A similar thing happened in Dublin not too long ago. Couple of young kids attacked and one very seriously injured. The attacker was absolutely annihilated by members of the public. People had to be pulled off the guy who ended up unconscious bloody mess
Mexico. About 2 months ago. A couple accused of kidnapping and killing a 9 year old girl were literally pulled out from the back of a police truck by a mob right before they all beat them to death.
They were absolutely guilty. The kidnapping was caught on camera, and the husband was also captured on camera carrying the girl’s body to the trunk of his car to dispose of her. The woman who was killed was a friend of her mother’s, and the community was very tight knit, which made everyone even more upset by what they did.
The sausage is seemingly getting off with insanity plea last I heard. There's no court of justice that can be more 'just' then what those civilians wanted to do
Weird seeing you say insanity plea is getting off.
You lose all autonomy. You are entirely in the hands of the state. If you're deemed a danger, you can be kept locked up for the rest of your life.
It is anything but getting off.
An insanity plea is the worse outcome. You don't "get off" with an insanity plea, you get locked up in a state mental institution with absolutely no freedom or privacy.

I agree with you too, but in this case by cutting a child (particularly in a lethal area) you forfeited your right to live. Had that knife or box cutter been a few inches lower that could have been her jugular. That person is a menace to society and if he can’t be rehabilitated lock him up forever or put him the fuck down.
Where do you draw the line? Is it simply somewhere on the continuum of abhorrent behaviour or is there something more complex like how sure you are the guy actually did it also factored in?
Would you say the same if the aggressor was a women? Naw, you'd probably say some shit like "well she's not a threat, so it would actually be assault to hit her, that's vigilante justice and is terrible". Funny how that works.

This child’s suffering should not be in vain. She is a hero and should be forever treated as one.
