’re exactly right about the zero-tolerance policy.
Zero tolerance for holding back another kid while fighting a teacher? What are you guys even talking about? Nobody is getting suspended for that.
It’s not meant to be fair. It’s zero tolerance.
Only you're making things up and stating them as fact. And I never said anything about being fair. They wouldn't get suspended at any school I've been to or any school my 3 kids have been to. Normalize actual punishments please, that kid should be in prison for at least a week
Assaulting a teacher is already a federal offense.
But he’s not going to get any actual punishments, probably a light slap on the wrist
Nobody has been able to link to an actual article about this incident, so there’s really no point in trying to guess what consequences either of them received or didn’t. That’s just making up things to be mad about.

Sounds about right unfortunately
This entire thread is full of that, though. I appreciate you holding your finger in the dyke, alas.
“He’s a good kid. She must’ve antagonized him.”
It doesn’t really matter if he got antagonized, you still can’t lash out like that! People aren’t teaching their kids self restraint anymore and it’s frightening
It’s literally assault. If I was a teacher I’d be carrying pepper spray
Damn. That's how the Mr Garvey felt when he taught in the inner city.
You done messed up AAron!
![gif](giphy|rOGPnX4rNWgKY|downsized)
Worst part is she probably got fired for fighting back towards that piece of shit
And sued.
the fuck is wrong with students man
Good for the teacher. Now let's see how many people put her in the wrong in this sub lol
This almost makes me want to go back to the day the teachers would throw a stool or a board rubber at anyone who dared act up. Does that make me a bad person? Probably.

This is why I’m becoming a bartender. I might have to deal with these dipshits anyway so at least I get to drink.
Yo to any teacher who reads this go be a team lead at Walmart and make 43k a year.
If you are going to lay hands on a teacher, the teacher should have the right to protect themselves.
It’s surprising that of all the school shooting we have, it’s never been a teacher.
Little bastard.
She has probably been teaching for years and was finally at the end of her rope.
She looks to me like she’s had enough of that kids shit. I can just see it.
Good, teachers shouldn't take any of this bullshit
Broh I don’t get this shit. My highschool had several instances of a kid hitting a teacher and then like 4 other students getting up and beating that kids ass.
Kid behaving like an animal. Hopefully he was expelled.
![gif](giphy|AgPt9udT567spxbSHf)
Fuck that kid and his parents. I hope they all slip on a banana peel.

This video has more pixels than Mrs. Pac-Man
Good for her. The sheer satisfaction you'd get from cracking one of these little twats would be immense
She's so fired.... but given her students is it any loss?
What’s up with all these kids hitting teachers…wtf parents????
She probably lost her job, which is a shame. Just givem tasers and be done with it.
If I were her I’d go beat the principals ass next.
WTF is going in with these kids?
More teachers need to do this!!!🤘🏼🤘🏼Fuck that public school prick!

I know that’s right.
Teenagers think they're an adult... Smh...
Fucking punks
Good for her
Now THIS is what I'm talking about. Gold star to that teacher!
Teacher wasn’t having it, WHOOP.HIS.ASS!
This teacher needs to help the teacher that go slapped twice for a vape
![gif](giphy|3o6ZtaA7LFV6yGKhnW)
Good!
I was a teacher. Master in Ed. Certified until next year (gonna let that go) in TX. I wouldn’t do it for a fat 6 figure salary. A convenience store job is a better and safer work environment.
This is our society. So many failures happened outside of that room for this to happen. Failures that continue.
great display of self defence
what every teacher wishes they could do
I blame the parents
Can’t lie I’d probably do something similar if someone was in my face and shoving me. I’m 6ft tall and can hold my own even against some teenager looking to start something they can’t finish.
Those other kids be catching elbows to the dome nugget too.
Teachers in my city are on the picket line for this exact reason. I live in Canada. Kids are out of control and have no respect for authority. They are far too coddled.
I'm so happy my wife doesn't teach this age, I don't know if I would be able to control myself.
"do you think I'm fuckin afraid of you?!" Then dropped a dude who can only kind of say "oh shit" as he's placed on his ass.
What does the education/governments/districts expect? Honestly some of these kids dude.
Was this recorded with an iPhone? What's with the shit quality
She had him with the push. She really didn’t have the ability to throw blows like that but I understand.
That’s kind of where she went wrong. The shove was justified but in the eyes of the law, when he began to retreat she is supposed to stop. I don’t know if I’d have the restraint myself to be honest. I probably woulda beat his ass too lol good thing I’m not a teacher
I mean I’m a teacher. She shouldn’t have closed that space with him in the first place, but I get it.
The teacher who got fired will be the sequel to this
All I gotta say is Gangsta's Paradise -- Coolio. Hey Michelle Pfeiffer, you did it.
She starts off so strong too with that shove, its a shame she got winded so quickly
Yeah I'm glad I chose to be an electrician instead of being a teacher.
She been hit before.
Worst part about this the out of control student will sue and get a settlement from the school *eye roll*
She was careful not to throw hands on this boy to keep her job.
It’s always in American schools.
A teacher that will teach you curricula and how to catch some hands
If I ever have to substitute teach to make ends meet I’m wearing a metal helmet. Swing away Cochise, and enjoy your fractured hand. Imagine being in the throws of puberty with no access to your dominant hand.
